Tried this place for the first time while waiting on flight. I ordered the seafood omelet, it was excellent! The crawfish Julie and jumbo fried shrimp were great! The grilled biscuit was very good as well. I didn't get to eat my hash browns because I was stuffed. The portions are pretty big. Nice friendly staff. My granddaughter had pancakes and bacon which were very good. My daughter had the breakfast bowl, I gave three stars because it took three times to get it right. A great local (regional chain) diner with friendly staff, serving up tasty comfort food in a clean and pleasant atmosphere. The menu offers a wide selection of breakfast and sandwich items, all reasonably priced. On a quest for a good meal from a non-chain restaurant, I searched Yelp and found Dot's. I'd driven past Dot's several times and thought about trying it, and now I'm glad I did. I found easy parking right on the corner, and was encouraged when I saw local law enforcement and taxi drivers dining here. Greeted when I entered, I decided to sit at the classic diner counter. The interior is nicely done in a semi-50's diner motif, with a fair amount of seating including booths and tables. Flat-panel TVs with CNN and ESPN gave you something to watch if the local color didn't somehow maintain your interest. The waitress promptly provided me with a menu and asked for my drink order, all the while greeting other diners as they came in, many by their first names (obviously a local favorite.) After reading about the Crawfish Julie (thanks Meli E.), I decided to have the seafood omelet with hash browns. Watching the cool looking cook whip up my omelet (she sure knew her way around the kitchen!), it was ready within a few minutes, and served with a buttermilk biscuit that was halved and then browned on the grill, a nice touch! My omelet was delicious, as were the hash browns. Despite my best efforts to limit how much I was going to eat, everything was so tasty I wound up eating it all. I checked out using a major credit card for under $10, and left with a satisfied smile on my face. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area! read more

"Fast and on Point" Just about to leave New Orleans and saw that this place was near the airport and decided to give it a go. This was the best decision I made today, especially with the breakfast Crawfish Creole Queen platter. The service was excellent and the old school diner theme was clean and crisp. I really like this diner. The staff is friendly and the service is good. It's almost like your eating in your kitchen and your mama is waiting on you. "Can I get you anything ", " would you like some more drink ", etc. I come here for one thing only, the Patti melt. It is always perfection on a plate. Surrounded by French fríes and grilled perfectly. I really enjoy Dots , and i always eat here alone, why , because it brings back memories and I get to enjoy them and the food (my Patti Melt ) What goes better with a Patti Melt but a root beer, and when I'm ready to leave, they always ask ,"can I refill your root beer to go ". Soooooo this is my second time here in 3 days. I am originally from Northern Virginia where we have dinners everywhere. I found this place on yelp and decided to stop in. The staff greeted us and sat us down. They could tell we were from out of town....lol they pointed out everything that was their favorite on the menu. I had the egg, bacon, grits and biscuit and honey let me tell you about these home made biscuit...AMAZING!! Now day 2 I had an omelet with hot sausage and veggies!!! It was sooooo good. What a pleasant surprise for breakfast; a old time diner by the Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans, Louisiana . We decided to eat outside the hotel and I was googling breakfast places near the hotel and lo and behold "Dots Diner" popped up and the reviews were great. Checked the menu ahead and it's exactly what we wanted. Completing my Facebook Tour of America visiting Friends it was the perfect choice. It was great meeting Katie and Her Husband and her Daughter Samantha. The Restaurant brings you back to simplicity and comfort foods. Pleasant staff welcomes you the way you were welcomed when I was younger. That folks is about 40 years ago. Great prices and plentiful dishes. The President of the Restaurant Mark was sitting at the next table and was pleasant and hospitable. The waitress Pamela was competent and very Friendly. Cute bill boards adorn the restaurant and 7 page menu from breakfast to lunch to dinner; open 24 hours. They welcome your business and even the dishwasher person said thank you as we were leaving. I went on a weekday recently, and the breakfast was delicious... The manager even came out to make sure that I was well taken care of. They had an endless cup of coffee and were always available, but did not "over serve". They even made sure I had a seat with the best WiFi. This has got to be the most unfriendliest diner I have ever been in. Stopped by on a Thursday morning for breakfast.arrived at 10:35 - diner was maybe 2/3 full. Stood at the door and waited a solid 2 minutes before anyone looked up, acknowledged or even made eye contact. Only received acknowledgment after a family of 3 walked in, and then only because they assumed I was with them. Got seated at the counter at 10:42. Proceeded to sit there until 10:45 before anyone brought a menu or offered coffee. Server did check on me at 10:48, but I had barely gotten the menu so I was not ready. At 10:50, I closed the menu- a universal signal to any server that the guest is prepared to order- and continued to sit waiting for acknowledgement to have my order taken. At 11:01, order was finally taken. On top of all of this, the gentleman standing at the counter directly in front of me never spoke or made eye contact the entire time I was sitting there. Finally got my breakfast at 11:38- after watching it sit on the counter for 3 minutes and watching the server who eventually picked it up try to deliver it to another guest at the counter. When I said "I think that's mine" as the other guest questioned whether it was hers, the server then proceeded to return to the grill to debate the seat number on the check with my actual server before giving it to me. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 30+ years. The staff here is not friendly and not interesred in actually doing their jobs. I will never return. There are a wealth of local establishments within the area that do a far superior job of custimer service. They will get my $$ in the future. read more

My first night in New Orleans, and I wanted to try Po boy, it was the only restaurant open that served Po boy near us. We were welcomed by our waitress Jeanne, a very sweet and friendly lady who guided us through the menu as we don't eat beef or pork or any other kind of meat except sea food. I like the greasy spoon my wife would say, my son likes it even more. I wish Baton Rouge had comfort food places like this. I've been here a few times with just my son and with the whole family. It's open 24/7 and you can get the craziest burgers, sandwiches and of course breakfast anytime. My sons new favorite is the ice cream shake with whipped cream, pair that with banana pancakes. The people are really great which makes it a great visit.
