Came here on a Sunday evening around 630pm. The place was not busy at all..maybe only 1 other customer there. We were greeted by this sweet elderly lady and informed us we could set anywhere. This place is fairly new only 6 months in. It's a very spacious and well decorated restaurant. Plenty of tables and booths. Each table had utensils, napkins, and sauces (sriracha, hoisin, chili oil, and hot garlic chili). We ordered fish cake, vermicelli bowl with grilled pork & egg roll, and combination pho w/ fresh noodle. I can only speak for the vermicelli bowl that I ordered since I'm not a pho the biggest fan of pho. However, my partner seemed to enjoy it since he finished the whole bowl with no complaints. The grilled pork was thinly sliced and well seasoned. The egg rolls had a delicious filling and a good size as well. The veggies were fresh. The fish sauce did taste a little diluted than what I'm used to. Overall enjoyed it! I'd come back here again. Especially for those egg rolls.

I'm new to the area and was looking for a vermicelli bowl and came across this restaurant. I called for take out and got their banh khot and vermicelli with grilled pork and eggroll. I didn't have to wait too long to get my order. The portion sizes were good and prices were not bad. The banh khot could be crispier. It had a decent amount of shrimp. The vermicelli portion was enough for two servings. I would come back again and try their pho and rice plates.

Short Rib Pho - the overall dish was pretty solid however, I wish the short rib was cooked a bit more since the meat was a bit tough to chew and wasn't fall off the bone. The pho broth was light and flavorful and I did enjoy the other thin beef slices. Vegan Shaken Tofu - good amount of tofu and veggies. The rice was cooked well and paired nice with the overall dish. The sauce wasn't overly sweet and the tofu was prepared well. My husband is a meat eater and he definitely approved of this dish! Mini Vietnamese Pancake - fried perfectly and the coconut flavor really powers through which I enjoyed. Really good wrapped in lettuce and dipped in their provided fish sauce. Even after air frying it later in the day, it was still good. This dish was definitely a highlight and I'd order it again. Fried Egg Rolls - fried perfectly and wasn't skimpy on the filling. It tasted good on its own, but even better dipped in the fish sauce and eaten with the provided lettuce. Service was fast and straight to the point and there's plenty of seating. It does get kind of smokey inside from the cooking, but that's an afterthought. Overall, if I'm in the area I wouldn't mind dining here again!

I'm always in this area whenever I go grocery shopping at Lion Supermarket and remember passing by this restaurant a few times, but never stopped by until recently when I was craving Vietnamese food. We arrived at noon on a Sunday and was surprised that there wasn't a wait even though it was busy. It was bigger than I expected with plenty of tables available. It was very clean, which I liked. My husband ordered a combo plate (grilled pork chop, fried chicken wings, and egg roll), and he enjoyed the savory dish, especially the crispy egg roll. I ordered a Rare Steak & Brisket pho and the broth was light but flavorful. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I saw some people order their 3 Color Dessert Drink and didn't wanna get FOMO so I also ordered one for to-go. I'm glad I did because it was delicious. Not too sweet and very refreshing. So glad I decided to stop by and can't wait to come back to try other items on their menu. Everything is also decently priced, which is another win in my opinion. I don't think I would have stopped by if it wasn't for all of the high reviews on Yelp!

This is in a busy area with lots of restaurants but there is plenty of parking. Inside is spacious, nice and clean. Good size food menu with lots to choose from. Average prices. The pho broth is delicious! Love the broth here and the noodles are always cooked perfectly. They give a good ratio of broth and noodles. I was not a fan of the banh xeo was on the soggy side, but everything else I have tried from here is delicious! Didn't get water refills when our waters were empty. Friendly staff, they always repeat the order back to make sure everything is correct. Definitely on the top of my list for Pho places in Newark.

Located in the Lion Plaza shopping center, Pho Ngoc Lan is a great new addition to the area. The space is clean and modern. I ordered the pho and appreciated that the broth was served piping hot, while the noodles had the perfect texture with a slight bite to them, so they held up well throughout the meal. The portions were generous, and the overall quality exceeded my expectations.

I've been looking for a place that serves solid bun cha Ha Noi and I finally found it! From the moment I got out of the car, I could smell the aroma of grilled meats and I was so excited. Everything was very fresh from the vermicelli, to the veggies/herbs, to the meats :) My only comment is that the sauce isn't as flavorful as many other places, I added a bit more fish sauce and it gave enough of a satisfactory kick but I know that might not be enough for others.

