I ordered their veggie ravioli and it was a little bland for me. The appetizers were ok. Glad my team at work decided to come back here for lunch. My opinion changed this time as I ordered their pizza instead. OMG soo love, love, love their pizza. I had their Fungo pizza and the flavor was a Bomb! Yummy taste - combination of wild mushroom, cheese and truffle oil. Love the balance of creamy sauce against the lightly charred thin crust. First Valentine's Day as hubby and wife, and we wanted to do something casual! My husband found this spot because it was on Michelin Guide. They offered a Valentine's Day special menu, but we came here for all the carbs hehe. They were known for the chewy, blistered crusts and standout toppings for their pizzas. We ordered the Jalapeño pizza to share and it did not disappoint! It delivered and was a chewy crust. For appetizers, we were basic and ordered fries, but also I was intrigued by the fried artichokes. They were so yummy, they had a hint of lemon and the sauce paired perfectly. For our main dishes we both ordered lasagna, and it was something you couldn't mess up on. It was very flavorful, filling, and hearty. So comforting. Lastly, for dessert I ordered the Hazelnut Tartufo which gave off the taste of a Ferrero Rocher. My husband wanted the chocolate soufflé which was only offered on the Valentine's Day special menu, but we asked the server if we could order it and they kindly let us! Recently had a lunch here with my colleagues. It has nice options of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. We ordered truffle fries to share as an appetizer and they were delicious. With my latest visit, I am unfortunately going to have to bring my previous review down a notch. First off, servers are still great and that hasn't changed. That being said, care on more basic servicing seems to have gone down hill. I ordered a glass of wine and the glass that my wine came in was obviously not washed well. I could immediately tell from a glance so I would think anyone unloading the dishes, lining up the cups, or pouring the wine would have been able to see this as well. It was kind of gross and an unappealing way to start the meal. They speedily replaced the glass when asked but I'd hope that such a glass would never even reach a customer's table? That aside, I hope I came on an off day of sorts but the food was only passable. The pizza's toppings were very sparse and for a freshly baked pizza it was weirdly soggy. And my boyfriend's was waaaay too salty, even by my boyfriend's standards and he eats generally likes salty food. 5/26/25 Doppio Zero 160 Castro St Mountain View, CA 94041 We went for lunch on Memorial Day, popular place, the large bar and table dining area was about ¾ full. There was lots of parking in the city free parking structure behind the restaurant. We were seated promptly and service was attentive and good throughout our lunch. We ordered the Fried Calamari and Shrimp, Fregola Del Pescatore and Ravioli. The Shrimp and Calamari was a nice combination and fried with a light breading to perfection. The Calamari was very tender. It was accompanied with a bland Marinara sauce and they didn't have Tabasco sauce to kick it up and make it more like a cocktail sauce. The seafood pasta lacked flavor and the couscous like Fregola got stuck in the clam shells so a fettuccine or linguine would probably be better for this dish. The spinach ravioli had a nice rich cheese taste. This is mostly a pizza and appetizer place with limited pasta and entree menu selections compared with other Italian venues. I parked 1-2 blocks away and walked over, not too bad for a weeknight. I decided on the margarita la michoacana and wow, that cocktail was beautiful. Great taste and aesthetics! I would definitely order it again. We ordered some appetizers to share, and food came out at a great rate. The restaurant was crowded and lively. I decided on the salmone alla griglia even though, yes, this place specializes in pizza. I will probably order a pizza next time but was intrigued by the black rice. I think they need to cook the rice longer though, it was very firm. I didn't wind up finishing it, and took it home. I liked the ambiance, however, I think the restaurant itself was a little small. My friend and I were seated by the door so there was a lot of traffic passing and the tables with the stools were quite snug for what we ordered, especially with another party sitting right next to us. Silicon Valley Pizza Week was why we came here. We always wanted to come here but this was our first time. It was good. We had the Vessuvio pizza. It was delicious. However, it was a busy day and I was already tired from traffic coming from work. My wife is also pregnant, so I wouldn't have her do it. We decided to pay extra for delivery. Here lies the issue. We ordered a margherita pizza and a jalapeno pizza. Easy enough, no? You'd be surprised. The boxes were stacked, the receipt on top and clearly stating "MARGHERITA PIZZA X1, JALAPENO PIZZA X1" plain as day. The boxes arrive. We open, and guess what we find? Two margherita pizzas. Where is the jalapeno pizza? Probably where the food service's brain is as well. I understand that this is a first world problem, trust me. Yet we are still paying for a service, why is that so difficult to achieve? Two pizzas, that's all. They weren't complicated orders at all. Yet the number of steps required to screw this up is phenomenal. At no step along the way did anyone think to fix anything. Did they receive the receipt, read a margherita and jalapeno pizza and still put two margherita pizzas in the oven? Who knows! Did they maybe prepare the two pizzas but then mix up boxes, stack them, tag the receipt, and