Hands down the best food truck that I've had. The food and service are incredible, it has been that way since day one. I'm happy to see how well they've done throughout the years. Every person that I've introduced to this truck has loved it! The staff is so kind, always greets you with a smile and are accommodating. Don Mexicanos grill food truck was parked outside of the boulevard bar and goat hill tavern. And I really just wanted tacked because well.. taco Tuesday was in full effect as well. I ordered five carne asada tacos, three lengua tacos, one pollo taco, and one bacon wrapped hot dog. When they asked if I wanted everything on it, you kind of expect the traditional toppings of cilantro and onions and possibly the salsa dressing on top. Instead it was onions and a ton of cabbage, and the tortillas the tacos were in were not toasted as well. The hot dog was cold and sweet. The onions were not grilled and the bun was not toasted as most places would have it. They also ran out of limes for the tacos. Service was good and they were fast and efficient. The food just didn't sell me. Maybe I'm just used to the authentic Mexican food that this wasn't what I was expecting. Such a great find for some late night food. I came across this truck while out in Costa Mesa. They park in the back of The Boulevard on Saturday nights and move out front after closing. They have a sizable menu including tortas and sopes. I've had a chance to try their al pastor and carnitas tacos, a torta and their California burrito. The meat was flavorful in all of them, the al pastor especially. The tacos are a good portion size and come with onions and cilantro. I've tried the red and green sauce and they both come with a kick. I can handle spices pretty well and I'd consider these pretty spicy. You might want to get them on the side other wise. The torta was delicious. Soft bun, well seasoned beans and the lettuce and tomatoes and a bit of freshness. The California burrito is huge and comes with ground beef, crispy crinkle cut fries and lettuce and tomatoes to help cut the heaviness of it all. Be aware they don't have the prices on the menu, it is understandable these people work hard but it's is really expensive and the quality not even there, mostly chewy meat (pastor and azada), tortillas all breaking and not even a good portion of anything. A torta $10!!! I've never paid $10 not even in late-night restaurants. So I paid $20 for one torta and two tacos (tip included). I do not recommend this taco truck even if it's convenient right where Time club, boulevard, and all the bars on Newport Blvd are.
