My husband and I wanted to to ski and snowboard on June Mountain, and this was a great spot to stay for our weekend getaway. With cabin style lodging, this was located next to beautiful views of the mountains. The rooms were cute and cozy. The bathrooms were large with a shower and a bathtub. There was also a spa and fitness center, which included a gym with plenty of equipment, pool, and jacuzzi. There was a restaurant on the grounds that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we didn't get to try it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return here for lodging that is clean and comfortable. read more

What a beautifully picturesque resort, tucked into the mountains of June Lake, California. I had never been to -- or heard of, for that matter -- June Lake, until my husband's colleague mentioned that, at June Mountain, kids ski free! So, my husband immediately started the research for a local hotel and FOUND THIS GEM OF A RESORT!!! Our room is/was clean and spacious, the bathtub has functioning jets, and the view of the (frozen) pond from our balcony is worth the price of our long weekend stay. We made our annual trip to Double Eagle earlier this month. The cabins are great! Clean, well stocked with everything you need. A few areas that need improvement: - front desk staff doesn't answer the phone. We called and were not able to reach anyone. - ceiling fans are desperately needed in the cabin bedrooms! - one of the main reasons we stay here is the restaurant, which took a dramatic downhill turn since last year. On our last stay in the loop we spent over 900.00 in 45 days at the Double Eagle. We often went here and ate amazing pub food, fish & chips nachos, fish tacos in the bar area. We went for the first and definitely LAST time this season. The new owners have changed the menu and the food was terrible and the service even worse. We had the worst server Caroline we have ever experienced. She walked up to the table and asked if we were ready to order. No cocktails or drinks offered. Returned with three appetizers and left. No plates or any utensils. No drinks. I had to call her over after ten minutes and ask for both. When she brought the entrees, I bused the table myself and had to go look for utensils for two people in our six party so they could eat. One person asked for a water and she finally returned and slammed it on the table. She had zero eye contact with us and never spoke to us again. It was seriously the most bizarre experience. The new owners need to hire or train servers better. The menu needs to go back to the food selection and quality it was prior. Rubber chicken wings, scorched cheese burgers and pink fish tacos are not the answer. read more

Here's the biggest problem with all of this. When we checked into our room and a blood stain was found on sheets that obviously looked used, a simple call from the manager to check in and talk about it would've meant a lot. No call. Even when I called three or four times. That manager NEEDS to be fired. How can we conduct customer service like this. It's outrageous. I rarely leave a bad review but the customer service from the manager is unacceptable. The property is in a beautiful locale with great people. Too bad the administration don't care about their job or guests. Shame on whoever manages this property. They should be fired and if they are not it's politics as usual by the owners or unions or whoever protects such poor employees. I've posted pics of the blood on the sheets. We went here this winter! We desired to extend our vacation for a couple days! Best decision ever! The service from the first step till check out was amazing) Spa with pool just beyond the 5 stats rating. Ow was surprisingly professional, when you keep in mind that you deeply inside mountains) The house with real wood fireplace is great, food in the restaurant is delicious and the area around is super neat. Basically one of the best resorts in Mamoth Area. They have their own lifts in June mountains ( some days kids go free, so check their schedule). The resort is pretty as it has a nice pond and the grounds are nice. The main problem with this place is that it is understaffed. We stayed on the 2nd floor in one of the rooms and we had a frightening experience as the guest below us started banging on the ceiling and eventually came up to our door telling us we can walk in our room because it was to loud for them. We tried calling the front desk and emergency after hours number but nobody answered. My children were extremely frightened and they wouldn't leave the bed to use the restroom as they were afraid this guest would come back and hurt them. read more

