Wow, this Italian Restaurant is tucked into a strip shopping plaza with a decent amount of free parking. There is some outside seating under umbrellas and a few tables inside but they are pretty close together. There are daily specials on a chalk board inside. The staff was very friendly and the people dining inside looked happy with their food. I did a pick up order of pizza, pasta, chicken parmesan and salad to try a variety of menu items for my first visit. Everything was delicious and I would definitely eat here in the future. They have basic to creative pizza toppings and the pasta could be home made. I was not sure since it was pretty uniform in size. The sauce on the pizza was a little sweet for me but it worked well with the amount of crust to cheese ratio. I would have liked the meat on the pizza to be more plentiful but each slice did have at least one piece of meatball on it. The Greek salad was also very good and had lots of fresh toppings on it. Went out to dinner with another couple who recommended going to dinner at Donna Sarah. I had heard wonderful things about the restaurant and it did not disappoint. Entering the Resturant it was bright, clean and inviting. Very small inside with a few tables outside on the patio. For our main courses, we ordered a chicken Parmesan with linguine, eggplant Parmesan with a side salad, chicken Marcella with a side salad, and lasagna. Portions were large. Warm Crusty bread was fresh and served with butter. The salad was served with a homemade balsamic dressing, which was very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals, which were served right out of the kitchen onto our plates. My eggplant Parm was very tasty. However, I would've liked it better if the eggplant was cut thinner. Came to Donna Sarah on a Saturday evening with no reservation. We initially were turned away, they didnt even give a wait time, just flat out said they had no seating, but then a few seconds later a waitress said she could seat us and we were seated at one of the tables outside (no other tables outside were taken). Definitely make a reservation before coming here to be safe. It's a small place, uncomfortably small, especially when every table is filled up, youre pretty much sitting shoulder to shoulder with a stranger, so just keep that in mind. We ordered garlic sticks, a white pizza with mushrooms, a slice of cheese pizza and the pasta ala vodka. It took 20 minutes from the time we were seated outside before someone came and took our order. We knew they were very busy and were nice enough to seat us anyways, so we couldn't really complain. The food took some time to come out as well, but again, to be expected. They brought out fresh bread and a salad. The garlic sticks were incredible. Very fresh and soft, perfect amount of garlic, cheese and butter/oil. The pizza slice was a good size, pretty standard. Was nice and crispy and heated well. The pasta ala vodka was unlike anything I had before. Was very smokey (which the waitress did say it was), very robust and complex flavors compared to a standard ala vodka, was a pleasant surprise. Was also a nice big portion enough to split between two people, with perfectly al dente pasta. The white pizza was excellent. Very cheesy, the mushrooms added a nice earthy balance, the crust was delightful and it wasn't wet or soggy like other white pizza I've had in the past. Unfortunately, we didnt get refills because we weren't checked on at all throughout the meal, probably because we were seated outside. While I thoroughly enjoyed the food, I really wish they would've stuck with their original decision to turn us away. This probably could've been a 5 star experience, and the servers were really nice, but unfortunately because we were seated outside, it was like we didnt exist. With all we ordered, plus 3 fountain drinks and a capri sun, the total came to $71.05. As I mentioned, the food was great, however, the service was lacking. If youre going to go above and beyond (which we appreciated!) to accommodate us, despite not having a reservation, then treat us the same as all the other patrons who were checked-in on and received refills throughout their meal. While the quality of the food justified the price of the meal, it wasn't the best experience. I would be back to try other menu items, but learn from my mistakes. So we had to go. I knew I wanted the chicken marsala in advance based off the pictures from others on Yelp. Andrea ordered it too and we both loved it! The sauce is truly incredible. They gave so much chicken. The side of pasta was good, but could have used more sauce. I absolutely loved Mom (Nola's) side of pasta. The sauce is homemade and was delectable. I will be thinking of that pasta for a while. I also took some bites of her chicken parm. This was very good but I prefer my chicken marsala. But I prefer her pasta. But the flavors don't really go together. Confusing... The side salad was good. The balsamic dressing was delicious, but there wasn't much of it. The salad was also kind of small. I am very happy to have eaten at this restaurant. The food was excellent. I ordered a lunch special but my friend Andrea told me they entree is the same size as the dinner portion. I did miss a salad. However, there was more than enough food to eat. So much I took home quite a bit. My chicken parmesan was so delicious. The sauce was very flavorful and the cheese was outstanding. I really enjoyed the rigatoni with fresh marinara sauce. It had some garlic but was not too much for me. They use the same sauce for the chicken parmesan and the rigatoni. Everything is fresh. The garlic bread was also very good. We ordered zeppoles for dessert. I really liked these because they were not overly sweet. We were given a huge portion. Sarah, one of the owners is pleasant and accommodating. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. We've been here many times but hadn't visited in a while, so it was great to be back. I ordered the chicken hoagie (no cheese) along with a side of rigatoni and sauce--everything was so good and full of flavor. One of the best parts of coming here is how welcoming the owners always are. Donna served us, and Philippe was in the kitchen cooking. They truly make you feel at home. This place serves an outrageos amount of food. Some appetizers looked like a meal for 2 people. Most items are not traditional, they are somewhat of a fusion. The restaurant is very clean and the service is very good. I found most dishes to be over sauced, this doesn't mean that they are bad. There is an overabundance of cheese as well, from the mozzarella sticks, to just about any main meal. I would highly recommend an entree for every 2 people. The smokey sauce is rather unique and it's going to be a love it or hate it type of taste. Desserts were a diabetic coma waiting to happen...nothing is small and nothing is calorie conscious. They surprisingly don't have iced tea. Not open on Monday or Tuesdays so please keep that in mind. An amazing new place in Davie that everyone needs to learn about. This family owned mom, pop and son restaurant is the former Jersey John's. French owned Italian food that has some fusion was something I didn't know I loved until I ate here. I will say, getting the bad out of the way first, is something I need to do. The wait times here are insane, it will take you some time to get food and your order because everything is cooked by one or two people, the husband and someone else. The bread that is delivered to the table was phenomenal and the cheese was heavenly as well. The bread had a nice crunch to it and was still soft on the inside. We ordered the calamari and I have never had such a flavorful dish. The breading was wonderful with the right amount of crunch to it and the homemade marinara sauce was divine as well, without being to tomato forward. The garlic sticks appetizer was amazing and the amount of garlic on the bread was wonderful! For my main dish, I got the chicken francese. This was a homerun. I have never had better francese in my life! The lemon was superb and was the right amount of tanginess. It had a nice consistency to it and paired well with the chicken. The chicken was also very good and a generous portion! The pasta bed it came on also had much of the sauce on it which was amazing as well! I will say though the amount of time it took to get the food is something that may make or break this place for most people, but scratch made food, I was okay with it. I couldn't wait to try this place after reading so much about it. So, my cousin-in-law and I went there for lunch. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It's a very small eatery with lovely checkered tablecloths and great service. While I opted for the chicken marsala, my favorite non-dairy Italian dish, my cousin-in-law ordered the fettuccine Alfredo without meat. The latter was tasty and very cheesy. (I did try a small bite.) The lunch special came with a small, soft garlic loaf. My dinner entree came with a small salad (no raw onions please) with lettuce, raw peppers (had to pick them out), and tomatoes. The balsamic dressing was tasty but there was so little of it I was practically eating a dry salad. I guess I should have asked for more dressing. My entree came with three large pieces of what looked like chicken breast cutlet and it was laden with mushrooms. I was greeted with blandness after taking my first bite of the chicken. I had to ask for salt and pepper and was told by the server that they don't salt their food as she handed me a platter of spices. (It is easier to add salt than remove it.) The sauce on the marsala was good but looked very white. I was enjoying it until I asked the server if it contained milk. (I am lactose-intolerant.) "Oh no, " she said. Then added, "it's French style marsala made with cream." I had to stop eating my meal and took the rest home for my hubby. I have eaten marsala in a ton of places and different countries and I have never had it with cream. (Nor did I think I would have to note my lactose-intolerance when ordering it.) There is a big sign that says "Under New Management," so I don't know if the cuisine others were raving about was this French Italian one, or the prior owners. Unfortunately, for me, there isn't much left on their menu that I can eat if I can't have a lactose-free marsala meal. My dinner entree with tax and tip was a little more than $28. My cousin-in-law paid about $19 for her meatless lunch special, including tax and tip. read more

Hello everyone! Well I was in the area and decided to stop by again and I had a craving for some awesome Italian food and let me tell you that Donna Sarah never disappoints! You really cannot beat the quality of the food, excellent and courteous service they provide. Philippe and Sarah really do a great job of making you feel at home and you have to love Sal who is cooking up some awesome pizzas as well. Ambiance is awesome as well as the vibe of the restaurant really lends itself to kicking back, relaxing and enjoying your meal. Everything is very clean and from what I can tell the kitchen is spotless. On this occasion I had the Chicken Parmigiana lunch special again but I am pretty sure that the everything else on the menu has to be great as well. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and four stars. It's a very small place, and they were very accommodating. They let change our reservation from two people to four people at the last minute. The biggest problem with this place is the service. It's very slow. As for the food is enjoyed what I had. We started with some calamari, it was definitely different from other places. It seemed like it was cut into pieces of steak as opposed to rings and tentacles. It was good. I had lasagna, I enjoyed it. My friend had mushrooms soup and chicken marsela. My husband and I ate at Donna Sarah in Davie, FL. The name caught my eye while driving by. My husband was skeptical as the plaza it's located in is not usually a busy one. We were both pleasantly surprised. The hostess, Sarah, was friendly and so pleasant. She helped me pick between two choices that I couldn't decide on. She also gave mouth watering descriptions of their dessert menu. The restaurant was clean and the decor is simple. While we decided in what to have, we enjoyed the freshly baked french bread with butter. We started with the Fried Calamari. It was tender and juicy. The dipping sauce was not typical marinara. The sauce was fresh and tomatoey but was not acidic at all. It had a wonderful, velvety texture to it. My husband had the pasta carbonara. It was rich and creamy and did not skimp on the bacon. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Marsala. The chicken was perfectly cookeded and the mushrooms were sauteed perfectly. They had enough if a crisp bite without becoming rubbery. The thick sauce coated the accompanying pasta so that when it all came together, it created a perfect bite. It's a family run business and Sarah's daughter was also there working and helping take care of us. Sarah's husband, Philippe, is the chef. Took my mom here for her birthday. I read online that they only had a few tables so to be safe on a Fri night, I called to see if we could reserve a table. I was met with kindness and reassurance and we were able to reserve one. Everything was amazing. The bread they bring out (missing pic) was fantastic, the house salad had the best dressing ever and was actually eaten (most house salads aren't so good so they go to waste), the mozzarella sticks (1/2 were eaten in the pic) were very well worth the $15 and my mom had the marsala and loved it while I opted for the Margherita pizza. Next time I will try the chicken parm as they deliver to table directly from the pan. I even found my new favorite pinot grigio here. For dessert we ordered the canoli as this is my mom's favorite dessert... I usually hate canoli, but decided to try it and it was amazing. The chef comes around and shakes everyone's hands. I noticed a table with only 2 teenagers and I was hoping he would also go to their table and shake their hand (teenagers are often overlooked), and he did which shows true respect to every customer. So happy to have found this new addition to the neighborhood! I do want to say that they've only been here a very short time and the one and two stars reviews that are here are NOT for Donna Sarah, they are for the Jersey John's restaurant that was here before. For starters we ordered calamari which I don't eat but the rest of the people I was with really enjoyed. We also ordered the garlic sticks which were so good. Lightly brushed with what seemed to be an olive oil and butter mix and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese on top, these were hard to stop eating! We were served salads and we all opted for the homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing along with some absolutely delicious fresh, homemade bread with a delicious compound butter. For our entrees we ordered chicken Marsala, chicken francaise, sausage and peppers over pasta and penne Al vodka. Full disclosure, we actually ate here two nights in a row (that's how much we enjoyed) and the first night we had the Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Marsala. Every dish was just wonderful and full of flavor, especially the Chicken Marsala which is something I usually don't even like. The sauce here is absolutely incredible not sweet at all and has loads of mushrooms on it. The only dish I tried that I wasn't crazy about was the pasta al vodka. There wasn't anything wrong with it. It's just that it seemed to have balsamic vinegar in it, which I wasn't a fan of because it made it too sweet. The chef/owners and their son and super sweet. The only reason I took off one star is because the service was a little scattered but I'm sure that since it's a fairly new restaurant they will get that worked out. Oh this restaurant is a gem! We've been here at least half a dozen times. Everything is scrumptious. The desserts are a must! (and I'm not a sweets person). The customer service is always warm and welcoming. The whole family that runs the restaurant is always great about checking in and making you feel at home. The food is stellar. Cooper City is not known for its culinary scene. This is one of the better restaurant experiences I've had in Florida. Classic mom and pop family dining vibes. Smaller dining room and big portions. Very friendly atmosphere and culture. There's so much care for the guests and the food vastly exceeded my expectations. Great value for the price. Try and save room for dessert. What an incredible experience! From the moment my family and I walked in, we were blown away by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I felt like we were part of their family, not just customers. The chef personally greeted us when we sat down and even brings out the dishes himself with a little presentation flair, such a special touch! We ordered a chianti but Sara recommended another Red that was delish so we got that. They bring homemade complementary crusty bread to table with a nice garlic butter served on a cute marble plate. Donna Shara is a wonderful Italian restaurant owned by a French family. Husband & son do the cooking, wife and daughters take care of the front. Seem odd, maybe, but the French influence on their Italian food here is very real! Food was tremendous, not good, but fantastic! Save your time with the regular menu (although their Calzones & Stromboli look incredible) order from the blackboard daily specials. I ordered the Chicken Parm ala vodka and it is the best I ever tasted. Large flattened chicken breast with breading and cheese surrounded by a smoky almost sweet tomato vodka sauce. They serve it table side (as they do all parm dishes) banging the bottom of the pan to get everyone's attention. It was soooo good. Also Caesar salad on breaded chicken was a wonderful combination of flavor and an inspiring take on chicken Caesar salad. More wine choices than beer (only 3 beers available) but it is only a device to rinse and repeat for your next bite of food! No garlic rolls here, it is French bread and homemade garlic butter. Save room for dessert if you can! Make reservations, especially on the weekends as inside area is only about 10 tables (there are several tables outside in the courtyard too). Just like in a real Italian restaurant (in Italy), everything takes time, so a two hour dinner is not a stretch! This place is yummy, fun, reasonably priced and well worth a try. Can't say enough good things about this place! Being greeted like family, the AMAZING FOOD, with awesome portions. Felt like we were dining in Italy, cozy atmosphere and cute little place settings.
