Absolutely adore this spot in Surfside! The salads were amazingly fresh and loaded with veggies, cheese and bacon. My friend ordered some tasty fried crabcakes that were honestly the best I've had in a while. Especially with that jalapeno dip. It was a nice dish to share. I ordered the cheesesticks on the side and they were lightly battered and very cheesy. The patio upstairs is perfect to dine outside while enjoying waves and conversation. My vino was also crisp, cold and fairly inexpensive. I was wishing we had stayed for karaoke but there was lots going on and just a fun spot to be at on a Sunday. Very happy we decided on a whim to come here. This will without a doubt be my dining option of choice the next time I come down here for a run or just for some fun! read more

We stopped in for lunch today and were greeted with a big smile welcoming us in. She ended up being our waitress and was so personable and friendly, we were really impressed with her. I found this spot one day just driving around Surfside and decided to head back there yesterday for an enjoyable afternoon on the patio. BOY did we enjoy ourselves!! We walked into a piece of heaven! The cool breeze on the patio was to die for! The music was perfect! Who knew it was Karaoke Sunday?! Wow, what a treat!! Some local lady graced us with her voice as she sang everything from country to Alicia Keys! She was amazing! A few others also graced the stage with their amazing vocals. While listening to the awesome music, we enjoyed some delicious fried fish, shrimp & oysters. They were fried perfectly! And were seasoned just right! We washed it all down with the best Malibu Sunset drinks. What a perfect ending to our Sunday! Can't wait to stop by again! Oh, and the service is impeccable! Love this place. Great location-under the Surfside Bridge. My daughter brought us here mid afternoon to sit on the back deck for drinks and snacks. All was great. The Calamari is absolutely the best I have ever had in Brazoria county. The Shrimp Poppers and the Boudin Balls are both great too. Our second trip here was just me and my husband for lunch. I wanted some Oysters on the half shell. We find out they also have lunch specials. The oysters were fresh and delicious. We sail to Freeport often so need a place within walking distance. We were used to going to the same place until they disappointed us on a couple of visits. We decided to try Dorado's and so glad we did! The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Staff was friendly. Shorter walk from Surfside Marina so late night drink/walks are not dangerous . I have to say I was very disappointed by the food we received last night. The poor girl who served us was trying so hard but it was obvious that she hadn't gotten much if any training and although there were several others working the upstairs at the same time and weren't all that busy it didn't appear there was much interest in helping her out. I ordered the Fish and Shrimp with salad instead of fries the other orders were fish tacos, 2 poor boys and a burger. It took awhile to get the food but it was around 6 on a Saturday night on a holiday so that didn't bother us at all. But when the food came and my plate only had the fish and 3 shrimp which were almost warm but far from hot and the shrimp was so over cooked it was chewy... no Cole slaw, no cocktail sauce, no tarter sauce, no lemon only three small shrimp and a piece of fish. The fish tacos were next to cold as were the poor boys but the fries were nice and hot!! The burger my grandsons said was watery, like too much sauce and no flavor. If this has been our first time there we would not return but we go there all the time and I always get the fish and shrimp and it's always been good and hot. Not last night. I don't blame our waitress because I honestly think she was trying. Management could and should do a better job of making sure she knows what is expected of her. They make one of the best hamburgers on the island and the seafood is always good. My husband ordered the burger, the patty tasted like fake meat, no flavor. Just plenty of condiments on it to add flavor? I ordered the fish tacos. Super salty and had no flavor. We loved this place. Great patio with view of the canal. Bloody Mary was delicious and with a bacon wrapped fried oyster on top it was a highlight.
