I believe in making multiple visits before a review if you live fairly local. I have given this place so many tries to impress me and my guests over the last few years, and it has failed all of us for the last time. Food is slow (yes we saw the signs) and mediocre at best. Beer is better than the food. Wait staff is scarce, but decent. The kicker is that the atmosphere is almost non-existent, almost depressing. This place used to be hopping and lively when it first opened, but not anymore. I truly hope the management will consider how they can improve and do it sooner than later. The Double Horn is across the street from the dinner most known in the area. A good place but I am not going to wait 45 minutes to get in any dinner. The DH is not fancy but it is friendly and has a good selection of beers and food. I ordered a brown Ale and fish and chips. The ale was good and not overly hopped as can be with some brew pubs. The fish came out as a proper slice of battered filet. It even came with proper Vinegar for the fish and mayo for the fries. Jennifer was well trained with perfect suggestions and knowledge. While a petty test at the end she knew to bring the change on small bills so it was convient to tip her. read more

The Mac & cheese here is so good! Not your cheap elbows and processed cheese food stuff. It was a good size serving of fusilli pasta with several cheeses in the sauce. We also had a basket of onion rings which were hot and crunchy and served with a delicious sweet sauce. The service was good and the food came out quickly. We will be back. read more

I've been here a few times now and have always enjoyed some of their beers, but the whole restaurant part is really lacking on the service side. I know it's probably really hard to find good help in MF and I hate to bash a place that I really hope stays open as there aren't many non-fast food, or non-chain options in town, but out last experience there was pretty bad. The food was OK, but it took forever to get seated, our orders taken and for food to arrive. No apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. Luckily we weren't in a hurry and there was a football game on or I would have walked out. I'd probably come back to sit at the bar, but never with a largish group again. read more

The bison burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had! My wife had the jalapeño popper burger, and it was great as well. I had the "Front Porch Sippin" beer, and it was fantastic. We came up for the day from Austin (where we are used to a solid brewery/restaurant experience) .. we stopped here for lunch. Man, did we leave disappointed. When we walked in, the dining area was almost entirely empty and we were seated at a table that was still soaking wet from being cleaned off. A server came up to the guy seating us and *unenthusiastically* asked if we were her table, then shrugged when she was told yes. She never even greeted us with a hello, just came up to us and said she would give us some time. We asked for waters, my husbands glass of water was obviously dirty- it was yellow. He didn't touch it. The beers we ordered (I got an APA, he got an IPA- both tasted metallic and flat.) We placed our order- an appetizer and a burger to share. The server told us that they're out of our original choice for burger (bison) so we ordered a Blue burger med-rare instead. 20+ minutes later... she came up to us and said that our appetizer was gonna be out in just a minute. At this point, a few other tables had been seated around us. And we waited.... and waited....... and the other tables ordered and got their food before we even got our appetizer. Well guess what- we NEVER even got the appetizer we ordered!! Our burger came out (bland flavorless, skimped on blue chz, soggy bun, obviously had been sitting out on the expo line for a while.) Not Not impressed. Their beers were pretty awesome. That's the only good thing I can say. The dining area is super loud, bad acoustics. And for someone with old man ears that's a big problem. My friend ordered a salad that said it was kale with chicken and pecans. They brought it out and it was spinach not kale, they brought no salad dressing with it and the waiter said the dressing was on it but the salad was dry. There wasn't any on it. I ordered the cheese fries which were $10. I thought it would be a shareable amount naw. It was about like a supersize fry from McD's. They were good, and I ate them all but $10? I won't be back unless it's just for a beer. We also ordered a beer sampler which comes with your choice of 4 microbrewery beers. I really like a couple but they brought out a wrong one. He said it was watermelon beer but it was clearly the habanero beer. Which was ok since my friend liked it. But the serving staff and cooking staff really need more focus. In town visiting so we could see the Christmas lights at Lake Park. We're starving so decided on some place local and close before walking thru Christmas wonderland. Four of us were seated quickly, unfortunately that was the only thing quick all evening. Three of us ordered beers. Seems like they needed to go over the river and thru the wood to bring back the beers. It was quite the wait. At least they were cold. Ordered our food. Three of us had burgers and the fourth had the fries appetizer, covered in cheese. Family of three sat down at the table next to us about 20 minutes after we had arrived. They ordered, ate, and were leaving at the time we got our food. Over an hour wait, for something that is fairly simple to make. Waiter came by once to get another beer order. Finished both beers slowly, and still had not received our food. Finally delivered our burgers, ready to dig in. Presentation was nice, looked good. But took a bite and realized looks can be deceiving. Patty was drier than the Sahara desert. All of the flavor and juice had been cooked out. Maybe this is why it took so long to get our food, they were too busy overcooking it. The fried okra was not any better. Almost had a doughy texture to it. Not crisp and definitely no flavor. I wrote a review a few years ago after 3 visits and spending $300. I now have 8 check in's and have no idea how much I've spent but dramatically more than $300. I probably wouldn't have taken the time to lower my rating had it not been for the remarkably unenthusiastic service we received from the bartender when having dinner at the bar. For the sake of being PC I'm really stretching the definition of "unenthusiastic". With two couples at the bar this woman had a very difficult time staying engaged and attentive to the customers. No banter or even pleasantries. She clearly acted as though her job was an inconvenience. I haven't experienced such a low level of service in recent history. We had to ask for every little thing from napkins to water to a knife to.......... The couple next to us made a couple of comments indicating their dissatisfaction with the service as well. On the other hand the kitchen and brewmaster seem to have their act together. The buffalo burger was fantastic as are many of their entrees. Their beers are also good especially the new wheat but this establishment just continues to underwhelm with inconsistent if not terrible service. Just in case the owner of this place ever reads Yelp reviews here's a couple of suggestions. Find a friendly (maybe even upbeat) bartender and figure out why your water tastes like it was poured out of a bleach bottle. read more