We are a 5th generation family that vacations at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop. I've been vacationing here my whole married life and love the peaceful beauty of this area. This was my first time renting cabins for my family at the Double Eagel Resort. The Double Eagel is the highest quality resort in this area and its pet friendly too. The June Lake Loop is extremely short on accommodations for people traveling with pets. So hurray for pet friendly Double Eagel!!! CHECK-IN; I had called to confirm my reservations a few days before check-in and told the sweet lady on the phone that we would probably arrive early because of our drive. She said no problem. We got to the Double Eagel at about 1:45. She said she'd call us when the cabins were ready. So we went to the Silver Lake Resort store and we got the call 15 minutes later that the cabins were ready. Way to go Housekeeping!!!! The lady at Check-in was informative & efficient. All Covid rules are in place and we felt safe. RESORT; Absolutely beautiful and grounds are very well maintained. The resort has everything you need to never leave it, restaurant, spa, pond, sitting areas by the stream and walking trails. CABINS; Cabins have lovely little front decks with tables & 4 chairs to sit on, to look at the beautiful trees & mountains. The two bedroom cabins are comfortable & cozy with fireplaces. Cabins have heat but NO air conditioning. Kitchen; The kitchen if you have to cook has everything thing you need. I prefer the Eagles nest restaurant though, lol, it's my vacation too. Bathroom; The bathroom is a little on the tight side and needs a minimum of 6 towel hooks for wet towels to dry, the 2 small towel bars are inefficient. Water pressure in the shower is great! Toiletries provided are very nice, especially the lotion. Bedrooms; Bedroom 1, clean & fresh. Queen beds were comfortable. Bedroom 2; Twin beds were not comfortable for adults. No mirrors in bedrooms for ladies to do hair & makeup. Both bedrooms need ceiling fans since there's no air conditioning. All linens were soft & fresh. TIP; bring a portable fan if you need air movement or run hot at night. RESTAURANT; We had excellent service and the food is good quality, flavorful and fantastic! The whole family enjoyed eating here. The DOUBLE EAGLE RESORT & SPA will now be our family's go to place. read more

We have been vacationing at Double Eagle since 2001. My boys basically were vacation raised in the Eastern Sierras. And I love the Double Eagle. You definitely have to be a little bit patient and open minded that this resort is over 20 years old. Some things in our room were definitely a little worn out and things were broken down. Did communicate with the front office and I'm sure they'll get fixed. My thoughts would be ... didn't the previous guests noticed ? Maybe the cleaning staff? We had a front window that was totally broken, cracked and you can tell that it was duct taped and had been broken for quite some time, not real great to look out at? Microwave that didn't have the turning Tray inside, lights that didn't work on the stove and knobs on stove that were broken and missing ...Broken glass that two of us encountered on the porch in our feet ... TV didn't work in bedroom and the mattress was so worn out but not really sure what was happening. But the place was very clean. It was nice that they delivered firewood every day. It's just one of those things and fortunately we made the best of it. We had two great meals at the restaurant our waitress, Stephanie was our server both times, she's a gem. The bartender makes great drinks. The property is beautiful, I just wish the cabins were taken care of more appropriately to reflect the beauty of Double Eagle. I'm aware now that the cabins are older, but wanted management to be aware of the handful of things that not ideally happened throughout our weekend stay. Cabin 112 *oven not heating, noticed after pre-heated over 30 minutes (got working after husband re-set it) *Bag of opened shrimp in the freezer upon arrival (not checked/cleaned out) *sprayer getting stuck ON in kitchen sink & would spray everywhere when sink was turned on. *bathroom floor has open crack along bath tub& has no rubber/seal to block any water from going under wooden flooring. *customer service no answer 5 calls in a row for assistance Evening time *lighter for fire place not included with house keeping order we added to towels(as stated it would be when I called/requested it) *next day toilet paper missing from house keeping order & we just used tissue paper because it was after 5pm when we noticed *last night stay we started fire in our fireplace& a lot of smoke in cabin (*infant was present in living room& the kitchen window directly across from fire would not open to release smoke) We had to leave cabin. Guest Service Agent came right away and pulled off a log/said not a good idea to start another fire, let it die down& he thinks something is blocking the smoke from exiting. ^could have been really dangerous & a lot of our personal items smell like smoke. **We did get a discount off 1 of our nights, (by the person who came to the cabin that night) due to the fireplace/smoke issue & no longer being able to be used. read more

