I really wanted to like El Fagón Mexican Grill because my mom and brother hyped it up so much, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. My family and I ordered carne burritos, and they were extremely dry honestly dry all the way through the middle. There was no sour cream, no guacamole, and nothing to balance the flavor. Before ordering, I even asked if they had pico de gallo, and the employee told me no, but said the guacamole had pico in it. When we got home, there was no guac at all in the burritos, which made them even drier. To clarify, I called the next morning to ask what normally comes inside a carne burrito. The employee I spoke with seemed unsure at first and asked which one I meant, listing different options but when I ordered in person, no one asked me to choose. I was just handed a burrito with rice and beans, and that was it. What disappointed me the most was the lack of customer service. After explaining the issue, there was no offer to remake the food, no refund, not even a partial credit just a "that's weird." Overall, it did not live up to the hype at all. We ordered ahead for pick up and it's a good thing we did because they were packed. Its not a huge place, but all of the tables were full and there was a line halfway to the door. Even though they were busy, our food was ready when we arrived, so that was a great start. The place was clean but SO bright with all of the neon lights. Something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to that. We ordered the chicken taquitos and the Fogon burrito. The taquitos were good. The burrito was a bit disappointing. I was looking forward to tasting their chipotle sauce on it but I didn't taste any. It also had too much beans & rice in proportion to the rest of the ingredients. So I came here because I seen them on tiktok and IG for their monster burrito. Good marketing... but I didn't wanna spend the money for it if the meat isn't worth it, SO I decided to try their wet burrito with red and green salsa. I went with asada AND alpastor, cool deal.... welp... not a cool deal. Burrito came out pretty fast which is great.. but that's all that was great. The inside is pretty small for how busy they can get, I had to move around a lot to let people pass as I was in line. The service was excellent, everyone was nice and the food came out quicker than I expected considering how busy it was. We drove out to Riverside just because of the reviews. Simple place BUT it is beyond fantastic and the food is incredible. The service is superb and welcoming. Ambiance is casual and very clean. Conveniently located close to the UCR campus, El Fogon is great place to go for well prepared fresh food and large portions. They have a great selection of burgers, tacos, burritos and sandwiches. Helpful and very friendly staff. Mark brought our order with a smile and asked if there was anything he could bring us. He checked up on us during our meal. If you only have a 30-minute lunch, I recommend calling ahead to place your order, otherwise you might spend most of your time waiting. The burritos are huge, which is definitely a plus. Also, the beans are made with oil instead of lard, in case that matters to you. That said, I personally didn't love my burrito. It's located in a plaza with both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the super fries ($14.50) with al pastor and the supreme burrito ($12.50) with carne asada. The fries tasted a little stale to us like it had been sitting there for a while. It was corroborated by the slightly hardened cheese. The al pastor meat was also just okay and a little bland. For the burrito, there was some meat but a lot more rice and some bites were only rice which wasn't pleasant. For both of the dishes we got without beans which was a good idea because it would've been more filler. They have a lot of options on their menu and we didn't know what the differences were. It would've been very helpful if they listed the ingredients in each so we knew what was in each (for example: house burrito vs supreme burrito vs fogon burrito vs brc burrito vs emily burrito vs loco burrito vs monster burrito). The portions are big but the flavors were unfortunately lacking. The tables were also unclean and took a while to be cleaned. read more

The POS system doesn't ask you for a tip which is a nice touch. Everyone else's order came fine and had minor issues, but the Monster Burrito was disappointing. When I got the burrito out of the bag after 8 minutes of driving home it was extremely cold. From the tortilla to the meats and un-melted cheese in the burrito. 80% sour cream 20% guacamole which was super disappointing.
