Service was great! Everyone was really friendly and made our order quickly. Coffee flavors were unique and I would come back to try their many different teas. Seems like a good place to study since there was no background music playing, but also had a relaxed feel good for conversation. It is a vegan restaurant so they have milk alternatives like oat, almond, and soy.

I remember when Doshi House first opened back when I was in undergrad. So shoutout to them for longevity. Parking is still a challenge here. Its limited and mostly unsaved. The inside has ample seating and there is am outdoor covered seating area if you can tolerate the heat. I arrived right at 8am when theh opened so I was happy that they were actually ready ti take my order immediately. I ordered the potato and egg taco with a corn tortilla. Omg was it tiny but tasty! I didn't know what to expect but it was a flavor explosion of taste in my mouth! Soo good it was heavy on the chimmichuri, spice and flavor perfection. I do wish it were bigger though. Its definitely street taco size. I also ordered a regular latte with oat milk. And yes it was excellent too! The espresso to oatmilk ratio was perfection! I love that this place is plant based so all the choices are likely vegan! This place gives very chile vibes and provides a great place to study or get some work done. They also highlight local artist and businesses.

This place was such a fun find! It's a plant based coffee shop with calm vibes inside. We wandered in for a morning breakfast and were not disappointed. We got a gingersnap chai (SO GOOD), a mumbai sandwich, and a kbbq taco. The food was pretty good, I'm not sure what flavor profile I expected w the kbbq taco but nonetheless it tasted good! The coffeeshop itself is quite calm inside, the employees have a fun vibe, and it seems like such a good place to cowork. They were all sold out of the pastries but I'm excited to go back earlier in the morning one day try them. I do wish they had a larger stock though.

Super cute place here in 3rd ward! I got a Doshi Signature Latte, the pistachio latte. As you can see, I spilled it before trying it, and the barista was really nice about it and remade my drink. The coffee was pretty good, however a bit too creamy for me since I had to get oat milk (they offer vegan options only and were out of almond). I'm a whole milk girl through and through, so if you don't really like the textures or tastes of milk alternatives, don't come here.

I've finally found a coffee shop that has offers consistently good coffee and great customer service. I've visited several times and everyone is extremely friendly and inviting. My favorite drink is a Cortado with oat milk the espresso reminds me or raw cacao beans it's really intense and I love it. I'm not much of a latte person because I enjoy tasting my espresso. With that being said I do like the chai latte. They offer various baked goods that rotate so you can discover new things but my vice is the salt rosemary focaccia! I love the outdoor area the coffee shop itself is just inviting. 10/10 recommends a visit to Doshi house

I used to come here all the time back in 2015-2016, and then I moved to Austin and forgot about this place when I moved back! A friend suggested it recently and I was so excited to try it out. I remember loving this place! A lot has changed, it's more spacious than I recall, and the menu is now entirely plant based, I do remember it was very vegetarian friendly but if I recall correctly before they did serve regular whole milk, so it was a bit of a change. I don't mind plant based at all- but my fave plant based milks are coconut or pistachio milk. Almond/ soy/ oat are just too watery and I don't like the taste. For a place that's plant based they didn't have much in the way of options, my friend ordered before me and has the almond milk London Fog, and when I went to order they had ran out of almond milk. It was 10:30am on a Saturday so a bit early to run out. They only had soy to offer me, no thanks. I went with their water based hibiscus drink instead. They had a special of the day which was a three bean chili, served with focaccia. My friend and I both ordered a serving each. When it came out, it was not served with the bread. My friend and I were chatting away and thought it's fine we'll wait as we were catching up anyways. Well after about 15 minutes she went and asked for the bread, and was told oh whoops, okay let us get that for you. It took another 15 minutes to get her bread, so 30 minutes after it was served and her chili was cold. Meanwhile, I was still waiting for my serving. I finally asked and the main barista mentioned she noticed I hadn't received my food and that she's asked in the kitchen and apparently they've also ran out of chili. I do understand these things happen, it was pretty appalling that they chose to do nothing about it until I had to ask after my food and the delay. They offered my alternatives, and given that wait and delay, I wasn't willing to risk it. I had a hard stop, so I asked for a refund which they granted promptly. I don't understand how or why their service was so poor, it's not like they're new, and again it was so early in the day to be running out of food and milk. I don't think I'll be coming back which is disappointing given the fond memories I had of this place.

