I'm really disappointed to be giving this 1 star review to a restaurant I really used to enjoy. After today's experience, will not be back. Sat at the bar for 30 minutes and not one was asked what I would like to drink or eat. It was not that busy. There were two bartenders. One lady who walked back and forth, not bussing dishes or serving anyone. Just walking back and forth. And a guy who was picking up some dishes and speaking to a few folks. At this price point, staff should great and serve and provide an exceptional experience. Unfortunately mine was a waste of 30 minutes and off to find a restaurant with a staff that cares about their clientele. This was mentioned to management as we left. ------ I would like to add a few more comments to address the response below. 1. We came in for a meal, not a margarita. Thanks for the assumptions. 2. We were not created in time, take another look at your cameras. 3. When she delivered chips and salsa about 15 minutes after sitting there. Definitely a solid Mexican food spot that I've frequented many times as a Castle Rock resident. They offer friendly service, great green chile and unique menu items--like the mini chile rellenos--which are genuinely tasty and well done every time. The biggest downside for me is the pricing. Everything on the menu feels noticeably overpriced, especially considering there are several nearby Mexican food options within walking distance that offer better flavor and larger portions for less. While the restaurant is upscale and visually impressive, the customer shouldn't feel like they're subsidizing the cost of expensive real estate during their visit. read more

We had a great time and were seated relatively quickly, especially for Saturday at dinner time. Food was delicious as well as the drinks. Loved Savina's! Every time I've been it's spot on, I do recommend making a reservation especially on a Friday or Saturday night. We were lucky to find a spot at the bar. We got a pitcher of margs-definitely more than 4 drinks and worth the money if you have multiple people drinking. The tacos are my go to, the steak is my favorite by far. The guac is a waste of money, it's super basic and nothing great in terms of flavor, also certainly not worth $16. The atmosphere is amazing, get here for sunset. read more

Wanted some good mexican food. Seems like everything near us is so mediocre. Stumbled on Savina's through a Facebook post. It was very busy at 12:00 on Sunday so instead of waiting for a table we sat at the bar. Charlie and Josh were the best bartenders. They were very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We had chili rellenos and chicken enchiladas smothered with their awesome green chili. Everything was very tasty with just the right amount of spice. I am very particular about Mexican food and Savina's did not disappoint, and the house margaritas were very good also. The bonus sitting at the bar facing West you had the whole mountain range to look at. The menu is a little expensive but well worth it. We definity will be going back read more

First time back here in a few years, and honestly, my view hasn't really changed. As far as scenery/ambiance, I'm not sure you'll find a better spot in Castle Rock. With the huge patio and wall of windows, this is the place to be for a spectacular sunset. We showed up a little before 7 on a Sunday and were quoted a 30-min wait. The phone text came through in that timeframe that our table was ready. Food has always seemed very average, and it held serve again on this night. Having been unimpressed with most things I've tried before, other than the fajitas, which are very good but also very overpriced, I tried the Plato Al Olivo. The chicken was a little dry, and the carrots were undercooked, but overall, the dish was fine, albeit a little tasteless. My brother had the anniversary plate, and he was impressed with the quantity and quality of food. My wife was very happy with her cheese quesadillas. One daughter kind of went back and forth about the views for her chimichanga, and the other daughter wasn't terribly impressed with her enchiladas. Service is typically the downer here, and it was again on this night. Friendly enough, it's just not around enough when you need it. We went a good 30 mins without seeing our waiter at one point. This was also the point where we waited at least 30-45 mins for our food to come. Drinks and chips sat empty more than once. Soda products we got were flat. One had a small bug land in it, but then we couldn't get it replaced because we didn't see our waiter. My wife waited a bit for her side of rice even though she had her quesadilla a few minutes earlier. Considering how nice the facility is, and the level of pricing they get you to pay, it would be nice if the quality of food and service matched those expectations. Food gets a '3', and service gets a '1.' Come here for the view and the experience without expecting amazing food and service, and you likely won't be too disappointed. read more

