Me and the wife went for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We both got the prime ribeye with loaded bake tater, Mexican street corn, bottomless Lexingtonian salad and lemon Parmesan Broccoli. Mexican street corn- delicious! Wife thought it was too spicy for her. Loaded tater- had sour cream, chives, bacon, butter. Absolutely delicious and no salt needed. lexingtonian Salad- had iceberg, and Romain Lettuce. It also had real fried up bacon and tomatoes in it with ranch! 100/10 Now for the main prize the Prime Ribeye!! Ribeye was 16oz boneless. Cooked to medium rare! I treated myself to a solo lunch today. I was greeted warmly when I walked into Malone's. I love the warm lighting and the dark wood decor. Ryan was my wait person and he was wonderful. He was quick to bring a loaf of crusty warm bread with herb butter to my table. For my lunch, I chose the 4.5 oz filet with blackened shrimp. It came with the Lexingtonian (romaine, bacon, tomato and fresh herb creamy dressing) salad and a side. I had the broccoli. Everything was delicious. Service and food is really good. That's the good. The bad is they keep raising prices to the point its becoming over the top. If you're going to charge these prices, at least have the good sense to play grown up music, and not the gangsta rap. Your clientele are middle age/older. PLAY grownup music. Also, your Bloody Mary is blah at best. You charge $14 for your Bloody Mary. That would be perfectly fine if it was anything special. It's not. Carson's has a millions times better Bloody Mary for the same price. As does OBC, Bear and the Butcher, and numerous other places. You should have a fantastic Bloody Mary, but it's very average, and that's being kind. read more

This place was fantastic! I was skeptical about going to a seafood restaurant in Kentucky, but it was really good. We had a reservation for 20, so 2 large tables. They had bread and water set out when we got there. They were on top of it! I ordered the Kentucky lady cocktail, which was fantastic. For my entree I went with the lump crab linguini and my god was that out of this world. The chunks of crab were not disappointing. Serving bottomless community salad was an interesting touch. I didn't have room for dessert, but I'm certain that would have been fantastic too. read more

My wife and I had an exceptional meal here during Lexington Restaurant Week 2025 in July. They offered a $49 three course meal which may not sound like much of a "special". But there was so much food! And it was all fantastic. That isn't always the case during a promotional week when prices are lower and traffic is higher. But Malone's is always busy so they can handle it. And handle it, they did. Standard size portions of the sushi roll, baked potato, steak, everything. No corners cut. See pics. And they do this everyday. We're regulars for a reason. It can be loud and crowded but still comfortable most times. A variety of seating options from bar to patio to dining room. And a menu with something for everyone. I'm not a fan of their burgers. I've tried several times and they just don't hit for me. But their fried shrimp is excellent. Steaks almost always on point. Loaded Baked Potatoes are the best. And the Lexingtonian Salad is awesome. read more

During Lexington's annual burger week we selected Malone's for one of our nights. Tried the French dip burger and it was all so good. Burger week burgers are just seven dollars. We added Malone's famous Lexington salad. The beer on tap was icy cold. Our server (Luke) did a nice job considering how busy the restaurant was for this mid week burger week dinner time slot. Parking on the other hand was a challenge. All of their lots were so full that we were forced to park across the road on side streets. Usually on our visit to Malone's Hamburg, we request a booth in the main bar area and enjoy people watching in that part of the restaurant. The attached restaurant called Harry's was also full and a bit more humid because of the outside window access. Malone's always does a fine meal we have been before we enjoyed our recent visit and we will return again. read more

