Grilled Pork Chop with Egg Over Rice
    Ivan B.

Short Rib Noodle Soup has been advertised on social media months ago and I don't know if they still promote it. I guess that the hyped went down overtime. I've been wanting to try it for a while now and now's it's a good time to do that. I heard that ribs are supposed to fall off easily based from what I saw but unfortunately it didn't. I spent minutes trying to rip the meat off into pieces with a fork and knife, and it was very difficult. Sometimes, I can't get some meat off, and instead had to normally eat the ribs with my own hands. It got to the point that a small portion of the soup spilled because of how tough the meat is. Good thing that it wasn't the whole soup, which would have been a lot worse. Despite all that, the short ribs are really good, but I wish the meat is tender just like what I saw online when the meat easily falls off from the bone. The rocket shrimp eggrolls are really good. I was quite interested with it because of how it's named. Anyways, I don't think I'll be ordering that pho again just because of how hard it is to cut the meat, but I'll just try other dishes in my future visits. Just be careful when trying to cut the rib meat. Hopefully, they will do something about making the ribs more tender.

This is my first time here. The staffs are friendly. I have the grill pork & egg roll vermicelli & grill quail. The fish sauce for my dish is just right. The price is reasonable. The atmosphere is nice. I would come back to try other dishes.

    Short rib pho. Dynamite.

Excellent short rib pho. Tender meat on the brontosaurus bone! Very good broth, no oil floating on top. Sweeter than the usual broth, and though I prefer savory, it was extremely flavorful and good -- especially after I put my herbs, lemon, and siracha into it. The shaking beef was also very good. It was a great filet mignon with veggies. Not over sauced, but flavored right. The service is very good, very and friendly. They're open late, so they're perfect for late night cravings.

Very solid pho restaurant. Theres not a lot of legitimate spots near Fremont so this is a great addition. I definitely prefer Dope Pho to the Pho Ha Noi at P Commons. The broth is very clean and the meat was good quality. A healthy portion for $18 - I had some leftovers to take home. They also have fresh noodles which was a plus! The restaurant itself is very modern. The service was quick.

2.33 stars. After a visit to the cemetery, we, the Santos side of the family, went for an early dinner at DOPE PHO. Below is a breakdown of my 2.33 stars overall rating: VENUE: 3 stars. Located at GRIMMER SQUARE shopping centre, we easily found free parking in the spacious lot. We were a party of nine, walking in the casual eatery just minutes before 6 PM. No problem, only a few tables were occupied, so we were immediately seated after the staff pulled together a few half booth tables against the wall. One of our tables was not very clean, so Mom wiped it down. FOOD & DRINK: 2.5 stars. DOPE PHO serves beef noodle soup and other classic Vietnamese plates. Below are some of what we ordered: SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS ($8.45) & TOFU SPRING ROLLS ($7.45) - The fresh rice paper rolls, also known as gỏi cuốn, were good in composition and texture; however, the peanut sauce was pretty bland. If the sauce is a fail, the dish is far from being a winner. Unfortunately, this was the case here. EGGROLLS (3 PCS, $8.45) - DOPE PHO uses the right wrappers, so these fried rolls (chả giò) came out golden brown and irresistibly crispy. The typical way to eat these is wrapped with fresh herbs and green leaf lettuce, then dipped in fish sauce. Only bite-size pieces of lettuce, pickled veggies, and sweet & sour sauce accompanied the egg rolls, though. I had to ask for some fish sauce. I should have asked for some fresh herbs, too. CHICKEN POT STICKERS ($6.95) - These were great; crispy exterior and steaming hot flavourful meat inside. The dipping sauce was also tasty. VIETNAMESE COFFEE ($6.95) - OK, according to Auntie Marissa. RARE BEEF & SHORT RIB NOODLE SOUP ($19.95) - Mom ordered this bowl of phở of two slabs of bone-in rib meat, rice noodles, and a medley of fresh garnishes floating in a simmering, golden-brown broth. The ribs were the undeniable statement piece, but it all looked better than it tasted. Mom was disappointed in this soup. RARE BEEF & BRISKET NOODLE SOUP ($17.45) - Uncle Danny said that he did not like this soup "at all." Z did, though. RARE BEEF CHOICE BEEF FLAP ($17.45) - I appreciated that the beef was lean, but had to load up on lemon (V and I prefer lime instead), Sriracha, Hoisin Sauce, and several slices of jalapeño to add more flavour to my broth. Good thing that the side plate of bean sprouts, basil and especially jalapeño slices was a generous serving. CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP ($16.95) - V thought that his soup was good, but stated he has had better Viet soup elsewhere. THAI ICED TEA ($6.95) - Sweet and oddly missing the tea flavour...which makes it a fail. TARO JASMINE MILK TEA ($6.95) - Another bland drink. COCONUT COFFEE ($7.15) - Good, I could really taste the coconut come through. I wish that they would make this vegan. SHAKING BEEF (FILET MIGNON) OVER RICE ($19.95) - This dish was highly recommended by Auntie Marissa, so Auntie Selvy ordered it. I got to try a piece of meat. Again, savoury notes were lacking big time. To add flavour to her food, Auntie Selvy poured the leftover fish sauce that I got for the eggrolls. This was THE MOST flavourless SHAKING BEEF that I have ever tasted. Combination Fried Rice (Chicken & Shrimp) - This item dropped off of the menu, but you can still order it and the kitchen will make it. Not bad, but, again, a bit on the bland side. Soy sauce needed. SERVICE: 1.5 stars. Our waitress must have been new because she had no idea that the Combination Fried Rice (Chicken & Shrimp) was available to order. I stated earlier that we were a party of nine, right? I suggested to her to take our orders one-by-one from everyone, working her way around the table in an organized fashion. The weird thing was that as each person placed their orders, when we would reply to "anything else?," she would think that ordering would stop at that person, not that the response was specifically for that one person. We had to continuously tell her that the others still had to place their orders with her. Was this impatience or ignorance or both?? Once all food and drink were delivered to our table, our server never approached our table again - she never came by to check in on us to see if everything was ok or if we wanted to order anything else. In fact, my cousin had to go up to the counter MULTIPLE times to ask for to-go containers. Either our waitress needs more training or she just didn't care about our experience. Not only was service poor, they had flyers posted along the walls, offering a FREE Coconut Jelly in exchange for a 5-star review on Google or yelp. WOW! That's straight up bribery for inaccurate ratings. Super shady!! DOPE PHO is FAR from a 5-star place! I am seriously questioning if all of the 5-star yelp reviews are genuine. I would be curious to see if the number of perfect ratings would drop significantly once they take down those bribing flyers. Not sure why Auntie Marissa suggested to dine here. Definitely NOT dope.