Came in for a drink and dessert at the bar today. The bartender was super nice, and the mud pie was incredibly delicious. My husband had a couple of glasses of wine and I had a mocktail...some kind of coconut thing. Everything was really good. I was super excited to make a stop at La Loma Castle Rock after shopping at the outlet mall. We are big fans of the La Loma in downtown Denver. Pros: - our service was excellent! - no wait to be seated - beautiful view of the mountains and great facility Cons: - While the food looked delicious as seen in the pictures, no one in our party really enjoyed their entree. All the meals were ok. The burrito that we ordered had nothing in it except for beef wrapped in a flour tortilla. Has La Loma been the talk of the town these days? Am I the only one who feels that way? Well, when its Parker location opened (a few weeks ago), it was on the local news. Now its DTC location slated to open soon, my anticipation for this restaurant has grown so much. I know this is a change restaurant and yet, it's okay to adore chain restaurants as it's not sometimes those locally run businesses. Having that reasoning in mind, since I was in Castle Rock this late afternoon, I had to try its Castle Rock location to grab a dish for later. And my takeout experience as well as the actual savoring of what I got me went pretty well. This location of La Loma is HUGE! Once inside, a spacious waiting area in the kitty corner of my left eye, a man working at the tortilla making machine to my right and the reception desk right in the center were all there at the entrance. And right behind the reception is the spacious oval shaped bar area. And behind that are some tables alongside the tall windows where you can overlook the valley of the west side of the Castle Rock neighborhood. Quite the view it is! This Castle Rock location of La Loma resembles Sierra restaurant in Lone Tree a lot. I greeted the lady at the reception informing her that I was there to pick up my previously placed order of mine. I knew I was too early for it so utilizing that waiting time, I took some photos of the restaurant (as I couldn't help it!! I was simply Yelping is all!!) As they promised over the phone (when I called them to place my order), it was just at the 15-minute timeframe when my food came out from the kitchen. And it was neatly and nicely placed in a large brown bag. The restaurant was pretty busy even though it was at its tail end of the lunch time. They were punctual. The young lady (who took my order) was right. As she said it was going to be, my taco salad (in a shell) was separated into four different containers so that the shell would not be soggy; the shell was in a clear plastic bag, the ground beef was in an 8oz container, the greens (the actual salad part) were in a rectangular shaped (12oz?) container and the sour cream and the guac were in two separate 4oz containers. Wow, this is such a meticulous way to package a dish! Not only that, the complimentary chips and salsa were in the bag and the portions of them weren't no way near stingy. Like I said earlier, I got the food for later so after three and a half hours later, I finally got to savor the food. The careful packaging truly helped keeping all of the items fresh and not soggy. How considerate is this!! I really enjoyed the ground beef as it was well-seasoned. The salsa has got the quite kick in it where I had to take a break from time to time as my mouth was a bit burning and yet I really enjoyed it as this is/was also well-made. Definitely didn't taste like some cheap store-bought one! Mmm...I am already liking this restaurant. Now I can't wait for the DTC location to open. When it does, it will be packed for the first few months as long as the people find it good/great. I eagerly await its opening. In the meantime, I fantasize what I will eat next. This place is amazing. We went for a late lunch. I had the chicken and spinach quesadillas very good and very filling. My daughters had tacos. The chips and salsa were very good and the chips were fresh. They have an area to sit outside but the weather was not too good for outside on the day we went. The service was excellent and attentive. Upon recommendation from my orthodontist, this location did not disappoint. We came for the scenery- although it would've been better to sit close to the windows, our server made the experience incredible. We got seated right away and rang a couple drinks. We started off with chips and salsa. The salsa was nicely chunky to our liking. We decided to order the fajitas since our server said it would be plenty for 2. Our family has owned restaurants for 32 years in Colorado, so we are very knowledgeable in this industry! For the price point & experience your clientele expect knowledge, prompt service ! Which fell below average on this visit by far . We had to pile up our own dishes all throughout the 4 hour dinner of 20 + ppl we had attending from all across the front range area . We had to ask for water, drinks & someone to clear the table several times . It was a bit embarrassing that we chose our favorite place & had such an inexperienced waiter & assistant. Supervisors were walking the floor just to keep turning tables. They had no contact with the customers nor did they care to check on any tables . Maybe, this should be included in your duties ?? The servers were not busy , in fact the restaurant wasn't busy . They had time to chat by the bar while we walked up and ordered our own drinks throughout the evening. This should have been a red flag There were plenty of staff with different job titles observing & still no assistance or direction was given . It was an epic failure in the service area for sure. This is a very nice restaurant with such a great view especially