Pho Ngoc Lan Noodle House opened recently in My Tho's vacated space. Interior retrofitted with many murals, 3 flatscreens (golf, nbc news, news. Swiftly acknowledged, seated, given water by elderly woman. One of many on floor. Ordered. Soup came 10 minutes later. Drinks another 5. Offerings (usual Vietnamese): appetizers, pho, egg noodle soups, rice plates, rice vermicelli, drinks. Vegetarian... Sips: Mixed Bean dessert drink (6.5) -haven't had this in years. Maybe a decade. -came with 1/3 shaved ice on top. Bottom had the sweet sauce. In the middle was many kinds of jelly & 3 kinds of beans. 2 kinds got mushy so hard to see. -came with a soup to scoop up jellies & beans after liquid was finished. Too sweet at first. Ending ok. Slurps: Bun Rieu cua (tomato & crab soup)16.95 -broth had pork flava & not enough crab paste taste. Also lean pork slices, tomato chucks, fried tofu, cilantro, pork loaf, black pepper, rice noodles. -toppings on side: jalepeno slices, bean sprouts, lemon squeeze, red cabbage. Didn't ask for shrimp paste on side. Haven't had for years. -large portion. CC use: +3%. 4ish stars worthy! Quantity: reasonable Quality: ok haven't had for years. Difficult to compare. Parking on weekends difficult. Parking lot full.

Beautiful interior. Even better Banh xeo (savory crepe). Best one in the tri area so far. This is a try "mom and pop" place. Cutest grandma mans the register. She'll give you a big smile and ring you up after you eat. FYI: depending on the day, service can be slow. So, be prepared to chill for a while.

If you are looking for tasty meals, this is the spot. My family always stops here for lunch, the food has so much flavor with decent prices ! The Bun Bo hue is my fav !!!

This seems like a newly opened Vietnamese area with a large varieties of dishes on menu. Menu had a lot of things: pho, rice place, banh xeo, bun, etc... My boyfriend and I weren't feeling pho, so we tried the broken rice plate, banh xeo and bun rieu(tomato crab noodle). Overall, broken rice plate is pretty good. However, I would skip the bun rieu (they used crab cakes instead of my preferred crab meatballs. To each their own...) and banh xeo(no herbs, also the crepe is thin/gets soggy easily as compared to the ones I tried in other restaurant).

Pretty new pho/Viet spot in a very Asian centric retail strip. The inside is very colorful and pretty, lots of Asian floral vibes that I'm sure many find attractive. I also loved their table-side condiment set-up as it had 3-4 chili based sauces and a small bottle of pure fish sauce. Not many Viet places from this area go this far, so I'm gonna give them props. But in my first couple of outs during the winter months I've just tried a couple soups and an app. Since they are new I'm not too sure on how dialed in they are...yet. Even though fine for the most part, it seems they can tighten up on quality and execution. Fresh Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls ($8.50/4.5*) Pretty solid and rolled fresh. Springy wrapper, fresh veggies and vermicelli noodles and good proportion of protein. And absolutely delicious when dipped into their sweetish peanut sauce with a good dot of chili sambal. I could get these almost every time I come in. Rare Beef and Tendon Pho ($16/3.5*) They only have 1 size for soups and it is pretty large. I can't finish the broth. The broth comes out super hot (thermally) and is spiced lightly with a good beef to salt ratio. The proteins were fine, both the tender tendons and the sliced rare beef. The noodles are in a big ball and needs to be unraveled. Tons of noodles too, more than I prefer. I keep forgetting to ask them to switch out the noodles to fresh rice noodles which I think are thicker. They never ask so I just keep forgetting. Special Vietnamese Noodle Soup/Hu Tieu ($17/3*) I haven't had this in a while, so I tried it one cold evening. It's basically their pho broth and same rice noodles. Just topped with different proteins. There's 2-3 shrimps which were the best of the bunch. Nicely poached, not overcooked at all. Some calamari chunks that were kinda hard and chewy. Didn't care for the texture. Some sliced pork slices. Just seemed like boiled pork so super plain and bland. I think they should simmer it in seasoned liquid as to give it flavor internally. I had to dip this into a side condiment. Some chicken pieces, very small pieces almost shredded in size. Also pretty bland just like the pork slices. Ground pork, which again were bland but this also had a game-y taste to it that I didn't care for. This is where I think they can improve and just watch their quality control a bit more. Imitation Krab was fine. I rarely eat this, but it does add a nice burst of color to this otherwise monotone soup. Meatballs looked more like cut up sausages. Very dense and bouncey. Not a fan texturally. Quail Eggs were perfect, tender and supple. So this bowl would have been a pretty nice ride, but too many hiccups for me to not love it. I'll still be back to try a few more things, but I pretty much have to be in this area, as the draw is not quite there yet for me to want to drive for it. Maybe in time...

