Great ambiance and decor in the restaurant. It was decently filled with people, but no wait. The food was average, nothing over the top. The flavor, presentation and over quality was typical of a Chinese restaurant. Enough for leftovers for the next day which is also a positive. Main reason for the 3 star is the pricing seemed very high for the food. To put things in perspective, for 2 people we spent the same as what we did at Indochine the following week which is very high on the list for Asian food in Wilmington. Double Happiness has two locations in Wilmington and I enjoy them both equally. If is the same menu at both and the atmosphere at both is great. Each have a private room for large parties, too. This is about as authentic Chinese as you can get in this area. I highly recommend the Mandarin Chicken, dry wok chicken, dim sum steamer sampler, Szechuan Eggplant and Scallion Pancakes. The lunch prices are very reasonable and dinners are as well. The edamame is served cold which is an acquired taste. I really like this place. read more

Usually our favorite Chinese restaurant in town. The food has delicious flavors that the whole family enjoys. The front of house staff are very friendly. Taking one star away as the kitchen seems to ignore requests to leave out allergy triggering foods. It happens using the online system and calling the order in. read more

We order take out from this place weekly. The owner is really friendly, the food is delicious. My usual is Ginger Tofu. You can tell this is not a riff-raffi type of Chinese. The pairings in the menu are well thought of. I've eaten inside once and service was great. The portions are on the bigger side and I would say this is pretty close to fine Chinese food. read more

Visited Ogden location early evening New Years Eve. Crowded, but seated in 10 min. Sadly, only beer & wine sold and bar had only one seat, no bartender. Food ok. We had steamed dumplings, a beef dish and crispy noodles. Dumplings best, others so so. Server friendly but very slow and had to be reminded of requests several times. Need more servers. Ambience poor. If food had been better, we might have tried takeout but guess we'll continue search for good Chinese food in ILM. read more

If you like to be treated well as a customer, DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE. Got there 10 min. before their 5 p.m. opening time needing to use the ladies room. Knocked (loudly) on the locked door. A very nice server came to the door and when I explained what I needed she unlocked the door and let me in. While I was entering, another server came running from the bar area shouting, "What's going on?" It went down hill from there. First server never came to my defense, running server screamed at me that I was being rude. I basically lost my temper. More importantly I've lost $40 worth of their coupons because I will never, ever go back. I'd rather starve. There are plenty of other restaurants in Wilmington. New to the area from DC we hoped for the best but were disappointed. The food is not authentically Chinese....just very Americanized. Rushed service. We ordered a chicken and pork main dish and my husband could not even chew the tough pork.