for a sunset with the sun dropping behind the mountains. We got seated in a very spacious booth which was so nice overlooking the views through the all glass outer walls. Our waiter was very friendly and gave awesome service. The food was delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our Cinco de Mayo here, First of all it was our first time here and we were blown away by the view. We were sat at a booth, we really enjoyed being able to face the window to take in the view, it was very romantic, but really every table has a great view. The service here was wonderful too, our server James was very attentive. Food is good Tex-mex. I love that there is spice! The mini rellenos and green chile were delicious! I think this is a lovely affordable date night option if you love spicy food and tequila! *Just of note there is a 5 drink limit per person. I found this out after me and my husband ordered an el jefe(counts as two drinks) and an michelada each and then thought about getting a pitcher of mango margs but were denied as it would be over their drink limit. Mind you we were not even drunk so it's just a hard rule. We were a little bummed as it was Cinco de Mayo, but alas, we still had a wonderful time and enjoyed ourselves. Being Mexican myself, I'm always on the lookout for quality food worthy of the name. And I'm pleased to say this place did not disappoint the palate, down to the final crumb. It was delicious but the chile relleno wasn't traditional and def something new fusion because it looked like an egg roll and was small. Same for the flauta. This was my first time visiting this venue - and what a beautiful location, you have the view of the mountains in Castle Rock, the windows allow so much sunlight and the open space is really nice, creating opportunities to feel comfortable and not so crowded. So my hubby and I hungry after church decided on lunch and I ordered the steak fajitas with queso and he ordered Carne Guisada which is Top sirloin tips grilled in a spicy jalapeno and tomato salsa. Served with rice, black beans and house-made flour tortillas. But he wasn't happy. It had no flavor and the meat was tough. It was just sirloin chopped with some salsa on top and rice. I ordered the steak fajitas and they came out smoking with queso cheese and a side of rice and black beans. It can with amazing Tortillas, fresh and so soft. A side of guacamole, shredded cheese, limes, green chilies and sour cream and tons of grilled onions. To top my drink off I got a coke to wash it down. Our server was Katlyn and she was very pleasant. With my husband not happy with the outcome of his order we spoke to the amazing manager, Bailey. We talked about the meal my husband ordered and how it just didn't hit the mark and she understood and we aren't the only ones who experience that order. It really needs love and flavor, I know the recipe is family/chain but if You add some heat, peppers green pepper and jalapeños it could be a game changer. Bailey apologized and took the meal off and offered us a desert and a cup of coffee and oh my! The desert was the best part of my experience!! Mud pie is what it's called! Coffee ice cream and frozen Oreo cookie crush and topped with yummy whipped cream and a cherry - sitting in a bed of white and milk chocolate!!! The best for a chocoholic like me!! Really loved the (chips &) salsa - a perfect amount of spice and a punch of flavor. the crispy relleno was SO deelish! the spice was pleasing to our picky palates and overall it was so flavorful and fried to perfection. the stuffed sopapilla was tasty, it's definitely not a sopapilla. it's two won ton wraps deep fried with been in between the "sheets". it was quite flavorful, however, it was disappointing because it was not a fluffy, floury, doughy deep fried tortilla pocket that you come to expect when you are referring to a sopapilla. twas tasty, nonetheless. now, the green chile that smothered the bean sandwich (the "stuffed sopapilla") was slap yerself silly, mouthwatering scrumdiddle-ishuss!!! the pork was so tender and flavorful and the entire topping (green chili) was so tasty, it hurts (bc you just want more!!!) they could definitely be more generous with sour cream, especially for the flautas. They barely give you enough - total tease! this is the first la loma that we have visited. So we will have to check out the one in Parker & Greenwood Village since it's closer to home. we recommend this place 100%! and the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the disappointment with the sopapilla. Oh, & the rice was super lame too. No flavor - and typically Spanish or Mexican rice has either peas or carrots or both, salt &/or other spices too. Theirs is super bland. Absolutely stunning views and beautiful modern architecture. We adored the overlook of Castle Rock, especially from the brick seating around the fire pit. Service at the table and at the bar was quick, friendly, and efficient. The food was pretty standard Mexican food at high prices. Our favorite items were the chile rellano and the mud pie- both more American than Mexican really, but delicious. They serve the chile rellano with a green chile sauce with pork chunks in it that was really good. We also had the brisket chimichangas, which were good but a little salty. Everything was a little too salty, especially the salsa with the chips and salsa. We also had the house margaritas (loved the tajin rim option), the mango margarita (the mango wasn't strong enough, and they sent it automatically with a salt rim instead of asking what rim we would like), and the sangria (which was good, although made with white wine rather than the usual red). The mud pie was excellent, but frozen solid- the chocolate and white chocolate ganache it was served with was excellent. Overall everything was good but high priced, you are paying more for the view I think. I would be back for another date night, but I wish there was more creative interesting menu items to try. read more