call it a day with no additional check? Could be! I get it. Capitalism sucks and this establishment is probably paying these workers minimum wage, so they could literally not be paid enough to care. But the enemy is Big Doppio Zero, not me. Brothers and sisters, we should be united in this front, not tearing each other down. But you forced my hand on this one. I didn't get my pizza and my day is immeasurably ruined. EDIT: So I'm back because I finally actually had a slice. That didn't make anything better. In fact, I'm somehow even more distraught. My friends and I visited Doppio Zero on 03/17/25 for dinner, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. Service & Atmosphere Right from the start, the hostess left a bad first impression. When I approached her to put my name on the waitlist, she looked like she absolutely hated every minute of her job--her bored, uninterested attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. I get that hosting can be a repetitive job, but a little friendliness goes a long way. We were quoted a 30-minute wait, which was fine since some of my friends were still on their way. Since it was raining and freezing outside, we waited in the lobby. Once our table was ready, the hostess barely put in any effort, simply saying "follow me this way" in the most lifeless tone. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely not a welcoming start. The overall vibe of the restaurant was very busy and noisy--which is understandable for a popular spot, but it was so loud that I could barely hear my friend sitting diagonally from me. I had to lean in constantly, which made conversation difficult. On the plus side, the bussers were super efficient, clearing plates quickly without making us feel rushed, which I really appreciated. Food & Drinks Once we were seated, I ordered the house white wine, which paired beautifully with the Doppio Zero White Pizza--easily my favorite dish of the night. It had a great balance of flavors, and I'd definitely order it again. For appetizers, we tried the Truffle Fries, and honestly, they were the worst truffle fries I've ever had. They were just shoestring fries with a faint hint of truffle oil--no Parmesan, no richness, nothing special. If I wanted plain fries, I could've gotten them anywhere. Definitely not worth ordering again. We also ordered the Diavola pizza, which was solid--not as amazing as the white pizza, but still flavorful and well-made. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu, which was incredibly creamy and delicious. I would come back just for this. I also had my eye on the Limoncello Sponge Cake, but I'll have to save that for next time! Final Thoughts Overall, Doppio Zero had some hits and misses. (Not so) hidden gem on Castro! Came here on Tuesday night at 8:30 pm. To my surprise, the restaurant was packed despite it being late on a weeknight. The restaurant was very dark, and it was filled with many people having conversations with one another. We were served and attended to very quickly. We had to order the Doppio Zero pizza, after all, it's named after the place! First, the waiter brought us some complimentary bread, which we dipped into balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Who can go wrong with fresh and warm bread? A great opener to our Doppio Zero pizza, which was topped with burrata, prosciutto, and arugula. The warmness of the crust complimented the cool nature of the burrata and prosciutto perfectly. It was the perfect size for my friend and I to share as a (somewhat) late night dinner. I will say though -- the pizza was cut into fourths, and it was kinda hard to eat. It was hard to hold the slice without the arugula or prosciutto falling off. I ended up having to resort to using a fork and knife, but delicious nonetheless. Price-wise, Doppio Zero can lean on the higher side, but I'd say it's expected for a Castro Street restaurant. Although I only ordered one dish, I was utterly surprised with Doppio Zero -- a great Italian staple in the Bay. Thought the food was overrated Like many downtown mountain view restaurant, Doppio is plastered with local awards and maybe I saw a Michelin star there. I don't like strong, flavorful stuff at italian restaurants. I guess I don't like bland flavors either. The doppio zero sounded like it had the makings of a hit. Prosciutto, fresh veggies, the "naan-like" dough (never heard this one, why market like this), and burratta. The texture of the dough was ok to good, it was soft and airy inside (I like). There were several burnt spots on my dough. Whatever, it happens. But I just felt like the place hyped itself up so much for that. The prosciutto was... I thought it tasted the same as the ones from costco. Sorry! I did not think it was special. The burratta didn't have character nor anything memorable about it. While picking up my order, the host took so long to get to the front and grab my order. I understand that they were helping someone at the table. But really, not even "I'll get back with you in a moment" ? And after getting to me, I was asked to wait for another lady who was supposed to grab my food and get my money. My favorites were the truffle french fries and mushroom pizza. The french fries are superrrrrr thin and crispy with the perfect amount of truffle flavor. The mushroom pizza is loaded with different types of mushrooms and the white sauce, cheese, and garlic all melds together in a yummy bite. The pizzas are a personal size and come cut in 4 slices so I think it's great to order multiple things to share, so you can try different pies and see which one you like best. "From Fine Dining to Fast Decline" I've been coming to Doppio Zero in Mountain View since 2021, and it's