Donkey Kong Country is such a cute world within Mario! There's lots of DK themed snacks & drinks & photo ops

Donkey Kong Country is one of my favorite themed lands in Epic Universe. I grew up playing the Donkey Kong games on the Super Nintendo and this was one of the areas that I was so excited to go to! It's such a vibrant area in Super Nintendo World. As you exit the Mario themed areas, you'll pass through a hidden entrance on the edge of Super Nintendo World. You'll find yourself surrounded by trees, cascading waterfalls, and the iconic golden temple from the Donkey Kong themed games. In this area, you'll fine Mine Cart Madness ride. It's a family coaster that brings to life the wild mine cart levels from the Donkey Kong Games. You can board the mine carts and embark on an adventure with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, racing through tracks, blasting out of barrels, and even jumping over gaps. The track ride system is one of the most unique in the world. When you're jumping over those areas, it seems like there is no track in front of you. It's so much fun. There is also a single rider line and you can use express pass here too. When I went on a Sunday, I had a chance to go through the single rider line and the wait was less than 30 minutes. The ride was amazing. It's one of my favorites! The land is so immersive. There are meet and greets with Donkey Kong himself near his treehouse. If you have a power up band, you can interact with plenty of items inside Donkey Kong Country, collecting digital coins, unlocking hidden secrets, and engaging in mini games that are similar to the Donkey Kong games. I did try to find all of the missing letters in the area! I did go to Funky's store while I was in the area. The Golden Temple is beautiful and I highly recommend stopping by Donkey Kong Country and the Super Nintendo World at night. The experience is amazing!

Donkey Kong country is located in the brand new Epic Universe theme park. It is a sub area of the Nintendo world portal, way in the back. To be honest, if you did not know it was back there, you might miss it. There are a couple of things to do in this area, including 1 ride, a couple of merchandise shops/stands, a meet and greet, and a food stand serving just ice cream and drinks. A note for this specific area is there is no alcohol in this land. I think it has something to do with the licensing with Nintendo but I personally would love a Nintendo themed cocktail and can think of a ton! To get to this area, you need to go to the back of Nintendo Portal. Head to the ground floor, go past the quick service restaurant and around the corner and then you will see Donkey Kong. This area is small but it is visually beautiful. It truly brings you into the world of Donkey Kong. Since it is so small, I foresee this area getting extremely crowded, it is also very hot, very loud with the Donkey Kong music playing over and over again. We have seen it in the day time and the nighttime and in my opinion, it is prettier during the day, you can see more details during the day as well. But it might be cooler in the evening. For nighttime photos, there are other areas of Epic that are prettier at night. The major attraction back here is Mine Care Madness. I have a separate review for that attraction but this is the ride that makes you feel as though you are jumping the track. The food stand back here is selling ice cream floats in souvenir cups. We didn't get one but it is on our list to definitely try next time we visit. I personally do not eat much sweets, and my wife just did not want one all alone. They are very large sundaes. Overall I think this is a fun area, kids will love it. If you played this game, you will love it. It can be loud and overstimulating for some but it has one of the more popular rides. I personally did not play Nintendo games much and I never played Donkey Kong but for someone who loves those games, this is going to be a great area to visit. Its going to bring so much nostalgia to the surface. I would say check it out, it's just not an area I will head to all the time.

Meeting Donkey Kong is like winning the lottery. If it's too hot, too humid, he doesn't have enough bananas, he will no show his times for coming out to take pics. For Mario/Luigi and Princess Peach the Universal app will tell you the times those characters come out. But once again for DK, it's really hit or miss (mostly miss) and you have to ask the staff working. Sadly the Universal worker that took my photo stood way too far away and didn't zoom in at all. DK is massive, but the photo is practically taken from Mars.

Donkey Kong Country is a small area towards the back of Nintendo World- and is noticeably different from the rest of the world, feeling again like a world inside a world. This is where the popular "Mine-Cart Madness" rollercoaster is. Donkey Kong themed and featuring part where you literally feel like your cart is flying off the tracks, it's a heck of a lot of fun and appropriate for the adults as well as kids to ride. They also have the Bubbly Barrel back here, a unique DK-themed ice cream shop. Here you can get the viral DK Crush Float that comes with a fun souvenir mug. I didn't get to try it but saw a few people with the drink and it looked pretty fabulous. Another interactive part of this area are a drum set you can actually drum on. Drum in the correct way and you may even see a special character join in. Definitely don't miss this part of the part while you visit Nintendo World!

