So, I haven't posted in awhile, but I felt this place was a good place to start back up. Let's start with the food... if you want a burrito in Castle Rock, here is the place to get one. Downside, you and I are not the only ones who know that so there might be a wait if you're doing the walk up burritos. Inside, it got a nice ambience, chatter in the background but not too loud. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, so if you didn't come in hungry, you will be. Drinks are good and refreshing. If you're looking for a nice summer refresher, go with the basil limeade. Marg.... spicy passion fruit will not steer you wrong. Now, the service... the kitchen was backed with burrito orders and there was only one server on the floor. Taylor was amazing. She made sure we were aware of everything and that we were properly taken care of. She was always at our table, on queue, for drink refills or check ins. Her bright demeanor was a treat and she took the time regardless of how busy the room got. She handled everything perfectly. Food is delicious and they offer a good drink menu. However we were attacked by flies while sitting inside. Just looking around there were dozens everywhere. Which did ruin our experience a bit. But our server was great and the Tuna Tostada is our favorite! read more

Great food but comes at a cost. Small portions are incredibly expensive and unlike almost all other mexican restaurants, you do NOT get complimentary chips or salsa on the table you have to pay $6. Came here to satisfy a hangry desire for Mexican food. Dos Santos delivered, with a twist. Nice to have really good, fresh food with some creative menu choices. I ordered the crimini boomer taco and the grilled cheese that is on it is amazing. My husband got the chicken tinga as a bowl and the portion was huge and everything was awesome. The tacos are excellent but their process needs some work. I've done pick up orders on two occasions, and each time the suggested wait was about 15-25 minutes. Each time I have gone to pick them up after that time has passed with no notification from the restaurant that my order is ready, my order has been sitting at the bar and is cold by the time I get it. The hostess then seems to mark your order as "ready" once you've left the restaurant with your food. If this happened once I would forget about it, but the consistency of the issue shows they need some improvement in this area. read more

I honestly don't understand why this place has good reviews. The food was ok but the value is one of the worst in Castle Rock. Three people for lunch with only one alcoholic beverage and over $75. my friends and i went here because we've heard great things but ended up having an awful experience. we ordered a couple tacos to go and one the the tacos was completely empty so we called the restaurant to ask for a new taco and they accused us of having too many drinks and eating the taco on the way home??? "one of your homies probably ate it on the way home" all we wanted was a replacement taco i don't think that's too much to ask for. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! read more

Easily the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to! High end tacos for sure! My only complaint is that the service can be hit or miss. Usually the service is good, but when they get really busy, the staff seems to get overwhelmed. I think more training could resolve the issues though. This was a very disappointing experience. We'd heard it wasn't great, but thought we'd try for ourselves. The seats are very uncomfortable. The food was very overpriced and not great. We ordered the "salsa flight" appetizer (chips and salsa are not free) and none of the 4 salsas were very good. You order each little street taco individually and they sound good, but we're pretty plain and the pork lechon was fatty. The drinks are expensive, if you want a top shelf margarita, it's $21. I ordered 2 tacos that were expensive and only got one and an empty taco with only tortillas nothing else. When I called back I was told "one of your homies must have eaten it" I've been working in the restaurant business for a long time now and if I EVER said that I would be fired on spot. I guess I am philosophically opposed to fancy tacos. Usually they suck. For example, if you love Torchy's or that place in the tech center, then you and I have very different ideas on tacos. A good $2-3 taco at a real Mexican place is way better than a $6 taco at a hip, trendy place where beautiful people hang out and sip Paloma's or whatever. Big news though. Dos Santos does not suck. It's good. Pork is good. Tuna poke is good. Not exactly what I look for in my Mexican food experience but if you dig this shit, this is probably the best fancy taco place around. First time customer. -It's been a busy and truly heavy week and a half, let alone day. I haven't eaten at all, today, so around 6:00 p.m. I type in, "burritos" into my GPS (maps), look through & choose the first, best rated restaurant & call for a small, but pricey, takeout. The guy who answered the phone was extremely pleasant, a tone I really needed to hear, at the time...he helped me pick from his favorites & I placed my order. I'm on the umpteenth call of the day, trying to find a parking spot in, I'm guessing, downtown Castle Rock (?). Which, being new here, was a little extra to handle while on such a heavy call. We hang up, I walk in, pay for my order, tip around 25%, look down into my relatively light to-go bag and notice that there aren't any tiny buckets of condiments. So, I ask the young host if there's any way I could get some sour cream and salsa...about 10 minutes of watching this young man go back and forth, between kitchen staff and a particular waitress, the waitress comes by, says, "You've already paid, haven't you?" I say yes and another few minutes later, she comes back with a tiny plastic to go of salsa and sour cream. But, as she's handing them to me, she says, "Next time, ask for these before you pay so that he (the host?) doesn't get in trouble.". -I've read other reviews in the 30 min since I've left the establishment and it's mentioned that, apparently, you need to pay for every small thing, there. Which...that's uh...ridiculous, IMO, with the prices vs the quantity and quality of the food but, maybe it's hard times for these owners. What was truly upsetting, though, was the thought that any one of these staff would fear getting into TROUBLÉ for giving a patron about 5 cents worth of condiments, that are typically given with every meal at similar restaurants around the entire US. "Trouble". That's a weighty word & it holds certain power over people, which it's meant to. And these are young people working here...I don't think anyone should fear such a ridiculous thing and it makes me wonder, if that's such an issue, that a waitress tells a first time customer, who's just paid above fair prices & tipped quite well, not -"Have a great night" but, "ask for condiments before you pay because we're going to get reprimanded"...what's up, owners? What's up, management? Should you have gone into this business if you have to, not only up-charge through the roof, something that cost you pennies & no one else charges for but, ALSO have your staff fearful if those few pennies walked out the door, by no fault to anyone?? This took 15 min for them to decide what the hell to do...please reevaluate. read more

