And you can walk to all the local restaurants. The cabin itself is beautiful. Full kitchen, grill, outdoor patio to relax. The indoor fire place will keep the entire cabin warm, on those cold nights. Great Experience! We will be back. We wanted a weekend getaway but didn't have the time or budget to go far. This place was perfect! Our cabin was fully loaded with everything we needed and the location is remote enough -- out in the woods, but close to restaurants and local attractions. Family and Pet-friendly. Had plans to camp but got snowed out, called these guys around 8pm and they were able to accommodate us (very last minute)! We loved the grounds, the cabin & the service. First off this is not a luxury 5 star property. More like a family members cabin you used to spend time at growing up. With that said, we found our cabin to be extremely clean as was the property. The beds were comfortable enough, the kitchen adequate for cooking easy meals (the Bbq was spotless), and cable tv if you just want to veg out. We spent a lot of time on the very nice porch out front. The property was located close to many good restaurants. The owners take pride in the cabins and devout a lot of time to maintaining the grounds. There are 500+ acres of forest land with well marked trails at the rear of the property as well as a lake about 3/4 of a mile by walking/biking trail. If you are into MTB there is Los Burros trail (13.9 mile ride) about a 30 minute drive away. Bill and Darrlyne own and run this establishment and have since 1978. Both are very friendly and accommodating. My wife, myself, and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay here. I highly recommend staying here. read more

Stayed for 4 nights in August. I had prepaid $869.00. Received a receipt showing paid in full. My credit card was charged that amount in June. After we left our cabin in August, we were immediately charged $873.00 for the same stay. After several emails and calls, the owner kept claiming she had never received the first payment. She refused to refund the second bogus charge. I had to get my Visa credit card company involved, and of course they investigated and removed the second charge. They permanently deleted it in my favor. read more

I left a review 2 years ago under another yelp account (whoops) but like we said, we went back and just as expected, great service! Even with Covid going on, it was still a great getaway. There was hand sanitizer available at the office and safety precautions are in place to make you feel safe. We went in the beginning of August and most access to the creeks and lakes were closed because of the reservation but Greer is only about an hour away if you want to go hiking, and the drive is beautiful. My husband and I stayed here about a year and a half ago, (maybe two years ago) our first trip to pinetop. We live in Tucson, and I'm from Colorado, and I desperately needed that forest/cabin vibe again LOL. Pinetop is my favorite place to get away for a staycation. I also LOVE this place. The owners were so friendly, and had no issue with my dog, Harley. She loves hiking and it's too hot for her down here in Tucson to do that. We don't go away very often, and it meant the world to me to me that they are a dog friendly place. It's so nice to be able to enjoy our vacation with your pups and create memories. A few months later, I regretfully booked a stay in pinetop with another accommodation, and all my husband and I could think about was how much we missed Northwoods. We tried to not to let it ruin our trip, but I will NEVER book with another place AGAIN. Northwoods made our stay perfect and I will continue to ALWAYS book with them in the future. We have a trip planned up there next weekend and our event we had tickets got cancelled. We were so disappointed because they rescheduled to a date we are not able to go. Oh well! We just spent a few days at the Northwoods Cabins and it was delightful. The owners are so hands-on and welcoming, and their attention to detail and hospitality are first class. Our cabin was clean and comfortable, and our kids loved being right next to the play area. There is a fun fire pit for making s'mores, and you can hike trails right from the property. The only thing I would warn anyone about is that the property is close to the main road, so there is traffic noise during the day. However, the nights were peaceful, and we really loved our stay. The cabin was a perfect size for 2 people - very spacious and clean. Well equipped with dishes for cooking and serving and plenty of extra sheets and blankets. The cabin has the "general rules" posted by the door which direct you to the appropriate resources for extra towels and toiletries. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub, perfect for two. The office has plenty of information about the surrounding area, to include restaurants and sights to see. The cabins are spaced far enough apart that you feel like you're in the woods by yourself which provides a lot of privacy and there is a general / communal fire pit area where everyone can gather. read more

