These pizzas are even better because they arent leftovers but are sold by the slice pizzas that have already been prepared and then reheated like new. The best food is sometimes the simplest and this place offers exactly just that! The prices are cheap and the staff here are all friendly. It is kind of like the style of Costco pizzas for those who know how good Costco pizzas are this is just as consistent and mouth watering delicious. Im wondering if the reason they taste so good is because they serve it to you so hot off the press it borders your mouth being burned just right that you want to eat it before the pizza slice has cooled off. Space and seating is limited as the format is that of a snack bar and they only have 2 tables outside and some bar chairs inside, so be prepared to eat while standing or have your car nearby to eat while parked because definitely you will want to eat it there is case you have room for another extra slice! read more

Been excited for this one since I heard the quiet whispers of a new pizza spot by the proprietor of R Town that was taking an east coast approach. I cannot speak about the authenticity of how good the gabagool is compared to the finest slices in the Bronx. But I will tell you the food is all amazing. I knew more items were coming. I waited because I wanted to enjoy it all! Between visits I have to say, everything was delicious and I'll be back here several times. First note is the white pie is in a realm of its own. Super simple and simply unforgettable. The whipped ricotta and lemon is just a dynamic duo. I stopped by again once they had their fries/wings and knots. Let me tell you if you're a garlic fiend or scared of vampires the triple garlic is fantastic and will definitely lap vampires at bay. Their fries are thick but have a nice battered crunch to them. The wings were huge and delicious. The knots were pillowy and fantastic. They also have salads which I tried some of a friends and it's been a while since I had that nostalgic pizza place salad. They also have a unique lineup of bottled sodas and cheesecake for dessert provided by The Recipe Box which is another favorite food spot of mine. They just recently added a cannoli type dessert which I have not had but I assume is just as great as everything else here. If you're up for a family hangout or a classic date night they're attached to Press Start which is an arcade with a bar inside that always rotates an awesome lineup of beverages that you can pair with any of the pizza and other items here. The pizza spot itself is small and more of a grab and go setup, they do have a small wrap around counter. You're more than welcome to eat on the patio or at the tables inside the arcade. Quick service, great food! I love the counter service vibe. I didnt expect to like the lemon side, but i really did find it enjoyable! I probably wouldn't order it personally, but it was very... springy?! Haha fresh and light. The deli side was delish. Sometimes a "meatzza" has too much in one bite, this had its toppings nicely ratiod. Great ingredients here. Dough was soft and crunchy on the crust. Have been blown away every time I've dined at R Town, so I went into Dough Cheese Sauce with high expectations and they were still exceeded!! We got a full pie of Gabagool and it was delicious! They were slammed in there as well, so I'm glad that we ordered online, I would recommend it if you're trying to get a whole pizza. The vegan hot honey was very interesting! It doesn't exactly taste like honey, it's got more of a vinegar taste to it, but it still went great on a slice. The parking situation can be a little difficult down there but it is midtown so, that's how it is. But there is a small parking lot and lots of surrounding street parking. read more

Pretty quick service for a long line after a downtown music festival. It's New York style pizza with an option of slices or full pies. If you get a slice it is reheated. I got the classic and the pizza of the month but this was in the last hour of business so it honestly wasn't very good. Definitely would have to retry for a whole pie or come earlier when the slices are more fresh. Really enjoyed the drink selection and the whole vibe of the place. I was stoked to try this pizza when I learned the owner of R Town was behind it! While I love his Detroit style, I also love a good New York style slice. I thought the quality and flavor were excellent! We were even given an extra slice because they decided one of our was too small - great service! I'm excited to see what menu items they add later. The space is quite small, but I like that. It's nice to have a spot in town, that's walkable, to pop in for a quick slice, especially open a little later on the weekends. Midtown is missing that. Great crust, no flop, definitely an artisanal pizza. Has lots of different flavors. Really good cheese, not too saucey, I think it could use more or have a stronger flavor, but maybe that's to prevent flopping. Toppings are really high quality, great meats and veg. The cold ricotta is a great contrast to the hot pizza, but gotta eat it fresh to prevent melting. The lemon pizza is worth trying. The red sauce pizzas I have tried seemed a little too similar, but still really great. Also had a pesto slice, and again I think it could have a stronger pesto sauce flavor since I really like pesto. Overall, still a great pizza. Not strong on the sauce, but awesome crust, cheese and toppings, it's very artisanal. Definitely worth a try, see if this is your kind of pizza. read more

