These donuts are not all the great, they're not horrible, but just nothing special. The donuts are so thick and doughy, meaning too thick with some having just topping on top and the ones that are supposed to have stuff inside do not have much in there. You just chew and chew these donuts. They are very heavy and not light at all. I will give you they are not oily, which is a good thing, but also not moist and soft. The flat donut crisp with cinnamon sugar is very good though, we liked those very much, I would go back for them but not the donuts. Service was nice and quick and it is a cute little shop. Pretty solid option for doughnuts in Astoria. Dough Doughnuts have more of a bread-like texture rather than your typical doughnut, but they were actually pretty tasty and soft to chew. They were also fresh and very pillowy. And, they're huge! One doughnut is definitely enough for one person or even more. The store was offering a limited edition Ube Cheesecake Doughnut, which had the perfect amount of filling and sweetness. I also chose a Strawberry Doughnut and the frosting was very reminiscent of strawberries and didn't have an artificial flavor. However, I think I'll be making trips here every once in a while, as the price for one doughnut can be expensive. Not my cup of tea to spend $5+ for only one doughnut. Also the store is a bit small and doesn't have seating - more of a grab-and-go place, though they have a bench outside. I find the reviews here interesting, especially when this place is called "Dough" clearly they specialize in just that. But ehh that's just my 2cents and we all have different expectations. I respect it! I happen to love this place and I'm so happy they've finally made it to Queens, because those drives to Manhattan and/or Brooklyn were a bit much. What keeps me coming back is how doughy the donut is. They have a variety of unique toppings like Dulce De Leche, Lemon Blueberry, Cheesecake and Hibiscus. They also have your standard donut flavors like Cinnamon Sugar, Glaze and Chocolate. Vegan? Well you're in luck as they offer Cinnamon Sugar and Hibiscus as vegan options. My favorite happens to be Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because their social media (Instagram) advertises holiday specials and says "available at all locations", but when I get to Astoria they advise me it wasn't brought to their location. Let me be clear the staff here are extremely friendly and this is not at all their fault, but when my mouth is watering for something and I go to get and it's not there it's HUGE let down. Good donuts are a lot harder to find these days. Dough has some excellent offerings for those that wander through their doors. The shop is bright and clean right off a busy corner of Ditmars Boulevard. The donuts here are very large so that's a big plus. We got the nutella, blueberry lemonade, glazed and passionfruit with cacao nibs. The blueberry lemonade donut was pretty good although it didn't really taste like blueberry or lemonade (more of a floral taste). The donut was fresh but a tad denser than expected. Prices are a tad high (5 bucks a donut) but the size I think makes up for it since they're easily double your average donut. This isn't your krispy kreme (which was on the next block) or other sugar, shaped into a donut. Yes there is depth to their flavors. I wanna start this review by saying that the customer service is really great!! I felt very welcomed and the nice lady helped me decide which donuts to get. It's a very small shop with no indoor seating but they have a couple tables outside. Each donut is $4.50 which is a little pricey but the same price for a chip cookie plus the donuts are HUGE. I think it's a little funny that they advertise "you can get 4 donuts for $18" like it's a deal but that's just how math works... The donuts were a little disappointing. The inside is very cakey and thick which I didn't expect because the donut felt really light and spongy. I want Krispy Kreme lightness in my donuts and these were too bread like for my preference. They are also very sweet. I got the mocha almond crunch which has a chocolate glaze and the original glazed. Both reminded me of bakery donut sweetness and not really balanced. Dough finally comes to Astoria! I was there about a half hour before they opened and was 7th in line. By the time the doors opened the line went down the street and around the corner. The owner was there welcoming people, and the first 500 customers get a free shirt with purchase of 6 or more doughnuts. They're a bit on the expensive side, $4.50 apiece, but they are pretty big doughnuts, so you do get a lot for your money. They have a wide variety of flavors, though I noticed that all of them were plain dough, aka none made with chocolate batter, which was a bit of a disappointment. The glazes are decent (lemon poppy and blueberry were quite good), but it's not a donut in my humble, perfect-donut-seeking opinion. This most recent time however, I stopped them in time, and told them that a bag would suffice. (They were apparently going to put my two NON-jelly donuts, each into their own plastic containers. Oy!) Really, there is NO NEED for a single donut to be put into an individual plastic container, except perhaps in the instance of a (leaky/oozing) jelly donut. Businesses such as yours really need to try and set an example. If you are looking for thick donuts that are very filling and also has a lot of filling then Dough is for you. Their donuts are definitely something that you'd want to split with someone because eating one alone might feel like you're eating two donuts. That might be a plus for some. This specific location is small but it's nice and clean and in a good area. I visited in the late afternoon and I will say most of the donut flavors were pretty much gone but I was lucky enough to get a decent variety. I don't usually write bad reviews, but these were the worst donuts and bombolone I've ever had in my life. First of all they say the bombolone is with Nutella, but they are not using Nutella it's some kind of fake chocolate where you only taste sugar. Secondly, the jam in bombolone is so artificial and sweet that it makes it impossible to eat. Thirdly, the dough is so dry and distasteful.
