I have been here before as it is my Harlem backup but not my first place of preference. It depends on what you're getting and who does it. While I have felt they were worthy of being a backup, not any longer. It's been awhile since I've been here, so I called and asked for the price of a SNS manicure. After a minute pause of waiting for her to translate the query to someone else, I was quoted $34. Since English is not their first language she just grabbed on to the word "manicure" and did not understand SNS. Needless to say when it was time to pay, I was quoted $60. After warning the staff that they must be more careful in the future I looked down and saw the sloppy job that was done on my daughter hands. Doree's staff should be embarrassed and ashamed. Didi and Helen are masterfully skilled nail techs. Any design using any application. They stay abreast the latest trends and techniques. And they take their time. Spa is quiet, clean and relaxing. Didi does great eyelashes and wax. people always ask me if my eyelashes are mine because they look so natural. And I really love NeNee's pedicures. and gives awesome massages. It's been several visits now and just wanted to share my appreciation for the workers who are kind, attentive, and take their time to do great work! So far Leo has been my nail tech, and today I had Helen who got the perfect length and shape for my pink coffin nails. Leo did an excellent job with my neon look from my prior visit. The customers here I have noticed are very nice. The woman next to me had the cutest color and almond shaped nails and she let me take a picture. Her nail tech was Michelle. I'm glad to see so many good nail techs here! Ive only worked with Leo until today. Tip: ATM on site, cheaper with cash, gel pedi and powder mani with tips are about $130. They are gentle and kind, and if you let them know what you are hoping to achieve they will work with you. I feel comfortable expressing what I do and do not like, very customer oriented. Highly recommend! They also take their time and are very organized in scheduling apts! Also very responsive! Doree is more expensive than your average place and certainly more so than most places in the area. A regular manicure and basic pedicure combo will run you $40 (or $37.50 if you pay with cash). However here I am, about 4 days later, with a perfectly intact manicure and pedicure. My hands and feet look the same as day 1! That's either some sort of nail magic, or the quality of product and application is what makes the cost justified. Doree holds sanitation standards to the highest degree from what I saw. Each pedicure station was outfitted with a plastic covering for each use. Every client got a newly opened package of tools, including a disposable scrubber. The place itself is spotless, without any of the cringe worthy stuff that one can see at your average nail place. If you don't want to wait too long, book an appointment or call ahead to get an estimate of how long it will take. I will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely love this place. I have been here a few times and each visit gets better and better. Each time i got a pedicure. They took their time with each step. I love how clean everything is and all the protective equipment they used. My feet always come out perfect. Also, surprisingly each time i go, the man does a pedicure on me. I absolutely love it. I can sit back and trust him fully. I appreciate that so much. The other visits i have only done a manicure. This last time, i did a powder dipped polish instead. I actually like it alot more. I didnt find any specific color i liked so i went with a French tip. Im SO glad i did. They came out so beautiful. It was truly worth it. The regular pedi and powder mani costs $77 with tax on card. I went for the first time to get my nails done per recommendation, spend extra money for protective, nail polish in jail. In less than a few hours later several of my nails are cracked and broken contacted the facility to speak with the owner. The receptionist hung the phone up in my face. I called immediately back to say why did you hang up the phone in my face stated owner was not there, and then proceeded to hang the phone up again. I had a great time getting a mani/pedi here today! I got a dip mani and a signature pedicure. The salon was clean and the women working here were very nice and helpful! The spa pedicure was so relaxing. I loved the 10 minute hot stone massage! The dip manicure was also great and my nail technician really helped me picked my color out, which I appreciated. I'm very fortunate to not have had to wait a long time to be seen. I knew I wanted nail extensions and an ombre look along with eye lash extensions. I only waited about 15 mins until Michelle was ready. Never had her before. We agreed on a design for my nails and they came out beautifully. Next was eye lash extensions. Also never had them before but was happy with the classic look and it was not too expensive, only $85. I chose the cat eye look. It was over an hour but I was able to just relax and enjoy the pampering. I'm 36 weeks and wasn't sure if I could lay on my back but Michelle folded up a blanket for me to be slightly elevated and it was enough. The people at this place cannot manage their time. Even with a reservation you will wait as much as 1/2 hour. The place is a bit ratchet and broken down. The people who work here are yelling at each other in a language I don't understand but whatever they're saying- it's not nice. When they do get to you the pedicure is just OK. With all the nail salons in NYC you can do so much better. This place was good years ago when they opened- but if you read the recent reviews- which I wish I had before I went here - you will see some pretty bad experiences. First salon in a long time that I've gone to that the gel manicure stays on for longer than 3 weeks without chipping, peeling, etc. Went back last night after stopping in earlier in the day. Told me it was a 1/2 hour wait so I asked if I can come back later. They told me 6pm and then I said ok no problem and gave them my name. I came back at 6pm and they soaked off my gel and then took another walk in before me that seemed like she also came back from the busy afternoon rush. Anyway, they rushed doing my gel manicure. Cut my cuticles without putting the gloves with the lotion on. The lady next to me received a back massage as she was waiting to dry her gel mani and I didn't get one. So I asked for it! Such inconsistent service or maybe I just go when it's not busy! They definitely don't treat each person the same. read more

