I came by to do an online take out order of garlic fries & fish burger. It was packed and ready when I arrived. Tons of ketchup packets with the garlic fries. It was surprisingly delicious! I did not care much for the fish burger. It was two fish strips in the burger which made it hard to eat (maybe a fish sandwich with a long bun would be better for this?). Seems to have lots of batter and not much fish plus very bland. I would order something else here besides the fish burger..

This place has the nicest burgers that I've seen in a small destination sit down. It's limited seating but very intimate if you want support small business, this is one of those places you might want to consider. Everything is fresh on site. My tater tots were freshly fried super crispy delicious. And I just ordered a single cheeseburger and it was absolutely great. There's something about a good hot grill that just makes a burger so fantastic. The bun was fresh and soft and very light and really accented this burger. Very affordable for those on a budget. They serve it up quick no nonsense very down to earth and actually took a friend here and he actually enjoyed it and felt he was taken out to a nice restaurant. So it is no frills but sometimes that's what makes this place so special.

I got a double decker with mushrooms, and some garlic fries. Delicious!! No complaints whatsoever! The garlic fries are just like the ballpark. Crispy, garlicky and seasoned with just enough salt. The burger was juicy, seasoned perfectly. Fresh veggies in the burger as well. Service was polite, and food was made quickly, or at least faster than I expected it to be made. It's a little place so seating is bare minimum.

This is a workplace staple if you're looking for a quick burger. A standard burger is about $10 and you can do add-ons like avocado, mushrooms, cheese, or jalapenos for about $1 per. I usually opt for the western because it comes with bacon and bbq sauce. The potato buns are soft and you can request how done you would like your burger. I also like to get a side of garlic fries as well. Besides burgers they also make really good Buffalo chicken wings. Neighborhood favorite, but they do sometimes mess up on orders, at least when I used to work closer 2 years ago. But glad to see they made it through the pandemic.

I tried their Classic burger yesterday. Omg, I was blown away! The burger was SO juicy and delicious. Angus beef on a toasted brioche bun - what more could you ask for? My son kept sneaking pieces of my burger so next time he needs his own burger. We will definitely be back! And the prices are affordable, not overpriced.

My hubby and I both love Double Decker. I really love their namesake burger made from Niman Ranch beef, topped with cheddar and Swiss cheese. Goes amazingly well with fries or my favorite, onion rings. We stumbled into this little joint with the hideaway upstairs sitting years ago when we went to City Hall to file for our marriage certificate, and to meet one of his BFF who worked at City Hall. So this place held a lot of memories for us. At the time, we came here because we didn't know much about the Hayes Valley area. Little did we know I would be working nearby a few short years after that and eating around there. The owner and staff are always friendly and accommodating. Great vibes.

Not sure why people are judging based on Keith Lee's review solely, but this place is pretty nice if you're looking for a quick meal. I went here for the first time with a friend, the man behind the counter was kind and service was quick. The restaurant is definitely casual and no-frills, but clean and homey. The burger I had was the Double Decker burger, it was very filling, yummy, and worth the 10.95! The garlic fries were also very good and I would definitely come back again. :-)

Stopped here to get a fried chicken burger to go before I saw Madam Butterfly at San Francisco opera at 2 pm (about a nine minute walk) Ordered at 12:32 and it was ready at 12:46. I liked it It was busy on a Sunday, but they are fast. And cook it fresh. Ordered takeout from Double Decker and it was ready on time with no waiting in line to pick up! The garlic fries are so flavorful and I could smell them through the bag AND through my mask. I have no complaints the young lady is always very kind and very nice. I don't eat meat and really like the veggie burger at this place. They have both an impossible patty and regular veggie burger. I don't like the fake meats, and it's nice they offer both versions. The veggie burger is not the typical Gardenburger or Morning Star brand. There are pieces of corn and other great flavors in the patty. I ordered the cheeseburger with extra tomato and added mushrooms. (Mushrooms were not necessary - they were lost in all the other flavors.) I believe they use Artesano brioche bread buns, which are always fresh and nicely toasted. This is a very casual spot without any frills, but very reasonably priced and good food. I've always had good service and never have they made a mistake with my order. read more

This is a cozy little burger place that is deceptively bigger than it seems. Apparently there is more seating upstairs but you have to go through a hidden passage way. I opted for takeout. Their burger is super juicy and the fries are deliciously crispy. Good rec from my coworker for sure! I was so excited to check out the hype that I almost got ran over by a bicyclist! Be sure to look out for those damn idiots that ride on the pedestrian sidewalk. Food is fine but when I went to pay the cashier turned the Sqaure register screen around when it came around to tip and selected my tip for me before I could get to it, as if to hide what just came up on the screen. this restaurant should be closed. a burger takes 40 minutes and tastes like charcoal when it finally comes out. I was brought garlic fries instead of curly fries due to a language barrier. the environment is dirty and unpleasant. i would only go here if it was the only restaurant open in the city. read more