She asked if we wanted to be seated right away, and I explained that we were waiting for the rest of our party since the host hadn't arrived yet. I did ask for a menu, but there appeared to be four or five different menus, which was confusing and not clearly explained at the door. Once our host arrived, we were seated. For anyone wondering about the atmosphere--it's casual and relaxed. Our server, Kelly (if I'm remembering her name correctly), was wonderful. She was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. She brought out our Smoked Chestnut Old Fashioned, along with the appetizers: spinach artichoke dip and carpaccio. Everything was delicious, and the cocktail was smooth, aromatic, and nicely balanced with a smoky finish. The bread service was also a nice touch. For my entrée, I ordered the 5 oz steak with crab and elote. The steak itself was cooked perfectly--right on temperature, tender, and flavorful. The elote was served separately in a white bowl, as shown in the photo, and was enjoyable on its own. What I didn't understand was the "crab" component, which turned out to be a deep-fried sushi roll. That pairing alongside a steak felt unexpected, and the overall plate composition and presentation didn't quite come together for me. That said, this may simply be a difference in perspective. I personally place a strong emphasis on plate presentation and cohesion, and Malone's may focus more on comfort and execution than visual refinement. Overall: Excellent service, a great cocktail, and a perfectly cooked steak. While the rest of the plate wasn't what I expected, the experience was still enjoyable. read more

Dinner with friends tonight and everything was fantastic. We started with the Sweet & Spicy Calamari and the Hot Baked Lump Crab Dip for our appetizers. For my drink, I had the Malone's Old Fashioned. They were so good, I had two. My entree was the Bluegrass chicken and bottomless Lexingtonian salad. For desserts, our table split the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake and the Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Place was packed on a Tuesday night... but we figured that because Keeneland races were in town. We sat in a booth that was borderline outside since the windows were open. Very cool open concept when its nice out. I tried the juicy lucy's sliders and the wings. The juicy lucy was in fact juicy. I thought a juicy lucy had cheese on the inside but didn't seem like this one did. The wings had a nice crunch to them. Flavor was spot on. Went here late on a Fri night for dinner. Ordered a bottle of the Petite La Grace pinot noir which was on the favorites section on the menu. Server was unable to find. Only then did he tell us to scan the QR code on the menu to get their full wine list. This should have been shared at the beginning plus it does not look good to have a stock out of a favorite wine. Most of Malone's menu isn't really my thing - I don't ever order steak, don't eat sushi and salads just aren't a go-to when I visit a restaurant. But they quite possibly have the best chicken tenders I've ever had and the portion sizes are enormous! Two people could have easily shared this meal. The seasoning they use is really flavorful- it definitely stands out and the ranch is also pretty fire. They have some great side options and make sure you also try the butter that comes with the bread they bring to the table. That stuff is amazing too! We had a large party to celebrate a birthday and our server was excellent, making sure she attended to everyone at the table. There are a couple locations in Lexington, so be sure to stop in if you're looking for good food! read more

Truly a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons. My sister-in-law made a reservation for the six of us several weeks prior. When we arrived a bit early, the hostess checked the reservation and said our table was ready now, which was a pleasant surprise. That's where the pleasant surprises ended. We didn't have a table. We had a booth. A booth for 6 adults. A booth that while generous for four (the way it was set up with place settings), was clearly not going to be comfortable or practical for six people. Additionally, my mother is recovering from a minor stroke and is using a cane. I didn't see how she was going to be able to get up into this booth (there is a bit of a step up) and what was she going to do with the cane she needs to use? When I balked at this seating situation and requested we be moved to a proper table, the hostess told us that "all of our tables are for reservations." Well, that's interesting but we have reservations too. Any reasonable person could tell this configuration was NOT going to work. But we were left in the booth. A few minutes later, a manager came over and asked if he could help... but he couldn't. There was a table that may be available soon in the adjoining restaurant. Or we could wait for a party to finish their dinner and then move. My Mom at this point just wanted to get on with it and though she was sitting there with a cane under the table between her knees, she didn't want to do a long walk to another restaurant. I was pretty unhappy but also just wanted to move on. Here's the thing about sitting 3-deep (on each side) in a booth... there is no way a server or busser can reach all the way to the end of the table. So my sister-in-law and I became the defacto assistant servers, reaching across the table to grab our own plates, drinks and pass off dirty plates (not optimum) that also contained cutlery that occasionally fell to the table and once directly into a bowl of salad. My dinner had been forgotten in the kitchen, so when the server went to fetch it from under the heat lamps, he had to hand off a very hot plate to me reaching across two people - no other way to deliver it. I guess if the food had been good, the aggravation with everything else would have been lessened. But it was not good. The much-lauded bread and butter was merely a baguette with some chive-flavored butter-like spread. The spread tasted very artificial and cheap. The "famous" house salad was watery and tasted only of old bacon. Of the four steaks ordered at our table, only one was cooked as requested. My medium-rare was more late medium. Others who ordered medium or medium well got a very pink center - more like medium rare. My small filet in the "Filet Combo" was not a quality cut of meat -- it was tough, chewy, and mostly tasteless. The crab rangoon roll alongside it could have been good but was undone by a cloyingly sweet sauce applied way too liberally. My parents both had fish and ate very little. My father proclaimed it "the worst piece of fish I've ever had". There were some basic hospitality blunders made here that should never have happened. Of course, we could have requested that we not be seated in a booth for six, but who on earth thinks that would even be an option? The manager could have sent over a small dessert or an appetizer by way of apology -- we did spend nearly $350 on the meal. That didn't happen. Still, the experience could have been somewhat salvaged if the food was worth it. It absolutely was not. read more

