DoorDashed this restaurant to test out a new taqueria... and it was our first and last time. Let's start with the nachos we ordered. I can't review them bc they didn't make them. Completely forgot to add them. Thankfully DoorDash will refund $, but that refills my wallet, but leaves our stomaches empty. That kind of lack of attention to detail is disappointing (shame on the DoorDash delivery guy for not checking the order too, not sure what I tipped you for...). Let's talk what we did get delivered. The regular tostada was sub par: soggy and inedible. Couldn't even eat the full thing, and we were hungry missing our nachos- so we used the toppings to make our own "nachos" with the complimentary chips. Chips were ok and the Ceviche was good. Taco salad wasn't as big as we hoped, but at least it was crunchy - but a salad shouldn't be your star dish in an order this large. There's so many similar restaurants in the area, so I'd suggest avoiding this until they reignite their passion for service and cooking. read more

This is a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, at my sons request we went in to give it a try. One of the first things I noticed was a couple Mexican eaters dining, that will sometimes be a measure of a good Mexican restaurant. This is an order at the counter type of place, usually what I like to do is order several tacos to try different meats, today it was carne asada, pollo (chicken) and carnitas (pork)... the meats were well flavored, the carne asada and pollo came out diced---not my favorite way...but again the flavor was on point, the carnitas taco was my favorite, the meat was flavorful and in strips (pulled pork like). Drinks were out of a soda fridge. We also got beans and rice as appetizer, that also was very good. My son (teenager) got a carne asada burrito with his must have Xtra crema... he very much enjoyed it. Ambiance is typical of a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant with the obligatory soccer playing on the Tv in the corner. Would definitely go back. read more

Like Roger, I thought this was the little taqueria inside the supermarket but it's not. It's in a small strip between apartments and Marlow shopping center. Place was very full at 1:45 on a Saturday but our food arrived very quickly. Salsa bar had several varieties and a very good pico de gallo. Service was smiling and friendly! Ordered a sampling of their many meat options ...and for the record, this seems to be the place for lots of authentic Mexican meat options. I went the gringo way... Tacos - one each of chicken, pork carnitas and carne asada. Enchiladas - one cheese, one al pastor. Tostada - asada So. Meh. Wasn't terrible but wasn't very good. The beef on all items was quite tough and had a lot of chew to it. I deposited several bites of fat bits ...just not very appetizing. The tostada was huge and the portions for everything else were pretty large. The carnitas was ok but since it was covered in sour cream and salsa, the flavor was lost. It didn't stand out one way or another. Cheese enchilada - hmmm the sauce was oddly sweet and unfortunately didn't set a gold tone. Best thing was pollo asado taco. Anyhow. Yum yum yum! This place is packed with flavor and portion sizes are no joke. Everything is a bit on the spicy side, so keep that in mind if you're not a fan of some kick. It's everything you'd expect from a taqueria with complimentary chips and salsa, that's what I love about this place. Their horchata is pretty good, but I like others in the area better. Their tacos are two thumbs up, and I've never been disappointed. Burritos are delicious and their ceviche is made exactly how I love it. The service is friendly and fast, and the prices are cheaper. Would eat here again if I was starving and this was the only place open. Got a torta and a burrito (ordered DoorDash) The torta had meat all over the box and the thing was falling apart. If it were wrapped in foil, it would hold all the meat in and the sandwich together. Nothing to write home about. The burrito came wet which it didn't mention. If I wanted a bunch of bland tomato sauce, I'd order enchiladas. Gotta mention that because a lot of people don't dig the sloppy mess style. Also made special requests for extra salsas and for their spiciest salsa. They gave me one of each. For two items. Being chintzy with the salsa just makes me feel like people are penny pinching and really need to save that extra 25 cents. Used Doordash. Ordered nachos, a shrimp taco, and a carne asada taco. The nachos and nachos were okay, but the carne asada was not the best. The shrimp taco tasted like it was old and it had a nasty aftertaste. I was worried about getting sick but I will never order there again since I think they were serving old shrimp. read more

