I like Blue Line's deep dish! I know they do other things, but that's what I come for. And IMO, it's (1) cheaper (2) healthier than people give it credit for. Is it healthy or cheap? No. What I mean is, if you break down their pizza (as I did in one pic below bc I have a cold, so I got mine to go), it's a cornmeal crust with a bunch of toppings and cheese, topped by a thick layer of tomato-based sauce. The crust is not super thin, but neither is it super thick and bready. It basically forms a shell around the toppings and sauce. The toppings can be healthy depending on what you choose. This time, I got 1/2 brass monkey 1/2 free bird. Brass monkey has a lot of sausage and ricotta, so not a healthy choice. Free bird has a really great amount of chicken! ... and some bacon, but I chose it. You could easily get a delicious veggie and chicken pizza, and it'd be better nutritionally. There's a good amount of cheese, but it's not overwhelming or super greasy. If you want in-your-face cheese, add more for another dollar or two. I like if the way it is. The tomato sauce is thick and surprisingly tangy. That reassures me it's not loaded down with sugar. Basically, is this super healthy? No -- in terms of my eating out/takeout, that would be a sashimi salad, or salmon with lightly steamed vegetables and a bit of sweet potato or quinoa. But it's decent for a Friday night out (or in) when you're not really trying to be healthy, but also not making a point of doing the opposite. As for price -- this is March 2026, and the large half-and-half composed of 2 of their priciest options was $39.14 after tax before tip. Now, that seems a bit high for one pizza. But I didn't eat all day, and 2 slices (out of 8) filled me right up. 3 slices would have left me too full, but probably still thinking "worth it!" 4 slices would make me super uncomfortably regretting-my-life-choices overfull. Sure, you can get cheaper pizza/takeout. But this is good stuff, like pasta toppings on a good cornmeal crust. If you ordered 2 solid pastas for under $40, you'd think that was a good deal! Well, this is 3-4 adult's worth of good pizza for under $40. Also, I used to cook and bake a lot more than I do now, and there's a lot of work and ingredient here, more than I'd commit to at twice the price. It would start making sense for me to mix up the crust and buy good cheese and meat and tins of San Marzanos if I needed 4 pizzas, i.e. to feed 15-20 people (with finger foods, salad, sides, dessert). Otherwise I'd just order here. Oh! I can't remember the last time I got takeout here. So they now have a shiny red takeout cabinet to the left as you walk in, and you just put in the last 4 digits of your phone # and your locker pops open! We made advance reservations for our group, but unfortunately it seemed our table had been double booked, so we had to wait a bit to be seated. We were also offered outdoor seating, which wasn't ideal on a chilly, drizzly winter evening which is the main reason for taking off a star. Once seated, service was great and the servers were very attentive. The food was affordable and delicious for our work group of 14 with plenty of leftovers for everyone to take home. The Little Star Blue Line pizza was our favorite. The chicken wings and shishito peppers were also very good. The salads were huge. We preferred the Caesar over the mixed salad, which felt like it could use a bit more citrus. We also appreciated being able to charge alcoholic drinks separately, which made things easy for a large group. Overall, a solid spot for group dining with great service and good food. read more

Great food, service and ambiance. Enjoyed an evening with friends at Blue Line pizza. While they have lovely outdoor seating with heaters, it was a little chilly for us and we sat at a table inside. Server was very attentive with ordering, recommendations and keeping out glasses full. We shared the tequila lime chicken wings, a spinach with goat cheese salad and a very tasty pizza with arugula, pear and goat cheese. I love Blue Line. I like to keep it simple here and always order the basic Margarita pizza. It's so delicious and fresh. My favorite salad here is hands down, the Bacon Blue! It's so yummy. The garlic bread appetizer is a no-brainer too. If you can, sit outdoors. I've only sat indoors once but outside is preferable for the downtown ambience. Only once was I served wine from a bottle that I could tell, had been open for a while because the wine wasn't good. And I always order the same thing, so I could tell. A minor nuisance. Ordered a small size pizza with the cornmeal deep dish crust, half classic, and half wild mushroom with added toppings. The pie didn't taste as good as what I've gotten in the past at other Blue Line locations (Campbell, Santa Clara, etc.), but it wasn't bad. The experience was the real disappointment. We ordered and paid online for the pizza, then when we arrived, we informed them we wanted to dine in, ordering beverages and asking for the side we had ordered with the pizza. They gave us everything we needed, providing sufficient service in the restaurant's casual and simple outdoor seating area. But when we paid for the drinks before leaving, we then noticed we were double charged for the side item that was already paid for in advance via the online order. When we requested a refund for the overcharge, the employee resisted, claiming we had only paid for extra pizza toppings. When we showed her our itemized receipt, it was only then that she issued a refund... That was a lot of trouble that I think the staff could have easily corrected after we brought to their attention that they had made a mistake. However, I take a fork and separated the toppings from the crust, since I don't normally eat much bread. I could see immediately how many toppings were piled on!! I ate one slice and it was very filling. I tried the crust and was pleased with the nice crunch! Our friend enjoyed a nice red wine with our meal. I posted a photo of the Chicago Chopped pizza that