I've been taking my Honda Fit into them for 10 years, and they've always treated it and me right. They always have whatever work my car needs done the same day. Carol suggested that I buy a part online at a much lower price since they were forced to order that part from Honda and they installed it for me. One time when I had a weird sound in my wheel. I pulled right in, and they put it up onto lift, found a loose part rolling around in my hub cap, checked the brakes, and had me out of there in 10 minutes and charged me $30. They have good mechanics, but horrendous prices. Who charges $250 for an oil change?? I requested just a basic oil change for my 20 year old car, with nothing fancy needed. I expected it would be about $100 like everywhere else. I had no idea they would be more than double what other good quality shops charged. Without asking me, they installed 2 air filters for $60, added $15 extra for fluids, and said "we didn't charge for labor" while adding a $65 labor cost. When I questioned the charges, the lady at the front desk got so mad she started yelling at the mechanics to pull out the air filters and just walked away, as if I was at fault. I first went here a couple of months ago because of brake noise that started after I had my brakes done. I was hearing a persistent whooshing or whistling sound from the rear. Around the same time, I was also dealing with smog issues where the OBD couldn't be read, along with a check engine light, so I asked them to look at everything together. I was told the check engine light was likely related to an oil change and that everything looked fine. The only actual work that seems to have been done was an oil change and replacing one light bulb. Unfortunately, my check engine light is still on, the OBD issue is still not resolved so I still can't pass smog, and the brake noise never went away. It felt like my concerns were not thoroughly investigated. I understand that not every issue is simple, but I paid to have these problems checked and none of the original concerns were resolved. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them. read more

I had issues with a misfiring cyclinder and a few other problems with the timing belt that were causing a rough ride at idle. Don, the owner went far beyond my expectations to insure my need for a pre purchase inspection could be met. When he himself couldn't get it done in time that worked for me (coming in from SLO), he not only told me where I should go and who to ask for, but went to the trouble of calling the other business to tell them to take good care of me, because I was his client. I really don't understand how anyone could give this place a bad review. My experience at Dons has always been fantastic. They are super friendly and helpful (even when I show up at 7a). When I've called in, I get really useful advice, and sometimes their suggestions save me money over what others have recommended. But my favorite story was from a couple of years ago - when I got in my car to go see my mom for her bday my battery was shot. Neighbor gave me a jump and I took it straight to Dons. I told them about my plans - asked for a time estimate so I could decide whether to cancel or just adjust my plans for mom's bday. They told me they'd get it done in time for me to still go or lend me a car so I don't have to cancel - because mom has to be priority. read more

The staff at Don's are honest, attentive, great customer service. They will go out of their way to accommodate you. They are quick and to the point with the goal of getting you safely back on the road as soon as possible. I had an issue with a small piece hanging underneath my car caused by a screw cap falling off. Never trust anyone who says 'trust me" BUT when a reviewer says that they LOVE their mechanic, trust them. My Honda needed to have it's airbags replaced by the dealer. While I was taking care of this, I asked about my next major service, thinking I would have it taken car of at the same time at the dealership. Well here are some nice people. I called them to see if I could make a Smog appointment. The woman informs me they no longer do smog tests because their machines broke and the cost to update and fix them is in the tens of thousands.
