It's a very large property, and serves many purposes and hosts many events. It's a great resource that our city is very lucky to have. There are gardens and research facilities here associated with LSU, there are historical buildings and artifacts from Louisiana, then there are forests and wetlands, these are linked by roads and hiking trails. There's lots to see, and there are various events to participate in. One of these events is the new Louisiana Lights Festival which is a holiday-themed light show. It's impressive already and it's just getting started. Each year will bring more to this event! Another great event is the fall festival with its corn mazes, petting zoos, hay rides, and other fall fun activities. There are different events throughout the year, one need only check the website to be informed. There's really something for everyone here, from agriculture, horticulture, children's playgrounds, hiking, history, or just a place to have a picnic, this facility is there to meet the needs of the community. It's something that our residents and visitors should be aware of and utilize!

Besides just looking at nature or going on a nature walk for free, there are several events that take place here regularly. Junior League has a kid-friendly event under the outdoor the gazebo each month, there is the Louisiana Lights event in December, and a corn maze in Oct. This place is huge! There is a meeting place, which is easily accessible when you pull in. There are also places to stop and sit and go to the restroom. A great place to explore!!

The Guru is a great event space located at the amazing Circa 1857 complex. It's tucked away toward…read morethe middle of the overall campus so it's conveniently located by the large interior parking area. This parking is off road, very large, fenced, and seems quite safe. The space itself is surrounded by other buildings and is medium sized. In keeping with the name, there are meditative motifs to the interior decorations. This space seems quite versatile, our group used the round tables with nice table cloths and folding chairs to enjoy a potluck and then hold a meeting. The space could be kept entirely open, used for talks or lectures, or ay sort of party. There are overhead doors on one wall that presumably could be opened for an indoor/outdoor event. Circa 1857 has such a great location on Government Street right be the Garden District, that it would be a convenient place to have a meeting or event. So don't hesitate to consider The Guru for your next gathering!

The owner is very sweet and you can tell she truly wants to provide a unique event space at a reasonable price. Another thing I loved about The Guru was being able to bring in your own food. It was hard for me to find a venue that let me bring my own food but also had the right #aesthetic lol! I didn't even decorate the place because it already done. They provided me with the tables (high top, circle, & rectangle), chairs, and even have linens available. There are 2 bathrooms and a back room where you can have your food/buffet set up. They even have this really awesome bar cart that my bartender was able to use! It can double for a beverage/food station too. (You know I added plenty of pics :P ) This is an extra bonus but I recently learned they also can host meetings, interview recordings, and more so it's not just for parties or weddings. On top of that, learning that the owner works to give back to the community/non profits is heartwarming. If you need an intimate, "not too big but just right" space, give this place a look!
