The food: We have been coming here for many years and I am sad to report that the quality keeps declining. We ordered two pounds of king crab leg and three pounds of crawfish, and it was not good. The quality of the seafood was not consistent. 1/8 pieces of crayfish we're excellent, but the rest were either freezer burned or super overcooked and mushy. We asked for the crafty cajun spice with the spice level at the hottest, which is fire and it was nowhere near spicy at all. It was $110 for 2 lbs of king crab legs which is a deal but the quality was just okay. Not amazing or packed with meat and a bit flimsy. Tips: 1. If I could give a 0 star, I would. The service was beyond slow and just very poor overall. The surroundings were pleasant, however a horrible smell was lingering through the restaurant. Getting our check took just over 30 minutes with the restaurant being practically empty. My order came to me missing crab and sausage, so we sent it back just for it to still be missing the sausage. Got 1.5 lb crawfish boil, Cajun seasoned, hottest spice level. I used to live in NOLA, so I know what a Cajun crawfish boil should be. The Bad: - not spicy enough - flavor is not boiled into the critters, sucking the heads does not yield that spicy, umami-laden crawfish broth. Same goes for flavor in the tail meat. Redeeming factor here is that there was a giant pool of seasoning in the bottom of the bag that the meat, heads, potatoes could be dipped into. - many of the crawfish were small - took a long time to get the check The Neutral: - flavor profile is skewed too far toward Old Bay (unsurprising, considering it's Maryland) - cute, that it's served with drawn butter, pick, shell cracker, and bib/gloves - they don't purge their crawfish - there was a hint of sweetness in the seasoning - music was a bit loud so it'd be difficult to hold a dinner conversation This was nowhere near authentic as a Cajun crawfish boil. I have experienced a couple of other place that do boils in MD, baby my boil was . I got the daily special which included an Alaskan crab cluster, shrimp , corn , red potatoes, and eggs . I'm not an egg person so they switched it for corn . I got the Cajun seasoning medium spice. Everything was seasoned to perfection and I didn't need to use any of the extra butter they serve with it. There's a lot of food in the bag and I ended up getting it wrapped to go home. Btw, they wrap your left overs nicely so you don't have to worry about any leaks from your food on the home. I decided to check Craft Crab out as I was in the area. I appreciate them for being open during Corona. They had a 4 person limit. You go in either to pick up your call in or online order . If you're ordering there, you place your order and then wait in your car . It took about 25 minutes to get our meals . I thought the prices were comparable to similar establishments. I ordered the half pound shrimp (no heads) and half pound crab legs with the medium The BOOM sauce . It was delicious. The crab legs were kind of tiny compared to other places I've been . We also order a pound of crab legs and a pound of shrimp with the heads in the mild lemon pepper sauce . I wasn't a big of that sauce fan but he enjoyed his meal. The food and service were great, but the female security guard with glasses and a red bush was unnecessarily RUDE! Crafty crab closes as 11pm. The security guard announced every couple of minutes starting at 10:40pm that they were closing. After eating our meal (which we started at 10pm and others even came after us), I went to the restroom at 10:48. She followed me into the restroom and repeated that they were closing, I responded "okay". Seconds after returning to my table, I did not sit, my partner stood up and handed me our to-go bag in preparation to leave and she felt the need to say to my partner "Sir, we're closed" (even though it was 10:53pm). I told her the time and asked her what would've happened if I had to actually sit and use the restroom. She said I should have went earlier. After I said her rushing us and additional comments were unnecessary, she started to cut me and my partner off while we were speaking by saying she did not have to explain anything to us. While leaving, our waitress, who was great, apologized about the security guard. Took a take out where I ordered the fried calamari and buffalo chicken wings. I would say I liked the chicken much better than the calamari. The calamari was not crisp enough and had a very bitter after taste. I was disappointed with the calamari considering Crafty Crab is supposed to be fresh seafood restaurant. I tried looking up as to why the calamari would have a bitter after taste and it said that the squid meat needs to be soaked couple of hours to remove the bitter taste. We came here to see what the fuss was all about. And upon our entry, we had to wait for service and then was finally greeted and taken to a booth. We glanced the menu and decided to order; I had the shrimp and crab combo broil, mussels and clam combo broil as well as calamari as an appetizer. The portion size for the calamari was on the small size compared to other places we have eaten, and cost way more. I will say the broils were flavorful and the atmosphere here was all the way live with entertainment of those celebrating birthdays. They turn up the music and celebrate the birthday guest. Four of us came here for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. The menu is not very descriptive and I ordered a mysterious Shrimp Salad. It came with cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries, iceberg lettuce and was topped with fried shrimp. For