A great part of Epic Universe located inside of Super Nintendo World. I recommend trying to ride the uber popular "Mine Cart Madness" in the early morning (early access recommended) or late at night before the park closes for the shortest wait times as the lines for this one get pretty brutal. The Mine Cart Madness ride is very fun and missing train tracks really add to the experience! 5 stars easily for Donkey Kong Country!

While we had looked at the app with the kids to determine where they wanted to go, we were not very familiar with the map layout of the park and this caused us to lose time getting to some of the rides. We came prepared with crossbody bags with ponchos, fans, cooling towels and collapsible water bottles. I also personally packed liquid IV and some light snacks. I would highly recommend the fans and cooling towels if you go in June because it was soooo hot. I drank water but waiting in line for some of the rides that have an outdoor line truly zaps your energy. I do feel that the lines were managed efficiently and that we got to the rides as quickly as the attendants were able to let us in. I understand that the park is supposed to have multiple worlds but to me, the park is too spaced out and we ended up walking way more than we needed to in order to get to the rides that we wanted to which again was exhausting. Obviously prices were high for an amusement park, which is to be expected and therefore, I tried not to spend money on any snacks or drinks. My bf did buy a refillable cup, which I do think was a good deal.I also recommend bringing liquid IV or something like this or getting gatorade in the refillable cip. Halfway through the day it started pouring down raining and we decided to leave the park at this time, and got soaked heading to the parking garage. A lot of other people were waiting in the stores and while I had ponchos, I feel that I should have gotten better ponchos because those were lightweight and not thick enough to do much against the rain. We went back around 7:00pm when the weather had cleared up. I cannot recommend going in the evening enough, especially during the summer because it is so much cooler. It was also good to go back again during the day or over multiple days because you know where you are going. With the weather it had also made the park less busy and we were able to get into rides with a considerably less wait. I would recommend putting AirTags on your kids if you are going though regardless of how busy the park is just because of how big the park is. Because of the size of the park, the lack of to me clear directions and the lack of more rollercoasters/thrill rides, I am giving this 3 stars. I would go back given the lessons that I have learned to see if it would be more enjoyable.

I had heard from locals that it's a great local option over the big theme parks. Fun Spot was pretty great, for what it was. Free parking, free admission if you don't plan on riding rides, also a discounted adult pass if you only are going on rides with your kid who is too young to ride alone. The whole place was small, maybe the area of a handful of city blocks. And on the Sunday afternoon when we went, the place was quiet enough that we never waited more than a few minutes to get onto a ride. As we were only there for a couple hours, the cashier recommended the 4 ride pass for my kids, and the companion pass for me. But if one were to spend more hours there, buying the day pass online for $59.95 is quite a bargain. Not all rides were open, but the "big" rides that most kids want (the roller coasters and the go carts) were open. My daughter, who is not a big roller coaster fan, had a harder time finding kiddie rides that she actually wanted to go on, and she watched the go carts and didn't even want to try those with me driving. However, the place was small enough that I felt fine leaving my 10 year old son to go on rides by himself while I went on the Ferris wheel or the merry go round with my 8 year old. There are a bunch of food options available throughout the park. They were definitely more affordable than Disney prices! Most of the places offered souvenir cups with discounted refills, but there were also water stations set up throughout with free cups. I'd definitely come back if I had a few hours to burn and the kids didn't want to go swimming. Hopefully at some point, my daughter will change her mind about roller coasters, though!

I walked through the warp pipe entrance and into the land, and that was a genuine moment. The colors, sounds, and scale of everything around me hit immediately in a way that was hard to prepare for even though I knew what to expect. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the music threading through the entire area kept the immersion intact as I moved from one section to the next. Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness is the ride to prioritize and the one that generates the most excitement in the land. I arrived at park open and went straight here, which was the right strategy as the wait times built quickly. Mario Kart is the other major attraction and delivers on the concept, with the Power Up Band integration adding a competitive layer that makes it more than just a passive ride experience. The Power Up Band is worth purchasing before entering the park if I want the full experience. It unlocks interactive elements and mini games scattered throughout the land that let me collect coins, hit question blocks, and track my score on the app. Without it I could still enjoy the rides and the theming, but a meaningful portion of what makes the land special is tied to having one. At around fifty dollars it is an added cost on top of an already expensive day, but for a Nintendo fan it justifies itself quickly. Weekday visits made a noticeable difference in wait times and gave me more room to engage with the interactive elements without feeling rushed. The land rewards people who slow down and explore rather than just moving through it as efficiently as possible, and there is enough packed into the space that I could spend a solid chunk of the day here without feeling like I had exhausted it.
