First time here and I loved it! The menu has lots of options with images, which makes it so much easier to choose and decide what to order. Prices are very good, especially for the banh mi. The spicy soup was delicious, full of flavor, and they have great drink options. I ordered the egg coffee and it was fantastic. Service was excellent, and the space is really bright and energizing, which made the whole experience even better. All in all, a great first visit and I will definitely be back. Cheers!

I haven't been here in a while but since I was in the area I decided to stop by and get their grilled pork Bánh mì and let me say ..... it's better than I remember it! The meat was grilled and seasoned to perfection and the bread was fresh, crunchy and just plain GOOD! Service and ambiance were good too. Definitely going to be back more often. 10/10

DISHES WITH MASSIVE MENU The first time I passed by this place was I believe either late spring or early summer. There were pictures of food items on the window. One picture that grabbed my interest was beef rib pho. I walked back and forth as I thought about eating here that day. At the end I decided not to eat at Chopsticks Pho & Grill. About several months later I came here to eat. I was dead set to eat the beef rib pho until I saw on the menu one item stood out - oxtail pho. There was no hesitation as I choose oxtail pho. I love oxtails, but last time I had oxtail pho at another Vietnamese restaurant in Dublin the oxtail was bouncy as a tennis ball. Would I be disappointed with the oxtail pho at Chopsticks Pho & Grill? No I loved it as the oxtails were tender with the meat falling off the bone. The other dish I ordered was pork egg rolls. I've eaten egg rolls with ground pork, but the egg rolls I ate at Chopsticks Pho & Grill were grilled pork. Since the pork was sliced not ground I could taste the pork. The second time I came here I ordered the beef rib pho. In addition I ordered the chicken wings. The beef rib pho was ok. Had I eaten the beef rib pho I don't know if I would come back to Chopsticks Pho & Grill so soon. The oxtail pho made me come back here to eat. I noticed the scores on the chicken wings. I know this technique makes the chicken cook all around, but the meat on the chicken wings was too crispy for my taste. The next time I came here I ordered a grill item. I asked my server if she would recommend the grilled pork chop or grilled beef. She recommended the grilled pork chop. Even though I liked the sweet, tangy glaze the pork chop itself was ok. When I'm craving for banh mi I usually go to an eatery that specializes that type of sandwich. During my visits to Chopsticks Pho & Grill I noticed banh mi was served. On my next visit I came here for the banh mi. For the meat I ordered the grilled pork. The banh mi grilled pork was tastier than the grilled pork chop. Even though the pork chop had the glaze the different textures of the banh mi grilled pork with the toasted bread, pickled vegetables, and savory meat is why I preferred the sandwich over the grilled pork chop. On my last visit I ordered the fried shrimp cake and grilled chicken rice plate. Some parts of the grilled chicken were cold. The fried shrimp cake made up as the outside was flaky and inside was moist. During my visits to Chopsticks Pho & Grill my favorite items were the oxtail pho, banh mi, and grilled pork egg roll. Ordering items can be intimating as the menu at this eatery is massive. When I come back here I'll try one of the vermicelli dishes. If I'm uncertain what dish to order I'll revert back to the oxtail pho.

Good, not great. My family of 6 arrived after a long morning of cherry picking and was in need of some lunch to refuel. After seeing the promising reviews, I threw out the idea of Chopsticks Pho & Grill. No wait was required at the time of our arrival and menus were immediately brought out. Here you will find staple Vietnamese dishes such as: pho, bun bo hue, bo kho, bun, rice plates, banh mi, & an assortment of beverages. Purchases: -Com Bo Luc Lac [shaken beef + rice] -Goi Cuon Tom Thit [pork & shrimp spring rolls] -Pho Dac Biet + Duoi Bo [combination beef pho + beef rib] -Pho Tom [shrimp pho- with or without head on shrimp offered] -Pho Tai Bo Vien [beef ball & rare beef pho] Food: Food was okay, just more on the bland side. Pho broth was not flavorful, the soup on the side [served with the cubed beef plate] lowkey tasted like water, and bo luc lac was slightly overcooked + a bit tough. Staff was friendly and patient, the restaurant was clean, and the service is pretty quick. Cash payment will get you a slight discount and card payments include a transaction fee. 3 stars overall.

Love the flavor of their broth it has a nice richness to it. Food comes fast, extra hot and everything tastes fresh. Good prices and portions. Menu has alot of options and they now have a good menu for specialty drinks! I got the Ube coco it came with fresh coconut water and ube cream had also some coconut meat, this was really good and refreshing! Great customer service, I love chatting with the staff they're super friendly. This has been my go to Pho spot and they never disappoint!

Classic pho place in my hometown! always consistent and portions are large!!! Best place to go for BBH and rice plates

I wanted to try the bun bo hue but it was too hot for that... So I settled on C13 Tàu hủ ky, thịt. Overall the dish was good, you get a good amount of food for $17, the pork was thinly sliced and soaked in a lot of flavor. My only criticism is the fish cake was pretty thin and I had better versions where the wrapping was better deep fried crispy. The service was quick and friendly. Side note they have a beautiful painted mural which was nice to get lost in all the details.

Very good vietnamese food! This is probably my favorite Bun Bo Hue broth I've tried. Definitely does use MSG for enhancement but it's seriously so addicting and satisfying to sip on! Portion was also large with generous amounts of meat, but the meat itself was not of great quality. My mom enjoyed her wonton with egg noodles; it was a clear, light, yet comforting broth. We both also liked the deep fried mushroom appetizer which was also quite large! Drinks here are not bad but definitely on the sweeter side and they don't let you adjust it. It was pretty busy when we went so our food took around 20 minutes to come out. The workers were being as efficient as they could be which is appreciated. There's not much else to the service though. The place has unique murals which I though was pretty cool. It's an overall really good option for some vietnamese food!