We came for a wedding and between the massage therapist who injured me by giving me a super aggressive massage when I had asked for light pressure and the food at the double eagle which was so poor it was barely legible. We gave it 3 chances.. Had the rib eye for dinner- came out like leather and the vegetables weren't cooked. Breakfast- poached eggs were rubber but the sausage was fantastic. Lunch- the poor food was only surpassed by the horrific service. Our waiter Aaron was rude and treated us like dirt from the second he walked up to the table. He let us know that "he was the waiter, the bartender, the salad maker and and the bus boy, and to expect a wait on our food. Also, he was a server, not our servant and "just because you're here for a wedding, you don't run this place." Those were his opening remarks and we hadn't even ordered yet. Since nothing else was open, we had no choice but to stay. The resort is so beautiful and the manager, bartender and everyone that was working the actual wedding were fantastic. But until they're able to hire people who want to work in the service industry and actually care about serving people, we won't be back. read more

Not accessible for anyone in a wheelchair. Well, they designed it to be ADA compliant but the employees use the handicapped accessible parking for themselves. God forbid they actually end up with a disability in life seeing as they can't park the 10 feet away that isn't further from the spa entrance...just accessible for those who need it. The same girl who parked there because "she doesnt even care because she can't even today" definitely "couldn't even today" with her piss poor attitude at the front desk. Would post a picture of said employee's blue Hyundai Tuscan from Utah without tags or a placard but hoping they will simply do better next time, key word..."hoping" Edit: Apparently it's the manager of the spa who "doesn't care because she's had a rough day." So I guess if you want to enjoy the spa and you need accessibility it can only be done when the manager isn't working or any of the employees that follow her lead. I'm sorry that she had a rough day, but it's an even worse day when someone not simply wants to take advantage of accessibility but wants to take it away from those who need it. Thought it was common knowledge to leave your problems at home before going to work but the management here believes that everyone else needs to have a bad day too. Really though, when someone wants to enjoy the spa and they can't access it because they watched the manager take the one access point away and declare that "they don't even care that they parked there because they're having a bad day and locked their keys in their car" from them it's not a good look. Do better. Those access points are there for a reason and there isn't a "bad day" placard that trumps an "accessible" placard. Another edit: this time we have an employee with a red maroon crossover suv with a bashed up front passenger side end with packing tape holding it together. Not that this description will do anything as this is the management's idea of leadership. This time the excuse was "I won't be long." Well, in that not very long time I got to witness an elderly couple with canes struggle to walk through the gravel driveway and wind up turning back and giving up. At this point it's a trend. This establishment does not have any respect or regard for any persons with a disability or any regard for ADA regulations. The first time could have been a one off. This is now a trend. If this establishment can afford to turn their nose up at an entire demographic, then they can survive without your business. We're surrounded by the beautiful outdoors and it's natural healing properties, that is way more preferable and cheaper than paying this establishment to take away accessibility to those who need it. There's hiking trails just around the corner that will work out the same muscles as this gym but without the added discrimination. It's also just a bad look for an establishment to be around for the sake of health and wellness when it's employees can't take the 3 steps over gravel in order to accommodate those who can not. If you think this situation doesn't apply to you, just hope to goodness that you never have anything happen to you that would require adaptive needs. Hope that you don't age and need assistance walking. Hope that you never get into an accident or break a leg or bone or anything really. Hope that your family and friends never have to experience this either and then maybe this would still not be your problem. read more

