We ordered Garlice Pea Vines with garlic, Tea-smoked Duck, Hot and Sour shredded potatoes, Grilled Pepper with Century Egg, Boiled Spicy Beef, Hunan-style Soy Fried Rice, and Clay pot Bamboo shoot Pork Trotters and Chicken soup. Stopped in here this last weekend with some friends for dinner. We got there around 4:30 and it wasn't too busy yet. That changed significantly in the next hour as there was a line out the door. Parking is at a premium and you may have to walk a little bit to get to the restaurant. Ordered the shrimp, fried rice and sweet and sour pork. I always have used fried rice as a good gauge of authenticity. The shrimp fried rice did not disappoint. Huge servings of shrimp and it was cooked without soy sauce being added so you could add it to taste. The sweet-and-sour pork was a generous portion, and I had a side of rice with it. It was flavorful and sweet and the pork was not overcooked. Great job. Also got an order of honey walnut shrimp. Generous sized prawns were used and they were delicious. I chose this place to gather with friends today. Although it's called a Sichuan cuisine restaurant, it actually incorporates many elements of Hunan cuisine. Environment: The setting is very nice, with large tables and relatively comfortable seating for everyone. It's clean and hygienic. ‍ Service: The staff has a great attitude. They offer dining suggestions, introduce dishes, and provide advice on pairings and other details. Taste: I only took photos of a few dishes. The "Spicy Beef Trio" includes beef tripe, beef tongue, and beef aorta--by the way, the "aorta" here isn't the throat, but the aortic blood vessel of the cow. The flavor doesn't have the traditional Sichuan aroma, and since the three main ingredients are all foods with dense fiber, they don't easily absorb the seasoning. Clay Pot Tofu: This dish features salted egg yolk flavor, though the taste isn't too strong. I'd suggest steaming the egg yolks beforehand--reheating each ingredient can double its aroma. Signature Fried Rice: Packed with ingredients, with distinct grains. It's a fairly decent dish. As the foremost of the Eight Great Culinary Traditions of China, Sichuan cuisine originated because China's vast territory made it difficult to preserve many spices and ingredients. Solid Sichuan food - we enjoy the dry pot cauliflower, tofu dishes, any of the lamb dishes, the shredded potatoes, and the variations on whole fish. We also have ordered takeout a number of times; it is reliably good. The kitchen does an admirable job of modifying spice levels depending on the preferences of the diners, too, which I like (we dine regularly with kids who can't handle anything above mild). I came at around 5:30pm on a sunday and was seated right away (party of 6). Service was relatively fast and the food was pretty yummy. My favor dishes were the fish and eggplant, though the eggplant was a tad salty. The chili chicken pieces didn't have a lot of chicken in them, so the amount of oil was overpowering. The tea-roasted duck wasn't my favorite either. It wasn't dry but I prefer the flavor of a classic chinese roasted duck over this. My little dude loves this place, which was weird to me because he's quite picky and the dishes aren't like traditional American food in almost any way. The restaurant was 60% full at that time, and there were 3 other takeouts waiting to be picked up. My experience here has been great, and I especially ordered stuff here since not many restaurants in Bellevue sell the squirrel fish. For some reason I just really want it for the lunar new year lol. They provided a separate container for the squirrel fish sauce, and I think it's definitely a dish that you need to enjoy in the restaurant. It's still great but it's just not the same. The sweet and sour pork was good and crunchy, but the two sauces were too similar, which was my fault. Overall I enjoyed the food here, and I really miss their chili mixed eggplant & preserved egg. If you're looking for authentic Sichuanese food in Bellevue, this is it! I've been searching for a good mapo tofu ever since moving here and between this and Shaoshan Impression I've finally found it. At other restaurants in the area, I've always been a little disappointed by how little flavor makes it into the tofu, but the one here is super flavorful and tastes so authentic. If I had any feedback, it would only be to make it a bit spicier, because it wasn't very spicy at all (this is why Shaoshan puts up a good fight, lol). Aside from that, I also really enjoyed their scallion pancakes. I came with a bigger group so I can't remember everything we ordered, but I'd love to visit again and order even more of that mapo tofu. 10/10, would recommend! read more

Located in the 520 Plaza, Mercury's coffee shop, this place looks small from the outside, but it was spacious on the inside. You're greeted by friendly staff and a kiosk to add your name on the waiting list. There are 3 round tables for big parties (8-10 maybe), a couple of tables for 6, and the rest are for parties of 4 or less. There are 3-4 booths toward the back. We arrived a little before 6 pm and the place was in full swing. We had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table. Menu had pictures, which was great because some of the names of the dishes are not familiar to us and sounded a bit off-putting, like "saliva chicken" (but the picture looked good so maybe we'll try that dish next time). There was only 2 of us so had a hard time narrowing dishes because we wanted to try a lot more! Tea Smoked Duck - love how you can taste the smoky flavor! The skin was crispy. Very different from the usual 5-spice roasted duck we have occasionally. I highly recommend this dish! Cumin Lamb - served on a sizzling plate, thinly sliced meat full of flavor! Definitely not shy with the cumin! But in addition to the cumin flavor, I enjoyed the flavor nuances -- one bite and I tasted ginger, another bite had roasted garlic, and another had a hint of star anise or some fragrant seasoning. This dish has heat and you can see it from the red chili peppers, but the heat wasn't overpowering. Not to us at least. :) Another recommendation! Garlic A Choy - not sure what A Choy is but it reminded me of Choy Sum. In any case, it was very tasty! Special Fried Noodle - chow mein noodles, stir fried with shrimp, beef, chicken and veggies. Another tasty dish! The Garic A Choy and Special Fried Noodle were nice balance to the flavorful duck and lamb dish. I recommend all of them! Service was great. Food came out quickly after ordering. This is a spot that I am longing to return to at some point or another! We ordered the cumin lamb and the water boiled fish and both dishes were really packed with flavor. The cumin lamb would have to be my favorite and I liked how it was served in a sizzling plate, which added a nice little crisp to the taste. Have gone here for lunch and handful of times and it hits the spot both because of the lunch menu and it's fairly priced at about $15 for decent sized entrees. Dan Gui is real deal Chinese food, or at least appears to be. The majority of patrons here appear to be Chinese, and a lot of the menu is in Chinese. Also the offerings are different as opposed to the more Americanized Chinese fare we know and love. I've had both the Kung pao chicken and the far and wide favorite General Tso's lunch entrees here and both are good. The Kung Pao Chicken has a lot of different flavors going on and includes nuts, and a slightly spicy sauce. The General Tso's is very flavorful and doesn't have as much of crispiness as the usual General Tso's you'd expect. I kind of like it. Service is fast but not as personal, perhaps language barriers being a possibility. The restaurant has plenty of seating and even on the lunch visits I've made with lots of other patrons, they're still a few tables open. Solid authentic Chinese food overall. read more