You will not be disappointed. Their super burritos are large enough to share. ..but tasty enough you won't want to. My first and last time at this place. Ordered two super burritos to go from their menu at $8.99 each. When i received the bill it came up to $22.88. I asked why, if the menu says $8.99 each which should be around $19.51 with tax included. The cashier pointed to a hand written sign that read "Prices may vary". I thought that was illegal to switch prices on the consumers. I paid it because I was ravenous. Another person came after me and left after they tried to switch prices on him as well. Food was just terrible, a couple of small chunks of carnitas at each end of the burrito, mostly a mass of a weird looking orange rice with mostly unflavored beans. Here's what their menu said: Super Shrimp Burrito Shrimp, rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. $9.99 What I got was stuffed full of large and small pieces of red and green bell pepper as well as a lot of onion. I don't mind onion when used in moderation but I HATE bell peppers and nothing on their menu mentioned it (edit: had) them. After my second bite I unwrapped it and tried picking through it with a fork. Very little cheese, guac or sour cream. Lots of 3 ingredients NOT listed on their menu. Decided to try this place and called in an order for a chicken super burrito, I had high hopes for it as most chicken super burritos are wonderful no matter where you buy from. However, upon unwrapping the foil there was lots of grease dripping out of both ends. The meat and beans were completely bland. No flavor whatsoever. The only flavor that came from the burrito was a slight hint of lime. I was so disappointed and the burrito went straight into the trash after a few bites. Ugh, I'll stick to Ochoa's or Los Archos. My family came here for dinner and I ordered a chimichanga. I was craving one bad!! got it and the red mole sauce clearly came from a can and the tortilla was not even deep fried. With all the great Mexican places to eat around Santa Rosa, you can not go wrong here. Located in a small strip mall off of Piner Rd, it's truly a hidden gem. The place is always clean and I've had nothing but good service. They have a salsa bar that does not disappoint. The green salsa so far is my favorite. I did not know this place even existed. It is really a hole in the wall-type restaurant. If my friends did not tell me, I would have never gone. It is surprisingly close to where I live, bonus! I tried the al pastor in a super burrito, as a suggestion from Angela, who has also reviewed this restaurant. I love it. Although it was a "super", I didn't find much sour cream, but there was a good amount of guacamole. The al pastor (pork) had so much flavor. It is probably my second favorite meat. When you walk up to the register, you can see the pork roasting on a spit (vertically, a-la kebob style) with a large section of pineapple draped over the top, dripping juice/glaze. This Mexican restaurant has come to the top of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I'll have to come back and order a carne asada super burrito. There is a giant variety of different salsas, all made in the restaurant, all very good. I like the green one for chips and the red one for the burrito itself. Free chips and salsa, by the way, bonus points for that. Although the chips are not made in the store, and obviously purchased elsewhere, they do give you a pretty good amount of them, so you can even eat half the burrito and still be plenty full. The price of the al pastor burrito, at the time of this review, was $7, out the door, tax included. A very very reasonable price. The interior of the restaurant is very bare, with the salsa bar in the corner, and the counter/window where the food comes from the kitchen right next to it. The kitchen is open, by the way, so you can see it from where you are sitting. One thing that baffled me was that the menu board above the counter had no prices. It listed the menu items available to purchase, along with a list of different meats, but no prices. I've been to this taqueria more then a few times given I live so close. The first time I went around 9 months ago,it was one of the best burritos I've had in a while. Each time since however has been worse and worse. They are messy, don't keep a clean cooking area. When you see unidentifiable meat just sitting in a tub of boiling grease it makes you wonder how good the quality of the meat will be. And if you won't be sick the next day. The al pastor is probably the safest bet. I've had the chicken which was edible but not great. The carne asada was horrible,gristle in every bite and completely soaked in grease. The carnitas was just awful. Dried out and stringy. Inedible. I once asked the cook if he could add tomatoes and lettuce to my burrito and he looked at me like I lost my mind lol. We've started getting take-out from Taqueria Mendoza during The COVID Years and have yet to be disappointed. The burritos as massive and well assembled; they come with an eye-watering range of salsas (including one that literally will make your eyes water). The taco salad (OK, I'm a gringa) is wonderful and loaded. The sopes and tacos are lovely. And the service is efficient, cheerful, and bilingual (see note above about "gringa"). If you want a candlelight-and-linen-nappery place, go to one of the Starks' places. If you want really good Mexican food for a fair price, to to Taqueria Mendoza. read more

I like this place and they have really good food but.... I call them to order a burrito and they tell me it's gonna take 30 minutes for it to be ready and that they don't sell burritos till noon on the weekends even though they open at 10am. I show up on a tuesday to buy enchiladas and the girl informs me they have run out, I tell the girl the only reason why we came was to have enchiladas and she tells me they haven't really run out and that the cooks just don't want to make them anymore, so we order taquitos but have to wait over 20 minutes for them to be ready. The food is excellent but they need a a change in management, hire more staff, they could be making more business but they need to be more efficient read more

The last two times we went there I was seriously disappointed. The tall man who used to be the cook there (and may still be SOME of the time) always provided us with generous servings of GREAT tasting Mexican food. He makes incredibly good enchiladas, great sopes and good tacos. But when he isn't there the serving size is definitely smaller (he always gave me three enchiladas while the shorter cook only served me two) and the food is much blander in flavor. And the next to the last time I ate there my enchiladas were cold. The dining room is tiny and can be frigid to sit in on a cold day but we were willing to overlook that AND the lousy parking (and it IS lousy parking) because the food was so darned good AND affordable. But once we started getting cold, bland food and smaller servings than we had always gotten before we decided we were finished going there. It may still be affordable, but I've not been there in over a year, now. read more

My biggest complaint with this place is the hidden and shady price increases. The Super Quesadilla (with choice of meat) is listed at $8.49 on their board. Upon hearing my total, I asked for my receipt and confirmed that I was charged $9.98 for the quesadilla and another $1.49 for the meat. I asked the server about the price and she stated that unfortunately, the board wasn't updated with the new $9.98 price. I then asked her why I was being charged for $1.49 for meat. I was told that there is an increase price for meat during COVID. I asked her if the $9.98 price includes meat, since it's a super quesadilla. She confirmed that it did, but upon pointing out the meat charge and asking why I was being charged that, she reiterated her previous comment. Never returning to this place! read more