The patio area is beautiful with a fantastic view of the mountains. We've been here a few times now and this time they just sort of seemed a little disorganized. The hostess said a 30 min wait but then we were seated immediately with lots of patio seating (not upsetting at all) the person seating us got us to the patio and had to to back to ask what table we were supposed to go to. Had to ask for extra tortillas 3x before they actually made it to the table. The margaritas were great and perfect for a summer patio meal! The meal itself wasn't great though and the food was pretty bland. At one point my 13 yo niece asked if it would be rude if she asked the waiter for some salt because her food didn't have much taste. Fine Dining Mexican with a View! We arrived around 4 pm without a reservation. We waited 20 minutes to be seated which wasn't bad, but we were originally seated in a back dining room with no one in it. The top reason we chose this restaurant was for the view so we asked to sit in the indoor patio area. The woman seating us seemed annoyed at the request, but she did accommodate, but her demeanor made us feel super awkward. The patio only had a few tables filled at that point in the evening. Our server was amazing!!! I wish I remembered her name because she was so friendly and professional. It really elevated our experience. I ordered the Texas Platter. The entire meal was delicious. The steak was well-seasoned with a good crust. I was skeptical about an egg roll-style chile relleno, but it worked! My husband had the skirt steak fajitas - it was a little odd to have to add peppers for an upcharge to the onions since typically both peppers and onions comes with fajitas, not just onions. The skirt steak wasn't that great. It lacked flavor, and the meat smelled like it wasn't fresh. We live in COS, but if we ever return, I'd get the Texas Platter again and try a different second entree. I definitely recommend coming at sunset! read more

Great service at this modern Mexican restaurant from our server Chloe who discussed all the favorites related to drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. The combo appetizer was a super fun thing, with two egg roll type chili rellenos, two chicken flautas, and two empanada-shaped nachos with a nice sized slice of grilled chicken on each. Also on the appetizer plate was a generous serving of green chili (excellent), which we put on everything! Now, if you get that appetizer, everything is fried, so chimichanga might not have been the best choice after that.....just saying because that's what my husband did. I ordered fajitas and they were perfect. We did end up bringing some fajitas, some chimi and some sides home. What we didn't bring home because it was gone in five minutes was the mud pie with its 1 lb Oreo crust (I might be exaggerating) and its coffee ice cream filling. Get it! The food was excellent as always even the appetizers, salsa and queso's are a must. I had some carnitas tacos which didn't disappoint. Actually all the food we ever had here is delicious. La Loma is the epitome is a 5-star restaurant. Upon entrance it's gorgeous with the lighting, fires outside on balconies, and overlooks the entire city. As you wait for your table you can see them making fresh tortillas, what a treat! We shared the Cadillac margarita pitcher for the table & it was delicious. Brother-in-law loved his chicken burrito, while husband & I shared the Chicken Fajitas for 2. We could've shared, but they were the best I've had! My family and I have been to this location numerous times since they opened and generally have an outstanding time. My last visit was Mother's Day (May 11th). By this point, I know to have a reservation and check in 10 minutes early. No issues with any of that my last visit (even though the restaurant was quite busy for Sunday lunch and Mother's Day). My family and I were seated promptly and had water, chips, and salsa brought out fairly quickly. That was the end of the good though... From that point forward, it was a waiting game. For drinks. For appetizers. For entrees. For the bill... Now I get it... busy on a holiday, but by the time we had clearly finished out meals, the restaurant was clearing out and the waiting area was even empty. This is such a beautiful restaurant, but unfortunately the food doesn't match up. We had the happy hour and my husband described it as glorified Taco Bell- no authenticity to the food. We ordered the appetizer platter and happy hour tacos which were so plain and bland with no creativity. Chicken fajita nachos were listed on our platter and apparently that is just a crispy triangle with chicken in it and they called that nachos- very deceiving. Hopefully they can and some true Mexican flare to their food. For now, we won't be back. read more