We stayed for 3 nights and brought our dog along. I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back! The cabin literally had everything you can think of: pots, pans,, dishes, towels, coffee maker, full size fridge, spare blankets and pillows. We brought some groceries and grilled outside on the porch. It was a perfect getaway. We went in July and it was a whopping 70°. We stayed over the 4th of July holiday, our family rented out 3 cabins. We all absolutely loved the area and cabins! Nuce and quiet property close to walking trails. The folks that own and run take such good care of the property and make you feel at home! Cabins are clean and furnished they have thought of everything. Great cabins. The cabins are very cozy, with fire places and great scenery. There is a trail on back leading to woodland Reservoir and creek. About a .7 mile walk. They have a fire pit and play ground and are extremely pet friendly!!! They have a laundry room also. The people that run it are great our daughter feel and busted her lip they had great first aid kits and he even brought her gummy bears! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Near the 260, busy during the day (wasn't loud at all inside)And very quiet at night. We stayed here for 3 nights in June and brought our Lab with us. This is a great place to bring your dog and the owners seem to really love animals. The cabin was cute, cozy and CLEAN! I spoke with the owners on the phone a few times before I came to the cabin just to make sure everything was set up. Every time we talked they were sweet and were excited to meet me! Very comfortable, clean and friendly staff. All cabins have shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and shower caps. Quiet atmosphere and the cabins are well kept. They have both gas and regular fireplaces. Recently remodeled and all at a reasonable price. We come every year to enjoy these particular cabins. It's a great getaway from the hectic city life. We were so lucky to find this place on Memorial Weekend. It was very clean and spacious, with a fireplace, two recliners and a couch and three bedrooms. We also liked the full kitchen and the grill on the porch. Everything we needed was right there. Including a playground, a creek nearby and a 20 min walk to the prettiest lake. Andy was nice on the phone when we booked and his father Bill was very hospitable when we arrived and helpful during our stay. Overall we loved it, had a great experience and it was a great price! We love this place! Our family has been coming to Lakeside/Pinetop for years and regret not finding this place sooner. Our family & dog spent the weekend at Northwoods Resort and had a great time. This is a family owned resort and the owners are so friendly and accomodating. The cabins are modern and clean, 2 recliners and a couch. We had a fire in the fireplace every night. I really like the layout of the cabins and the property was very well maintained. It was nice to have a big covered porch to sit and relax on. We were so fortunate to be referred to Northwoods Resort by one of the nearby resorts. Fortunate for us they still had a cabin available over the Memorial Day weekend and Andy was so informative about the area & pleasant on the phone. Happily we booked our weekend with them & had a beautiful drive up from the Picture Rocks area outside of Tucson. We were greeted in the office by the owner, Bill and such a pleasant man to speak with. Since we once lived on the mountain in the early 1980's we got to chat some with Bill about the beginnings of his adventure with Northwoods in the 1970's & shared some experiences about our time living up there. We couldn't have been more pleased with the cabin we stayed in...everything was clean & ready for us to start enjoying the moment we stepped into the place. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful back deck with the sounds of a soft breeze going through the pines...we were relaxed from that moment on. While the men fished I stayed behind to enjoy the quiet & keep our 2 dogs company. Started a crackling fire in the fireplace & sipped coffee out on the back deck for awhile. Peace & quiet day & night .... I was surprised because we were just off the 260 but the little sound from that in the day was no problem. Laughter filled the air as some of the other lodgers children played on the playground & I heard the sound of horseshoes in the distance as someone was playing. We determined we would start looking for a little plot of land to build a couple small homes on for us & family and make plans to move back up on the mountain. My wife and I arrived at 4:00pm on a Friday and met the missing cast member from Duck Dynasty at the office (Sorry I don't remember names that well). A very very nice man (and thank you for your service to our country) which he pointed us to our cabin (Literally pointed) which we didn't mind because that's why we were here.... Adventure! We found our cabin with no problem as everything is clearly marked. We entered our cabin and was pleasantly surprised. It looked as warm and cozy as it does in the pictures! While settling in my wife took our 2 year old to the play ground and within 5 min of being there he got hurt. The playground is definitely not toddler rated. We have settled in for the night and found the cabin to be way more cozy and accommodating then we could have imagined. The fireplace was a huge hit with the wife and toddler. The next morning we went to the office and signed paperwork and inquired about the area. We also inquired about extending our stay by a day and they said it was no problem and that they would give us a night free as part of the promotion they had! WOW! Who does that? And they didn't even know about my toddlers bad accident on the playground so it's not like they were trying to make up for anything. Since I'm typing this review in the middle of my stay, says a lot. My wife and I love to hike and just be outdoors. This is definitely the place to be. If for any reason things change then I will re-review and the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the playground needs a lil TLC! We will definitely return! Northwoods Resort did not disappoint. First let me say you get a lot for your money. We booked two nights and with a special promotion we ended up with a third night free. The resort is located just off of the main road so very easy to find. The office was clearly marked and when we entered were greeted by Daryllyn. She was extremely friendly and provided us with a magazine with "things to do" in Pinetop along with a map of the property and surrounding trails. We were pleased to see that she assigned up to cabin 9 "The nut house". Charming cabin on the outside with a front deck, BBQ and seating area. The inside of the cabin was cozy and offered a high top dinning area, couch and recliner. We especially liked the gas fireplace and loved the fact how quickly the cabin heated up. The kitchen offered a full size refrigerator and oven. Very clean and it was nice that glasses, dishes and pans were provided for our use. I loved the bear curtains that highlighted the great views from every window. The bedroom boasted a spacious king size bed and dresser. Nothing fancy but exactly what you would expect in a cabin. The grounds are well kept and they even had laundry machines to use for extended stays. I will be booking another stay once the weather warms up a bit. Can't wait to see how lovely the grounds are in the spring time. read more