Heading through Marble Falls after a weekend in the hill country, we decided to grab a bite to eat and try some local beer at the Double Horn. The menu is simple but better than typical bar fare. They had items such as lump crab cakes, bison burgers with pecan bacon and blue cheese, sandwiches, soups, salads and on the weekday evenings they have an additional entree menu to include wild boar and baby back ribs. I ordered on the lighter side, a vegapolean sandwich with fruit as my side. The sandwich had roasted zucchini and squash, sundried tomatoes, eggplant, arugula, garlic aoli on ciabatta. The veggies were flavorful but it was hard to keep the vegetables from falling out of the sandwich and the bread was just OK. The fruit was fresh. I also tasted the chicken salad sandwich with tarragon and red grapes. I like the thick bread of the chicken salad sandwich that had a nutty flavor to it. The tarragon mayo added great flavor to the sandwich. The hand cut fries were just OK. Overall the food was OK but the beer on the other hand was GOOD! They make several beers in house and I tasted the 1885 pal ale, the Fine Wine Wheat and the stout scout. The 1885 was light and citrusy with hops. The scout stout (more my type of beer) has a taste similar to pecan porter but less sweet. They describe it as a bold toasty ale with prominent American hops and bottom end torque.. I'm a fan! The Fine Wine Wheat is their anniversary beer. It tastes light but drink with caution as it is 9.5% abv. The anniversary beer is a wheat ale with German and American hops. They do not bottle their beer but you can purchase a growler to go or bring in a growler of your own to fill. 32 oz. growlers sell for $10 and are $6 to refill. the 64 oz. growler is $17 or $18 and $11 to fill. Besides their beers they also carry some Texas' finest such as 512, Austin Beerworks, Real Ale, Live Oak, Adelbert's and Thirsty Planet. The wine menu has decent wine by the glass or bottle. Loved this place! We went on a Sunday morning right after they opened so there was not a large crowd yet. This afforded us the opportunity to talk a very pleasant lady named Gemma, and we got the history behind the brewery. The food we tried was really good. We had a pizza, a fish taco and some type of pimento cheese dip. The beer - I am an IPA guy so I had one of their Lake Water IPA. Oh my, loved it! MY wife is not a beer drinker, but she did try a porter once that she liked, so we sampled a few other beers. Their S'Mores Stout was so smooth. The porter was good, though its not my cup of tea. We noticed on their beer menu a couple of beers that had watermelon in them, and that was a hard no for me as it just didn't sound right. I was very wrong. We tried the lager and the hazy and they were both amazing! Even my wife even enjoyed their watermelon lager. It's got my wondering if they sell the watermelon lager by the keg for my kegerator at the house. Hmmm.... We will definitely be going back there!! read more