Clean, well-appointed Vietnamese restaurant serving more than the usual pho and rice plates. Was excited to see banh xeo and banh khot on the menu, among other harder-to-find dishes. Ordered the banh xeo (mung bean flour "crepe" filled with sprouts, pork, and shrimp) served with all the herbs, lettuce, and nuoc cham. A large portion with crispy edges, but I wish they had removed the tails for the shrimp filling. Also ordered a tea, served in a to go cup and sweetened with honey, and a side of pho broth, Which was served piping hot with a generous amount of thinly sliced onions, green onions, and cilantro. The broth here is very star anise forward for those of you who prefer it that way. Service is friendly and efficient.

Clean and well-kept, with a relaxed, quieter vibe as the restaurant winds down about 30 minutes before closing

However, the quality and service needs improvement. As soon as my family and I arrived, the cashier lady expected us to be ready to order. There were no other customers in line. I wanted to get the Vietnamese mung bean layered cake aka Bánh Da Lợn, but they only had the Pandan jello aka Thạch Rau Câu Lá Dứa. When I was ready to order, the lady just stood there standing and then said ready now (sounding somewhat annoyed)! I ordered a ham combo sandwich and an avocado smoothie for my kids. I asked if they used a lot of sugar and opted to lessen the sugar amount if possible. She did not offer the sugar percentage and just walked over to start making the avocado smoothie. Then a customer came in and she stopped to greet him, took his order, then finished our avocado smoothie. The avocado smoothie was smooth and creamy but not very enjoyable as it lacked flavor. My kids drank only a few sips and we ended up tossing almost an entire drink even after saying it was like avocado "ice-cream". It was a hot day too. The sandwich took a while to come out considering they had more than four staffs in the back (you could see the kitchen from the front register), but they still moved very slow. Some of them were just chilling and staring at the front of the store. The French bread was fresh and tasty though. They did not add much filling except for carrots and radish. Limited meat, pate sauce, and barely taste the aioli. Sandwich was still good with the classic, traditional Vietnamese sandwich taste but the one in San Jose did not skip on the quantity in ingredients like they did in this location. Our jello ended up have a mold growing so we did not try it. Texture looked solid though. We also bought the pork sausages which were tiny but tasty. Duc Huong for sure wins in all three categories for sandwiches, pork sausage, and having the Pandan layered cake I liked. Overall, this was still a decent place to get Vietnamese sandwiches. Going in with less expectations would make the experience better. They had a large table seating so customers could eat inside or order meals like a normal restaurant.

The Sour Bì Was the Last Straw…read more I've had both good and bad experiences with Pho Newark Com Tam Thanh over time, and for a while I considered it a decent, average place to grab Vietnamese food in the area. I also tend to give restaurants multiple chances before leaving a negative review because I understand that every place can have an off day. Unfortunately, I've now seen enough of a pattern that I'm done. Today I ordered the Combination Cơm Tấm and was utterly disappointed by the drop in quality. The bì (shredded pork skin) smelled sour and was completely mushy, despite the meal having just been purchased. It genuinely seemed spoiled, and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The pork chop was bland and overly fatty, the fish sauce was nothing special, and the bánh mì was extremely disappointing as well. This wasn't an isolated issue either. On another visit, I found a hair in my food. And on some evenings, a staff member would clean the floors with such a strong bleach-smelling cleaner while customers were still eating that the chemical smell completely took over the dining area. Trying to enjoy a meal while your nose is full of cleanser is not exactly appetizing. I don't write a bad review because of one mediocre dish. I give places multiple tries because I want to be fair. But when the unpleasant experiences keep repeating, eventually it stops feeling like bad luck and starts looking like a quality-control problem. The sour-smelling, mushy bì today was the final straw. I can forgive average food. I'm not gambling with spoiled pork skin. Nope, nope. I'm done.

Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon! This watering hole will surely host someone you know if you're a local and if not, get to know the owners as I hear they have origins in the community!
