This is definitely a price-gouging type situation. Taking advantage of people staying at the resort. It felt like airport prices. I met a friend here for dinner one night while her child was at a birthday party. I opened the menu and had to do a double take at the prices. But okay, okay. I decided to go with the flow and enjoy the "high dollar" experience we should be getting. Wrong. We ordered sushi, because that seemed to be the only decently priced item. My D/C roll was actually decent and the toasted salmon was good too, just bland and both were still over priced. The complimentary bread though, is chef's kiss. That is the only reason I'd ever go back. There was a live singer that sounded like cats fighting in the back alley and it was very loud. There wasn't a dress code, so despite the fine dining prices, children and people in swimming attire were there as well. I have no problem with this at a typical restaurant, but not one with prices such as these. Just a random side note as well, the soy sauce was soooo soooo salty. It made it hard to eat my sushi. The moment you walk into Double Cut, which is inside the Kalahari Resort you know that it will be a great experience. It is beautifully decorated and you are greeted right away. Our waiter Josue was both knowledgeable and friendly. We took our son here for his 9th birthday upon his request (expensive taste I know!) we spent the whole day here for Tom Foolery's (games & arcade). The salads were fresh, as were our sides. The filet mignon was incredible! The food is great and super rich as this is not your everyday place to eat, but great for special occasions. I highly recommend. read more

Great food. The atmosphere is wonderful. This is a great place for a nice date night. It's a little pricey, but what I would consider normal for a resort. We stayed at Kalahari when the electricity went out in Texas for the second time this year. While there, the family wanted to have a nice dinner. We got the hanging bacon appetizer which was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. The pasta was superb. My daughter ate every last bite. My first impression was disappointment, I was not seated at my reservation time due to a surge in customers. Which I could clearly see but the polite ladies at the front were apparently unaware of. When I did get seated it was in the bar area. I could have sat there without a reservation... As luck would have it, I got the best waiter they have, Josue. He got us settled and taken care of. The stars of this place are the drinks made by Red the bartender. She is worth the tip. So as my date is getting better with some of the best crab cakes this far inland from the gulf, then my wife's steak comes out overcooked and my crab legs show up a little warmer than room temperature undressed and without butter. This was rectified but as we were sitting there waiting we noticed several customers that had to return food to the kitchen. Once everything got to the table (cold crab legs still) the food was really tasty. The steak ate like pudding, the Brussels were firm and seasoned right. A little too much char on the broccoli. Food is great but service is pitiful. We celebrated our anniversary last night and made an online reservation for 8:30 pm. We checked in at 8 pm and sat at the bar while we waited for them to come and get us. Hostess said they would come and get us when our table was ready. We were still there at bar at 8:40 pm and had to ask if it was ready. They were seating a party of 6 people and seemed to forget about us. So we sat down around 8:35 and the service was awful from then on. We ordered our food, didn't get an offer for more drinks, and some of our drink orders never got to the table. Waitress was MIA and had to call another server. We noticed other tables around us getting their food and snacking on bread. We had been talking and asked our server if we were supposed to get bread as well and she said she's get some for us. Another lady brings it and we asked her if it has to be requested and she said no. Well we had been here for an hour without any bread so it looks like they left us to starve at the table. I ordered the lobster bisque soup to fill me up and dip bread in. It was good - very creamy from the creme fraise. Then, our food is brought to us OVER AN HOUR later as we are sitting there starving, no drink refills, and multiple requests for more beer or water which had not been attended to. They brought the bread out like 10 minutes before the main courses and we were so carb-filled we asked for the check and the food to-go. Everything was about $200 for both of us. I got two glasses of Prosecco and my husband got beer. We didn't want their dessert, we wanted to go and walk around. We were VERY disappointed in the food service we received although the food was delicious. The timing of the appetizer and main course should not be so close back to back. Service takes forever and they're forgetful. I probably won't come back here because it took soooo long for a simple nice meal. read more