The White Pie was everything I could've dreamed of, fresh and bright flavors, perfect lemon slice baked in, ricotta melted tying all the flavors together. Pizza by the slice NY style! Big 18" pies. They will have wings and other apps in the future. This is the second pizza concept from Marvin of R-Town Pizza, featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. The "White Pie" is olive oil, mozzarella, shaved lemon, ricotta and black pepper. This is the winner, it will make your toes curl. The Gabagool uses a mix of artisan ingredients and was our second favorite. They use the cupping pepperoni. Every slice has been a chef's kiss! The official opening is on the 30th of March. Came here on a Friday night. Was nervous with the Blues Brews festival, that would be crowded, nope. Plenty of parking spots, very chill vibe inside and friendly staff. Pricing is excellent for a slice ($5.20 for pepperoni) Cooked fast and HOT. Tasted amazing, and ranch was unique. Teriyaki wings came with green onions on them, fyi if you don't like those. New York style pizza is my favorite so I've been excited to try this. The restaurant is casual with counter service and a few tables inside and in front of the restaurant and I would imagine it's going to be more popular for takeout. Service was prompt and friendly. All the pizzas looked good and love that you can buy by the slice. We had pepperoni, the midtown and white pie. The white pie was amazing, loved the midtown but the pepperoni was too greasy for me. However I liked the spice level of the pepperoni. We also had a salad, wings with peach bbq and the brown butter knots. Salad and wings were both very good-just wish the knots had been baked longer but I put in the air fryer at home for a few minutes and they were really good. I haven't been able to get in and try this place until today. I placed a pickup order and was notified at the estimated time that my pizza was ready. The staff was friendly and vibing and knew exactly what my order was when I gave them my name, prior to even grabbing the order. They handed it over and made sure everything was as ordered before we even took the order off the counter. I don't know if I've ever had a "perfect" pizza, but holy smokes, they nailed it. We enjoyed a whole pie of the Classic, as well as the triple garlic brown butter knots. The crust was chewy, sauce robust, and toppings exceptional (you can't go wrong with cup n char pepperoni!). If you like garlic, the knots provide the same quality, chewiness as the pizza crust with loads of garlic. This will be on rotation just as often as the owner's other knockout Detroit-style pizza spot, R Town Pizza. Small pizza shop next to the Press Start arcade. It was quite busy with a line at the register and many waiting for their pizza. I ordered a Brighton slice which is sausage, pepperoni, and ricotta. The wait was a little long, taking a little over 20 minutes, but the customer service was friendly despite coping with the rush. It was a good slice, I think the ricotta detracted from it a little bit, but great ingredients and flavor. Most slices are good value and hover around $4-6, a great pairing with the arcade. I was really excited for this one. I've watched what they built at R Town over time and it turned into one of my favorite spots in Reno. Service improved a lot, NA selection is always strong, and the pizza there has been consistently great. So when I heard they were opening a sliceria in the neighborhood, I was all in. They took a bit longer than expected to open which I actually thought was a good sign. More time to dial things in. Stopped in and here's where I landed. The fundamentals are there. Ingredients are high quality, dough has good potential, and service was excellent. But the biggest issue was the bake. The slices were a bit undercooked. Not just preference, it lacked the structure and finish you want. That immediate crisp, set, cohesive bite just wasn't there, which really holds everything back. Style-wise, this is not East Coast slice pizza. If that's what you're expecting, it's not that. It leans more West Coast. Think Tony's, Apollonia, Pizza Rock. A bit more composed, a bit more intentional. But even within that lane, execution just wasn't fully there yet for me. Nothing bad. Just not hitting the way you want when you're standing there eating a slice. That said, I believe in what they're doing. The base is strong, and if the bake gets dialed, this could be a really solid neighborhood spot. I'll definitely be back. read more