heartbreaking to see how drastically the quality and service have gone downhill. Today was the final straw. We walked in right as the restaurant opened at 5 PM, just looking to grab a quick bite. The host (an Asian girl) greeted us with an attitude that set the tone immediately. When I mentioned we didn't have a reservation, she flatly replied, "Well, our tables are booked, so if you finish before 6:45 PM you can sit outside, but we'll need the table back after that." I remember thinking to myself--what a warm welcome that is. Still, we decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. Their "Michelin-starred" pizzas arrived undercooked to the point that I could literally knead the dough like Play-Doh. The crust was a clumpy, gummy mess, and every bite left a trail of raw flour snowing onto my napkin. I even took photos because it was that unbelievable. The mozzarella claimed to be fresh on the Margherita was like chewing on rubber which means it was not fresh at all. Over the past few years, I've watched this place slide from a charming, quality-driven Italian spot to what now feels like a rushed, overhyped fast-dining experience with fine-dining prices. The service has lost its warmth, and the food has lost its integrity. If you're looking for a real Italian experience, I highly recommend Terún Pizza instead--better parking, friendlier service, and most importantly, consistently excellent food. This place got packed quickly on a Friday night. Decided to order the buffalina to go. To be honest the staff was a bit curt and it seemed like some of them had bad attitudes. Thankfully I was just ordering to go but it is something I observed as I was waiting for my order. The pizza was done very quickly, less than 10 minutes so that was great. I decided to take a bite as soon as I left and it was really good. The crust was crispy and chewy at the same time. The cheese was melty and there was a perfect amount of char on the pizza. My original intention was to take this back to the hotel and I did but it definitely tastes best fresh. When we arrived, the host informed us that there was no wait for two at the bar so we took the seats. we were nestled up in a corner so it felt very private, probably better than dining on the main floor. I'd say overall I prefer the San Carlos location - it's brighter and a bit more aesthetically pleasing (clean simple decor, lots of white), and I had better food experiences there. There were two bartenders, and both of them were very attentive to us. Neither of us were ordering alcohol, and that did not change how we were treated at the bar. Our food came incredibly fast, and service was five stars. Food was just okay (again, for this location). We ordered Brussels Sprouts ($16!!), the Vesuvio pizza and Tartufo dessert. In the future I'd pass on all three of these. The brussels sprouts were pretty good, but when I went to pay the check, I was shocked that they were $16. I didn't notice the price when we ordered and for $16, I would've rather paid the difference and ordered second pizza ($19-25) or another small hearty plate. The Vesuvio pizza flavors were ok. I found the cured pork was baked which dried it out almost to a jerky texture. A good problem to have, there was a TON of burrata cheese (making it heavy, and wet). Unfortunately our pizza did not arrive hot but came very fast. It almost seemed like that pizza was maybe made for another table in error so they rerouted it to us; it actually arrived before the brussels sprouts. When I've done in the San Carlos location, the pizzas always come out super hot from the brick oven. The dough is consistently 5 stars, however. I kept dipping it into all the leftover pizza juices on my plate. TIP: I highly recommend asking for the chili oil to glaze over your pizza (a hack a learned a couple years ago any time I'm having wood/brick oven pizza). I prefer other pizzas like the Diavola, La Carne, Siciliana, Fungo or Doppio Zero. Finally, dessert. When it arrived, it was definitely not what we expected based on the menu description. Basically, the tartufo is a hazelnut gelato ball with a chocolate fudge core covered in a little bit of praline and meringue crumbs. Tasted really good but was not anything too special. I would've loved to seen it reconstructed so that the gelato was atop a meringue based topped with praline caramel glaze. Looking for a place for dinner for a party of 6 (two kiddos). There was so initial confusion as some guy told my husband he will help him and then never returned. I then went in and placed my name down with the hostess. The hostess was good and took my number - she quoted us 20-30mins but I got a text after 10 minutes. We were given a high top table with tall chairs - it was actually pretty tight. Nectarine salad - very refreshing and we were able to share amongst the 4 adults. We ordered 3 pizzas and they were delicious. The kids enjoyed it and so did all of us adults. Price point was good. Will return. read more

Perfect pizza here. I was on the hunt for pizza since the best pizza I had happened to be in Japan. They had imported their flour, cheese, and tomatoes from Italy. Doppio Zero has a nice ambiance with warm lighting and stylish decor. Service was attentive as they checked in often and kept our waters filled, which was appreciated. We ordered the Fungo and Bufalina pizzas. The mushrooms on the Fungo were generous, but overall the pizzas were underwhelming since there was too much crust and not enough sauce, so it often felt like eating plain bread. For the price, the portions didn't feel worth it. Outdoor seating is very limited, and the wait was long on a Sunday. I wouldn't go back since there are better pizza spots nearby. read more