My family and I, a party of three, were in for Father's Day dinner. From order time to delivery, our meal took 45 minutes. During that time we had to flag down other staff members for drink refills as our server had ghosted us. Once our meal arrived, my husband's steak was cold, mine was over cooked, our sides were cold, including the baked potato, and a film had developed over the Mac and cheese and hollandaise sauce. The manager offered a free dessert for the delay in receiving our meal but after how horrible our dinner was served we did not accept the offer. Getting a steakhouse in Round Rock was desperately needed, so I went to Double Cut with high hopes. Looking at their menu before we went, it looked like a normal steakhouse that you would find elsewhere in the city. However, it's clear Kalahari operates its restaurants knowing that they are a resort and not to the same standard that you would find at a similar restaurant outside. Our experience: 1. We ordered the Calamari. It wasn't bad. The aioli could use a little work as it tastes mostly of mayo with a ton of lemon, but we were happy with this one. A different aioli or dipping sauce would be better. 2. We ordered 2 salads, the caesar and the wedge. They were both not bad. 3. We ordered a 12 oz filet medium-rare and split it. First, the steak was not prime. I would compare it to a cut/quality that you would expect to find at Outback or Logans. Second, and I truly don't know how to accomplish this, but half the steak was medium and half was rare. I honestly thought how, if I were even trying to do that and couldn't come up with anything. 4. We ordered 3 sides - creamed spinach, creamed corn and truffle fries. The truffle fries were probably my favorite of the night and that should be pretty telling, even though they were served with the same aioli that we spoke of with the Calamari. The creamed spinach and corn were both leaving a lot to be desired. The creamed spinach was as if the spinach had been boiled, unseasoned and then put into a warm cup of heavy cream. That's it. No seasoning, no shallots as advertised, no cheese. Just boiled spinach haphazardly placed into warm heavy cream. The creamed corn was similar. Corn kernels placed into a warm cup of heavy cream. That's it. The price is the same as you would pay at any other steakhouse, such as Flemings, Sullivans, Three Forks, etc. I suggest you take your business there as Double Cut isn't worth the price. read more

Tuna was good but the filet cut wasn't worth the price. It tasted like a bagged meat product. Beef carpaccio was ok but I like the flavor of the beef and the toppings took away from main dish. Service was great. The reason I gave it a two is because no one should pay that much for a steak and it taste that bad. I would rather go to Fast food joint and eat a burger. We had an incredible double date at Double Cut last weekend. Can't beat the atmosphere and vibe- walked into the resort past two giant lion sculptures and an outdoor African themed market complete with live music, into the swanky and soft lit steakhouse. No wait and our party of four walked through the elegant restaurant, which was surprisingly large, to a cozy booth toward the back. Expansive wine and alcohol menu with something for everyone! Unique starters and appetizers, salads, seafood and every cut of beef one could ever want with plenty of options for sides too. I had an end cut of prime rib and it was incredible! My husband chose the Alaskan crab legs and they were huge and perfectly presented and prepared. Our friends chose the rib eye and a salad and they loved every bite. The fresh, house made bread was the best bread any of us have had...maybe ever. I had heard some negative reviews about this restaurant and I was a bit apprehensive about trying it but I'm so glad we did! Truly a 5 star experience from start to finish- the service was on point and we will never forget our server, Bebek's (be back!) stories about growing up in Nepal. Plenty of desserts to choose from too- I loved the pecan bread pudding. We finished our epic date in the Red Room- the piano lounge right down the hall from the restaurant- with our favorite espresso martinis...that place gets 5 stars too! read more

The food was excellent the service was even better, server was knowledgeable and whines and informative about her menu we partook in the dry rubbed ribeye and the fillet both were cooked to perfection and fall off the bone tender, but what stole the show were the sautéed mushrooms absolutely superb nearly went into the kitchen to extort the recipe. I had the herb roasted half chicken with mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and truffle fries. The waiter even let us know about the deal for three small sides for a smaller price than individual ones. Went to tonight while staying at the resort. The worst service I have from anywhere for a long time. The waiter did not bring are drinks until after 30 mins of us sitting there. Then I had to ask for straws for the table 3 times Before he brought them. The food came out after us sittingthere for 1 hour and 20 mins when it came out my son steak was over cooked so was mine. We sent it back and they brought it out a second time undercooked basically raw. My son at this point got frustrated and left. To make the situation worse the policy is to add gratuity's to party of 6 or more which we were not and the manager automatically anyway because I believe did such a horrible job it was intentional. Nothing was comp just a sorry for a bill over $500. Very unacceptable will definitely tell people I know never to come here. read more

Made a reservation for an outside table, but were instead seated at an interior table in a very dark section of the restaurant. Ordered a variety of food, most of which was very good. The New York strip that I received was cooked to the correct temperature but was still very chewy/dry. Very disappointing. The ambiance, the food & the service provided by Ian were all exceptional. We are a party of 5 adults and 5 kids and everyone had a great time. We made reservation and received text when our table was ready and our party were seated promptly in a private room with sliding door when we arrive so that was a huge plus. Ian was knowledgeable of the menu, recommended a few things such as lamb and Mahi Mahi that weren't on the menu (we ordered that and they were great!). Food did take awhile to come out but the kids meals came out first so no complaint on that part. Ian came and check on us often and kept us updated with the progress of everything and was patient with all the requests for pictures. Dessert (crème brûlée and the s'more sundae) were amazing! The good. Our server Ian did a nice job. The food was bad. Most of it was lukewarm at best. The only item any one in our group actually enjoyed was the lobster bisque. Our baked potato was so cold we couldn't get any butter to spread or melt into it. The prices are similar to Trulucks but the quality was much less than Texas Roadmhouse. read more