We came back for St. Patrick's day and they were understaffed so were very busy. As a waitress me and my boyfriend understood and were patient. They had one of the chefs out to help seat and take drink orders, something I thought was awesome considering Mostly chefs always stick to the kitchen no matter what. We got good service even though they were busy and it was slower than normal. I just want to add, there were a bunch of assholes in there that treated the staff like crap and left no tips. We just left this place. My daughter, wife and I. Firstly, the girl who sat us was unfriendly and uncaring. (Glasses and a bun.) Our Waitress was sweet though, so that was a plus. My wife ordered the sirloin and was very disappointed with it. She ordered medium and got rare. It was full of fat, a terrible cut for $20 damn dollars. And only came with one side, a child's portion of mashed potatoes that were kind of bland. I ordered the beer burger, on a whim. A $10 burger, without fries. The waitress kindly brought me a sample of the beer cheese and I hated it. Unfortunately I didn't see her again before she brought my burger so I couldn't change my order. I gave the burger a try anyways. Nasty. The beer cheese was gritty and way too sweet. Just nasty. A terrible thing to put on a burger. Although, the beef itself was good, I had to smother this burger in ranch so I could eat it and not waste $10. Fortunately, the waitress removed the burger from our ticket. I let her know that my complaint had nothing to do with her, she was great, the food was just sub-par. This place gets two stars. One for the waitress, and one for the three The Clash songs that were played while we were there. You're welcome. They got me hooked on combining pears,blue cheese, and candied pecans on any bed of salad with vinaigrette. My salad was fresh, and came out quickly. Double thumbs up!!! My husband had the burger with blue cheese, also good. Especially if your really hungry the portion is large. Fish taco with pork appetizers are a bit pricey for two tacos but if you use the Yelp coupon they are 50% off. I didn't think the sauce and cabbage over pork went well. The pork was good but the sauce threw off the whole taco because it was sweet like fish sauce or a coleslaw dressing. Just tasted off, but didn't complain cuz they were 1/2 off. Maybe a spicy BBQ sauce or something would mix better.. They do brew their own beer here, tried the firemans light ale, forgot exact name but it was good. Light and crisp. Perfect for a hot day. The service was perfect, we had the most attentive service. I think this place is in top 5 places to eat in Marble falls. He offered samples of several different brews, all amazing. I ordered shrimp and grits and it was perfect. Jordon even had them turn the "spice" down for me after letting me know it was a spicy dish. Thanks! Great music too y'all! Foot tapping fun music while we enjoyed great brews. We sat at the bar so the PBA was on the set and I have never seen children weep after getting a signature from a bowler....good job! Anyway. Myself, wife and guest showed up at 6:50 on Thursday. One bartender and one to wait on all the other tables. I had to get up several times for beer and to finally order a pizza. Little disappointed the pot stickers are not there. The pizza price has gone up and when we got the pizza it filled the original pizza pan half way. I asked the waiter and he agreed it had gotten smaller. So more money and smaller pizza. Beer on Thursday used to be $3, now it's $3.50. Now to get a bison burger you have to add $5 more. Slow service, smaller portions and higher prices??? I think your running loyal customers like ourselves off. I think I waisted my money on the mug club. Not sure if we'll be back. My wife and I have a weekend place in Marble Falls and are really enjoying the new restaurants coming to the area as well as some of the old favorites, like Blue Bonnet Cafe, Russo's, The Real New Orleans and Grand Central Cafe in Kingsland. There are also some other places to get a really good burger, like Bill's Burgers on Main Street and even Super Taco on Hwy. 281. Double Horn Brewery had become one of my favorites as well....BUT I have to say that I have been so disappointed in the service my last few visits that I'm beginning to believe I may have to scratch this place off my list and quit recommending it to friends. It's a shame because this place has a lot going for it. The in-house brews are good and the burgers/sandwiches are unique and tasty. But the staff often act like the customers are an annoying distraction. Also, I hate to say it, but they just don't look professional and certainly don't act like they have ever had 5 minutes of training. But this microbrewery serves one of the best IPAs ever to pass from glass to wherever it goes... and I am an expert IPA taster dammit. We also had the brown ale and the pale ale brewed on premises. It was all amazing. The food is awesome. The Cuban Sandwich with cheese grits was happily consumed by Dad. The cheeseburger was similary awesome. There was enough left over to feed my big brother... who delayed ordering long enough to get fully sated by our leftovers. And they have beer to go in growlers to share with friends. Stopped for beer which wasn't bad just took forever to get. Ordered some food because the menu looked good. The crabby cado was fantastic, however the rest of our food not so much. I ordered two steak fajita tacos on corn. The meat had clearly been cooked prior and looked like it had been through the microwave and back to the grill and then some. It just looked old and dry and tasted dry. My corn tortillas were grilled in an attempt to cover up the fact that they were old and stale. I didn't even eat the tortilla they were so bad. Stopped in here when I tried to get to Blue Bonnet (I discovered they are a cash/check only restaurant). I was acknowledged right away by the friendly bartender and took a seat at the bar. The selection here is good with the different styles they brew and a few guest taps. I ordered the chicken fried chicken which I really enjoyed and a stout which was ok. Their website says they are a homebrewer and the beer definitely tilts that way. Not many options in the area from what I can see so this would be a good choice if you want a decent pint of beer and pretty tasty food. $3.00 pints when I was there defintiely helps. read more

We loved Double Horn! Lots of locals are here. We ordered a pizza to share and beer. I had the electric watermelon and hubby had the amber headed stepchild beer. Both were very good. Pizza was a whole wheat thin crust with sausage and onion and quite delicious. We ate at the bar and our bartender Gemma and the regulars gave us great advice of what to see and do in the Highland Lakes area. Hope to make this our new hangout! read more
