I came here on a chilly night and a steaming bowl of pho was just what I needed. The broth was delicious; it tasted like just beef and flavored like umami, it stayed hot all the way to the last sip. The noodles had the perfect amount of chew and the beef was easy to shred. There was a garnish plate with herb, sprouts, limes, and jalapenos. I was able to customize my pho, and I loved that. I also had some egg rolls. They were delicious, super crunchy on the outside, and the filling was really good. The service was excellent because the staff was nice and my tea was always full. Pretty solid noodles. I decided to try out their Hu Tieu Dac Biet, which is like a combination noodle with a slightly different broth. It was delicious, ton of broth. Been here a few times and do recommend stopping in. The place is large and clean. Utensils are on the tables. The service is quick. The banh xeo has good flavor. The crepe is not crispy. It is filling. They give you a good plate with enough vegetables on the side. I don't know why but they now let you know in advance it will take a little time to wait. The beef stew is ok. There are not any bones in the soup. The bun thit nuong is solid good. The pork has good flavor and char. The shrimp wasn't over cooked. The bun cha has good flavor. the broth is good. Bun bo hue has a good broth and can taste shrimp paste. The che is good. The coconut juice taste like from a can. Beware they charge extra for using a credit card to pay. Shame on me for trying to order Chinese food for my kids from a Vietnamese restaurant. Don't order the beef chow fun. Take a look at my actual photo and compare to the photo in the menu. Came here on a Sunday evening around 630pm. The place was not busy at all..maybe only 1 other customer there. We were greeted by this sweet elderly lady and informed us we could set anywhere. This place is fairly new only 6 months in. It's a very spacious and well decorated restaurant. Plenty of tables and booths. Each table had utensils, napkins, and sauces (sriracha, hoisin, chili oil, and hot garlic chili). We ordered fish cake, vermicelli bowl with grilled pork & egg roll, and combination pho w/ fresh noodle. I can only speak for the vermicelli bowl that I ordered since I'm not a pho the biggest fan of pho. However, my partner seemed to enjoy it since he finished the whole bowl with no complaints. The grilled pork was thinly sliced and well seasoned. The egg rolls had a delicious filling and a good size as well. The veggies were fresh. Short Rib Pho - the overall dish was pretty solid however, I wish the short rib was cooked a bit more since the meat was a bit tough to chew and wasn't fall off the bone. The pho broth was light and flavorful and I did enjoy the other thin beef slices. Vegan Shaken Tofu - good amount of tofu and veggies. The rice was cooked well and paired nice with the overall dish. The sauce wasn't overly sweet and the tofu was prepared well. My husband is a meat eater and he definitely approved of this dish! I'm always in this area whenever I go grocery shopping at Lion Supermarket and remember passing by this restaurant a few times, but never stopped by until recently when I was craving Vietnamese food. We arrived at noon on a Sunday and was surprised that there wasn't a wait even though it was busy. It was bigger than I expected with plenty of tables available. It was very clean, which I liked. My husband ordered a combo plate (grilled pork chop, fried chicken wings, and egg roll), and he enjoyed the savory dish, especially the crispy egg roll. I ordered a Rare Steak & Brisket pho and the broth was light but flavorful. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I saw some people order their 3 Color Dessert Drink and didn't wanna get FOMO so I also ordered one for to-go. I'm glad I did because it was delicious. Not too sweet and very refreshing. This seems like a newly opened Vietnamese area with a large varieties of dishes on menu. Menu had a lot of things: pho, rice place, banh xeo, bun, etc... My boyfriend and I weren't feeling pho, so we tried the broken rice plate, banh xeo and bun rieu(tomato crab noodle). Overall, broken rice plate is pretty good. However, I would skip the bun rieu (they used crab cakes instead of my preferred crab meatballs. I came with my family to get pho for dinner. We came as a small group. There was no line. The inside is pretty much like every other pho place. Similar tables too. Each table got lots of sauce. Their sriracha was kinda watery... I ordered the #2 and also some meat on the side (i lost the photo). The bowl was GIGANTIC. So many noodles and the 2 bones were so big. The meat was good, frsh noodle was good, but for some reason the broth was kinda watery. If not for the watery broth could've scored higher. Definitely decent. Pretty new pho/Viet spot in a very Asian centric retail strip. The inside is very colorful and pretty, lots of Asian floral vibes that I'm sure many find attractive. I also loved their table-side condiment set-up as it had 3-4 chili based sauces and a small bottle