we loved ever so much! Modifications were made, and it was worth it! That ooey-gooey cheese and veggies (mushrooms and black olives) were the perfect addition. Our server was friendly, and attentive. The pizza seemed to arrive quickly, since we were unwavering in our decision. The ambiance is very plain. It is a quaint little space. There is some abstract art on the wall. There was a party of about ten people inside with us at the time, and a smaller party of 3 came in as we were leaving. It wasn't too noisy. Very family, group, and kid friendly. My friend took us to this deep dish pizza restaurant before heading out to the club nearby and I could say that this is the best deep dish pizza I've had! He actually was able to preorder them online and once we arrived, our order was ready and we were able to enjoy our food at their relaxing outdoor table area. I was a bit surprised with the size as the last deep dish pizza I had at a different location was a bit bigger in circumference, but after getting satiated I realized that this is the perfect size. Hence, I remember getting full after one slice, but here I was able to enjoy a couple pieces of the garlic bread and a slice of the blue line. After that, I was getting pretty full but of course I had to take a bite of my partner's Wild Mushroom pizza because it looked too good but I didn't have anymore room for one whole piece lol. The blue line was perfectly 'deep dished' filled with a great ratio of toppings and the sauce, while the breading also stood out. I think the garlic bread was the best part as this was one of the fanciest presented garlic bread I've had in my life, esp with all the garnish. We were weary of crowds after fighting our way through the German Festival, when we stumbled upon this location. When I lived in SF, I always ate Paxti's pizza, and I was very excited to see that they serve deep dish pizzas. We went in and were told that it would be a 20 minute wait as a soccer team had just left and absolutely thrashed the place. This was fine, with me, so I milled around outside and reviewed the menu. After about 20 minutes, I had decided that I wanted to order about 5 different pizzas. Of course, this wouldn't be practical for a family of 6, so we decided on the garlic bread and a Chicago chopped with red chili flakes (for the littles). The garlic bread came out fairly quickly and I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation. I was very happy to see the piles of fresh basil in top of the perfect slices of bread. Each bite was crisp and refreshing without have the kick that fresh garlic can have. The marinara sauce was top notch! Fresh with wonderfully juicy chunks of ripe tomatoes. When the pizza came out, I immediately checked the bottom of it. I've been to many deep dish restaurants and the bottom of the crust is usually soggy. This one was crisp and nicely covered with cornmeal. It was piping hot, stodgy and did not buckle under the weight of the toppings. I used a knife and fork to eat it, but I could have easily used my hands. With each bite you could taste the care and love that went into making the pizza. I would come back multiple time a week if I lived in the area and I definitely want to try the rest of the menu. Sorry Paxti's. I have a new favorite! read more

I love white pizza so particularly enjoyed the mushroom and truffle half, but the Hawaiian was solid too with a cornmeal crust reminiscent of Gino's back in Chicago. Not quite at the level of my favorite Chicago spots (Pequod's and Lou's), but possibly my favorite in the Bay. The bill for a small pizza came out to $28 with tax and tip, which is pretty decent value given it's enough for 2 if you aren't too hungry (or also get a side). Ordering is through QR codes at the table, but waiters were fairly good about checking in and refilling water even though we were sat outside. I came here for dinner with a large group of 10. They were able to accommodate our party easily as it was only 6pm on Saturday. Service was good and friendly. We ordered 3 large deep dish pizzas and that was enough for our group. We had the Blue Line, Chicago Chop and Tipsy Pig. My partner craved deep dish yet I've never had one. Google helped us find Blue Line. For all the pizzas they offer 3 different crusts - thin crust, cauliflower crust, and deep dish; 2 sizes - small and large. We ordered a large deep dish with two flavors half & half - Wild Mushroom & White Truffle Oil, and Aphrodite. My favorite was definitely mushroom & truffle oil. Both mushroom and truffle were flavorful while not overpowering the other. It was a good balance. Aphrodite was also good, but we were expecting some kind of sauce beneath the toppings. It was too dry. Things to improve: 1. The crust was very thick - half of the pizza's depth. It was thicker than any of the deep dish my partner has had before. 2. The deep dish crust was made of cornmeal. Given its thickness, towards the edge it tasted like cornbread. If you don't like cornbread or you are allergic to corn, beware. 3. The pizza was too dry. I remember not being a fan of their deep dish when I first tried it, but I liked it better this time around. We ordered the Blue Line pizza to compare, since we love Zachary's spinach deep dish, and this seemed like a close cousin, albeit with ricotta. Alas, it just wasn't as flavorful as Zachary's spinach pie, which amazingly manages to shine even without the added umami flavor that meat often lends. We also ordered the Chicago Chop, which is a classic meat pie, but none of us were really a fan. It just lacked flavor, which is pretty shocking, given how many fatty and salty meats are in this pizza (pepperoni, bacon, and salami just to name a few). Our favorite ended up being the Free Bird, a chicken pizza that was flavor packed. My ranking would be the Free Bird followed by the spinach, but my husband liked the spinach least. I'd still say I prefer Zachary's spinach (as well as their deep dish overall) and Patxi's, but Blue Line is still a solid choice.