We were in Houston for a relaxing vacation and had this coffee shop on our list ahead of time since we're vegan and wanted a solid spot for coffee and a light breakfast. We ended up going twice--and both visits were great. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the coffee and food were spot-on. My wife had the hot pistachio latte (with a perfect little swan on top), and I had it iced--both were creamy, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. She ordered the Mumbai Sandwich, which the staff described as a deconstructed samosa--it didn't disappoint. Incredible flavor that kept you coming back for another bite. I went for the BBQ Korean taco, and it was so good I ordered a second one the next day. With so many vegan spots in Houston closing lately, this locally owned gem deserves all the support it can get. Here's hoping they're around for another 12 years!

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming and creative -- cozy seating, eclectic art, and a vibe that makes you want to linger with a good book or a friend. The coffee is consistently excellent, with rich flavors and thoughtful preparation. I especially love their lattes (perfectly balanced, not too sweet), and the chai is a must-try if you're looking for something comforting. What sets Doshi House apart is the community feel. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, and you can tell they care about creating a space that's more than just a coffee shop. It's a hub for conversation, relaxation, and inspiration. The food menu is another highlight -- fresh, plant-forward options that are both delicious and nourishing. Whether you're grabbing breakfast tacos or one of their curated smoothies, everything tastes homemade and crafted with care. If you're near midtown, third ward or the university area of Houston and want a spot that blends great coffee, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere, Doshi House should be at the top of your list.

The latte is the best I've had! They have many milk varieties. This has almond milk.

This is such a cute place!!! This is how a coffee shop should be. Love the cozy, cool, neighborhood vibe. People coming in seem to know each other. The staff are super happy and helpful as this was my first time. The food is delicious. The latte is amazing along with the 2 Just Egg potato tacos. It's a bit of a drive from my house but I'll be back!!

DOSHI House is a restaurant I would visit everyday. The carnivore in me would be so upset with me if I had a chef who could prepare vegan dishes like this. The vibe is calming and eclectic. The service was quick and friendly. I need a place like this in my life in Concord, NC

5/5 Jackfruit Chick'n 3/5 Korean BBQ I have heard a lot about this vegetarian friendly coffee shop and finally got the chance to check it out! I got 2 tacos on my visit and the jackfruit chick'n was a big surprise! It was flavorful and tender. However, the korean BBQ taco left me a little disappointed. While it was still flavorful, it tasted overly salty to me, which is a common challenge of imitating meat dishes not unique to here. Also the pistachio latte here is also delicious! There is plenty of indoor seating but also a HUGE outdoor patio that I can't wait to check out in the fall.

Was a quaint little coffee shop. I went there because it kept popping up for Vegetarian lunch, which this year, since I am doing this 'vegan on the weekdays' jam I need more veg options while I perambulate the streets of Houston. There aren't many options, I saw more on the reviews prior with a more expanded menu, but today it was just a selection of 4 tacos so I chose two. The tacos were okay. The Hibiscus tea was hibiscus tea. The spot was diverse, many people knew each other, seemed like a go-to spot for the neighborhood. Services was limited to behind the counter. Not sure I would drive across town to return but if I were hungry and happened to be in 3 mile radius, I would return to see if the other items on the menu return ie the sandwiches and flatbreads.

Doshi House is an H-town favorite for my wife and I! We are all over this city, let alone the world. It's always a pleasant comfort hanging out at Doshi House for some coffee, tea, and good healthy grub. Thank you all for working so hard everyday and for all that you do! A nice cozy place to get work done or just mingle in a nice centralized locale of Houston.