Dope Pho is located in a small strip mall close to the Arco gas station, Kakuna Sushi, Nails & Spa, etc. A nice simple, clean restaurant with a few simple decorations. Two separate single-user men and women's restrooms. The soup was a clean, simple seasoned broth. The short ribs were tender, fall-off-the-bone. While eating the tender beef ribs, I had a few bone chips, so be careful eating this. I mean, its the same whenever you are eating fish, you need to be cautious of any missed bones. Came by today to get a grilled pork bahn mi sandwich. I got it with everything. There was plenty of meat, along with a little mayo, cilantro, jalapeños, and the carrots and daikon mix. The sandwich was tasty. And you get a lot of food for $8. They do have a togo special where you get a sandwich and a Vietnamese coffee for $10. I like that they open at 9 am. Perfect when I want soup or a sandwich early in the day.

This is our time trying dope pho and thought it was ok. The broth wasn't flavorful for the meatball pho, but they didn't skimp on the meat at all. They only have one size which is unfortunate because I was still hungry after finishing my bowl. What I loved about this pho place was that everything felt clean which isn't common for pho restaurants. I have to come back and try their vermicelli bowls and banh mi!

Came here after Christmas for a warm place to eat in the cold! Ambiance 9/10: simple pho restaurant with minimal features but overall super clean inside. Service 10/10: the server greeted us as soon as we walked in! She and the older lady were both very warm and welcoming, always checking in to make sure the food was good and we were alright. Food 10/10: spring rolls were good (a little on the leafy side but I still enjoyed!!) pho and rice plate (not pictured) came out warm and delish! Their nuoc mam is sweet (yum!) and their egg rolls are very crispy! Total bill was around $54 for 2 entrees, 2 hot teas & an app! I would totally come again!!

I like how this place is open late because we came in after seeing holiday in the park on a cold night . Our party of 7 sat down right away and our server took our order right away. Food comes out so quickly and the soup was so hot! Perfect for a cold, late night. I recommend the beef skewers as an appetizer! They have a lot of flavor and super juicy. I'll try this place again

    Bun Bo Hue ($17.85)

I'd give this spot a 3.5/5, not bad but could definitely be better. Wasn't particularly impressed with the food to come back though unfortunately. PASS: + Bun bo hue ($17.85) was missing some lemongrass and mam ruoc to add depth in flavors. However, they were generous with the meats which I appreciate

