    Dad with his first beer!

I wasn't too sure what to expect when I booked this cabin online. I did a Google search for cabins in Show Low/Pinetop and this place came up. I was fairly impressed with the pictures, as well as price, online...so I decided why not?! I booked the cabin for one night on a Thursday. They offered an online discount if you mentioned that you found them online (10%). My cabin (which sleeps 4) came to around 88 dollars. Not too shaby in my book! Upon arrival I was a little afraid of what would lie ahead. The reception/check in area was ragged and old, and couch cushions were thrown around the guest area...hmmmmmmmmmm and crappppppp I thought. The owner (I presume) was friendly and accommodating. I was able to check in early which was an added bonus. We drove to our little cabin. How quaint. The cabin had a swing rocker outside and a bench as well. There were windows all around the cabin. Upon entering, you are greeted with one futon couch (sleep 2), a flat screen tv with cable, a small table, decent sized fridge/freezer, cabinets with utensils/plates/pans, sink, and 2 burner stove. There was a small heat stove in the living area and 2 ac units (though I don't know why you would need it) in the cabin. The bathroom was fairly decent in size with a basic sink, tub, and toilet. The water was ICE COLD and took a tad to get hot. Nothing fancy here. NOTE: Please bring extra soap and shampoo items. The ones that were provided were a little skimpy and super basic...no extras here. There are several BBQ grills located around the property which proved beneficial when we made dinner. The other cabins and hotel rooms were spread out throughout the property. Other neighboring visitors were quiet and no issues arose there. The bed in the extra room was a queen and had comfortable bedding. It was a little hard but proved to be a nice nights sleep after a long drive there. In all, cozy little place that I will definitely return to in the future. I do wish that they provided more in terms of amenities and that extra mile, but that won't stray me from considering them.

Really cute lodge! The place was really clean, it was nice and quiet. We chose this place when we were planning our road trip with Yelp, they had good reviews. Affordable prices and also they are Pet friendly!

Pictures don't give this place any justice. Thought our cabin was beautiful. Good location. What should be expected when getting a cabin, and then sum. Really happy with this place!

Before our arrival, I called on Tuesday and spoke with Erika, who was incredibly kind and understanding. I explained that we were traveling to town for the funeral of a childhood friend. When we checked in, I explained the situation again to the front desk associate, who was also very courteous. The hotel was clean, the room was comfortable, and everything started off wonderfully. We paid for a late checkout. Although it was a holiday weekend and the hotel could only extend it until 2pm instead of the usual 3pm., that was completely understandable and not an issue. I again explained that I would be attending funeral services about 45 minutes away in Cedar Creek, where I would have little to no cell service. My husband would remain at the hotel with our two young children, a 3-year-old and our 4-month-old baby--until I returned so we could leave together. I arrived back at the hotel at approximately 2:10pm and immediately went to the front desk. I explained that I had just returned from the funeral and only needed five minutes to change out of my dress into comfortable clothes before my family and I got on the road. The front desk associate and, I believe, the manager assured me that was fine that they will let housekeeping know. When I got to the room, I discovered that at 2:05 p.m.--just five minutes after our late checkout time--a staff member had already called the room, and my husband and our two small children had been asked to leave. They were standing outside the hotel with all of our luggage, our toddler, and our infant, waiting for me. That was incredibly upsetting. The hotel staff knew exactly why we were there. They knew we had paid for a late checkout. They knew I was attending a funeral and that I was returning as quickly as I could. Yet there was absolutely no grace, compassion, or consideration shown to my family. Five minutes after checkout, despite knowing the circumstances, my husband and children were already being ushered out of the room. That level of disregard was disappointing and unnecessary. To make matters worse, when I asked if I could quickly use a restroom to change, I was told there wasn't one available in the lobby. I was then sent back to the room we had just vacated, where three housekeepers were already cleaning it. It was a standard room with two queen beds--not a large suite--and I only needed a few minutes to change clothes before leaving. I've worked in hospitality myself and hold a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, so I understand the importance of turning rooms over quickly, especially during a full holiday weekend. What I don't understand is the complete lack of empathy and basic courtesy shown to my family during an already difficult day. It's unfortunate that an otherwise wonderful stay was overshadowed by how we were treated at the very end. A few minutes of patience and compassion would have made all the difference. Instead, my lasting memory is of my struggling husband, with our frazzled toddler, and our sobbing four month old infant - standing disheveled against the wall outside with all of our belongings. IMMEDIATELY, after I spoke with front desk; upon returning from a funeral. The contradiction of hospitality in those moments was unnecessary, and left a very sour ending to an already terrible and emotional morning. I wasted time and energy being sent back to do exactly what was agreed upon, in a far more uncomfortable way. All I needed in that moment as a grieving and post partum mother was: a small crumb of peace and compassion. Yet, we were met with disregard. I'm absolutely furious. I'm patiently waiting on your response, looking forward to hearing back from you promptly.

I filed a CORPORATE COMPLAINT WITH HEADQUARTERS and they did nothing since I didnt speak to management. Why they dont have another sweet especially didnt have a balcony. I couldnt stay anywhere else as my mom was staying here as well for her upcoming surgery. There was nothing the property management could have done! Everything from the staff at check-in, maintenance staff we encountered on the grounds, the facilities etc. all exceeded expectations. There are 3 Jacuzzis on site, which was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here. There is one at the back of the complex, which is covered and is the LARGEST hot tub we have ever been in. Everything was well kept, manicured, clean and well thought out. The room we stayed in was the studio with Murphy bed. At first I was skeptical when my Husband booked it however it was SPACIOUS for a studio and the layout allows a ton of natural light, they even leave a "welcome" basket, which was a great touch! Every single room here will have a view of the woods, so you won't ever be disappointed! The only downside I can see is that there is no A/C, and while it is the Mountains, it still gets hot in the summer. I would not stay here during the Summer when temps reach almost 100.

The toilets barely work, it takes at least three tries to get it to flush. Not to mention, the bugs crawling around in my bed?! This place is disgusting. If you need anymore convincing of how terrible it is here, there are so many hornets flying around the pool. That probably doesn't have anything to do with the hotel itself, but nevertheless, it made my experience here even worse. It's leading me to believe that theres a nest near the hotel, which they should definitely take care of. This trip has been very disappointing for us. We stayed at this hotel a couple years back, and it wasn't NEARLY this bad. This place has definitely gone severely downhill, which is very sad considering how beautiful Pinetop is. Maybe its better in the winter, but I'll never find out because I'm never coming back here.

That is what makes it a very special time in my opinion. Time to think and reflect, do projects, binge shows from your favorite streaming service, take long walks in the neighborhood and along nearby trails, and truly pull back from the normal day to day. With my dog nearby, it was a truly rejuvenating week. The units have everything one needs to be comfortable. Full kitchens, comfortable furnishings, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a deck with furniture and a grill for your outside moments, and TVs, strong wifi, garage, and even a washer and dryer. I highly recommend Quality Hill for a great change of scenery, especially if you live in the Phoenix or Tucson areas. Pinetop is at 7300' in elevation, so the air is clean and the temps are much cooler. Hope you plan a visit soon!
