Family friendly restaurant that has lots of beer on tap. If you love spending times with families while drinking beer, this is the place to go. If you want to take all the kids, including your newborn, plus the neighbors, the grandparents, and the stranger off the street, take 'em all here. Clean, bright, large restaurant. I sat at the bar and ordered the BLT (about $9) which also, for some reason, has cheese on it. I payed a few extra bucks for a side salad rather than chips. The taproom has been on my list to try for a while due to its location and the fact that it serves pizza and it didn't disappoint. We tried the Buffy pizza and it was very tasty. The sauce is a little sweet and spicy. The crust is thin and two big appetites can finish a large. I liked the space here too. The outside seating was ample as well but full when we got there. My visiting parents and I had never been here, so I searched online, and then we went in. Pretty crowded with happy folk; families with children. We all had very good sandwiches, and our server was very attentive and friendly. Our non-beer drinks were nice. Great. But when we first sat down, before ordering, an employee, who I latter assumed was a manager, vigorously swept an entrance carpet runner left and right, creating small clouds of dust, just ten feet away. We all saw this and thought of how filthy this was in a restaurant. He wasn't gently sweeping towards the door; sweeping debris out, but across the runner, and into the air. Not a hygienic action where food is served. That alone, may keep us away. Cleaning in a restaurant should only be done while food isn't being served. read more

The food menu is limited to an array of brick oven pizzas, sandwiches and salads. We all had sandwiches, which were good, if not remarkable, but I am anxious to try the pizzas next visit. I really like this restaurant. Great food, unbeatable beer, and welcoming atmosphere. The pizza is sublime. We get the Margherita, and add bleu cheese crumbles! I've also tried the Reuben, and it too is very good. The bread doesn't get soggy like I've experienced at so many restaurants. They even have live music at times! This place is a must visit, if you haven't yet. Only thing keeping me coming here more is the lack of TVs. Unfortunately, there aren't any. That means no beers and watching Trail Blazers/Timbers/NFL games. I understand the mentality of "we want people to enjoy each other's company, and not a television screen", but this place could be perfect, with even just one well placed TV at the bar! read more

During my paternity leave, this was our regular destination for lunch. The TLB, baby D and I would cruise on over, do some day drinking, make questionable grocery purchases at New Seasons and then hightail it back home before the Little Dictator was dropped off by the big yellow school bus. When the 7 year old Little D, the most picky eating child EVER devoured an entire personal pizza on his own, this quickly became a family favorite. Ok, I helped him out with the crust, but still, it brought tears to my eyes. God bless that American kid and his love of their pizza. Great neighborhood taproom! Outdoor seating and dog friendly. They have pizzas made in the wood fire oven that are delicious. Lots of options and we went for the Margherita pizza. We order a large for two hungry people and it was plenty. The salads and sandwiches also looked really tasty. The drinks were great as well. I had an IPA and then the Dubbell and they were both wonderful, I highly recommend the dubbell. My friend had a whiskey drink and enjoyed it too! read more

What Woodstock was waiting for! Double Mountain knows it's good.......while there's a few bumps in the road, good beer and good pizza means it's a pretty smooth ride overall. After a few visits here I have the chance to give a better evaluation. The food is a real highlight. Their New Haven style brick oven pizza is really on par with some of the best in Portland. There's practically some guy named Bruno working that oven like no tomorrow and he's not messing around! Quality toppings with some really swell vegetarian offerings, big plus for plus size vegetarians like myself! I highly recommend "The Bruno" which puts mozzarella and crumbled goat cheese, kalamatas, peppadew peppers, and basil on a pie and let me tell ya......that ain't bad! The "Truffle Shuffle" is also a good one, a white sauce pie with goat cheese and portobellas. They do some greaet salads as well.......the Greek one is a pretty hearty choice and compliments the pizza well. 2 people ordering a salad and splitting a pizza are plenty full here. Sandwiches and subs round out the menu here, and they have a nice little kid menu in this very family friendly pub. The beer for me is just so so.......but that's just my opinion so don't let it sway yours. The Kolsch was rather flat and the IPA just doesn't pop for me. That aside, they have great draft ginger brew and root beer and I'm always satisfied with some good iced tea. Where it loses a star for me is service which can be spotty. I've had some great servers here who are super helpful and make great suggestions.........and the apathetic ones who go through the motions and then get everybody's ticket wrong at the table. While it won't keep me away, I would like to see some better training and have a better staff experience. I know it's frustrating to wait on groups of people............but things could be improved. Overall this is a great place with plenty of outdoor seating, a super clean dining area, and a just a great atmosphere all around. Give it a try and see for yourself! read more

This place is a rock solid place to go if you are looking for beer and wood fired pizza. It is not overly fancy and serves pretty basic pies but they are made well with good, quality ingredients. I think like most of us we were so thrilled to have something that wasn't another crap restaurant in this spot when DM came. After dining here close to a dozen times I can say, it's fine/good. I am not a fan of their beers, not an IPA guy, and the others are alright. I still say the best thing on the menu is the turkey sandwich. The meatball is ok and pizza is ok too. I think they need to pop those pies out a minute sooner. I realize that the "hip" thing is to give your pizza some char as that is what all the fancy pizza joints and reviewers so love to sing praises about. It's burnt. Pizza is not supposed to be black on the crust because it tastes like crap. Especially if you have good, not great pizza (but it still sucks on great pizza). Service varies but is usually pretty nice and attentive. No issue there. read more

