I recently discovered this donut shop and I am officially obsessed! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with friendly service and the most amazing smell of fresh donuts. Everything looked incredible, and the donuts tasted even better than they looked. They were soft, fresh, and packed with flavor. You can tell they put a lot of care into what they make. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and made the whole experience even better. It's rare to find a place that exceeds expectations, but this shop absolutely did. I loveeee this location! They also have a second one, but it does not have bagels like this one does. This place is so cute inside. I love the ambiance and the cute monthly themed drink board. For the month of April, it was all Mario themed drinks and they even had Mario donuts. For the month of May, they will be featuring star wars themed drinks Sierra and Vince took great care of us. We picked up our pretty large haul of donuts and bagels and then we both ordered a Diet Coke (in cans) Sierra, was so thoughtful and asked if we wanted our canned soda in a cup with ice. Which, we both said yes. When we were leaving we were trying to grab our drinks, our handbag, car keys and all the stuff we got. This was my first time at Donut Boss in Los Alamitos. Although the name is Donut Boss, it's much more than a regular donut shop, it's got more of a cafe menu. On the day I went they were having an event so I got to spin the wheel and won free bagel chips, which were pretty good. I got a Hazelnut Oatmilk latte and it was really good. I also got the bacon egg bites and those were amazing! Don't sleep on the egg bites! I also got a Dodger jelly donut. It was good the donut wasn't sweet so it was perfect with the raspberry jelly. I have been going to donut boss for years and I rarely write reviews. I've Been thru multiple changes in ownership - always hoping it will improve. I've stayed loyal because the employees are great- and honestly care more about the business than the owners the majority of the time! The coffee is great. Donuts not so much- better options in town. I've often said to myself I'm going to stop supporting this business because they are so inconsistent (Luke warm coffee one day super scalding hot the next t depending on who made it - no standard temp, constantly run out of basic things, etc, but due to great employees and good coffee I've stayed. Today that has changed. A few days ago when I went back a second time that day to take advantage of my so-called "free drink" available. Unfortunately they advised me that they changed their policy and now I could get a drip coffee (I get a mocha every day, never drip coffee) or a donut. I asked to speak to the manager because what good is a "free" drink I don't actually drink. She advised it's a point system now because people were abusing it. I told her it strange she would punish loyal customers over ending the loyalty program with the abusers, but that's of course her choice. I asked her to explain the rewards program which turned out to be you earn a star for every $5 spent. I did the math and said I should have plenty towards my usual drink. She then explained you can only earn 1 per visit. So each of my more expensive order of $12-13 each time was really only worth $5/1 star. I explained it was an unfair loyalty program and that it was especially unfair she changed without any notice to customers. I told them I would take my drink today but I wasn't sure I would be coming back again. My only vote is with my wallet and she didn't seem to care about my business or if I was even satisfied as a customer. I went back a few days later and decided I would get a coffee and one of the wonderful employees advised me she is NOT ALLOWED to serve me anymore. The owner didn't have the courage to tell me herself and made her employee do it. Very poor leadership. However this is not suprising given how poorly they manage the run the place. I will miss the coffee and the people, but honestly the owners vindictive choice to refuse to serve me because she can't handle constructive feedback to make her business better is a glaring example of her poor business choices. I look forward to them selling the shop and hopefully the next owners will do a better job! I will miss the employees! read more

Here we go.... I've lived in Los Alamitos for 2 years and this is the most convenient donut shop close to my house. I've came here over at least 20 times.. each time is a hit or miss.. I usually always get the egg bacon and cheese croissant brown sugar decaf latte with oat milk... each time it's a different experience.. I guess it depends on who prepares the items. Each time I say I'm not going to go back .. I end up going back out of convenience. However today will be my last time... the service is also a hit or miss.. it's cool too see young kids working however that's comes at a cost. The food and drinks are very mid. The price seems to fluctuate each time I go and the quality has been very subpar. Coffee review This location has a drive-thru option which is ideal because the freeway being so close. I explained to the employee it was my first time there and learned their smallest option is 16 oz (which is 2 cups). I originally asked for blueberry syrup and sugar in my coffee when the employee asked me again what I wanted I asked if the blueberry syrup is sweet and was told yes so I opted out of sugar and ordered coffee, cream and blueberry syrup. YUCK! When I tried my coffee my first thought was it tastes like soy sauce (not sweet at all). I honestly don't know if it's the coffee that taste bad or the "blueberry" syrup. This drink is so gross I can't drink any more, which is so disappointing because I love and want coffee for my morning drive up the 405. The service wasn't great (unfriendly), the coffee was gross, and I paid $5 for 16 oz of this coffee. It's a small doughnut shop you can get the feeling it's family owned or locals work there and are loyal customers. There is a decent selection of doughnuts and fresh!!! Their most popular is this cream cheese, avocado spread, and everything seasoning for $7.50. Simple and tasty always makes a great combination. We also went with the bacon, egg, cheese, and tots breakfast burrito for $10. It's almost the size of my forearm and comes with a green chile sauce and my favorite, the spicy aioli. Sundays are made for donut hole specials! These loaded donut holes are $3.50 for 6 or $5 for a dozen. Shareable or eat it yourself, it's a win win baby. The mocha jumpstart with caramel foam is chocolate lovers dream. Not to mention it's got the highest caffeine in it, so you know I had to try it and enjoyed it. Turns out the croissant alone was plenty - thing was massive and loaded with ham and cheese. Still ended up eating the entire bagel though because it was perfectly prepped.
