I will always recommend Double Daves. I have been eating here since I was in high school back in the 80s... I crave those pizza rolls and since they're not up in the Dallas area except for way north, I get them every time I go through Bryan! Collage station or Austin. I always get like a whole dozen because they easily package in the black bags and you can freeze them and then thaw them in the air fryer or microwave. But if you do in the microwave, don't do them over a minute they get tough. They always come with their own ranch sauce and I highly recommend them that way by packaging them. It allows me to save them longer since I don't live in town. If you live in town, remember Tuesdays are half price pepperoni rolls... 2 years ago, they had real ranch dressing on the buffet, and I hope they bring it back. Last time I was there it was the bottled soybean oil type of ranch, which is not that bad, but I definitely prefer the type made from real milk of some sort. I've always had a good experience with Double Dave's pizza their pizza is always on point. Was in town for training and a co worker and I decided to get some pizza. I walked in and there was a kid that looked like he was in Junior high behind the counter. Walked up to the register and was looking at the menu decided to order a meat pizza can't remember the specific name but it had meat. I totally forgot to check the specials menu on the board when you walk in, but I don't think it would have helped the kid anyway. The kid seemed like it was his first day completely lost. I ordered and he asked it I wanted just cheese? Lmfao I told him no I wanted the meat one like I ordered withsome pizza rolls and a Ceasars salad. I paid and my buddy ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwich mind you we ordered right after each other. I went and got a seat i waited and my salad never came out i went and asked the kid if i wqs suppose to serve myself at the salad abr and he looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my forehead lmfao. He then said yea I think. I proceeded to make myself a house salad and take it to my table. A short time later my pizza came out and I started to wat and offered my buddy a slice which he declined. I had almost finished my meal and kept seeing other people getting their orders and they had come in after us. He walked up to the counter and asked about the sandwich they said it would be a few minutes mind you it was already 30min later cause he checked his watch from the time we came in. Awesome crust. Plenty of pizza sauce so it wasn't dry. Great toppings. Served up piping hot. We got two pizzas and loved every single bite. Order time to our table was about 12-16 minutes so worth it and not too long. The crust makes the pizza and the fact that they made it with sufficient sauce and cheese meant it was t too doughy. Once I figured this out, I asked my delivery driver if she could have the store remake my order and I would just go to the store and get them on my own. Part of the Aggieland four food groups with the Burgers at the Dixie Chicken, C&J Barbecue, and Wings N More. Worked at two locations in BCS back in the late 90's. The local radio station (forget the name) used to play 10 o'clock Metallica. At closing it was "Enter Sandman" and mop the floors. Two hours before open, we would make Peproni Rolls (up to 700 a rack), race-fold pizza boxes, make ranch and red sauce 50 gallons at a time, and screw up the pizza dough if it was off 10 degF. Football players like Dan Campbell and Dat Nguyen used to clear out the lunch buffet. Starter Jackets and Fatboy Slim. Twofer Tuesdays. Wild Wooly Wednesdays. "Pizza Olympics" store vs store. Good times. Dave was an Aggie, the first managers were Aggies, the first location was on George Bush Drive beside where Aggieland Outfitters is now. 100% Aggie. This is what makes locations in Waco and Austin so amusing to me. Niche used to be pizza and beer. They used to have beer tour plaques if you drank a certain amount. They still have 3 or 4 beer taps, but not like the old days with premium craft choices. First place I had Chimay Red, Duvel, and Spaten Optimator. The plaques are still on the walls at a few locations. I have sought out Double Dave's in places as far as Midland, Denton, and Norman Oklahoma. Sometimes I have to have my Peproni Roll fix. (Yes it is spelled that way, an 8 year old years ago pointed that out to me) I am obviously biased, but the buffet is excellent, the Rolls are legendary, and the Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli is the stuff of dreams. read more

One of my favorite pizza places in a town with very few good pizza places. The meat eater is amazing the salad bar is very good when it's fresh. My only complaint is that I really miss the buffet. I read your reply to an earlier comment about the buffet. I get it. I appreciate the difficulty of running a buffet, and this is another casualty of Covid, sadly. But I do miss getting to eat a variety of pizza, rolls and Stromboli. Plus, the dessert pizzas were unbelievable! Your Boonville location was a staple for my family for 20 years, as we loved the kids eat free feature on Sundays after church. we still make a visit there occasionally, but the loss of the buffet was very disappointing. The worst place ever. Ordered pizza rolls. When I got home I opened the box. To my surprise they all the pizza rolls are burned and hard. When we called Double Dave's thhey claimed that's the way they look when they are fresh out. But not true. We have ordered from there before and they didn't look like the way they did today. AVOID ! Very very slow delivery. Pizza arrived cold The Italian salad which costs $7.00 is a joke. Just a bunch of sliced olives on a bed of lettuce. No tomatoes or anything. After the delivery time that they quoted had passed, I received a call from the manager to clarify the order. They finally sent it out. Ok, so for the FIRST time ever!!! We order from this business. We order yadda, yadda, yadda and a "well done" large pizza. We also order 20 oz sierra mist and a 20 oz diet DP. The yadda yadda they got right (a single item) the "well done" was completely wrong unless ALL other options include icey crust. But when they made the delivery they left out our drink order all together... huh? But when we called to let them know we were interrupted with, "the driver realized your drink order was left off also and is on the way back to deliver your drinks." Ok, cool! An hour later... no one has shown up here with ANYTHING! Soooo we call back. And the response... "apparently the driver had TWO orders in which the drinks were left out." Now we paid for the drinks, they realized the drinks were not delivered and APPARENTLY CHOSE TO JUST LET IT GO!!! but we called again, right! So they did make the delivery... New to double daves not what I expected. 18 bucks for medium pepperoni pizza, one trip salad bar, one adult and one child drink. Pizza comes to you at your table in a box. Salad bar missing items, you have to get your own plates. Every employee seemed too busy to help you. This was at 5pm on a Tuesday only 6 other customers in the entire store. Wednesday night buffet--My wife works late 6:30-7:00, but we figured DD was still serving buffet until 9:00. My mistake-they quit adding anything but cheese and pepperoni after 7:00 and also just thick crust. When we arrived there were about a dozen people in the store so I thought we would probably see several(?) fresh pizzas come out. Most of what was out looked and tasted as if it had been there awhile. In the 45 minutes that we were there three pizzas were put out-a cheese thick crust, a pepperoni thick crust and a thin crust dessert which was hot. These were put out as we were ready to leave. Initially my wife and I went to get drinks, being diabetic my choice is unsweetened ice tea. By the time my wife almost filled her cup the dispenser was empty. I asked the woman who took our $19.00 if she could get the tea refilled. Nothing happened. One of the men in back walked by about 10 minutes later so I asked him to refill. Two men came out took the dispenser in back and reinstalled it. I went over to refill my cup---nothing. They forgot to turn it on. We have been to this location three times, once was ok the other was similar to this experience. Just to let management know we will not be back. 33% is a failing grade at any school. read more

The food here is actually really good, the problem is when you come to the buffet and ask for them to make a special pizza that's not currently on the buffet they will literally ignore you every single time unless you follow up with them 3-4 times. I've been to multiple DoubleDave's and this one takes the cake for worst customer service. Pretty sad too considering they started in the BCS and the customer service is still this poor where they began.
