After using a company to detect a leak in our pool, I started on a search for a business which could fix the leak and resurface our in ground pool. After reading all of the great reviews on this business, I decided to call the business and after speaking with Don (the owner of the business), we set up a time for him to come out and determine what needed to be done to fix the leak in the pool and resurface the pool (which hadn't been done in about 20 years). Don came out the next week and after looking at our pool, he contacted me via email with a bid to repair the leak and resurface the pool which I thought was a reasonable quote. Don sent Jesus to come out to fix the leak first before the resurfacing and Jesus worked on where the leak was found by the leak detection company. He also proceeded to drain the pool in preparation for the resurfacing to be done later. He carefully jackhammered the pool decking area where the leak was and replaced a pvc pipe fitting which was cracked and leaking. He came back the next day and proceeded to cement the area of the leak and tried to match the pool deck color the best he could. In a few days, Don sent a pool paving company to remove the old pool surface and the very next day, the new pool finish was applied and the crew proceeded to fill the pool with water. Don came out the next week to inspect the new surface and to put in pool chemicals in the newly filled pool. My whole experience in dealing with this outfit was very positive. Jesus was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and concerns without hesitation. Don was very knowledgeable as well and was also very thorough in answering all of my questions and concerns. Part 1: We had a major structural crack between our pool x hot tub. Don's Pool Repair reinforced the immediate area behind on the deck, epoxy-sealed up the crack, and replastered everything. Took about 2-3 weeks and working with Dray in office was easy. He always got back to me immediately and resolved/answered all my concerns/questions. Part 2: After the replastering and water fill, they start-ed up our pool equipment and turns out our Pentair Master Temp 400 would not fire on and kept getting "Service Heater" red LED. We've had an ongoing water loss (leak) problem with our in ground, fiber glass pool over the last several years and finally decided to get serious about finding out what was causing it. After going on YELP and reading the reviews for the pool repair companies in our area, we finally decided on Don's Pool Repairs. And what a great decision that was! Don first directed us to In-Depth Leak Detection who did a full inspection using sonar equipment and discovered exactly where the leaks were and forwarded all of the info to Don who then set up the repair. What can I say! They were prompt, reasonable, and did an outstanding job. The technician assigned to the job was Jesse and he was there right on time each day, kept us informed on everything he was doing, which included removing a small portion of the patio, digging two very deep holes around the broken pipes, repairing the pipes, and once the new pipes were ready to go, re-cementing the patio. And although it's specifically stated on their contract that they don't guarantee they'll be able to match the color you had in your patio, Jesse worked like crazy mixing and matching the color to get it as close as possible, which he did! Don, the owner of the company, came by regularly to make sure all was going well and to assist when needed, which was great! This is a long overdue review and highest recommendation for Don's Pool Repair. Our pool in Moraga suffered from a flood of muddy water resultant from the high volume of rainfall of the atmospheric river of 12/31/22 compounded by a landslide up-hill a few houses from ours. Months later, I made matters much worse during a dry spell when I attempted to drain and shovel out the deep layer of mud at the bottom of the pool. A new wave of rain storms blew in, saturating the ground, floating the pool. It tilted up by 10" on one side, with structural cracks all around. Many months later, after installing a new engineered retaining wall and beefed up drainage system. I consulted various pool repair and renovation specialists to assess the pool. Some quotes came in as high as $100K, leading me the consider pulling the pool out. However, when Don came in to take a look, he advised that the pool could be repaired for less than half that amount. Don exuded confidence and knowledge. We selected a new pebble surface to cover the new gunnite base, a new glass tile band under the deck, new cap stone and poured concrete deck. The result is a more beautiful pool than we originally had. The various craftsmen and subcontractors, supervised by Don's all-around skilled associate, Jesus, were efficient, skilled, polite and kept the worksite clean. Dray, managing Don's front office kept communications open and clear. When any problem arose, Don doggedly pursued a solution that worked. I am also grateful that Don pointed me in the direction of getting an automatic pool cover for our kidney shaped pool. It has become a wonderful upgrade. Originally, I was set to go with Apex Pools. I spoke to Beau and sent him pictures of my setup and he gave me a quote ($795) -- a little high if you ask me but he seemed to really know his stuff and had great reviews so I didn't mind paying the premium. I told Beau that my pool heater was arriving on Tuesday and was told to give him a call back once the pool heater was delivered. Called him back on Tuesday afternoon after I received the pool heater and all of a sudden no one answering the phone on their main business line. Called three times when I finally decided to move on. Contacted several more businesses before I reached Don's Pool Repairs. All I can say is that from beginning to end is that his business is OUTSTANDING. From dialing his main line and receiving a very polite lady who said that they would need to do a site evaluation before being able to provide a quote of the pool heater install (there was no fee for them to come out and evaluate and provide the quote). Since she didn't know of Don's availability, she kindly asked for my information and said that she would call me back. Which I did. And after less than 5 minutes, she returned my call and said that Don would be available to come the same afternoon that I called. Evaluation Don arrived at my house and inspected my setup. He seemed to really know his stuff. He looked at our pre-plumbed gas line and the pool plumbing and within a minute gave me a quote of $450 for the entire job. I was ecstatic! That's over 40% cheaper than what Apex Pools had quoted me. I was still a little hesitant since I didn't have any first hand review from other pool owners that used him. Anyway, just went with my gut feeling and scheduled the pool heater install. Since Don had to order a specific Earthquake valve for the gas line, he said that he would need