Ordered: 1 double with mushrooms, medium rare 1 western, medium rare 1 original cheese, medium rare 1 large onion ring Got 3 burgers cooked well done and dry. Couldn't taste the patties because their were bland as bland can be. The large onion rings were a complete joke. If that was a large I don't even want to imagine what a small would look like. Pretty basic family run burger place. I like that they have a veggie patty as well as the "Impossible" Vegan patty. The burgers come with a side of fries. I had ordered ahead and asked for no cheese and no Mayo. But the burger still had Mayo in it. Its good for a quick meal sometimes. read more

It's convenitly located on the first floor right inside the window, so you can miss it. There were a couple other food vendors down there, including a full bar, and they were playing some World Cuo matches, which was a nice touch. Making a burger choice was tough, but I went with the double OG, which did not let me down. The lace was crispy, and the flavor combination of the ingredients was perfect. It was a top smash burger in the bay, and I'd def go again if in the area.

I also enjoyed the crunch from the cabbage and the softness of the flour tortilla. I paired with it the fried Brussels sprouts to get another veggie into my meal. Though I do love very charred sprouts, there was a hint of bitterness. I may have needed more lime to cut that. The jalapeño mayo was good. But I think tossing it in pork fat is the way to go with Brussels sprouts to really pump up the flavor. I'm not sure what oil they fry it in. I think I'll stick to their sweet potato fries, which never disappoints. It's always busy there, but it's never too difficult to find a place to sit. It's shared seating, with long tables inside and large tables outside. But my friend and I took it to go so we can have dinner with the show. And the timing was perfect - we didn't wait too long to get our order and we arrived about 20mins before the band started. DOUBLE DECKER!!!! :). We are constantly looking for the best place to eat... for CHICKEN WINGS. Then, we came across Double Decker. From the outside, it looks like a small restaurant. It totally threw us off that it was attached to 'Days Inn'.. "hmmmm!!!??" The first time we went, we weren't quite sure what to order.... I mean... why, chicken wings.. of course! We ordered a buffalo dozen of half mild and half hot, along with side orders of chips and garlic fries.... MILD & HOT: These wings are deliciously perfect. They separate them by little red baskets.. They are CRISPY and tastes just right. Mild was perfectly mild, hot was perfectly hot.. and not too hot... because if you want too hot, there is INFERNO (but that's another story...) CHIPS: Let these chips cool down for a bit, and they are sooo sooo crispy. I've never really had chips that are made like that, except for chips we buy at a store :). Double Decker chips over Lay's Chips any day! GARLIC FRIES: I don't know if it was a bad experience overall for these fries, or I just came in the wrong day for them (meaning the guy made it bad =( ). They weren't too garlic-y, but they were sort of burnt. You can't really taste this at all... it's just 'okay'. What I love though, is that they give you a basket of celery and ranch to cool down while having those deeeelicious wings!! ....then day 2 (a week later..) We went back with some friends to have more wings, and this time we tried the INFERNO along with the mild & hot. We order a whole bucket (50).. except we only ordered 4 inferno.. (we weren't sure if we could handle it yet!). Inferno... it really takes your taste bud out for a ride. First bite - sourrrrr.......... 2nd bite - comes the hot hot hot hot hotness... then give it a few seconds... OOMMMGGGGG! ITS GOOD, if you can take it... but its not something we could order a whole dozen of!! We have had hotter wings, but these really are hot!!!!! So anyways.... we really enjoy Double Decker. Parking is easy, based on both experience.. we parked at Day's Inn the first time, and didn't know we couldn't.. but we easily got away with it anyway :). The price is GREAT.. and from my memory.. I think Monday-Friday from 3-6 is HAPPY HOUR.. which you get a whole buffalo dozen, sides, or tap beer for HALF off!!!!! WHAT A DEAL! Then I forgot which day, but there is a day where it's all you can eat wings for about $11 a person. Didnt want to go out to eat, but didnt feel like pizza or chinese & found this place on yelp. I was super excited to have burgers delivered :) The burgers were SUPER yummy, and the service was quick & prices pretty reasonable for the quality of burger & the fact that they delivered. I took 1 star off because the fries were pretty disappointing. They were luke-warm, and a bit too hard, and I could totally taste the grease it was cooked in....I ate them anyway, because I was hungry but made sure to use a great deal of ketchup to cover up the grease "flavor". I think next time I'll try ordering something else as a side...I think they also have garlic fries. But I'm still a fan cuz the burger was awesome & I'm def interested in trying the wings at some point. read more