We requested a move when the upstairs guests were so loud I couldn't sleep. The pet friendly cabins have SUPER creaky floors and people with boots clomping around , playing with their dogs at 11:30 is not ok for the price . Waited until 1:30 for a new room, moved our stuff ourselves, went out, came back at 6 to find all our stuff GONE . Front desk woman said she moved it thinking it was the previous guests Manager ( Darla ) and front staff ( Veronica) were VERY apologetic and comped 2 nights and a voucher for another night stay. Very helpful in the face of a shitty situation . Worked to make it right! read more

The Wifi did not work (both times we stayed here) the restaurant food is ok but once again the service is not very good. Only few open tables and they close at 8pm. The bar also closed both times we stayed here. For the money that you pay for this place the customer service should be priority number one. Very disappointed. I so badly want to give 5 stars but there's a few reasons why I'm not. The resort is absolutely stunning, beautiful, and with the best of views. My massage with Natasha was awesome as always and she is so nice. However, we ordered lunch at the desk to eat by the pool and when our food came it was cold. Cold nachos are not good, the bread on the tri tip sandwich was so hard that it was inedible. I remember the food being awesome last year so maybe it was just a bad day for the cook. My daughter and I went in to shower at the end of our stay and the shower had a ton of hair in the drain and on the wall, kinda grossed me out. Not sure if the showers are cleaned between people but we were the only ones there (minus the 2 ladies that left when we arrived) but that was a lot of hair! Over all, I LOVE this place and we will be back, I just hope the food is better next time around! read more

This is a 3 star resort with 5 star service. Our family of 4 adults was here between Christmas and New Years. We arrived on a cold dark, winter day, around 7PM. They called us on our drive up so knew our estimated arrival time so they preheated our 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin! All during our trip, if we asked for things ( salt & pepper, extra firewood, more paper towels, a better scrubbing sponge for dishes, etc) it was not only brought to us so we didn't have to trek out to the front office in the heavy snow, they brought it right away! They didn't provide towels every day but when asked for another set, no problem. We cooked nearly all meals in our cabin- highly recommend as the town has literally no restaurants not even an espresso cafe. Their onsite restaurant is mediocre as reviews state. (First time in my life I ordered a medium rare steak and it was served well done! (They did offer a free dessert which we declined). I would definitely stay here again. We went snow shoeing and cross country skiing- conditions and area for this were awesome! Rentals were easy to get as well at Ernie's. read more

I went to Double Eagle resort for a massage during a 5 day fishing trip. I was surprised when I had one of the best massages of my life by an excellent masseuse named Natasha. The SPA and FITNESS areas are exceptional. So many machines and so much space I felt spoiled. I was able to get my workout done without any waiting or problems. The machines were clean and they had workout mats (obviously used by guests and I could have brought my own which I will). They had sanitizing wipes available everywhere. There were running, elliptical, stair, rowing, bikes (that's just what I can remember). The workout space is giant! There is a small room with bosu balls, mats, steps and the like. They have TRX in the wooden (very clean) group fitness room. I really liked this room because there were lots of windows letting natural light in. I completed my workout with some yoga stretches and then breathing exercises. The room was perfect for that. I appreciated the welcoming attitude when we stopped in to find out more information. Delores took time with us and then we buzzed around the entire place checking things out. It was very clean and tidy. The mountain/country feel was also tasteful. The spa has three GIANT showers, plenty of running hot water (ahhhh), two large locker spaces, a jacuzzi and steam room exclusively for women, restrooms, private changing room, quiet room as well as an enormous (and well stocked) area for make-up, drying your hair, brushing teeth...basically everything you would need. They have a pool with two lanes you could do laps in and a coed jacuzzi which is quite spacious. Overall I am very glad we stopped in and joined. I regret I didn't do this the minute I got to June Lake! Oh, they have Daily, Weekly and Monthly options. We took the Couple Monthly. read more