My family and I had heard about this place before in passing but we finally decided to give them a…read moretry. First off, this is NOT a restaurant. It's a one-man show. You order online hosted by hot plate and pick up at your scheduled time/date at their house. I ordered it but someone else picked up around 2 hours later. You get an automated text when it's ready and you text when you're there. For special requests, you can call/text the number as well; he was pretty helpful and responsive and mentioned to my brother in law that he personally made sure everything had no alliums at pick up. As a note: my family consists of allium-free vegetarians (with one vegan) so we asked ahead of time what our options were before we went for it. He (I really should have gotten his name) gave us a list of rolls that could be made allium free and we chose from them so you could say they do have an allium free menu upon request. We pretty much got almost everything on his list. For 5 adults, we ordered a total of 10 rolls: LOW-KEY LOKI (2) CLASSIC SPICY TUNAH (2) NIKCO ROCK N ROLL SPICY MAMI, HOT TAMALE SPICY DRAGON FIRECRACKER (2) When we opened the boxes, it turns out that he included an extra roll of SPICY MAMI, HOT TAMALE as well as a small container of seaweed salad which I thought was really nice of him! Or maybe we spent too much or there's some buy 10 rolls get 1 free promotion I was unaware of, haha. It was an unexpected surprise. I also have 2 kids but one has multiple food allergies and the other one is picky. She wanted a sweet potato roll, but it's not on the menu so we rolled up some seaweed rice rolls for them ahead of time so they weren't left out. I didn't bring up my kids because we wanted to ease in with the allium free request and go from there. Plus, one of the food allergens is avocado and that was found in almost every roll. On that note, there's an option to make it gluten-free on each item's page, which is pretty awesome. There's also an option to use soy paper instead of seaweed and to add extra ingredients at additional cost. My family shared everything so my plate was a mix and I honestly lost track of what I was eating at the time for personal notes. But honestly? Everything was delicious. Sushi was the last thing I gave up before becoming vegetarian and I'm picky with the sushi I eat now. These are very good and I must say if I lived in Houston, I'd order again. I do wish there was a place to sit or picnic nearby, but this worked as well. (We all congregated at a house.) There was one roll that definitely had a kick to it. Oddly enough, SPICY MAMI was not it. My nose tends to run with spicy food and I didn't get to that point but it was close after that one spicy piece. Overall, a great experience. Our rolls were $8 to $17 each, 8 pieces per roll. It was around $27.20 per person before tips and tax/fees from hot plate ($7.35). They were nicely packed complete with edible orchid flowers, and personal cups of ginger and wasabi as well as chopsticks and soy sauce packets. We finished everything. This certainly wasn't cheap but when is sushi affordable enough to be a daily thing? I do wish there weren't service fees added on top, but I guess the platform needs support too. Delicious and something to try whether or not you're vegan. I hope to order again our next time in town. Many thanks to the chef for the excellent experience and his help!

There was plenty onions and peppers which were cooked well but that's not what we were looking forward to. In addition, we couldn't even tell whether there was KORNY sauce added to it or not. Cookies and Cream Milkshake- 7/10. It was pretty good. Nothing special. Had a good consistency and flavor. German Chocolate Cake- 5.5/10. The cake itself was cooked well and really good. The icing which was coconut and something else wasn't very appetizing or appealing nor was it sweet. It was cold but we prefer our cakes room temperature. Overall, we would go back for the shroom tacos and probably try something else. They did have a very extensive menu. So I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others to try for themselves.

