Fantastic. Renzo is a great dude that runs this shop, and his family has been running it for years. YEARS. They have a BankAmericard logo out front, which was the first credit card in the 1960's. Do not expect a cheap mechanic, but expect a great mechanic that will explain everything to you. 0% bullshit. They do modern cars no problem. He has gotten me free repairs from the dealer on my 10yo car because he knew what was up. I am so sad that I'm leaving San Francisco, but this guy has my business forever. read more

Very unfortunate, got a nail few blocks away and need a tire patch. Mail in the middle of the tire which is repairable. I been driving for many years and I went to many different auto shop/ tire shop. I know the price range and this place OVERCHARGED. $50 for pull one nail out and simply just patch it. job done in 15 mins. I always support local business but DONT try to be a greedy businessman. Now that Claudio has passed on, his son Renzo is running the shop. I'm almost 50 years of driving and owning cars this is only one of two trustworthy and fair mechanics I have run across. My alternator went out over the holidays and Renzo went out of his way to fit me in for repairs. No matter how far and wide you may search, you will never find anyone like Renzo at Claudio's. My take is that he is the son of Claudio and took over his dad's business. Renzo is the epitome of honesty and genuine care. I don't think his hardwiring would allow him to cheat or deceive. That said, Claudio's is the last of the old-fashioned auto repair shop operating honestly because of him. Going through all of the businesses I've been to now that I can write Yelp reviews. Claudios is great. Lorenzo (Renzo?) is a fantastic mechanic. I've been bringing my car there and only there for years. My dad has been bringing the same car for almost a decade. The place is slightly pricier than others, but I think it's worth it because they don't upsell you on services you don't need. Renzo has been super upfront about the work that needs to be done on my car and when it should be fixed. He just saw my car last week before a road trip and told me "X should be fixed but you don't gotta worry about that now." The honesty is why I pay a little extra for his work. He keeps my car clean when he's working and puts down plastic seat covers and such so nothing gets dirty. Very respectful to the car and the customer. Will absolutely always be my #1 auto shop. read more

