    A bland margarita

Service was friendly but extremely slow. Lime margarita lacked lime or tequila taste. Steak was a bit less tender than beef jerky. My wife's shrimp seemed to satisfy. Never going back. Prefer Taco Bell over this place. Save your time and money.

Bean dip and green onion salsa

Outstanding value and flavors. This place is located UNDER Nampa Downtown Inn very close to the center of town. One can easily drive past it unless you are looking for the motel sign. One block from the police station and fire station #1. Plenty of street and lot parking. It is not just a slogan that they are making meals from recipes from their Abuelas (grandmothers). This is real family food passed down over generations. Every employee gives the customer the impression that they are proud to be at your service to enjoy their cooking. They have been building their faithful clientele for 5 years since opening. Stopped in for the Taco Tuesday special of 4 tacos and a margarita for $8.95. We also were there during their 4-6 Happy Hour where when you order one margarita you get the second one for $1. We weren't looking for a big heavy meal, so a taco salad in a shell and the Taco Tuesday special looked good for us. Just because the majority of the population of the Treasure Valley can hardly get past raving or complaining about a restaurant's chips and salsa, we offer this insight - order the bean dip along with the standard salsa. The chips are light without an oily taste. The salsa is fresh and uses green onions - very yummy. The salad was large and full of flavor. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, not like some places that hide their old dying lettuce in a pile inside the shell. The 4 street tacos were excellent. Two soft, fresh tortillas each, plenty of meat and dressed nicely with traditional toppings. With the choice of two fillings, carnitas and carne asada were picked. The carnitas were fabulous and I don't say that too often in Idaho, but the carne asada was equal in flavor and quality. Hard to choose between these fillings on our next visit. As a bonus we tried a Momia (mummy) taco. The tortilla was slightly pan fried no doubt to give it extra taste and strength. The melted cheese and the filling of carnitas made this taco very special. See pic. At this point of the meal, we knew we had found the abuelas kitchen that we have been looking for. We all know the average "Mexican" place which caters to "gringos" (something wrapped in a tortilla floating in soupy sauces and covered with gobs of yellow cheese). You're not going to find that garbage here. Traditional favorites are on the menu, but prepared with a focus on authenticity and flavors. We were excited to read about Dos Caminos items that are not found on the typical Treasure Valley "Mexican" restaurant menu. Fogones is something you will not find on a typical menu. While it may look similar to parrillada (grilled meats & vegetables) served in a molcajete (volcanic stone bowl) it is quite different. It is a very traditional rustic method of cooking which uses cast iron pots and lids cooked over outdoor fires or inside mud ovens. Various meats and other items are put in the pot and then the whole thing goes into the oven. We highly recommend that you give Dos Caminos a try and don't be shocked when you call it your new favorite. The abuelas will smile on you.

Chicken enchilada and taco lunch plate. And yes, I already stirred the rice and beans.

Went to this place this past Friday. Nicely decorated and quaint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Looks like a family run business. The lunch menu has quite a few choices on it and most are $9.95. I got the chicken enchilada and taco plate. The consistency of the beans was great, nice and creamy. The rice had great flavor and was cooked just right. Unfortunately, I didn't think much of the chicken. It seemed like the breast meat was boiled then shredded in big pieces. It really had no flavor and was on the dry side. If you look at the pic, there is a piece on the right side of the taco. The toppings and sauce were good. They also have a red hot sauce that is tasty. I will probably go back but will pick a different meat.

Was told about this place by our neighbor, extremely happy we gave it a shot. Staff was super friendly, food was fantastic. Highly recommend the Mamba and the Fajita burrito. It took me awhile to choose which burrito I wanted to try, but I'll be back to try all of them after tasting how good everything was.

Don't let the size or appearance fool you! We went because we had friends tell us that it is under new management since I visited it over 6 yrs ago. The service was great and waitress very friendly. The place looked remodeled and cleaned up. The food was so yummy!!! I would definitely go back for dinner next time.

Employees were friendly, service was fast, and the food was great. There was a nice bar area in the back that was busy.
