Brought in my bike for derailleur adjustment because it was skipping a cog. I was in and out in 15 minutes. When I got home I cycled through all gears only to realize that it was still "off". I took it back the next morning and was advised that the derailleur arm was bent slightly. Charlie fixed it in about the same amount of time as the day before. This time I rode around the lot to cycle through each gear several times and it was as smooth or better than when it was new. COVID19-Thank you to the team at Don's Bikes for 1. Staying open during these difficult times 2. Keeping customers and staff safe by enforcing distancing guidelines 3. Keeping all of us riders rolling so that we can "ride out" COVID19! Tune up- I don't know if ANY shop offering free tune ups for as long as you own the bike you purchased from Don's. I had a great experience at Don's Bicycles. I purchased a 2017 SE Racing Stu Thompson replica, and I love the bike. While making adjustments to my bike, I watched as the guys took care of every single customer, whether they were browsing, purchasing, or walked in with bikes that needed a new chain, and a few other things. There was no hours or days wait time, they took care of the issues on the spot if it wasn't major work. Everyone there was friendly, and knowledgeable. They have a great selection products, bike racks, add on, and numerous bikes to choose from, especially SE Racing, which you can't get cooler than those. Every time I've called or went into Don's, I've received the best customer service! I've bought my son two bicycles, my daughter two bicycles, my nephew one bicycle and myself two bikes because I've went from a hybrid to a road bike and the kids grow out their bikes eventually. All my tune ups are free as long as I own the bike! I've grown up living next to Don's but as an adult I moved out of the area and if I need something for my bike I will make the drive to Don's bike shop. Just today I stopped to buy a new saddle bag. I drove to Don's Bikes from San Diego because of their selection of 2011 carbon 105 bikes in my size. I'm so glad I did. They spent a lot of time explaining the pros and cons of different brands, gave me test rides. I ended up buying a Cannondale bicycle. They did a free fitting and have lifetime FREE tune ups. Scott (the owner - Don's son) and Adrian took the time to help me pick the right bike and accessories. My husband is going to take Scott's hill climbing workshop. I have purchased three bikes at this shop over the past few years. When I first got into cycling, I didn't want anything too serious, so I purchased a hybrid. I didn't know any better, but had the salesperson at Don's pushed me toward a road bike then, I would have walked out. And that would have been a great loss in my life! After putting a couple thousand miles on the hybrid, I decided to buy a road bike from E-Bay. I still had to bring it into Don's for tune-ups and bicycle labor isn't cheap. Even though the road bike wasn't a "Don's" bike, I was treated kindly and my bike was expertly serviced by their mechanics. I finally bought my first carbon road bike at Don's in 2010. I walked in ready to spend a bunch of money, but Wayne and Scott made sure I found a carbon road bike that fit my wants, needs, and (most importantly) my budget. On this bike, I have had the best riding experiences of my life. Any time there has been the slightest problem (I put a lot of miles, wear and tear on my road bike), I take it in, and my bike is serviced as quickly as possible (I don't believe I've ever had to leave it overnight). The service and knowledge level there is outstanding. This Christmas, when I went shopping for a road bike for my daughter, I tried to be a good capitalist and shop around for price. I looked at a couple of shops, but wasn't really helped. When I took my daughter to Don's, she was treated really well--she got to test ride with a champion racer (owner Scott McAfee), and was fitted to her bike by him. He had a way of getting her comfortable with the operation of the bike. Of course, we bought her bike there, and I know if there is ever an issue, as there often is with mechanical things, I can take it in for a quick look. The difference between a bike that sits in a garage and one that is ridden all of the time is whether or not you got the right bike--does it fit? There are so many brands with so many shapes and sizes, it takes an expert to get you on the right machine. Don's Bikes is a place where the experts take time to meet customers where they're at. Well, I'm sorry to say I was disappointed with the service . I took my 65 year old dad's trike to have some bearings replaced . The tall service man working on it was rather rude with a side of sarcasm . He gave me back the bike with loose handle bars , loose mirrors, and parts of the electric motor ( installed on bike) broke off. Would it really damper your day to ,if not tighten them out of courtesy ,at least a warning of what still needs attention . Pretty disappointed. We talked to Scott (the owner) on the phone. Gave him the part we needed. He said the replacement could be anywhere from $45-$85 out the door. We get there and he doesn't have the part that he said he would have and then said we could upgrade to the tune of $125+. When I asked if he was able to work with us at all (it's my teenage brothers bike who had already put a lot of money into fixing it) he said no he's not able to flex at all (even though he's the store owner?). It's a long drive for us and we were given the run around. Not only that but none of the staff were practicing safe COVID procedure (none of them including the owner were wearing mask and having all the guests shoulder to shoulder inside the business) AND the staff members were being vulgar and obscene in front of kids inside the store and letting their friends who weren't employees go behind the service counter messing with customers bikes. I don't know if the owner doesn't care, or if he is just too gutless to intervene but one way or another I'm going to avoid this place and recommend others against it read more

My review is long overdue. I never owned a folding bike before let alone a regular bike because I always borrowed my neighbor's. I got a folding bike literally 2 months after the pandemic started in 2020. All the gyms were closed. I'm glad I bought my bike at that time because inflation rose everything thing up including bikes that cost a little bit more now due to supply and demand. I also purchased a bike pump the same day in 2020. Never got to use it until recently. A guy with his mask looks like Keanu Reeves because of the hairstyle from John Wick. I didn't recognize him with his mask off when I needed my bike serviced who also happens to look like Quentin Tarantino with no mask on. Thanks Steve..I mean Keanu. I'm glad he recognized me when I finally got to use my bike pump for the 1st time last week. That's crazy I haven't been to this shop in a year since I purchased my bike. I failed to realize it was broken so I got one in exchange for free with warranty. I never had a flat on my tires after all. Good people. Ken went above and beyond normal service. They did not have in stock one small piece for me to install a seat onto my bike and we're going to order it for me. Not a problem to me at all. But then can when looking through a box and found the two pieces I would need and literally gave it to me for free because they were scrapped spare pieces in perfect condition. I will be back tomorrow to purchase some parts for my son's bike. Service like that is what makes a person like me not look anywhere else going forwards for any of my needs for bikes. Dons bicycle employees are a bunch of con artists. I took my 2015 trek slash 8 and they pretty much said after 3 years my bike was pretty trash. They offered a 500 dollar fix that wouldn't last more than a year. I took my bike elsewhere and they fixed it, no problem and for half the price... Won't give this place any more of my money. Unfortunately I bought my bike here and I regret it. I bought my bike Monday and I was told it would be ready Wednesday. I messaged Dons bikes on Wednesday and got no response. I called them on Thursday and they said it would be ready on Friday morning. At 12:30pm on Friday, I called again, and they said it would be ready some time today.