no apparent reason, they only supply tiny little containers of salad dressing-- get 2 or more. The salad was fine, the shrimp is yummy, but there is no spice on the shrimp which seemed weird for an alleged Cajun restaurant. Obviously, the seafood boils are the appeal here, not really my thing. A few weeks ago I decided to try this place out. I went approximately 30 minutes prior to them closing, so thankfully, I just made their cut off point for taking orders. I'm not sure if they allow this, but I didn't ask. I'd recommend you ask if you're not sure either. Despite my indecisiveness, the young woman at the front taking orders was very helpful and very patient. I love this kind of service! I went with the option that combines all of the sauces. It took approximately 15 minutes for my food to be ready. I decided to take it to go since they were closing soon. After trying the food, I realized that I didn't like the sauce I chose, mostly because the Cajun seasoning was too robust (in my opinion) for the seafood. If I ever decide to go again, I wouldn't get the one combined sauces nor would I order the Cajun sauce. Your sauce selection really just comes down to personal choice. As far as the food is concerned, it was pretty good for the cost. There was plenty of food, so I had leftovers for lunch, which makes the cost even better when you can spread one $20 meal out over two days. I can be frugal like that at times. Overall, I give it 3 stars. I'm not sure if I'll return, but if I'm invited to eat there by a friend or family member, I'd be fine with going. read more

I really hope this place does well. We came in on Saturday afternoon at 12pm for lunch and it was empty. The service was great, very warm and attentive. My daughter loved her kids meal of juice, sweet potato fries, and chicken tenders. I ordered the fried oyster basket and received 12 oysters of medium size and plenty of fries. A great deal for less than $12. My wife got the fried shrimp basket and loved it. We all shared hush puppies. Everything was tasty and fresh and it was obvious that the food was all fried to order and that the fry oil was also fresh and clean. Next time we'll try the Cajun seafood boil bags. We got a large platter to share for five people and it was a good amount of food. We weren't uncomfortably full, but we were happily full. We got the large platter with fire spice level and boom seasoning, it wasn't super buttery but the seasoning was really tasty. It came with snow crab legs, shrimp, clam, mussels, corn, and potatoes. I've been to a lot of " seafood boil " places this year so far and each one has it own different taste and vibe' which is great because now you have options when you have cravings! The location is great, the inside is big. There was a wait time which wasn't long, getting the food you thought it would be fast because your just getting your " seafood boil " but our wait time for the food was at least 25-30mins tops ! When the food did come some things weren't right and was fixed right away. As well as our food didn't come out hot, and it was very obvious before it arrives to the tables the bag is like a hot air ballon because the bag has air in it ours looked sad and warm but we ask the server if she could fix the problem and she did. Besides being a nag (when you want, what you want I mean I can't complain) we ended up enjoying the food and loved it! Would I go back yes, maybe a earlier time in the day. We went for my son's 21st birthday on Dec 11th. The service was great. The food was sub-par. I think Crabs in Baltimore should always be on point. The seasoning was mediocre at best. There are copy cat restaurants popping up all over Baltimore which are comparable to Hot n Juicy (in DC) but if the seasoning isn't right it doesn't make sense. Presentation of the food is great but its bland. Finally just as we paid for the check a major fight broke out. We were forced with our children and grandchildren into the beverage area to wait out the brawl of tables and chairs being thrown. It was horrible. Probably a 3.5 in my book, i ordered the snow crab legs and shrimp w/head (1/2 pound each), along with their boom sauce/spicy but to me that was ok on the spice level. The boom sauce is pretty good a tad watery but really good. The potatoes could have been cooked longer and was an after thought, the corn was delicious. The shrimp were ok, and the crab i felt probably sat for some time so it was a little mushy. We read all the reviews and were anxious to try out this new restaurant. There are good points and some caveats. The Pro: 1. This is the first Boil we have had and it was amazingly delicious. We had the snow crab and headless shrimp boil with Buttery Garlic and mild seasoning. It was a beautiful melding of flavor, succulent shrimp and nice crab legs. We also ordered hush puppies and a dozen oysters. 2. The restaurant has a wonderful seacoast atmosphere, nicely decorated, large and comfortable. The Con: 1. The dozen raw oysters to be shared by two people came with a single fork, no horseradish, just plain ketchup sauce and lemon. The oysters were dull in flavor, missing any briny flavor of the sea. 2. The boils were presented beautifully in a large boiling bag, knotted on the top, however, there is no instruction by the waitstaff as how to open them properly. The only utensil presented was a cracker, no fork or tool to pick out crab bits, no fork to eat a solid potato. 3. Clear plastic gloves come with each bib. Again, the assumption was we would know what to do. We figured it out, but these beautiful boils were very uncomfortable to eat using plastic gloves and no utensils.