I'm visiting from Florida on a work trip, so I'll keep it brief. The interior could use some updated furniture, but honestly, it didn't take away from the experience. The AC worked well, and it was comfortable inside. The concrete floors might come across as "unfinished" or even dirty at first glance, but it felt more like part of the place's hip, industrial vibe. It's an older building with plenty of character. The person who took our order was very friendly and offered great recommendations. We tried the steak tacos, okra bites, and taquitos and everything was absolutely delicious. Don't let the negative reviews steer you away. We're glad we gave it a shot, it was definitely worth it!!!!

How is this place not ranked in the top 3 vegan restaurants in Houston?…read more For the seriously soulful vegan, this is where you have to go and try these delicious delectables, I have a few names below. First look at the menu, was like I will have one of these one of those and one of those as well. The list could go on, even though this was my first time trying this restaurant. I will say that vibe here is some what informal however the team is super friendly and nice! So my order was comprised of the following Collard greens : cooked and seasoned well Mac & Cheese : creamy and flavorful Barbecue Wings : battered fried and tossed Boudin rice balls : yummy Fried Catfish : texture and flavor was great Battered Shrimp: how can these not be real Yum Sauce: this can be married to anything Pineapple Lemonade: didn't quite hit the spot, so this was my least flavored item Nevertheless, I refuse to go into the detailed goodness of the each and every dish, because each of these I would eat again and this review would be ridiculously long and because after it's gone, all that I am left with are the unbelievable memories of taste. I have no negative comments on the food whatsoever. The facility is a little dated, however the quality and quantity of what arrives from that kitchen brings you back home. I will definitely be making this a home of mine in my search of Vegan cooking in the area. Please forgive me for almost leaving out the sauce that compliments pretty much anything they cook. Until the next time, Bye-Bye!

A great place for special events or date night. Featuring a beautiful menu crafted for plant-based living. However, anyone will enjoy the menu. We started off with the yucca fries and the SW hand pies. The fries were my absolute favorite. I did also enjoy the hand pies. They were very feeling. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive and handled the flow of the dining room exquisitely. I had the marsala, everything is well season. I really enjoyed the taste and texture of the oyster mushrooms. The potatoes were cooked perfectly along with the broccolini. My friend enjoyed the nachos. I have had them before and I never disappointed amount of spice, lots of flavor, It's definitely enough for two to share and once you start, you cannot stop. This is definitely a top pick for a nice dinner out.

I put an order in with the owner 3 days prior for a VEGAN LEMON CAKE. She said yes (failed to say it was a lemon ginger snap cake) and it was doable. I explained that my friends are now vegan and that I had been scouring the city. She was so friendly and charming and I really wanted to love her and the output of her services/goods. But I don't. In fact, I'm severely disappointed. I told her I had a lunch at noon and needed the cake by 11:15 bc I have a lunch at noon on the other side of town(their website says they open at 11). She asked me to come closer to 11:30 which I came at exactly 11:30 and the cake wasn't even there! Her son was there and he was sooo incredibly nice! Gave me some vegan samples and I ended up getting the vegan chocolate chip cookies and the vegan Netflix & chill. It was alright but the chocolate chip was where it's at. They each were $5.50.

I read somewhere that the bakery is set to close soon and wanted to share a few thoughts regarding how important this bakery is, not only to my original childhood neighborhood, but the city itself. What I love: how the building looks on the outside and inside; the owner is very kind, friendly and eager to converse with visitors; and the idea that you can purchase an album by The Jungle Brothers, David Axelrod, Andre 3000, De La Soul or D'Angelo along with sweet treats from the bakery is just so cool. As a cratedigger who loves buying records, this is just so impressive to me. The great artwork hanging on the walls is another plus. A family member bought a delicious strawberry cake for my birthday a few years back, and that was my first introduction to Crumbville. The owner's decision to offer vegan and gluten free desserts was a smart decision, but she also offers regular baked goods. During my first visit recently, I purchased a strawberry cupcake, which had a lime-flavored cookie base. It was sublime and reminded me so much of the birthday cake from years ago. Service was great here. Overall, I just love this place. It makes me smile, and I will be very sad to see it go.