We got stranded with a flashing check-engine-light in San Francisco. Randomly picked Claudio's Auto Repair from yelped garages near us and could not have lucked out more. The owner (?) Renzo took us in, even though he was short on staff, thoroughly checked the car, gave us an estimate and had the problem fixed by the evening. Not without calling twice during the day to let us know how it went. Seriously, if he was my mechanic in LA I wouldn't tell anybody for fear that he'd become too popular. Claudio's has earned my trust over the years and continue to do so, including this week when they looked over a used car I was about to buy without any notice - despite being overbooked - and doing so without charging me a dime. I am guessing that *you* are not a customer, and have never been one. I am guessing that *you* are associated with a competitor who is on the brink of failure because of incompetence, and all your friends are going to Claudio's (as they should). I'm also guessing English is not your first language. That's AOK, but I would suggest that if you are going to defame someone in public, that you should at least have someone review your language to make sure you don't sound like a dumb ass. Unless you actually are a dumb ass, which of course you obviously are. You don't cite a single instance of poor service. No matter how you respond to this, I'm fairly certain you've never even stepped foot into Claudio's. The first time I've ever felt like I've gotten more than I paid for from a mechanic. Limped my 98 Camry off 280 to the first place I could find following catastrophic engine failure, thank God I happened to land at Claudio's. Claudio and Renzo worked around my work and travel schedule for the week, explained everything in great detail via email, and had the Old Girl in the best shape she's been in for ten years. They fixed an oil leak (most likely responsible for the failure) that two other mechanics had said would be impossible and wasn't worth touching, fixed the engine, and topped and tuned everything up. I have a '66 Mustang that I stored in my basement and neglected for years. I finally decided to get it up and running again, but was leery about taking it to just any repair shop because of the fear of being taken advantage of. After reading the Yelp Reviews for Claudio's Auto Repair, I decide to take a chance on them. BEST DECISION I MADE THIS YEAR! Renzo was AMAZING. He gave me a very detailed description of the work that needed to be done and why. He explained what needed to be done right away, and what could wait. He broke down the cost in terms of the actual repairs, so I could decide which repairs I wanted to go forward with. The prices were so reasonable, I questioned how much would it be with the labor added. I was STUNNED when Renzo told me that the prices he quoted INCLUDED the labor!!!! He did a FANTASTIC job with the repairs! After I got the car back I realized the CD (yes CD, lol) player wasn't working. Apparently a CD was stuck in it and because it sat for years without being used, I couldn't get it out. I asked Renzo if that was something he could do if I brought the car back and he said he could try. I received a call a couple of days later letting me know that he did have success with getting the CD out and the radio was working again! When I asked him how much it would be for the job, he told me, "Don't worry about it". WHAT? Do you mean to tell me that there are actually Mechanics in this world that would do work for NO CHARGE!!!! Unbelievable! I can't say enough positive things about Renzo and my experience with Claudio's Auto Repair. I strongly advise you to go to Claudio's if you every need any car repair. Claudio and his son Renzo have been taking care of me for the past 10 years+ and over the years I have only taken my cars to this shop. So far they've worked on my Mercedes Benz , Monte Carlo, and my even my Honda although they specialize in European motors. They do great work and most importantly are honest with their estimates. Amazing! Renzo is awesome. He is speedy with repairs, gives you an update prior to making his repairs (allows you to make the approval). My father is a former diesel mechanic so I've been in a grease monkey's garage and RENZO has the cleanest shop I've ever been too. He also presents himself well with great customer service and a smile. I moved to SF back in October and had an immediate need for a mechanic. Growing up with my father, I was always taught to not trust every mechanic but to really shop around. Meeting Renzo, seeing his shop, and getting updates completely gained my trust. We've been taking our car to Claudio's since 2005 and they have always been great. A family business, Claudio and his son Renzo are polite to a point, efficient, accurate, and a pleasure to work with. I just dropped my car off this morning and Renzo knows my and my wife's full names, remembers the work they did on this car 9 months ago, etc. When we were pretty sure that something was wrong with the coolant system, they checked it out and couldn't find anything--and didn't charge us anything. Many places would charge you $120 to run the same check. The only con that I can think of would be that because it's a smaller business in the Excelsior district, the drop-off and pick-up window can be tight. As long as we have a car in San Francisco, we'll be taking it to Claudio's. read more

Claudio's was recommended to my by a friend in the neighborhood, and I think they are just great. They are very thorough, fair-priced and responsible. I had a bad part from them (axle bearing thingie) which they replaced right away free of charge. When I was having some major work done, they found and fixed some minor problems that I hadn't even mentioned. If it was in my bill I didn't notice - it seemed very reasonable to me considering the work. The staff is wonderful - very polite and careful (a previous review says "in an old-world way" with which I agree). Usually it's been the son helping me, and I have no idea how he stays so clean considering how much he gets done. Even the handwriting on my bill is meticulous and easy to read - that's a first! I'm torn between praising them because they deserve it - and saying nothing so I might get less competition for attention! Claudio and Renzo, Claudio's son, are super professional, honest and considerate. I've never seen any mechanics like them. They treat my car like theirs. Unlike other auto repair shops, their shop is very organized. The pricing is more than reasonable! More importantly, they are very knowledgeable and don't charge you for parts that don't need to be replaced. I just bought a car today! I came in to get a couple issues with my car sorted out and boy am I glad I chose to come here. There are many auto repair shops all over the city and you never know which ones are legit and which ones will try to hoax you for your money. Renzo and Claudio at Claudio's Auto Repair are honest and genuine mechanics running a clean shop with great auto service. The moment I met Renzo I could tell he was a genuinely polite and honest guy with an eye for detailed auto care. They fixed my wheel bearing problem, my fog light that had come out of its housing, found a nail in my tire and patched it up, and also cleaned off some corrosion building up on my battery.