I met up with my non-vegan best friend, and we both loved our meals. We shared two vegan appetizers and each got our own entree. I appreciate that they have a separate vegan menu with lots of options to choose from. Here's what we ordered: Mango Mojito, Vegan Thai Tea, Roti Curry, Vegan Crispy Eggplant Strips, Vegan Shrimp Laksa Noodle Soup, and Premium BBQ Combo. The presentation of our dishes was on point, and the portions were generous. Everything I tried was super flavorful and delicious. The curry sauce for the roti was incredible, and the breading on the crispy eggplant was really flavorful and tasty, though I was a bit surprised by the ketchup on top. Next time, I'd ask for the ketchup on the side. The laksa noodle soup broth had an amazing depth of flavor. I didn't try the mango mojito or BBQ combo, but my friend said she absolutely loved them! Highly recommend checking this place out; we're definitely going back to try more things!

As someone who has been drinking Vietnamese coffee since I was 12 (Im much older now), I am very picky with my Vietnamese coffee. This place knocked it out of the park with their coffee as well as offering flavors that I never tried other than the original. The phin set I ordered is for dine in only and understandably so. The pandan cream topping was definitely new for me and I would give it the compliment of saying that it wasnt too sweet. Not pictured was the pandan waffle and the two pate chaud I ordered, which I ate before taking the picture, I am sorry. It might be on the pricey side but hoenstly these days, what isnt? Im not complaining, I would come back next time I am around the area. Lastly, I wanted to shout out the workers there on that day. You guys seemed understaffed and getting slammed, but everyone did their job and delivered.

My recommendation is to order your drinks less sweet. It's the perfect level of sweetness. The only tweak I'd make is adding an extra shot of espresso to the coconut coffee. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the drinks. I tried a few of the bánh mì sandwiches, and the bread-to-filling ratio was way off. There just wasn't enough filling, and even after ordering extra veggies, it didn't seem like there were actually any extra added. If you're specifically craving a Vietnamese sandwich, I'd recommend driving about a mile up the road to Huong Sandwiches instead. That said, I still want to come back and try more of their food menu because the drinks alone keep bringing me back. The café itself is adorable. I love the modern design and all the greenery throughout the space. It's clean, quiet enough to study or work, and has about 7 small tables, making it ideal for solo visits or small groups of up to four people. I also appreciated the powerful hand dryer in the restroom (it's the little things!) and plenty of parking. Come for the drinks, stay for the atmosphere.

TWO PHOS AND TWO RICE PLATES…read more The first time I came here was about a couple of months ago for Sunday dinner with my family. I'm not a fan of pho so I decided to order a rice plate, which was Combo Plate #2 that included one grilled pork and two fried chicken wings. The rice plate I ordered was ok. Even though the chicken wings were cooked inside the meat tasted bland. I wasn't planning to come back here anytime soon. On the menu however I saw a pho item that consisted of chicken quarters. The next time I came here was a couple of days later for lunch. I ordered the pho with chicken quarters. With the addition of the ginger scallion sauce the dish is basically Hainan chicken pho. I've had this type of pho at another eatery and is the best chicken soup I've ever had. Since the chicken isn't shredded, the meat isn't dry. Usually for Hainan chicken I would dip the chicken in the ginger scallion sauce. I did something different for the first time. I added the scallion ginger sauce in the broth. This brought more flavor to the broth. I'd rather have scallion ginger sauce in the broth than sriracha. I'm not a fan of pho. Having the chicken quarters pho provided me a different perspective on pho. When I started having pho I would order get rare steak and beef tendon. What I noticed is that the rare steak changes the texture of the broth, which becomes murky. Maybe that's why I never craved for pho. I find well done beef atrocious. After having the chicken quarters pho I thought why not try the well done brisket. About week later I ordered the well done brisket pho for lunch. From the outset I noticed the broth from the well-done pho is clearer than any beef pho before. How did the broth taste? The broth was the best tasting pho with beef ingredients. I think that has to do with not having raw slices of beef. The blood from the raw beef makes the broth murky. Since the brisket was well-done there was no blood that made the broth cloudy. Also the flavor of the broth enhanced due to the fat from the brisket. The well-done brisket give me a different perspective on pho. Maybe in the future I just order well-done brisket for pho. My last visit I had another rice plate. As I already ordered the chicken leg quarters pho I wanted to try the rice plate version. This dish is Pho Nation's version of Hainan chicken. Even though the scallion ginger was served this dish is different from Hainan chicken as chicken at Pho Nation is steamed and served hot. I ate two phos and two rice dishes. Normally at pho eateries I tend to like the rice dishes more, but at Pho Nation I enjoyed the phos more. If I want to eat pho with a clear yet tasty broth I would come to Pho Nation for either the chicken quarters or well-done brisket pho.
