I'm all about supporting small businesses and have been to Dough twice. The first was to get a couple of glazed twist donuts which were really good but cost me close to $11 for two. I understand rising costs, but charging more than $5 for a donut is just ridiculous. This morning, I stopped by to see if they had hard boiled eggs. The cashier up front wasn't sure so asked the man in the back (presumably the owner) who said he didn't have any fresh ones, but did have two that were cold. I told him that was fine and paid $6.46 plus $1.00 tip for two eggs. Again, ludicrous price for two eggs! I got to my office and went to crack and eat my eggs. Imagine my surprise when they were both cracked and completely frozen. To the owner - cold does not mean frozen! What a complete joke this place is. I'll never support them again. An pretty good pastry place. Came here to grab some Donuts. They use the Square cash/credit-card register which is nice. Inside is kept clean, despite being located on Market street :) There were quite a few number of customers there, so this place is somewhat popular. The donuts tasted ok. Kind of what you expect. It's been a while since I've been back in THIS part of S.F. and I missed this place! I already knew that anything I get is going to be as good as it gets and I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. Sounds simple, but it's not. To make fresh bread and fresh donuts every day, you need to be up at 3 a.m. to prepare all that is Dough! Alright? Then, the chef, who is the owner, has plenty of hand crafted recipes to delight the toughest critic. There's never a doubt. It's a five, every single time I've come here! I've reached out to them on social media however got no response and I forgot to confirm with them in person. It's been a couple of years since I've returned. I noticed they no longer offer special donut flavors such as ube or durian anymore. However their donuts is still very good. The Apple fritter at $3.50 is huge! I could only eat half of it at first and saved the other half for later in the day. Loved the crispy exterior and moist center with bits of caramelized apple bits. Was working around the corner from here looking for a latrine for my helper. We stumbled upon this place and saw they were open fairly early so we went in. The interior very standard with a few screens, not ran down at all and not over the top.. The flavor selection was limited but they have 2 different density types. Hb wanted to try this place for a while now. He also wanted me to get him the special donuts, but given how busy I'm lately, I only got us pizza. For delivery. He likes it. So do I but I'm off carbs, so I only took one bite of the pizza crust (for research purposes ;) and ate toppings only. It was delicious. I wouldn't mind getting it for us again sometime in the future. My only critique for the business is that they should seal the pizza box for delivery orders. Ours came without any safety seal. I'm so pissed! I had been wanting to try donuts from this shop for a while now so I went last Friday to try them out. With a name like dough, I thought they had a big selection of donuts. I was wrong. They had a small selection but I decided to buy a few donuts since I was there. It came out to $20 with tip which for me is a bit pricey for average donuts but oh well it is what it is. Fast forward to today as I was going over my recent charges on my bank app when I see that they've charged me $30! I thought I was seeing things. Keep in mind I ordered several donuts. Nothing crazy. If I'm somehow wrong which I'm pretty sure I'm not $5 for a donut is crazy work. Especially when there's nothing special about them. Just regular run of the mill raised and cake donuts. I tried calling them but an answering machine picked up and it's full and since they close at 2pm I won't be able to go back until Friday. Bottom line, is that I didn't get a receipt since I did the transaction through an iPad and to be honest I never thought something like this would happen. Needless to say I'll never darken their doorstep again not to mention the donuts were mid if even that. I'll take my butt to my favorite shop, Jelly Donut on 24th and South Vanness. Doughlighful place, sorry, it just came to me. Love Dough on Market. This is one fantastic place for donuts. And YES, they offer a few vegan options which couldn't make me happier. Would I love them more if they offered more than just two cake donut options (plain and cinnamon sugar), yes, yes I would. But I'm not complaining here. Even though the vegan options are few, the cake donuts themselves are great & even better dipped in coffee. It probably helps that I've always loved cake donuts even as a child but these are pretty amazing. They obviously offer a great variety of traditional donuts that are not vegan and they have great coffee too. The store is alway clean with plenty of seating and easy access from the street. The people working at Uber are so lucky to have a place like this right next to their SF office! It's located on busy Market street, so parking may be an issue. I got the old-fashioned donut, a chocolate-glaze donut, and a coffee. They say a true measure of a donut shop is the quality of their basis donuts. The old-fashioned donut was pretty sweet on its own, but paired well with the coffee. I wish they had those stirrer-stopper things to prevent any coffee spillage during transit. I ended up saving the chocolate donut for a day after, and its integrity remained intact- this place has pretty good dough-nuts *badum ts*. I tried their mango strawberry tequila glaze donut and their chocolate donut. Both were fluffy and delicious. I was looking at this place somewhat bemused since I was wondering what the difference was between the doughnuts here and the ones at the All Star Cafe around the corner. I figured it out. Fifty cents. Not the rapper. That was the price difference. A doughnut here costs $1.75 and $1.25 over there. Plus this place is next to Uber's HQ where the hipster engineers hung out as they spilled out onto the sidewalk. Would they hang out at All Star? Not that I've noticed. Funny thing was that this Dough has nothing to do with the Dough that's in NYC where they made exceptional doughnuts, big yet lighter than you'd expect (review: http://bit.ly/2Szi9Y9). The star of the show is hands-down the Asian-inspired glazed donuts. You would never know from the outside that it was anything but a regular donut shop. The glazed donuts are anything but regular. The flavors change and run out quickly so you might as well go in on a daily basis. On my most recent visit, they had Taro/Ube, Red