I think 3 1/2 stars is my preferred score for them but rounded down instead of rounding up due to flavor issues. Nice interior with high ceilings. I stopped by for a late lunch on "taco Tuesday" and the place was pretty empty. Nice server greeted me and took my order. I am fluent in Spanish and love spicy food. I like to order HORCHATA to drink and I think it accurately tells me if the restaurant is good or not. This drink that is a milky looking blend of rice, cinnamon, and other spices is tricky to get right, but amazing when they do it right. This place made it with an ODD FLAVOR that wasn't rice or cinnamon and I couldn't pin down exactly what they did to mess it up but it wasn't good! At this point I could have paid for the drink and left since they FAILED the horchata test but I went ahead and ordered lunch. Ordered the "tacos al carbón" and it looked good but was really BLAND. I looked I ended up pouring salsa over it from the salsa that came with the free chips to flavor it up a little. After I finished my meal I was looking at the menu again and realized they did not put the promised pico de gallo on it! Maybe that would have helped but this place lacks a good spicy salsa option (habanero sauce anyone????). Having lived just minutes away, we really wanted to like this spot, but after two visits, we will not be back. Our first visit was mediocre--the food was acceptable, though definitely overpriced for what was offered. Hoping for a better outcome, we returned with out-of-town family right as they opened. Despite only two other tables being occupied, the food took an unreasonably long time to arrive. When our orders finally came, my wife's meal contained the wrong meat. When we pointed it out, the server simply shrugged, mumbled something, and walked off, leaving the incorrect dish at the table. Confused about whether a replacement was coming, she started eating around the mistake. My sister-in-law and I were practically finished by the time the server returned with the correct order, only for him to try to blame my wife for the error. We had the replacement boxed up, paid our bill, and left. There was no offer to remove the incorrect meal from the check and no genuine apology given. Dropping over $80 for sub-par service and an incorrect order was immensely disappointing, and we won't be returning. read more

First time at Dos Gordos 2pm. Monday . My husband and I walked in . Only 2 people were there .. dirty tables inside and out . Good hot sauce.. my husband had a chili relleno and an enchilada he said was pretty good. I had taquitos shredded beef meat was dry and chewy, my beans were cold but the refried beans were good . I have never gotten food that fast . Probably won't go back . Only give it it a 3 star because my husband said his was pretty good. read more

Wonderful casual dining with great service and delicious food. The host was proud of his food and rightfully so. I had the Chile Verde and the sauce had great flavor, unlike many other bland versions I have eaten elsewhere. My wife had the the Flautas appetizer and loved the shredded beef version. Atmosphere: what you would expect from a Mexican place, but with a little more hip and a lot more fun (I think that's thanks to the staff ). Food: the food is pretty good! When getting to the restaurant the host seated the family that came in after us and when I mention "oh we have 3" to let him know we weren't with that party he just says "oh sir over there" and points to a dirty table. I had to wipe it down and thank goodness I bring sanitation wipes. Our server was nice so that was great. I did ask for gluten free options and they stated they would but I noticed the fish had batter. I asked the man coming and asking if people how their meal was if he could ask the cook if the fish was gluten free. He left and never came back then when I waved him down he said "oh sorry I forgot". Then said he asked the cook and they didn't know if it was gluten free since their fish is pre packaged so probably not. People with gluten intolerance or celiac should probably avoid this place. Their menu says they will accommodate but it seems like they don't even know what gluten free is. 1 stars because you had a kind server 1 star because the food was just ok. Not authentic. But, the main problem is the attitude... which we find common with Mexican food eateries... if you don't buy alcohol drinks, they are no longer happy to see you.
