We were in town for Scarefest and wanted to find a new restaurant, and after checking around we found Drake's. We walked in and although they were busy, we were seated right away. It was chilly outside so it was a nice surprise when the young lady asked if we wanted to sit by the fireplace. Yes, please!! It was so comfy and warm right there. Our waitress came right over and was so sweet and attentive. I ordered their morning glory burger with the salsa on the side and a salad, and the hubby ordered a cheeseburger with fries. The wait was short and the food was excellent! They forgot to put the salsa on the side for my burger, but it was very good anyway. I'm really starting to enjoy burgers with eggs on them. The salad was enormous! I thought they made a mistake and brought me a $10.00 salad, but no. It was so huge I couldn't finish it, which was a shame because it was so delicious. My hubby said that his was the best burger he's had in a very long time. We were able to leave quickly after finishing our meal since the waitresses carry portable card readers with them and they check you out right at the table which is so very convenient. First time at this location. Came on an NFL football Sunday afternoon after hitting Keeneland. I thought the parking situation was super confusing. Do they really need six parking spots in the adjacent lot dedicated to take out? Upon arrival, there was a sign directing us to choose our own seating. There was a decent crowd, but the place was not packed. We sat near the bar. We waited a pretty good amount of time before anyone touched our table. For that reason I deducted one star from the review. The food was very good. The crab Rangoon roll hit the spot. Fried pickles were a very generous portion. My wife and I went here Monday night. Nice place. Hostess seated us at a booth for four and our waiter took our order quickly. She had a Chardonnay and I had a tea. We ordered the pretzels with two sauces (Cheese and the Mustard sauce). The pretzels were good, especially with the cheese sauce. The mustard was just plain yellow mustard and didn't do anything for us. She orered the salmon with broccoli and I ordered the Patty Melt with sweet potato fries. My Patty Melt was good. Burger was done perfectly and had a crisp outside to it. The potatoes were excellent. My wife asked for a sauce for the salmon when she got it because it looked dry. After taking the first bite she was surprised it was not dry, but moist and very good. The broccoli was also cooked perfectly. Waiter was good and checked on us throughout the meal.. Great place. We have always loved Drakes. Convenient location, fun ambiance and good service. Food was always good with in-restaurant dining. Take out has been a different story. We get take out around 2-3 times a month. Lately there has been so much inconsistency from missing salmon, salad dressing, cheese dip for pretzels and tater tots to being given someone else's order. I have also received raw salmon. Today we got take out again. This was around 6pm so not near closing time. Ordered the buffalo dip and it was completely inedible. Wasn't a dip but a hot clump of cheese swimming in grease. Tried to heat up a little more in the microwave and still a greasy clump. Had the same dip last week and it was perfect and reheated well the next day. I did call when we got someone else's order and another time when the salmon was missing for a salad. Spoke to the manager who said it had been a busy night and she found our order and the missing salmon if we wanted to come and get it. That was a big no for us. I will say that she gave us a refund. Even with that there have too many issues with orders lately. I'm not sure what is happening at Drakes Hamburg location but the take out option is hit or miss and would not recommend. read more

Let me start by saying I've been coming to Lexington 3 days per week for the last 4 weeks (and have 2 more weeks to go) for my job to do employee training for my company. Our hotel is near Drake's on Pleasant Ridge (Hamburg). I really like the Drake's BLT w/ an egg and have consistently been eating my dinner here these past few weeks. Everything has been very good - until tonight. My server tonight was Rebekah. While she was pleasant enough and the food was good, I have not felt being this rushed to wrap up and get out this badly in a restaurant in a long time. I came in at about 8:30 PM. Two people at the bar and a table of four on the patio. That was it. It was a slow night. I ordered my food and drink from the bar. (Was never asked if I wanted another drink, btw.) As I finished my BLT, Rebekah placed the check down as I finished my last bite. Every other visit the server always wanted to know if I wanted anything else. I told her I wanted to get the Cookie a la Mode. She took the check back and brought the cookie out AND the updated check. Halfway through the cookie, she came back to the table with the handheld POS unit and just stood there. After several awkward moments of silence (as I had no idea why she was standing there) she said "Are you going to use ApplePay"? Mind you - I was still eating. I was NOT done. But I guess she decided I was done and it was time to pay. Was her shift over? Did she have more important stuff to do? I paid and never saw her again. I didn't see her cleaning or doing any pre-close work. I walked out the door at 9:10 PM - 50 