to call me back later in the week once he had the valve but he was pretty sure that he would be able to get to the pool heater install the before the end of the week. Pool Heater Installation Didn't get a call back from Don until Thursday night. I was getting a little worried but was relieved when I got his call. He said that the Earthquake valve finally arrived and that he would be able to perform the install on Friday. Don arrived at my house around 12:35pm and started the pool heater installation. Decided to watch him so that I can become more knowledgeable of my pool equipment. Don's a very friendly person and easy to talk to. He didn't mind me watching over him and was glad to talk about what he was doing. Asked him how long he would take to complete the job and was told that it wouldn't take longer than 3 hours. I felt so comfortable about him doing the job that I even left him there for about 30 minutes while I went to pick up my car from the shop. Don had completed the plumbing portion by the time I got back. It looked really good. I decided to stay with him and we continued to chat as he was doing the rest of the install. It probably took him another 30 minutes for the wiring and then another 30 minutes for the gas plumbing side. When everything was completed and ready to fire up the pool heater, Don patiently walked me through the process. At first, the pool heater would not power up. He checked to make sure it was getting power. I got a little worried that I may have received a defective pool heater (e.g. DOA). But then Don asked to turn on the heater from the control station. Then, like magic, the pool heater kicked on. I am really happy that I decided to choose Don's Pool Repair even though they had no reviews. This is why I'm taking the time to write a well-deserved review (even though a little wordy). I would recommend his services to every person that I know. read more

I contacted this company because they had great yelp reviews. I had a spa light that needed to be looked at and and also my pool heater. On 6/30 I sent a text and received a reply that he was ill and would be out for awhile. He told me to send an email, which I did on 7/3. I received a return email on 7/8 saying that he was still ill and would contact me when he was better. I waited till 7/26 and sent another text. On 7/29 I received an email saying that he was back on his feet. I replied and he came out on 7/31. My heater was okay, but I needed a new spa light. He told me to order a light online and then contact him for installation. I received the light on 8/2 and emailed Don. I emailed him on 8/3, 8/4 and 8/5 and he finally responded on 8/6 asking how my schedule was next week. I told him that I was open all week. I then sent him 3 more emails and he did not reply. I waited 6 more days and never heard from him again. I sent an email on 8/13 and canceled him. The worst part is that when he came out on 7/31, he parked his old truck in my driveway and leaked oil (see picture). I have been trying to get the stains out for 3 weeks and can not. This is my first oil stain in 22 years. Goes to show you that all good Yelp reviews are not good. I have made about 15 yelp reviews over the past 5 years. 14 were 5 stars and one was a one star. Don spent over an hour with my husband explaining how our system works and what was happening to cause the heater to not work (too little return flow due to DE filter being clogged). He even told us that we had about 4 to 5 years left on our filtration system before it would need to be completely replaced. He could have totally hoodwinked us and tried to sell us new equipment but he was completely honest! Oh and better still?? There was no charge whatsoever for him to come out and check the system. We were so happy to learn about our pool equipment and that there wasn't anything actually wrong that we definitely would have paid him something but that's not how he does business. We had cracks in our (very old) pool skimmer and the entire thing needed to be replaced. This meant cutting the concrete around the skimmer, removing some tiles and brick coping, and installing a new skimmer unit. I received 6 different quotes for the work and Don's Pool Repairs was one of most responsive, thorough, and reasonably priced quotes. Once I chose them, they were quick to schedule a date for the work, showed up on time, and did a great job. They also worked efficiently and worked on the job every day, only taking breaks when concrete needed to dry or if they were waiting for the pool to drain, etc. Jesus was the team member assigned to our project and he was friendly, a great communicator, and very detail oriented in his work. It's almost impossible to match concrete colors when doing a patch, but he did a great job. He carefully removed and replaced all the original tiles and bricks. Don visited our home in Concord and provided excellent guidance on how to proceed. He recommended we get a quality leak detection company (we chose "In Depth Leak Detection" based on Don's recommendation of 2 local companies) to isolate exactly where the leak was. In Depth managed to come out earlier than originally predicted and nailed down exactly where the problem was. I forwarded the report to Don's Pool Repair and they worked up a schedule we could live with and replaced the skimmer and piping underneath. OMG SAVIOR. About a month ago, I accidentally left our backyard pump on for half a day. Motor died. Our landscapers said they would take care of it. When they saw that the 'wires were underwater', they got concerned since they've never seen it before, cut the wires and told us to hire an electrician. Calls after calls after visits after visits, people kept scratching their heads and saying they don't know what underwater wiring is. Finally an electrician came along that said it's totally safe, but you need a submersible pump that comes with wires. And that he doesnt do that. So now I'm calling around frantically, as by this point I'm a week out from hosting an important bridal shower. People didn't return calls, didn't know what I was talking about, or didn't do what I needed. Then came Don. He took time out of his day to come look at the fountain yesterday. We used Don's pool repair to have our heat pump installed. I will say that the install electrically went fantastic. The electrical was ran very neat and I have no complaints from the electrical side. The plumbing on the other hand has been a nightmare. There have been multiple leaks since it was installed in April. One of the unions on the inlet to the heater began leaking so bad that I haven't been able to circulate with my pump in over 2 weeks. I left Don an email, a text, and a voicemail letting him know that I cant even use my pool pump and haven't gotten any response from him. That was over a week ago. I am waiting for another company to come make the repairs and doing everything I can to not have my pool water quality get out of control.