My family and I enjoy Dan Gui pretty frequently! It's been a couple months since I last came though and the beef and squid were both quite tough this time around. It feels like the beef might have been cut the wrong direction of the grain maybe? And the squid is usually hard to get right, but I was hoping it'd be a little more tender. Overall though the flavor is delicious as always and we had a great meal. My daughter and I have been here for lunch two times. The first time I was impressed I even joined the restaurant club and thought for sure this would be a favorite. I'm not sure if there was a different chef or if perhaps you've changed ingredients but the sauces were just off. Too sour, no spice, no umami. There was a gentleman server today who was super nice and attentive, (he wasn't our server except for one item) but the ladies who were working today seemed annoyed when we placed our order. Like lightning quick. Almost magic! I'm surprised how quick it is sometimes. Friendly to non Chinese speaking guests, as well as kid friendly too. Really enjoy how they can cater and accommodate to everyone! Food is oily. Just like how the Chinese intends it to be! But delicious! Good food, a little disorganized in wait lists and seating/serving, overall quick food service, and very sichuan. By very sichuan I just mean pretty much every dish has heavy sichuan 'numbing' pepper in it. I love it as does my wife, but the kids not so much (it isn't really hot, the numbing just makes water taste weird :D) We generally get green onion pancake everywhere we go. This is a pretty standard one but with a little more flavor and oil than others. It didn't come with any dipping sauce though we had plenty to soak up in the dishes. I wish it was the thicker doughier style but I'll keep searching. Family approved. The beef and tofu dish, and the beef noodle soup tasted pretty much the same due to the spices used. Flavorful, kinda oily but that is to be expected. The egg tofu was smooth like custard, but doesn't take up much of the sauce flavor directly. The beef noodle soup was good (again, if you like that flavor) but a chewier noodle or hand shaven would have really set it apart. It was pretty much spaghetti... Though it grabbed the sauce and flavor well so it did work. The last fish was sweet and sour pork, as we tried for something more kid friendly. It was cooked well, thicker meat than in many other places, flavorful and not too thick shell, and sweet sauce. I'd say a little too sweet as near the end of the meal it started to harden into almost a thick caramel but just eat faster! Oh, the appetizers were good! Came here last night. The place was packed which is a good sign. They have a sign in and text system which works for me. Their food cleanliness score is just ok (posted outside on the window) and although the food was clean and I had no issues the pitcher of water on the table looked kinda gross ngl I wouldn't drink from the pitchers. No big deal tho I didn't come here for the water. The sweet and sour pork was great, instead of clumpy mushy balls they were thin strips which allowed for a much better crisp/carmelization ratio and a better taste and texture than most sweet and sour pork's. I really wish every Chinese restaurant did their chicken dishes this way. The spicy boiled beef had a good mixture of spice mixed with the minced garlic and seasoning on top was really flavorful. Shrimp fried noodles hit the spot for my Americanized Chinese taste as well. Overall I found this place better than Tian Fu. Lots of authentic dishes but also stuff for the white folk lol read more

My fiancé and I are not big on Szechuan food but we wanted to see if maybe we can be open to new types of food. We got the special fried rice, chicken wings, Dan Dan noodles, and mapo tofu. The mapo tofu and the Dan Dan noodles were good, but we're just not our type of dishes. The chicken and wings and the fried rice were good. Mid-size Sichuan restaurant in one of the plazas along Northup Way. The inside looks bigger than the storefront would indicate. Clean, simple interior. Was there for an earlier lunch on weekend, and didn't have trouble getting a table. Seems to have filled up but not completely full when we were done. Menu is large and has plenty of offerings, mostly spicy as expected. They have photos for most of the dishes in their menu, which is appreciated. We got the vine pepper fish fillet, the dry pot pork rib for dishes, and asked for low spice. Also got their special fried rice for carbs and their fried mantou (buns) for dessert. Portions are generous, especially for the fish fillets and the fried rice. Both the fish fillet and the dry pot were plenty flavorful even with low spice levels, and also had plenty of fish/meat. The fried rice was milder in flavor, but they put in plenty of ingredients like chicken beef and shrimp. My fave might be the fried mantou though, since the mantou was very fluffy and soft on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside. Dipping it in condensed milk makes for a nice dessert. It was about $70 total, which wasn't too bad considering we had plenty of leftovers. One of the best Sichuan restaurants I've been to in the area. read more