I went just powder they ended up doing powder and gel to achieve the look. And the gel kept peeling off I had to return 3x to fix my nails. I've been a long time customer of Doree ever since we moved into the neighborhood. But I was pretty disappointed with the rush I felt today in the shop. My husband and I came in for a pedicure and right after we started a woman came in saying she needed to be out by 1 pm. At this point, the quality of my pedicure went down. It felt rushed, my scrub was minimal there was barely any basic massage or rubbing. My pedicure started at 12:00 and I was out of there by 12:20. We'll put it this way, my husband who didn't get any color on his toes, just a pedicure, was done after I was. I received a full pedicure with color. It was very fast. The color that I chose definitely required a third coat, but they didn't even pause to ask because there were waiting customers. I gotta admit, I'm hesitant to return. read more

Just had a terrible experience at this place. Asked for dip pedicure which they told me they would not do even though they do dip manicure and offered to me gel instead. I chose one of their spa options. And for some reason my massage didn't come until the very end. When she was polishing my nails, my big toes kept hitting the UV light thing.. I don't have much toe dexterity due to a medical condition. The nail tech clearly got upset and told me that it's my fault the nails are getting ruined. And I told her I didn't even want this service, the service I wanted doesn't require this nonsense. I was so upset I couldn't enjoy my massage, canceled my manicure and went to pay only to discover that my pedicure was $70 instead of the printed $42 on the menu. I did get gel color .... so I was expecting to pay more.. but they upcharged $30 for gel color ??? What a fucking rip off ... do they think we are total and utter Morans??? And I freaking tipped this chick.. I don't know why I did that.. wish I had not. She got upset because I expressed to her that my pedicure was really short . She started insulting me in chinese . I know this because the other nail technicians looked back to stare at me . They do a great job with Blue Harmony dip powder gel. I love it! Dede is masterful. There are a ton of colors to choose from. Even though I came to get them redone after 3 weeks, I could have gone another 1-2 weeks! Really great experience. My nails are still healthy and strong. Okay taking them back to 5 stars! I'm not sure if they read their reviews, but they've GREATLY improved their dip powder skills. Now any tech is awesome at this. I really have no reason to go anywhere else, and I regret it every time I do. I did a couple mani/pedis near my job instead, and I have to say doree's will just be my go to from now on (along with Raquelle's on 106th if I can't get an appointment here). Just some minor things I really really appreciate besides the fantastic work and impeccable cleanliness: -Their good attitude and the fact that they never upcharge you. If you say you want a basic and not spa pedicure, they are totally fine with that. As I write this, I just had a pedicure where I declined to pay extra for callus removal gel and massage, and the tech visibly huffed at me and then didn't even buff my heels at all. At doree's they do an amazing job even if you're not paying for a bunch of little things. -They have a lot of little add-ons included in the service, like really buffing your calluses with scrub, paraffin on your heels, nice small things like that. -They are honest and transparent about prices. If I call and ask how much a service costs, I know here I will pay exactly that amount. I went to a place a couple blocks away where I went to pay and was told taking gel off feet and hands is an extra FIFTY DOLLARS. What the heck? At least tell me before the service is rendered so I can walk out! All in all, in a world of mediocre, shady, or questionably clean salons, Doree's is a shining diamond! read more

I've been looking for a nail salon close to my area that does Powder Dip, and I found this spot! They seemed really knowledgeable about it and even asked me how I knew about it (I previously had it done previous times in a few of my trips to Poughkeepsie, NY). Since they knew so much about it, Iwas comfortable in getting it done here. I was initially happy with my nails. However it's only been a week and a half and two of my nails have already chipped... Mind you, powder dip nails are supposed to last close to a month! Highly saddened/disappointed.. I have one hand that's (for now) fine but my other hand has two broken nails..Talk about awkward. However, this is a really cute spot! I just don't think they're good at their Powder Dip knowledge/technique as of yet... it's quite pricey to get it done here as well. I come in for a regular pedicure and the gel powder manicure. The gel powder mani is EVERYTHING. My nails are typically weak and they break easily. The gel powder mani keeps my nails from breaking, comparable to acrylic tips, however, you don't have to worry about damaging your nails during removal. You can soak off the powder with acetone. Also, you don't have to worry about the color fading or chipping. It looks awesome right up until your next visit. The first photo was taken the day after I got my mani and the second photo was taken about 3 weeks after (you can see some growth between the nail bed and the gel powder; I tell no lies ). I usually do my nails every 3-4 weeks, when I start to see significant growth. Finally, you don't have to wait to dry under the nail dryer. Once the color is sealed, your nails are dry. If you're sold on the gel powder, Dede does an excellent job but if you can't get her, the other nail technicians do a great job as well. read more

Unfortunately, I think Doree might be starting to go downhill. I've been a loyal customer for over a year now and I've noticed a definite decline in their service as of late. I came in for a pedicure around 7 PM tonight and it was done very sloppily. Polish smeared all over my cuticles. Also, the fact that they seem to no longer do the paraffin heel treatment as part of the regular pedicure is very disappointing as that was one of my favorite things about this place. My nail tech was very knowledgeable about the processes they use for tips and gel, it made me feel like they care about their health and the health of their customers. Stopped for a manicure while on vacation. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of dipping powder colors. The staff was more friendly and professional than I've ever experienced at nail salon back home, so that was nice. It's a little pricier than what I'm used to but I was expecting that, it's NYC. anyway, the prices weren't too crazy and seem to be pretty standard for the area. I went to them a couple times giving the benefit of doubt and every time I life my nails chipped the next day. They also use hand soap on your feet which left my feet cracking days after so I started bringing my own soap. The great part is most of your tools are brand new but very cheap . It left my foot peeling and I also started bring my own tools. They have a great ambience that's what keeps there two star on place. But if you call and ask specifically for Serena, you're gonna have the best dip powder you can possibly get. She has a gift from god, I swear. She also fixes mistakes other technicians make.
