    Cheese Omelette

Delightful breakfast delivered at ma maison this morning! Cheese omelette did not skimp on cheese and the home fries were spot on. The Special Croissant Sandwich was perfectly layered with ham, cheese, and egg. The sausage links were plump and yummy. Got this via delivery so no details on the restaurant. Will definitely order again.

I stopped in here randomly when I could not park in downtown Coatsville due to the police "no parking" signs. I totally like metallic diners. When I entered to restaurant, I sat in the oldest portion at the counter around lots of metal. My server was friendly, and she suggested breakfast items. I ordered blueberry pancakes and scrapple. They were great. The pancakes were so big, and slightly smaller than my head. I had only one.

I was quite surprised to wait 10 minutes to be greeted, another 15 minutes to take my order and another 30 minutes for my omelette. If it was slammed with people I'd understand. There was less that 20 people in the diner, I now know why. This used to be a great spot pre COVID. So sad

Old school diners have a special place in my heart and Double D is no exception. Maybe it's the liver special....just kidding, Just the thought of liver alone sends goosebumps down my arms! I stopped in the other night in a cold rainy evening with a coworker as we were both craving a nice crock of French onion soup! The broth wasn't as flavorful as the typical French onion but it was okay. There was a perfect amount of cheese and the sautéed onions did have solid flavor. I also ordered a house salad with Italian and ranch dressing on the side. Their ranch is homemade and it was delicious. This may sound simple, but I could write a solid 8-10 page paper on the variance that I've had through my years. Anyway, I digress. The ranch is great and my salad was fresh and full of crisp vegetables. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant was super clean and prices were fair. While I don't think I'd order the soup again I'd return to try some of their breakfast items.

Old school type diner with lots of seating, on this visit it was quite empty. Friendly service, and reasonable prices, food was typical diner food. On this day ordered turkey club sandwich & double d chicken sandwich which were ok, also saw a salad/soup bar but didnt choose that option. Maybe I will come back to try one of the breakfast specials.

Fast service but mediocre food. Home fries were unevenly cooked and eggs were slimy.

Food is great.... but sometimes the servers are sketchy. So is the parking! But honestly amazing breakfast and take out is always on point.

Great family style restaurant/diner. The fried 1/2 chicken is especially good.h29vr7slu

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.