Bean, Durian, and Matcha. I tried the Taro/Ube and Matcha, and the Taro was by far the best. I now want Taro/Ube on all of my donuts from now on. I've also heard the Lychee Glaze is great when they have it. A coworker brought in the ube donuts and I was hooked right away. I don't normally eat donuts but it was so good that I had to leave and get some of their other flavors to try. Ube donut: it's doughy and delicious. Great flavors and not too sweet. So...effin...good!!! The best one so far, a MUST HAVE with coconuts on top. Lychee donut: it's good with a hint of the lychee flavor. I was expecting little bits of lychee in it but there wasn't any. I would still get this but it's not a must have. Durian Glazed Donut: I HAD to get the last two and had high expectations of this one because I LOVE DURIAN but was disappointed. The durian glazed fell off and the donut ending up tasting just like a regular donut. When I heated up the remaining crumbles of the glazed INSIDE the donut to melt it, then I was able to taste the hint of durian. One of my new favorite spots for donuts, dough pockets, and pizza! Their ube donut and their red velvet donut are my two favorites. The flavors are subtle and not too sweet, and the fluffy texture is perfect. I tried the marinara, cheese, and meatball dough pocket (their version of a hot pocket, in pizza dough!) and it was such a satisfying breakfast. Comfort food to the max! They have a large variety of pizzas, so there's a flavor for everyone. I had the brussel sprouts and pancetta version, which was really tasty. The dough here is really good. They're currently in soft opening mode so it's a limited menu but they have a good amount of pizza options, salads, and of course, a fully stocked case of doughnuts. LOVED that the pizza is named after 80s-90s songs and movies: Sade's "Smooth Operator", Salt-N-Pepa's "Push it", Public Enemy's "Fight the Power", and one of my fav movies: "Set It Off". The pizzas are only available 12" whole for $12-$16. No slices available. GF crust (+$3) and vegan cheese available. Most places that are doughnut shops + some savory lunch food usually do a crappy job on the lunch food, but not here. Mary Mary Pizza: Whenever I try a new pizza joint, I get a margherita-like pizza as benchmark. That way I can compare the crust, sauce and cheese without being biased by other toppings. Theirs was pretty solid. Love the high quality simple sauce made from the lovely San Marzano tomatoes. There was a good amount on the areas covered, though I might have preferred if they covered closer to the crust edge. The crust itself was chewy and fluffy and crispy, but not burnt at all. I'm not a huge crust fan, but I appreciated theirs. The cheese was fresh and delicate. A bit skimpy though. Overall, a very tasty lunchtime treat. Red Velvet Doughnut: The cakey kind of glazed doughnut. Maybe the most awesome cakey doughnut flavor I ever had. Red velvet that tasted like a red velvet cake. I devoured this one! Maple Bacon Doughnut: The maple bacon doughnut flavor is no longer novel, but it's still quite tasty. They had nice crispy bacon chunks resting on a fluffy doughnut with a tasty maple glaze. I stopped here to check out their donuts strictly by word of mouth recommendation. It's a good and bad discovery to know that there is a donut shop across the street from my office. These donuts are very fresh and I was lucky to see the cook flipping donuts in the fryer on my visit. The ube donuts caught my eye, a personal favorite. I bought an ube donut with coconut, an plain ube and a banana cake donut. The coconut ube was moist, soft when I cut it in half; it wasn't greasy at all and really had good ube flavor. I am looking forward to trying their other flavors--I read that they offer durian cake donut, so i will keep my eyes open for those. They sell glazed raised versions of the matcha, ube and durian donuts as well. I tried the glazed durian and I wasn't a fan. There's a hint of durian in the glaze, but I really wanted more durian flavor. The donuts are $1.50 for the standard raised, cake & old fashioned donuts; and an additional $0.25 more for the ube, vegan, red velvet. Apple fritters, jelly filled donuts, cinnamon rolls are $2.50. I wish I could give it 3.5 stars, but I'll go with 4 because the main thing (donuts) they advertise is whats best. I have tried their chocolate frosted, glazed, maple donut, and twists. They're all very very good. If you've looked at my profile I review a lot of donut shops. Their frosting they do very well, it's not too thin, when it's thin it gets that hardened chocolate that is unpleasant to eat. The frosting stays soft and is not overwhelming chocolate flavor. The dough itself is very soft and fluffy, I tried a cake one as well and it was still very delicious but I would go for a yeast donut. The cake could be a little more moist. My biggest gripe was the pizza was not cooked properly at all, or the dough was thawed and then refrozen and rethawed. I've made a lot of homemade pizza and when I was younger if I did that the the pizza would turn out like this. (Also if they don't cook it long enough) The crust is very gummy. And uneatable. I was at a conference at South Van Ness West and wanted to take an afternoon break. I strolled along Market Street in the direction of Westfield Mall/the Embarcadero, minding my own business, when I saw this cute outdoor seating and the sign for Dough. My interest was piqued! It's very bright and open and serves more than just doughnuts: they have pizza, salad, coffee, and tea, definitely running the gamut in terms of doughy and non-doughy foods and drinks. My friend and I were walking by on Market St one night I believe last year when we saw this place. Us foodies were curious what this place was and wandered inside to look. Phillip (the owner and very friendly) greeted us. We saw they had ube donuts and he let us know it sells out quick and we needed to get there early in the morning to get one. I then told all my coworkers there's a new donut and pizza shop nearby. My foodie friend at work and I went to lunch one day and she wanted me to take her to the donut shop! I took her and she loved it! Creme brûlée filled donut- a MUST! It has a good amount of filling but it's not too sweet. Pineapple filled donut- a must as well. I like that it's not too sweet and definitely not artificial tasting. Quality ingredients right here and in all their donuts and food! Milk tea donut- subtle milk tea taste. We liked it. Guava filled donut- a MUST! Has a good amount of filling. Hot Cheetos topped donut- I think the one or two donuts on display should have the hot Cheetos.
