Just had my first cut here and I gotta say I'll definitely be going back. Which should really mean something considering I've lived in L.A. about ten years and I can't remember ever having my hair cut by the same person more than once. I never thought I would get a great styled hair cut at a barber shop but Scott worked some serious magic. He took his time with my hair and made sure I was happy with the finished product. He is charming, funny and easy to chat with. Made the whole barber shop experience highly enjoyable. I will definitely recommend him to my girls who are in need of a cut. I have been going to Scott for about 3 years. I followed him to Don's from his prior salon which was only 1 mile from my house. Don's is 8 miles away, but I obviously think the drive is worth it. Even though Don's is a "barber shop", Scott is great with style(s) for those who care about that sort of thing. He is easygoing and cool to talk to while in the chair. Check him out. The crew at Don's Cutting Edge are true professionals at what they do. They take their customers very seriously and are also very easy to get along with. I had Mauricio cut my hair and I gave him some generic info on how I usually get my hair done and he made sure to take his time and give one of the best haircuts ever! It's on par with some of the beauty salons in LA that are far more expensive than this place. Definitely earned a customer and will definitely be coming back when I need more haircuts. read more

I walked in the other day with 4 kids after driving by in the car and thinking that the place looked like a nice and old fashion barbershop. Don and Scott were busy working on customers but welcomed us and even offered us brownies and a drink while we waited a few minutes. Wow. One son went to Don and the other to Scott. Don cut my 13-yr old's hair and he loved it. Loved it and he is super picky. My younger son went to Scott and got an awesome haircut and enjoyed talking with him. We had a great experience. We always have some laughs and I love how they involve the guests in conversation. I've seen my with fiancé with at least five different hairstyle changes over the years and Don has done an amazing job with each of them. This is a small, yet personal barbershop with fantastic staff. I've known Michael for almost two years since he was cutting my hair at Floyd's. I won't go to anyone else because I not only consider him to be a very talented and reliable barber but also a friend. The haircuts are consistently good with no surprises. He also makes time for you and will even cut your hair outside of the regular hours in an emergency (i.e. a wedding). Walked in on a Friday at 10:20AM and was greeted by Don. He said one of his other barbers could cut my hair or I could wait to have it cut at 11AM. I waited and let me tell you it was worth it. From making conversation about anything from stocks to the best lunch spot in Santa Monica (Bay Cities, which I ended up going to), Don is the man. He offered me coffee as I walked in and made everything comfortable. When I sat in the chair, he really took the time to figure out what kind of cut I wanted. Then he preceded to tell me what I was looking for was an "Ivy League" or "Princeton" cut and gave me the history behind the cut in the 40s/50s on the East Coast. He will even give you a quick shoulder rub and a wash for a total of $30. I tipped him $10 and was happy to pay $40 for my cut. Can't wait to come back one day when I'm in town. read more

So I have been living in LA for a little over 7 months and until a month ago I hadn't the need for a haircut. When I went out and finally had it cut I was all but horrified with the results. So needless to say when I needed another haircut I decided to Yelp it. I stumbled upon Don's and can honestly say that I have found my barbershop until they move or I do! Scott was fantastic. He agreed to stay a little late and cut my hair as I really needed it for an event the next day. He did a great job, although I will say he cut it a tad short so I had to postpone my photo session for a few weeks, but if it hadn't been for that it would have been great. I've been to a ton of spots in LA to get my hair cut and by far this is the best place. My friend posted a picture on Instagram about he got tons of comments about how good his hair looked. After reading reviews i decided to try out Don/s.I went 3 times and that was enough for me.None of the 3 cuts were satisfying.This is not a hairstylist shop from what i experienced but a barber shop where they have little time and get you out the door asap. The first cut with Don was ok not great.The 2nd time i went the cut was bad.I showed Don a photo of the style i wanted and he didnt cut it like the photo.And he couldnt have cared less if i liked it or not.He didnt ask me if i liked it or if he was doing it right.No communication.A 25min rush job,no shampoo.(He was in an unfriendly mood-i showed up 5mins late as i had told him on the phone earlier that i would be-he let me know he was annoyed about that.I guess i should have not shown up after that cold exchange). I actually went a third time but booked with Mauricio,the other haircutter. I arrived 10mins early and he proceeded immediately.I showed him a pic of the style i wanted.He also couldnt replicate the simple style/cut.It seems he had a predetermined cut in mind.He barely cut any length off the hair.I had to repeat a few times that i wanted it short.Even with a pic it want registering!I even had to tell him to cut it shorter.Even at that the hair was still long and only looked like it had been layered.I didnt push further because i just didnt want to start arguing with a guy who could make my hair look really bad if he wanted to.This haircut was done/rushed in just 20mins. and he cut it dry-no wash nor was it sprayed wet.Also, no blowdry even though that style required that.And its not like he had any clients waiting.Unreal. My impression is that this is a barbershop not a hairstylist facility.Perhaps,ok for basic buzz cuts but not hairstyles. read more

I love hanging out at Don's. It's such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Scott gives a great anime inspired haircut to my young teenage fashionista boy every time. Always different and in the moment. He's sensitive and always listens to his client. For me, he challenges my image of myself. He can sense when I'm truly ready for something new. Usually the new stylist Leslie cuts my hair, last time I went in I had Don cut my hair just to see how it was, both do a kick ass job. Doesnt matter who you get just take whoever is open because their usually pretty booked, both are excellent at what they do.