I only had about 15 minutes before a show at the Herbst Theatre, but I needed some food. I immediately thought of Double Decker. During the 5 minute walk from the Herbst, I tried to call in my order -- if they'd answered the phone, I might've been able to order a burger or something. As it was, I only had time to order a side of french fries. I'm not going to ding them a star for not answering the phone, though -- those fries were PERFECT. Delicious. Outstanding. Maybe the best fries I've had in San Francisco. Thick, fresh and hot, they were similar to -- but slightly better than, IMHO -- the Belgian pommes frites I've had at Fritz. We have been here too many times not to review it. Their wings are allll fresh.. and all you can eat wednesdays are the best. Their burgers aren't bad either, but I've only tried it once. We've been here so many times that the owners know us. Inferno is recommended only if you can take on the heat.. it is pretty damn spicy. They have such a large menu for such a small restaurant, which is pretty neat. There is downstairs, upstairs, and oustide seating. We always sit upstairs, where theres a flat screen. Service is great and they really accomodate to your needs. The food gets to us really fast too. I really recommend the chips here too. They're crisp, thin, and deliciuos. Best buffalo wings and chicken sandwich I've had so far. My favorite hot wings are to die for. They're the perfect size, enough to soak in the buffalo sauce. I hate wings that are too big, they don't taste as good. Big is not always better! I've tried chicken sandwiches from other places around the financial district and they usually tend to be on the dry side. My favorite at DD is the Cali and buffalo chicken. Cooked to perfection and not dry at all. What would a burger be w/o crispy garlic fries?! Still my all-time fave side. They taste better than the AT&T ballpark ones from Gordon Biersch. Let me tell you a secret. I love a chicken wing so much that's why I'd love to go to a place like this! Sometimes I was a bit lazy to cook for chicken and craving for chicken wings of double Decker I prefer to call for a delivery. Whenever I get hungry I used to call on them for a delivery. Sometimes I was a bit irritated for they are not so fast in terms of delivery but I always have my patience to wait for my favorite chicken wings. I don't really appreciate their service especially on taking their orders over the phone but it is okay for as long as I have to wait for my buffalo wings. I just hope that whatever I wrote here could help to improve their usual performance and services. read more

I ate there 2 times. 1st- I got the buffalo burger with the tater tots, mid way through the night I was practically unable to leave the bathroom. I was so sick!! I decided to give another try a couple weeks later thinking maybe it was not them but was something else.... Well guess what, ordered another burger and tots and was even sicker that time. The tots were rotten even, if you've ever tasted expired potatoes you know the taste I'm talking about. This place is absolutely horrendous and obviously no quality control. read more

I haven't had buffalo wings in a long time and having buffalo wings yesterday here at double deckers was a real blast. I have to mention the burgers which quite awesome because mine was servred fresh, hot and delicious . Burgers are the bomb! Garlic fries were good, fresh, crisp and hot, ranch dressing and blue cheese dressing really hit the spot. What is a double decker? Do they have any food based on that name? If you want a super delicious Acai Bowl this is the place to go! They also have poke bowls and juices as well. I tried "these nuts" Acai bowl and it was so good! I really liked how it wasn't super sweet but all the flavors were still there. I went there again today for the "Original Gangster" and I love it! It truly does have everything in an OG Acai Bowl! The hot wings was awsome. Not sure what kind of hot sauce they used but it was addicting. However, the milkshake needs a little work: less milk and larger cups. This is by far one of the best places in the city to go for buffalo wings. I'm from the midwest and LOVE buffalo wings. I've had every kind, even all the flavors and BW3, and these are the best wings you can get in the city. The rest of the food is pretty good, especially the homemade chips, but if you are going to go, definitely order the wings. read more

I effin love double decker. I'd compare the quality to that of Pearl's which is a big compliment in my opinion. Can't go wrong with any of these burgers and sweet potato fries are always good. These wings are pretty good for a reasonable price. They also include the ranch dipping sauce (some places arent doing that any more). I'd say this is a good everyday wings spot versus the new place wings wings, which is pretty good wings but its a "fancy priced wing place" and they also charge you for the ranch. read more

A real hamburger, with taste and fat and chubby fries. They demand quality products, fresh. No disappointment on arrival with the impression of not being passed next to a "trick" nice despite the early tail. Freshly ground coffee and sweet potato fries are great! Friendly staff, and you can choose a patty out of 5-6 choices (different types of meat, impossible burger, veggie). I got hawaiian burger with veggie patty, I liked it. I'm going back here again to try more things menu! read more

After not having wings for a while, we went to Double Decker and were extremely happy with the food. The wings here are super meaty and the taste of the sauce was amazing! I would come back every week if I lived in San Francisco. read more