Not quite sure what to say. I've been twice hoping the experience would get better. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY RESTAURANT. And for Castle Rock, that might be a big fail. Castle Rock is all about family and community, so what gives? On a positive note, the music is great and the energy high. But it is VERY LOUD and you can't have a conversation to save your life. Sometimes that is exactly what you want. I can see this being a happening hot spot to grab a taco and a beer on the patio during the Summer, if it lasts that long. A woman was forced to sit outside a couple of weeks ago in about 5 degree weather on a warmed patio with a baby because the staff wouldn't seat her. Then someone called the cops because they were concerned. So, the staff sent the poor people free drinks (OUTSIDE) to cover up the embarrassment but still didn't invite her in. Not a great look for a new restaurant attempting to make its mark and push its brand. The space is small, so they can't accommodate the all crowds wanting to come try them out. And if you want to wait in the bar and get a drink while your table is ready, they flat out tell you no. There is just no room anywhere to congregate or even order a drink from the bar if you want to stand. So they send you away with a promise to page you. But you must be there within 5 minutes to get your table. Where are you supposed to go and wait and return within 5 minutes in Castle Rock within walking distance? It's impossible. Customers leave and simply go somewhere else. It is a strange experience haven eaten in various Castle Rock establishments to be in a restaurant that doesn't operate like a normal restaurant with empathy and logic. Normal procedures don't seem to apply to them. Tonight, however, I did see a family with a baby at their table taking up a seat. So perhaps they grew a soul over the last week. As far as the drinks go, they were tasty, yet pricey. I enjoyed nibbling on the dehydrated lime slice in my margarita, which was a nice touch. Last night we arrived at 5:30 and were not offered a happy hour menu. The new customers seated next to us commented on the basic glasses, which I didn't mind. We've traveled to Mexico a lot so found the decor charming. The food was advertised to be the highlight of the place, so we had been looking forward to it. Overall, it is a twist on upscale Mexican street fare. Quite honestly, nothing stood out as amazing. It was just ok. Plating was interesting and portions fine. Some of the taco choices were exceptionally salty. They were out of the steak tacos at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Not sure why. There is a lead hostess at the front who is abrupt and unwelcoming, laying down the law like a guard. Our last waitress was very kind and helpful and gave suggestions to try different plates. We liked her a lot. The flan was delicious and creamy, more like a creme brûlée without the sugary crust. I wanted so badly to love this place. It isn't a lost cause. It is new and some changes need to take place. But they definitely need to lose the attitude. read more

Excellent service and food! Mariah was training Sam and both were very patient with us. We needed time and they checked in but didn't push us. This place is chic atmosphere and not Mexican fee at all. Portions are twice as small as you think they are from pics, chips and salsa are not complimentary and are so so. It's a small joint so every time the door opened it let a freezing cold breeze in. Tacos are $5 each and are literally so small you will be shocked. They were ok tasting.
