The shop is tucked in a small strip mall just next to the Chevron, sandwiched between a pizza place and a thai spot. It's a tight store, just a couple booths inside and tables outside. It can get pretty crowded in there in the mornings. There's a small lot and you can usually find parking there or on the small residential street to the side of it. The donuts are realistically probably a 3-star. They're good, not mind-blowing, solid chain donuts, good selection. Extra star is for how friendly and welcoming the folks are here. They'll usually toss in extra donut holes for free or if you just order coffee. Signs say cash only, but pretty sure I've paid with card here multiple times. read more

A donut place with 4.5 stars? I gotta try this. So I did... last weekend I felt especially gluttonous so I swung by and ordered a dozen. The nice lady behind the counter pointed to all the varieties I could get for my $8 dozen. I picked a wide assortment including jelly filled and cakey ones. Great assortment of donuts and they were happy to help and pick the hits for me so I didn't have to think. The prices are reasonable (less than $10 for a dozen), and the donuts themselves were fresh with a wide variety of flavor, type, and topping combinations. Good donuts I ordered my go to donut--the rainbow sprinkle cake with vanilla icing. I also ordered glazed donut holes and it tasted fresh with just the right amount of glaze icing. I also ordered a french donut with pink icing. These donuts were both reasonably priced. I think $.85 for sprinkle and french donut and $.10 or $.15 for donut holes. Only bad part was the price of the cappuccino. I think it was $4 and some change for a large. Thats pretty overpriced considering its a machine dispensing water and cappuccino flavoring. EW! Came here today since I live close by and was starving! Went in to get a bagel and looked at the bagel- I KID YOU NOT- there was a baby cockroach crawling around the bagels ewewew!! I don't know why I didn't leave but instead I got two donuts and an ice coffee which was over-flowing out of the cup when the cashier put the lid on...like seriously? Went to my car took a bite of the dont- pretty good. I look inside and theres a black hair coming out of the bread EEEEWWW! Not even on the outside of the donut but stuck inside the bread- DISGUSTING. I've been turned off by any donut shop for a long time now. I went back inside and literally put the donuts and ice coffee back on their counter and walked out- the asian lady just said "Than Yuuu" (not even asking why I gave it back). I don't think I've ever written a Yelp review while I was still eating, but this can't wait! I like getting those weekly Yelp emails on selected type of stores. About a month ago they featured doughnuts. I like doughnuts a lot but rarely have them so I was up for reading about good doughnut places in the area. But really, I thought, aren't most doughnut shops the same? I don't think I've ever been able to discern good from bad doughnuts. Well, my mind was totally blown as I took my first bite of glazed twist at the donut king. This doughnut stands 10x above any other doughnut I've had. The softness is unbelievable and the sweet level was just right. So, so good. The lady at the store this afternoon was super nice too. She gave me a free cake doughnut with chocolate frosting. Giving out a freebie is such a good marketing strategy because the cake doughnut was even better than the glazed and I'll be popping in here regularly now for my doughnut fix of both glazed and cake doughnuts. Favorite donut place, ever. I used to like Stan's Donuts over in Westwood (and Thousand Oaks), but Donut King has gotten Stan's beat. I've been here countless times, usually just on my way back from the bus stop to get a donut or two, and I have almost always gotten a free one - usually glazed or sprinkles. That sure makes my mouth happy, though I can hear my jeans crying (they're pretty much ripping at the seams). It should be called Donut HEAVEN! This little hole in the wall place sure can make donuts! They are pretty much the best donuts I've ever had. They were so fresh and even stayed fresh when I had one the next day. I got three: powder sugar, glazed twist and chocolate covered which equaled breakfast lunch and dinner and the woman working also threw in one for free which was a nice surprise when I opened the bag in the car. That made for breakfast the next morning. The back wall of Donut King is a large refrigerated case of pretty much any kind of drink that you might want from soda to Starbucks Frappuccino in a bottle. I got the mocha flavored Frappuccino and also an Arizona iced green tea. They also serve some hot drinks. You know the old saying don't judge a book by it's cover? Wow. I am extremely impressed with the quality of donuts here. First of all, they have my FAVORITE DONUTS in stock here: French Crullers. These are probably by far, the best french crullers I've ever tasted. They were so light, fluffy, moist, and sweet, but not too sweet. I highly recommend them! As for their other donuts, they were all light, delicate, and delicious as well! I am a donut fanatic and enthusiast, so please listen to me when I say that these are some of the best traditional donuts that I've had. Perhaps it was because I got them very fresh in the morning, around 7:15am on a Saturday. Either way, the donuts were delicious and I am coming back here for more! The place is a small business located right next to the Chevron Stations and the Papa John's Pizza Company.