of pure fish sauce. Not many Viet places from this area go this far, so I'm gonna give them props. But in my first couple of outs during the winter months I've just tried a couple soups and an app. Since they are new I'm not too sure on how dialed in they are...yet. Even though fine for the most part, it seems they can tighten up on quality and execution. Fresh Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls ($8.50/4.5*) Pretty solid and rolled fresh. Springy wrapper, fresh veggies and vermicelli noodles and good proportion of protein. And absolutely delicious when dipped into their sweetish peanut sauce with a good dot of chili sambal. I could get these almost every time I come in. Rare Beef and Tendon Pho ($16/3.5*) They only have 1 size for soups and it is pretty large. I can't finish the broth. The broth comes out super hot (thermally) and is spiced lightly with a good beef to salt ratio. The proteins were fine, both the tender tendons and the sliced rare beef. The noodles are in a big ball and needs to be unraveled. Tons of noodles too, more than I prefer. I keep forgetting to ask them to switch out the noodles to fresh rice noodles which I think are thicker. They never ask so I just keep forgetting. Special Vietnamese Noodle Soup/Hu Tieu ($17/3*) I haven't had this in a while, so I tried it one cold evening. It's basically their pho broth and same rice noodles. Just topped with different proteins. There's 2-3 shrimps which were the best of the bunch. Nicely poached, not overcooked at all. Some calamari chunks that were kinda hard and chewy. Didn't care for the texture. Some sliced pork slices. Just seemed like boiled pork so super plain and bland. I think they should simmer it in seasoned liquid as to give it flavor internally. I had to dip this into a side condiment. Some chicken pieces, very small pieces almost shredded in size. Also pretty bland just like the pork slices. Ground pork, which again were bland but this also had a game-y taste to it that I didn't care for. This is where I think they can improve and just watch their quality control a bit more. Imitation Krab was fine. I rarely eat this, but it does add a nice burst of color to this otherwise monotone soup. Meatballs looked more like cut up sausages. Very dense and bouncey. Not a fan texturally. Quail Eggs were perfect, tender and supple. So this bowl would have been a pretty nice ride, but too many hiccups for me to not love it. Clean, well-appointed Vietnamese restaurant serving more than the usual pho and rice plates. Was excited to see banh xeo and banh khot on the menu, among other harder-to-find dishes. Ordered the banh xeo (mung bean flour "crepe" filled with sprouts, pork, and shrimp) served with all the herbs, lettuce, and nuoc cham. A large portion with crispy edges, but I wish they had removed the tails for the shrimp filling. My Uncle told me about this restaurant that took over where My Tho use to be; I use to eat at My Tho often as a kid. So naturally, my Aunt and I had to give it a try. After a long day of errands in the rain, we were starving. When we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by a group of elderly women who instantly sat us down. I ordered their Vietnamese fried egg rolls and pho tai. My Aunt ordered their vegetarian spring rolls, seafood chow mein (crispy noodles), and banh xeo. My pho tai came out first and the broth was tasty, a tad heavy on the cinnamon and star anise. It was perfect for the cold weather. The fried egg rolls were huge and delicious though the vegetables served more like a salad. The romaine lettuce was sliced so I wasn't able to wrap my egg roll in it. The pho and fried egg roll hit the spot for me. My Aunt does not eat pork and she was disappointed that the banh xeo had pork in it. We had them pack it to go so we could bring it home for the family. She was raving about their vegetarian spring rolls, she said it was one of the most tasty ones she's had in awhile. The star of our dinner was the seafood chow mein. The crispy noodles were pile high and the gravy it came with was very good (not too salty, had really good flavor). We enjoyed it so much that we returned a few days later and ordered takeout. My Aunt requested the vegetarian egg rolls and Seafood chow mein again (it hit the spot again for her). I tried the beef cubes over tomato rice which was a very good portion; great flavor and the beef was very tender. I was able to eat it again the following day. They allowed me to utilize as many takeout containers as I needed. Their pho was nice and hot but it was a tad too oily and sweet for me. The meatballs were hard and not as tender or tasty as I like it. The rice plate did not come with broken rice (perhaps due to it being close to closing). The egg cake was dry but had imitation crab which felt different. The porkchop was thin and dry. The shredded pork hit the spot (it lines up with other viet places). So my parents came to visit one night and I suggested to come here for dinner. We ordered the house special fried shrimp cake, Vietnamese pancake (for my mom) grilled pork & eggroll over vermicelli (for me), combo rice plate (for my daughter), Hanoi grilled pork vermicelli (for my dad), and salted plum soda (for my dad). The food was good but the fish sauce that came with all the meals lacked flavor and the chicken wing that was part of the combo rice plate was bland. Customer service was exceptional. The pho broth is very flavorful. I usually just get the rare beef & tendons, they give a big portion of tendons. Cooked well. Be nice if they gave you more than 3 small slices of jalapeño's. Service was quick and they give you ice cold water which was needed since it's very hot out today. The only thing I didn't like was the pricing on things, my bowl of pho was $15.95 and that's all I got. Tax in California is 10.75%, so $15.95 + $1.71 isn't $18.20. I know it's only off by .44 cents but you times this by all the customers that come daily and it adds up. I asked the waitress and she said it came out to $18.20 because of the tax. So I decided on dinner plans here for my wife and my 3 year old daughter because of the high rating and being that it was new. I used to live in san jose and would frequent some of the standout places (com tam thien huong, thien long, nam vang) to just give some context on my vietnamese food palette. So I was looking forward to this new vietnamese spot in the same plaza Vung Tau used to be. We ordered 3 items: Appetizer:grilled pork spring rolls Main course: Grilled pork chop rice plate with egg cake, shredded pork, and Hu Tieu Nam Vang Spring rolls: Pretty standard, came with a hoisin based sauce with crushed peanuts. $9 for 2 rolls cut in half (so basically 4 small pieces). For the price I was expecting at least the "Brodard" type of sauce which you can find at some establishments in san jose, but thats setting the bar too high. At least they added a fried egg roll wrapper in the middle for an extra crunch. Pork chop with broken rice plate: The order came out pretty quickly which caught me by surprise. I started to portion out the food for my family when I noticed the pork chop was still pink inside. I brought it to the attention of the server and showed her the pink. She apologized and went to the kitchen to let them know. I was expecting for them to redo my order, but they ended up just bringing a thinner piece of pork chop on a seperate plate. We were really hungry so we just ate what we had in front of us. The egg cake had bits of artificial krab inside? Kind of a weird filler as if pork or eggs were too expensive to use in its entirety? 30 minutes goes by and I see people that came after us get their food. At this time we were about done with our rice plate and then I decided to ask the female manager about our Hu Tieu. She said she will check on it and went to the back. She came back and said that they are making it right now. I asked why is it taking so long? She said that it takes a long time to make the noodles. Since she was there I then showed her the undercooked pork chop, and all she said was sorry. So when we get our Hu Tieu, the cook brought it out to us and said he was sorry for taking so long. I also showed him the undercooked pork chop and all he said was sorry. The Hu Tieu has rice noodles just like pho , the same packaged noodles that everyone else gets , and the manager has the audacity to tell me it takes long to cook the noodles? I call BS. They just forgot to make my order and didn't own up to forgetting. BTW: the Hu Tieu was terrible. Too much noodles , 2 shrimps, 2 meatballs, 2 slivers of flavorless pork belly , 2 chunks of old chicken, 1 piece of rubbery squid, and some ground pork which tasted weird. I think they also use MSG because since leaving the restaurant, I couldn't stop drinking water. Went to the cashier to pay and was taken aback by the lack of empathy for their mistakes. I told them the undercooked pork chop could have made my family and I sick, also forgetting about my noodle soup order when I have a hungry toddler waiting for food l, and they didnt even bat an eye. I asked her to take an item off the order and the female manager said, "We refried another pork chop for you right?". Well my review is my response to your question. Proper ettiquette for a restaurant would have been to at least take the item off the order, or prepare a whole new plate, not just the pork chop, or doing something to satisfy your new customer. I told her the food was no good and I will not be coming back. For all you yelpers, for the price I would take my money elsewhere. I wasn't particularly impressed by the service and it was kinda slow, taking half an hour if not more to come out. The Bun Cha Hanoi, Grilled pork, and shaken cube were technically olk. The flavors were there but not as rich as I'd expect - bit on the bland side, but I did not mind that. What was diabolical were the Bun Bo Hue and Beef stew. They were not at all authentic, and strongly tasted of pho broth being heavily substituted in. I was extremely disappointed. And the beef stew was quite literally pho broth. It was not a stew.