I am in disbelief about the experience I just had with the owner of this resort, Bill. I called him and was interested in renting a cabin, but after a long discussion about different things, I asked him how many dogs they allow, and he said two. I have three dogs, and so I was disappointed and told him I did not want to leave a dog home alone. He did not say, "oh, that's alright, we can make an exception for your little 8 lbs dog"..We hung up, and after some more consideration, I decided I would leave him with a friend for a night, and he'd be fine, and I called back 5 mins later and asked to book the cabin. His wife answered and said Bill would call me back because she does not do reservations.. She was very nice. I waited for his call and it never came. The next morning I called back and Bill answered and said the cabin had been booked. I told him I was waiting for his return call, at which time he informed me that he did not believe me. I did not know what he meant. He further explained that he believed I would bring my third dog and try to "hide" him. I was dumb-founded! Is this small-town mentality? I was very offended, and he continued to justify his belief by saying he has been doing this and long time and therefore, he just knew. I had told him I couldn't leave my dog home alone, so by that he concluded that I would lie and smuggle him in! Preposterous! I would never do that or think I could even get away with it if it ever DID cross my mind! Which it would not. I simply found a friend I trusted to leave him with. I believe HE lied to me about having rented it out, in order to avoid renting it to me. This is what a hate about small towns, the small-minded people! read more

My husband & I spent 3 nights in a cabin at Northwoods Resort in June. Our cabin was placed away from the highway in the tall pines & it was quiet. It was fully-equipped & very clean. It made a great jumping off point to the several lakes, hiking trails, & antique shops which we visited. We were able to spend lots of time on our front porch just reading and talking in the cool mountain air. The gas grill on the front porch was great for lunches & dinners. The kitchen was stocked with all kinds of equipment; I even found a cheese grater when I was sure there wouldn't be one. The bathroom was spotless. Our bedroom was in the back of the cabin, quiet, and had plenty of extra pillows & blankets. Our king-size bed was comfy. The wifi was excellent. The nice man in the office very friendly & helpful; he's lived there a long time & knows the area well. I would highly recommend Northwoods Resort if you're staying in the Lakeside/Pinetop area. I cannot speak highly enough of Northwoods Resort. I grew up going there with my family as a child almost every summer (in fact, my parents went there when my mom was pregnant with me!) and we have the fondest memories. Now I am married and pregnant with our first child and when it came time to pick a location for our last vacation before baby arrives I immediately thought of Northwoods. We spent 4 days in the beautiful pines a couple weeks ago and it was just as restful and magical as I remember it being as a child. The cabins are immaculately clean, comfortable, and cozy, and I love sitting on the patio and watching the blue jays, squirrels, and other critters. The cabins are also tucked away enough from the main road so you don't hear traffic and you feel like you're nestled deep in the woods. Woodland Lake is just down the road and has a paved path around it that makes for the best quiet morning walks. Darbi's is a go-to restaurant as well as Pinetop Brewing Company. All in all, Northwoods Resort is amazing and I would recommend to anyone. Bill, the owner, and his wife are also some of the nicest people you will ever meet! read more