Arrived in the early evening, although I recieved a call at 330pm, that they would be closing the front desk at 430pm. ( not 8 to 8 as advertised) Upon arrival, we walked around the grounds at the base of an amazing mountain view and enjoyed the scenery from the balcony. There were a nice amount of birds and small wildlife. This is the only draw to this location for me after staying 1 night. Instead of the peaceful mountain escape we had planned, they were hosting a party with loud dance music and people shouting that lasted well into the night. When we were finally able to climb into bed, the bed had female hair and stains on the sheets as if they did not change between stays. The second bed in the room looked reasonably clean, however I woke up several times during the night due to the discomfort of the bed and in the morning my back felt like I was beat up. There were other maintenance issues such as the toilet paper holder falling off the wall. Cleanliness of the carpet? The linoleum in the bathroom is a slip and fall hazard when getting out of the shower. The Wifi was not able to connect, trouble shooting suggested too many people using the connection or that the router needed to be reset. For this semi private cabin experience ( 4 rooms to a building), they do not have air conditioning, slept with the windows open to have some sort of air flow. This in and of itself is not a problem as I often sleep with my windows open at home. However, this meant when our neighbors decide to smoke cigars for half the night it flowed right into the room. In addition, after a restless night we were awoken at 615 by dogs barking and music playing. Attempted to call the front desk for check out with no answer. Took the extra time to drive to the office only to wait while the only person in the office spoke on the phone describing the resort features for several minutes. My takeaway is that if you treat this as a camping experience, not as a expensive hotel stay, you may really enjoy yourself. read more

My family and I used to go to June lake every year from the time I was a kid up until adulthood. I have sooo many good memories in this area. So when my boyfriend and I were invited to a wedding here at this resort, I was super excited to celebrate with the couple as well as show off June Lake to my boyfriend who had never been. After a hiccup with another hotel in the area, we stayed here with some of his family members. We had family in both the single rooms as well as the two bedroom cabins, and both were clean, beautiful, and comfortable. This resort is really cool and honestly it's probably one of the best options on the area. The rooms are not insanely expensive and honestly worth the comforts provided. The resort is tucked away in the trees, beautiful Mountain View's, great amenities, and just a short drive into the main part of town. They are also PET FRIENDLY! I originally didn't book here because I read somewhere that they didn't allow pets, however upon check in our family was asked if they had any pets and apparently they do allow them, so score! I wish I had taken some pictures of the room because it really was that nice, the beds were insanely comfortable, I honestly can't wait to start our own tradition of going to June lake every year, and I think the Double Eagle Resort just may be where we stay from hear on out. read more

Great spot in June Lakes. Not cheap, but a really nice place to rest. Large rooms, beautiful grounds, easy access to hiking. Nice restaurant, bar and spa. We ate at the restaurant 3 times. Only complaint is the room seems worn, (leaky faucets, pets scratched carpet and door) perhaps late season results. As reported by another poster, cleaning crew was a no show. Perhaps 2nd floor location was too much of a climb. We normally don't care if our bed is made, but we ran out of coffee :=( Luckily the front desk staff are great. Also, my guess 1st floor might be noisy with 2nd floor guests. Same as most hotels I'd say. Overall, thumbs up. read more