minutes before Drake's closes. I've got five more nights I'll be in town for training. Look like I'll be trying Double Dogs, El Mariachi's, or Malone's. - - - - - - - - - ADDED - - - - - - - - - Thanks - but I don't leave reviews to get freebies, gift cards, etc. I leave them to left businesses know where they are falling down and to make others aware. So I won't be filling out that form. I decided to give Drake's another chance and came back about 8:20 PM on May 19. Sat in the exact same spot on the patio. There were about 3 other tables seated there. I sat there for 5 minutes and no one came up. Then a couple was seated at a table near me. Still no one approached me. Then another couple was seated at a second table. Still no service for me. Then a server (woman with tattoos on her legs) took the drink order of the first couple seated after me. Then a few minutes later, another female server took the drinks order of the second couple seated after me. Still no service for me. There was a third server at the far end of the patio and she was standing at the far end of the patio chatting with another couple. After about 5 minutes more I got up and left. I guess I can't complain about the service this time, as I didn't get any. Dropped the review from two stars to one star. I won't be back. The ironic thing is I have been coming to Lexington over several weeks to teach advanced customer service and management to our management teams. read more

We were driving from Atlanta Cincinnati and were looking for a place to stop for dinner and to watch college football. Drake's was perfect! We enjoyed patty melts and beer at the bar. Delicious melts and lots of beers on tap!! Pro tip, there are 2 big bars, as well as tables available. It is a huge place. The servers and bartenders are SUPER NICE!! UPDATE: Although Becky U. from customer service asked me to share my contact info via the link so that someone could contact me, the link is not functional. I did submit my info via the company website, but I have yet to hear from anyone about the experience we had. Overall, our first visit will be our last. We stayed in Lexington for what was supposed to be the first night of our anniversary trip and walked from our hotel to Drake's for drinks. Although the bar selection was nice and seasonal drinks refreshing, our visit to Drake's marked the end of our trip because my wallet was stolen out of my purse during our visit. Came here on a Thursday night and sat at the bar. It took a few minutes for someone to greet us at the bar as a few employees were sitting enjoying their conversation and some snacks, a bartender finally came and asked me very blankly what I wanted to drink. I responded by asking how she was doing because that's how I was taught a proper greeting. Needless to say my expectations on the service we were about to receive was low. Bartender never gave any enthusiasm throughout our service but she was attentive and we got exactly what we ordered. So maybe just not a warm person? Our buffalo dip was really good. This is your go to for late night food in Lexington. Most places after Covid close really early but they stay open kinda late considering. I do recommend you call to check hours before making the trip. The kitchen closes 1 hour before official close also. Food and service is good as is most all the Bluegrass Hospitality Group restaurants. The only reason I'm leaving 3 stars is the portion sizing on some things is extremely small for the price they are charging. One example is fries. Fries cost you very little. I love it so much I can't bring myself to try anything else. They are consistent every single time - like, you just know what to expect! Pulled up around 6:15 PM, and the wait was barely 5-10 minutes - no complaints here! Bailey was our server, and let me tell you, she crushed it. Super attentive from the jump, even gave us a heads-up she was about to handle a large party (seemed like 15-20 adults), and she still made sure we were good the whole time. It was a nice night so all outdoor seating was full. We managed to grab a spot at the bar. We were the only people seated on our side as the other stools had been removed to enforce distancing. The tables were spread out well and I felt comfortable dining there. Staff wore masks, but no one had on gloves. I ordered the burger week feature and I was not disappointed. I'm not much of a Mayo person, but the bbq Mayo was surprisingly good. (No substitutions/alterations allowed on the featured burger). We were looking for some late food on a Friday night and the kitchen and this location popped up as on option. They have a great beer selection. When asking our server about the options she had real opinions about the tastes of the beer. We decided on "junk food" ad went with the BLT Tots, Pot stickers and the Quesadilla. It was a great decision! The Tots were my least favorite and they were great. Perfectly crispy potato and LT on top with creamy dressing. We had the pork pot stickers and they were golden fried and delicious, the spicy dipping sauce was great. But the best thing was the quesadilla, lets face the facts that we have all eaten a ton of quesadilla's at this point. But these were on point! The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender the peppers and onions were flavorful but not overcooked. Our server said you will love these and she was not wrong.