There are three bars, English pub style and then the main restaurant if there's anything as blue collar five star this is it. my wife and I had one of the best meals we've ever had in our lives and we've eaten everywhere in the United States. The service was spectacular. anyone who would give this place less than five stars doesn't know food and doesn't know service. it's not a Michelin five star. It's what I call a blue color five star. While the food and drinks were excellent, this review in simply regarding the hostess...Sophia. She deserves her own review which directly affects the restaurant. We were in KY this week to visit the Ark Encounter. While there, we drove south to Red River Gorge to hike on two different days. After one day of hiking and en route back to Williamstown, we wanted a really good steak meal. We googled restaurants and decided to stop at Malones in Lexington based off good reviews. This was Sunday (7/21/24) late afternoon. Sophia, the hostess, was at the front. I asked for a table of 3. She asks if we would like Harry's or Malone's. I asked "What is Harry's?" She said "Harry's is seat yourself, no reservations required. Malones is more upscale." I thought wow, is she judging us based off the way we were dressed?! I replied with we definitely want Malones. I excused us before being seated so we could wash our hands. When we came back from the restroom I approached Sophie at the hostess desk. Three elderly people had just walked in so she grabbed three menus and walked them to their table. Sophie comes back and stares at the table chart for a good minute. A minute does not seem long but when you are standing there looking at a hostess who does not acknowledge you and stares at a seating chart for 1 minute is ridiculous. Not one smile from her. Not "one moment please." Nothing. Just silence. My husband was standing off to the side with our young son and noticed the hostess stalling. He looks over and asks "Is there a problem?!" Sophia has the worst customer service ever! I felt like we were not "good enough" to eat in the Malones establishment. Yet, we live in Naples, FL and pay over $200+ every time we eat out, which is often. Of course we can afford a steak restaurant in Lexington, KY. Maybe she had a bad day? Who knows. But feeling like I was being judged, I can say I finally understand what discrimination feels like. Sophie needs to be terminated or placed in the back of the restaurant where she is not in contact with customers. We have always loved Malone's! We love the atmosphere and food but they've changed the menu and took away our favorite items. I really miss the maple bacon chicken with sweet potato mash and the sweet potato casserole side dish. It was my favorite entree ever! I tried the bluegrass chicken and it's just not that good. Let me start by saying the food was okay, but only just okay. The rest of this review is about poor training and service, which is purely laziness and lack of proper management by this restaurant. I have a factory in the area, so I come here quite often and it's typically decent. The food and drinks at this place are not cheap, but I'm fine with that if the service and food are above average. The food tonight was reasonable, but given the prices and what this restaurant claims to offer, the rest was really poor. Let me preface this by saying I used to be a server at a mid-to-high grade restaurant through college. I understand the service industry. The service was so bad that I had to get up from the table on 2 occasions to get routine things sorted. Our server was so lazy that the whole table was talking about it all night. - When we were ordering drinks, nearly all of the draft beers had "rotating" listed as specific beer from various breweries. I asked what the selection was from 3 Floyds. She replied, "I'm not sure. I haven't worked here in a while. I'll have to check. Do you want me to check?" Um....yes. - My guest (who was a VP and paid for dinner) was sitting next to me and he wanted a lager. I asked the server what beers from the rotating taps were lagers? She just stood there and said she wasn't sure. She didn't move an inch. I told her we wanted