OK, I am a pizza snob. I would sooner not have pizza than have a bad one. I still mourn the day True New York Pizza closed. That was a loss Reno still hasn't fully recovered from. That said... Dough Cheese Sauce is legit. It has risen to become the best pizza in Reno. Is it perfect? No. But right now, it's the best we've got, and that matters. I usually base my pizza ratings on one thing: a plain cheese pie. If you can't make a great cheese pizza, you can't make anything else great. It's the foundation. This was actually the first time I ordered a second slice to go along with it -- the white pizza. I'll get to that. The cheese pie: the cheese is good, the sauce is good, although I think the sauce could use a little more seasoning and spice. The biggest thing holding it back from greatness is the crust. Just like the bread can make or break a sandwich, the crust can make or break a pizza. The dough needs a little more life -- more air bubbles, a little more structure, and mostly another 3-4 minutes in the oven. I will request that next time. The current bake is right where you'd expect for a slice shop pie, especially one designed to be reheated before serving. But for a fresh whole pie, it needs just a little more time to reach that next level. Now, the white pie. I ordered this almost as an appetizer because I knew the cheese pie was going to take the 15 minutes they told me it would. They said I would get a text when it was ready. I didn't. (More on that later.) The white pie was stellar. The addition of lemon? Brilliant. It sounds simple, but it completely changes the flavor profile and cuts through the richness perfectly. I let my wife try it, even after she told me she was full. Two big bites later, I think that review spoke for itself. Interestingly, the extra reheating the slice got actually solved some of the crust issue I mentioned above. That little extra oven time made a noticeable difference. Now, the part they need to fix. I waited the expected 15 minutes for the text saying the order was ready. Nothing. Twenty minutes... still nothing. It was lunch time, so I gave them some grace. Twenty-five minutes. Thirty minutes. Thirty-five minutes later, I finally went back inside. "Oh, here you are..." The pizza was sitting there. What should have been a hot pizza -- the kind where you immediately take a bite and have to blow on the roof of your mouth so you don't burn yourself -- was not. It was still good, but this is the part of the system that needs attention. If you're telling customers they'll get a text when it's ready, that timing matters. Fresh pizza is a very time-sensitive thing. In the end, I gave it 5 stars. Not 4. Would I have liked to give it a 4.5 or 4.75? Absolutely. And those would round up to 5 anyway. Because even with the things that need tweaking, this is the best pizza Reno has right now -- and I'll happily go back. read more

Amazing pizza! Not about of seating, but worth the stop in and pick up even. Some of the best pizza I've had. We visited on a weekend evening and ordered the classic and the gabagool. Both were hot, fresh, cheesy and delicious. We only waiting about 20 min for the order. It's connected tot he arcade next door in case your group want an activity to go along with the pizza. Some small inside eating places in the arcade as well, just a bit noisy. read more

We finally got to try the new Dough Cheese Sauce Pizza and it was amazing! This was takeout through DoorDash and it was still amazing. We got the Midtown, absolutely delicious. So nicely crafted with the light chewy texture of the crust, delicious sausage that must be house made and thinly sliced olives truly a step above other pizza joints. While not truly a New York style pizza, it is one of the best pies in the Reno/Sparks area. You can order by the slice, or get one of their humongous 18" pizzas. We ordered The Midtown to go, but had to share a slice on the drive home. My wife and I couldn't wait to have another slice. The toppings were delicious and the pizza was cooked to perfection. What added to the experience was the greeting we got when we entered their small, but nicely decorated store. The pies are big enough to feed at least four very hungry people.