This is such a beautiful resort! I came to the Double Eagle for my friends' wedding that was happening in Yosemite. The wedding party had a room block here. There are two types of accommodations: resort rooms (where I stayed) or cabins. I highly recommend the resort rooms unless you are here as a larger family, because the view isn't as good. The resort property just endues relaxation and romance. The sound of lightly running water is all around from the creek to Ron's Pond, the trees are lush, the sky blue, and the air is clean. I could stay there forever! Upon check in we received complimentary oatmeal cranberry COOKIES that were DELICIOUS! There is also free wifi, but it can be kind of spotty. The resort rooms all overlook Ron's Pond. We had a GORGEOUS VIEW from our pretty PRIVATE BALCONY. The room was quite large and decorated with a log cabin feel. The king BED WAS SUPER COMFORTABLE. The mattress and pillows were not too hard, not too soft. They were just right (haha, playing off that log cabin feel). Usually the bf wakes up in hotels with all kinds of neck and shoulder pain, but not here. The bathroom was also spacious with a large rain shower and separate SPA TUB. We went to the Eagle's Landing Restaurant for a group dinner after the wedding. We were put outdoors on the twinkle lit deck. It was pretty, but much too cold. The food was tasty though. We had a buffet with steak, salmon, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. We also had breakfast there before departing. I had a waffle with eggs and bacon. Everything was COOKED TO PERFECTION. I don't think the wait staff is used to groups, because they seemed pretty overwhelmed. No big deal though. There isn't a nook of the resort that didn't have a special touch. I really wish I had had time to relax and enjoy the resort's amenities, but we were delayed arriving by a fire on the 395 and then were out with wedding activities most of the time. Double Eagle Resort & Spa is an awesome spot in the Eastern Sierras! Most non-skiing mountain resorts tend to be pretty hillbilly - not Double Eagle. The accomodations are very nice - well-maintained cabins/cottages, gorgeous location/property, a sweet indoor pool/spa along with a nice restaurant and bar area. While I have not stayed at the resort, I have hung out there, used the pool, ate at the restaurant and swilled booze at the bar - it's all great! Next summer, I'm lining up to spend a week at the resort, but my experience is 5 star so far! 5 stars! read more

If I could give the staff here negative stars, I would. The property is nestled in a gorgeous place outside Yosemite .....but the unprofessional behavior and flippant attitude of the staff is absolutely beyond comprehension. Our first visit was almost two years ago. We booked and prepaid through hotwire. We checked in with Veronica who forced us to pay even though we showed her that we paid through Hotwire. We showed her the Apple Pay transaction and even showed her the debit to the account on the Wells Fargo app. It made no difference. We left four messages for accounting and spoke to the front desk multiple times to no avail. As the location is beyond gorgeous we decided to give them another try and book directly but see if they would rectify last trips screw up. According to Jaime from accounting I am a liar and they are infallible...even though I have all the physical proof and they admitted at the time they were brand new to the Hotwire platform. Ridiculous. I looked at my account just now and realized they charged me for three nights for a two night stay. I called the office and the "lady" never even let me ask her about the current situation because she swore up and down that she knew "all about my situation" and wouldnt stop going off to let me ask the what I called to. This "resort" that is about three times the price it should be.....i shake my head.....you guys need to get bought out, updated and restaffed. Cheers. read more

I had to check the name of the resort one more time before I started writing about the Double Eagle, as I'm absolutely surprised to see all these 4 and 5 stars here. Did we perhaps stay at a different resort??!!?? Well, perhaps it was just one of their older cabins that we were given, or perhaps the place is falling apart with service gone downhill! Here is my family's experience from a few weeks ago. The cabin's location was amazing. The interior was getting old (time to renovate). The plumbing had issues. We got no service the first day (no new towels, no trash collection, no firewood). The full-kitchen needed some upgrades.. few broken glass bowls. The pull out bed needed major revamp. WATCH OUT...there were stains on the bed covers. I don't think they wash them. The king bed was sagging in the middle; had to pull to the edge to sleep. read more

WARNING!!! Use to be a nice place to stay. Will probably never stay there again due to the staff. Our last stay over winter, we were force to stay there due to being snowed in. Paid more than double our original fee with no discounts. On top of that, SOMEONE THERE WILL STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO!!! I had to deal with my banks and online merchants for months after the trip due to one or more of the staff members who stole my credit card number and started making online purchases with it. Let's just say they were so stupid to have the items they were hoping to buy with my money shipped to my house. So in short, DO NOT STAY THERE, unless you are willing to go through the headache of cancelling credit cards and waiting for investigations and refunds of your money. The owner needs to get a better handle on their staff and hire honest and trustworthy people. You may be thinking maybe it was stolen somewhere else...No because the resort front desk is the only place where I used my credit card. And multiple times they asked for it to make a copy of it. If they already had a copy of it, why do they need it multiple times? Why else.... read more