a lager. She just stared at me and said she wasn't sure what lagers were on tap. It was super awkward. - The wine we ordered wasn't available, so we had to get on the app and see what we could order. We purchased 3 or 4 bottles of a pretty nice bottles of red throughout the night. Point being....we ordered a lot of wine and it wasn't cheap. - When the wine glasses came to the table for our party of 6, our server stood at the end of the table and passed them to one person to pass them around to the rest of the table. Lazy and awkward. - When the wine was left at the table, all three bottles, our server poured the wine at the end of the table only and we had to pass the bottle around to pour the rest of our drinks. Lazy and awkward. Actually, this is ridiculous for a restaurant of this caliber. There was plenty of room to maneuver around our table. - Most of us had steak. Steak knives were brought to the table wrapped in a napkin and were handed to me. I had to pass them around to the table. This is getting really bad at this point. - The bread, which no one touched, remained on the table for the entire night until I asked specifically for it to be removed. We had to stack used salad plates, used salad serving bowls, and silverware to be removed. Lazy and awkward. - When we finished our food, we had to ask for plates to be taken away. In fact, the table was set for 8 people, not 6. The extra 2 settings remained at the table for the whole service. The table was crowded and empty items were never removed until I got up to find someone. - Our server left the bill with me before we were done enjoying wine. We wanted another bottle. I had to flag her down as she was sitting at an empty table with another server to bring us another bottle and add it to our bill. She wasn't working, only talking to someone. The table will wasn't cleared at this point. Again, we poured this wine ourselves. - Even after I found a manager to have the table cleared because we were sitting there drinking wine, the table still wasn't all the way cleared. We left one dinner plate full of uneaten food on the bar that was adjacent to our table. That plate sat on the end of the bar for over an hour and half. It remained there as we were leaving at 9:30pm. Please, Malone's management, train your people to handle their jobs in a semi-professional way. The manager, or at least some guy who had an earpiece in his ear and was dressed in a tie, was standing no less than 10 feet from our table for most of the night and apparently didn't notice anything that was going on at our table. I'm not sure how that is even possible. I was very disappointed with Malone's this evening. Service has to be better for the prices being charged at this restaurant. read more

Malone's is located in the Hamburg shopping district, right off the interstate, bringing in a lot of travelers passing through. So take the time and call ahead or download the Open Table App and make reservations. The restaurant has candid decor, with brownstone furniture and soothing lighting. There is a bar side, Harry's, and the dining side. I was looking for some specials when I walked in but didn't see any so make sure you ask your server. Speaking of servers, we had the best. Dean gave us his undivided attention and offered us all information about the established, what was good, and specials and kept "classy." I noticed this was the standard with all the servers at Malone's, so customer service is 5 stars. We had no problem tipping $100 after the meal. Speaking of tipping, tip with cash, not on the bill with the card. Tipping to your card is taxed, and what you think is going to the server will go ole Uncle Sam, so use cash when you can; our server explained that to us, which was greatly appreciated. Now, the food. I'll say this: AMAZING! Everything was cooked to perfection. Steaks are cooked to a proper degree of doneness that is expected. Various sides are available and they highlight local specials that give Malones its own Kentucky uniqueness. An expanded dessert selection for those with a sweet tooth highlights specialties made right in Kentucky. Parking is tight, so if you can come in a group.