The devils kriek was good but nothing beats the flavor of Reiner cherries in the tahoma kriek. Tahoma is in bottle tho. Freakin' awesome pizza. Not cheap, but worth every penny (unlike the touristy, pricey and not anywhere nearly as good "sizzle" place; actually, when I first hit the Burnside sizz location as an out-of-towner myself, I saw a young women waiting in line there w/a box of voodoo donuts. THAT touristy). Anybody can put yummy stuff on top of whatever dough, it's the dough that is the thing. Double Mountain's is perfect: thin, charred and crunchy -- but not too crunchy -- at the edges with a perfect chew, then deliciously damp and floppy at the center point. Could NOT be better. 5hen to wash it down: I'm a stout guy (both in beer and shape) and am frequently PO'd at bars with two dozen or more nearly identical tasting light beers -- lagers, pilsners, ipas, stupid Rainer, all that coorsy piss -- and completely lacking in anything with a nice round bitter creamy feel. And yes, many of those bars always try to pawn off a porter on us stout folks, a porter being little more than a stout that someone poured a half a glass of water inti. IF they do have a stout, it's inevitably been strained through a barrel of Quaker oats and a half-eaten peanut butter and Hershey's sandwich. But Double Mountain has TWO, count 'em two, very good stouts on tap, both served without a muddled freaking Snickers bar. I'm partial to the very boozey (12.something%) Prince Valium. Actually wish it were less alcoholy, but it's so good! The other one, the name of which I forget (prob cuz of the Prince Valium alco content), is also good but, to me, not as rich as the PV. Since the booze content is so high, they do a limited pour, I'm guessing around 12oz, instead of a full pint, and they serve it in a froofy wine-type glass, which just looks wrong for a nice stout. Next time I'll ask them to give me the short pour in a pint glass that will look like I've already taken a couple hits off. Appearances count. read more

This is a mixed review, really wanted to split this into a 2-star section and a 4 star section. I'd give these guys 2 stars for service. The joint was maybe a third full, but looked staffed up for a full house. Was promptly seated and waited five minutes to place my drink order. The server asked if I'd be ordering food, which I affirmed. Lots and lots of staff walk by, the joint is still less than half-full, but no drink or order was taken. Finally the beer arrives over ten minutes later, and the surly waitress took my order. After the pizza arrived there was never any follow up to verify all was good or to refill my water. Grrrr. All in all I was really soured on the staff, but in the end a busboy or not-too-busy server cheerfully came to the rescue when I spilled my water. Kudos to him, maybe the other staff can take note. The beer was pretty good, being Double Mountain and all. The pizza was pretty good too, though only about 90% of the flavor and char you get at the Hood River location. I've heard the quality of the pies is steadily rising, probably as a result of it being made in a different kitchen and microclimate, so there's gonna be a learning curve in the new place. All in all I'd recommend this place, despite the service, as it beats a drive to Hood River and back! read more

This place is legit, never had a single issue here. Wood fired pizzas are amazing. Beer selection is great and all the brews are top notch. I typically stick to IPAs but even their Kölsch is super tasty. The servers are very pleasant and attentive and they are always rocking awesome classic vinyl on the turntables behind the bar. Great addition to the neighborhood. I love DM beer and food. Been going to the HR locale for years and was ecstatic that they opened a brewpub near my house. HOWEVER, went in today and was drinking their "Eleven" barleywine. Good stuff for sure, heavy with etoh but not too sweet--13.2 ABV! I had two (at 3 in the afternoon) and ordered a 3rd. The manager (I assume, politely said they had a two drink max on the "Eleven." ). My question: What the fuck is this? A good zin has got 13. Most spirits have 40 by volume. I was quiet and polite---and, importanly, not inebriated. Is this a brewery in Portland? or a fuckng "Chili's"? Great brewery, great food....don't fuck it up. Let your staff tell people when they have had enough (to be sure I was encouraged to have a different beer). read more

I had high hopes for this new addition to the neighborhood. Unfortunately, everything was mediocre at best. The restaurant itself made us feel like we were dining at an Applebee's in a small Midwest state. The music was annoying and was bad enough that we assumed it was on rotation because it is royalty free. We tried five beers and only really liked one of them. The food was the best part of the dining experience (as it should be) but I wouldn't say it is better than the average Portland restaurant. The menu is extremely limited. Our server was OK but the service overall isn't that great. They don't turn over tables fast enough. We waited for about an hr and at one point, we stared at an empty table for 20 minutes before they seated anyone at it. There were also other empty tables that needed to be cleaned. You'd think that it would be a priority, especially if you have a lot of people waiting to be seated. We ordered our pizza with less char. It came out burnt - half the crust was black. We all got sandwiches. Food was fine. The homemade root beer was excellent. Service was fine, it was mid week, they weren't that busy. My only complaint is... "A Hot Pastrami and Swiss... w/Saurkraut and Thousand Island on Rye" Its a Reuben ok. You can call it Reuben, its ok that its pastrami, you call it a Pastrami Reuben. It doesn't matter if the rye is light or dark or seeded or not, or even marbled. East Side puts onions and pepperoncini peppers on theirs, and they still call it a Reuben. At Goose Hollow you can get a Turkey Reuben! My server knew it was a Reuben, so whoever decided to not call it a Reuben on the menu is just, I don't know, I hesitate to call people names, but seriously, its a freaking Reuben. read more

Came here after a dissatisfaction with another brewery. Prompt service at the bar, wonderful selection of beer and cider. Pizza was thin and foldable, sauce tasted of fresh tomatoes. Hubby had a greek salad and said it was good but his carnivore wanted some meat in the greek salad. Maybe next time we can make an addition. Bartenders were very nice and on top of tending to the patrons. Will come back again to enjoy their food and atmosphere. read more
