DBC has been my favorite brewery since the first day they opened - the beer, service, and atmosphere are all awesome! Pre-COVID I enjoyed both inviting big groups there for my birthday as well as finding a quiet spot with my laptop to work on grad school assignments. Awkward. That's the best possible word I could use to describe this place. First of all, if you're visiting Boston without a car, this location in in the middle of NOWHERE. You will have to walk a ways to get here from either of the closest T stops (JFK/UMass stop is WAY closer than Andrew, but still a long walk). I'd suggest a cab/Uber/etc. to get here if you really want to go and don't have your own wheels. My wife and I came here the end of June, 2018. We were greeted outside by someone checking IDs and giving us wristbands. So far so good, we thought. We wanted to do a tour of the brewery, but there was absolutely no mention of any tours happening or how to get on one if there were. I asked one of the men behind the bar about a tour and he looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. So we sat at the bar and both ordered a "tulip" of the beer that has all the berries in it (don't recall the name of it), and each beer was $7.50. For about 10 ounces of beer. Oh, and we were expected to tip after that. The beer was very good (hence giving a 2-star review instead of 1-star for the service), but not quite $7.50 tasty, and the fact that their website mentions tours but not one person seemed to know what a tour was, we just left after we drank our beers. Highly disappointed in this experience and rest assured we won't be back. read more

I am deeply saddened to write this review from my recent visit to Dorchester Brewery (07/09/20). First, I was raised in Dorchester and lived here for more than 25 years. I was there for the opening in the summer of 2016 for DBco. I was excited to have a Brewery in the neighborhood of which I love and could not wait to revisit. The evening of 07/09/20 was very hot, muggy and humid. My gf and I walk in and the host begins to advise us the rules and regulations for COVID-19 precautions. He then seats us at bench #210. Easily 6 feet away from the next bench or high table. I have never felt so racially stereotyped and picked on in any establishment in Dorchester my whole life. We all understand the vast rules and regulations with COVID-19. This had nothing to do with that. It all begin when I was a little confused on how to pay. I walk to the bar, which at this point all of Mass is aware cannot sit, but all I went there for was a simple question, "How to pay, each round or open tab"? All I recieve back is rudeness with a negative tone. The bartender first looks at me, pauses then yells to step back rudely. He answers quickly and states, no tab pay for each round. I do not pay too much attention to it, maybe he is having a bad day. We proceed to look over the menu and and decide which beers to order. Order is being delivered from the same rude bartender. He proceeds to say something I am unable to hear, but my gf does: "Are you sure you want these kind of beers, they dont look like your type of beer"? WHATTTT?? We understood the underlying tone and delivery of his statement.This affected us immediately and wanted to leave. No comment back, I say calmly to my gf, lets just leave after we finish our beers. As we are drinking our beers, we wanted to stand, the day was very humid and hot. First time the host came to the bench to advise to put our masks on which were on but down due to drinking our beers. This was the initial complaint to us. We simply stated, "we have to put our masks down to sip our beers." From our initial conversation with the host, nothing was mentioned if you stand you have to wear your mask. Ok cool he might have forgotten to mention it, no biggie. At this point we are still standing with our masks on, sipping beer and lifting masks back up when done sipping. Here comes the rude bartender demanding we sit or keep our masks on. No need for the hostility and rudeness. Now I hear this and get annoyed. This is now his second rude remark and now demanding us to sit or leave. We did not do anything incorrect, we followed all rules and regulations. But wait there's more. Immediately after that incident the host comes back up and states, "Now I am telling you to sit and keep your masks on!! The host gets my gf very uncomfortable and almost in tears because we understand what was going on. Many people reading this may believe this is not a big deal but the underlying tone and demands to put ur masks on and to sit was more than rules and regulations. Also keep in mind we were seated at table #210, in the corner where there was no one person(s) 6 feet close to us. The biggest takeaway is that when you stand up while seated at the bench, you are the same height as someone sitting on the high chairs. We were so pissed but wanted a couple more beers so we decided to go to Harp&Bard (FYI: Great service, great food, great convos). Which got us out our funk and continued with our evening. This place has a lot going for it. It's in a great location and there is plenty of space to hang out. Their own beers are excellent, and you can also usually try the beers of 4-5 other brewers who brew there under contract. They have a food truck there most days, but we just stuck with chips and guac, which was very tasty. Can't wait to visit again. read more

We were visiting Boston and our daughter gave my husband a gift card so we stopped after a day in Boston. It is a bit of a walk from the T but looks like parking may be ok near it with street parking . It was a beautiful day, so all the outdoor seating was taken. For us it was a bit confusing on how to get a tasting and no one offered any info. We muddled our way through and luckily found a spot to sit inside. So if you are doing tastings, you purchase tokens and choose what you want as you want it at the counter. It's very noisy here so conversation is hard. But it's a great casual place to hang out , grab a beer(s), play a game ( there's a cupboard of game boards) and I believe you can bring your own food. I had a lemon IPA that I really liked. I am neither a beer drinker and in particular I don't like IPA's but this one was really good and I had it twice. Fun place to hang out. Was heading out of Boston in a few hours and was looking for quick local brewery to try. The place opened before noon, had really good beer, and had a bar for me to drink at. Had the Runecast and partnered beer Gnam Gnam. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

Really wanted to love this place, but the beer just wasn't my favorite. It was pretty busy, and they were overly diligent about taking sample glasses. Went there at 4 pm on a Saturday. There was a line of about 30 people. We got in within 10 minutes. The building is cool with an outdoor seating and corn hole. The inside was packed and incredibly loud. They need to add some sound dampening inside. Overall a very cool spot. The only problem is it is in the middle of no where. I plan on going back this summer to enjoy the patio! read more

We like to visit breweries on our travels and since our daughter just moved in to Dorchester we made a beeline to Dorchester brewing! My husband is an avid homebrewer and is always happy to find a brewery with a nice selection of porters and stouts, his favorites. There were really great beers here, from the summer stout to the double ipa. Comfortable and spacious interior. The co-owner offered me alto grab me a sample and took time to chat about the Harpoon-veteran brew master and all the new beers he has coming up. I can't wait to try more. read more

I'm pumped to have this in the area. This stretch of Mass Ave needs something to lighten it up, so why not a brewery? The beer is above average, nothing spectacular but worth trying. The Mass Ave IPA was more on the side of a Session IPA by taste, but probably not due to ABV. But I liked the beers I tried. The contract brewing they'll be doing will be worth checking out for sure. The space is warm and comfortable inside. A good place to try new things. Great little hole in the wall brew pub, with nothing else but preztels (and soft drinks for the kids). Sure, it's a bit too self-consciously hip, but that's part of the allure...the beer is great, which it better be. The pretzels are just bagged hard pretzels, good enough to nibble on but not the main event.