Was in the area and decided to stop by for lunch. It was pretty dead for a weekend lunch. We were the only ones inside with a few customers doing take out so service was fairly quick. We got a large P8 rare and tripe pho and H7 bun bo hue. Originally we wanted the beef rib pho but it wasn't advertised on the menu so we thought it was no longer served. After we placed our order, we noticed the beef rib pho was advertised on the wall. We completely missed it. It should be noted in the menu or in an easily spotted location. The BBH was very flavorful and spicy, but not overly spicy. It also had a good amount of meat. The pork blood, however, didn't taste very fresh. The broth for the pho was also flavorful but the quality of the noodles were not the best. Not sure if the noodles were old or cooked for too long because it broke apart easily and some were clumped together. Overall, food was ok and filled us up. If you pay by cash, you get a 4% discount on your check.

Spicy Pho was delicious. Usually I'll go to San Jose for this but it was very good here, with plenty of meat. I went during lunch so it was very busy. Restaurant has plenty of seating. Service was pretty good.

This is a great little joint serving authentic Vietnamese dishes located in a Newark shopping mall. It's usually not super crowded given the plethora of restaurants in the area, and the menu is fairly extensive so you can browse at your leisure. I always get my favorite dish Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and this place is generous with their toppings - bean sprouts, cilantro, and mint - as well as their meat/flank portions and noodles. I never walk away hungry. Note that per Bay Area pricing you'll probably put away a minimum of $20 per person for the entree, and more if you order appetizers or drinks. Like a lot of Vietnamese restaurants you'll pay at the front counter once you're done eating. It was nice and quiet when I went, and the food came out hot and fresh. I like the no-frills nature of ordering - no small talk, just plenty of good food!

However, the quality and service needs improvement. As soon as my family and I arrived, the cashier lady expected us to be ready to order. There were no other customers in line. I wanted to get the Vietnamese mung bean layered cake aka Bánh Da Lợn, but they only had the Pandan jello aka Thạch Rau Câu Lá Dứa. When I was ready to order, the lady just stood there standing and then said ready now (sounding somewhat annoyed)! I ordered a ham combo sandwich and an avocado smoothie for my kids. I asked if they used a lot of sugar and opted to lessen the sugar amount if possible. She did not offer the sugar percentage and just walked over to start making the avocado smoothie. Then a customer came in and she stopped to greet him, took his order, then finished our avocado smoothie. The avocado smoothie was smooth and creamy but not very enjoyable as it lacked flavor. My kids drank only a few sips and we ended up tossing almost an entire drink even after saying it was like avocado "ice-cream". It was a hot day too. The sandwich took a while to come out considering they had more than four staffs in the back (you could see the kitchen from the front register), but they still moved very slow. Some of them were just chilling and staring at the front of the store. The French bread was fresh and tasty though. They did not add much filling except for carrots and radish. Limited meat, pate sauce, and barely taste the aioli. Sandwich was still good with the classic, traditional Vietnamese sandwich taste but the one in San Jose did not skip on the quantity in ingredients like they did in this location. Our jello ended up have a mold growing so we did not try it. Texture looked solid though. We also bought the pork sausages which were tiny but tasty. Duc Huong for sure wins in all three categories for sandwiches, pork sausage, and having the Pandan layered cake I liked. Overall, this was still a decent place to get Vietnamese sandwiches. Going in with less expectations would make the experience better. They had a large table seating so customers could eat inside or order meals like a normal restaurant.

The Sour Bì Was the Last Straw…read more I've had both good and bad experiences with Pho Newark Com Tam Thanh over time, and for a while I considered it a decent, average place to grab Vietnamese food in the area. I also tend to give restaurants multiple chances before leaving a negative review because I understand that every place can have an off day. Unfortunately, I've now seen enough of a pattern that I'm done. Today I ordered the Combination Cơm Tấm and was utterly disappointed by the drop in quality. The bì (shredded pork skin) smelled sour and was completely mushy, despite the meal having just been purchased. It genuinely seemed spoiled, and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The pork chop was bland and overly fatty, the fish sauce was nothing special, and the bánh mì was extremely disappointing as well. This wasn't an isolated issue either. On another visit, I found a hair in my food. And on some evenings, a staff member would clean the floors with such a strong bleach-smelling cleaner while customers were still eating that the chemical smell completely took over the dining area. Trying to enjoy a meal while your nose is full of cleanser is not exactly appetizing. I don't write a bad review because of one mediocre dish. I give places multiple tries because I want to be fair. But when the unpleasant experiences keep repeating, eventually it stops feeling like bad luck and starts looking like a quality-control problem. The sour-smelling, mushy bì today was the final straw. I can forgive average food. I'm not gambling with spoiled pork skin. Nope, nope. I'm done.

Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon! This watering hole will surely host someone you know if you're a local and if not, get to know the owners as I hear they have origins in the community!

The parking lot was completely full, so you have to be patient with finding a parking spot. It was pretty crowded and because of that, everyone had to self order. Throughout my time there, lots of customers came through, but I received my drink relatively quickly. As for the drink itself, the house mocha was okay, but I'm glad that I was able to try the Hojicha cream! The mocha + Hojicha cream was an interesting combination, but I think I would try their Hojicha Latte the next time I go. They have matcha, Hojicha, and seasonal offerings as well (like their banana cream!).
