I was only supposed to eat half, but after the 1st bite I lost all self control and a proceeded to devour this pillowy soft coconut dream. I smiled as I chewed. Brooklyn Black Out: The perfect chocolate cake doughnut, moist and not too sweet. It reminds me of the a donut I use to love from a popular franchise. It's time for another review. Olivia at the Doughnut Plant in Brooklyn, you reeeeeeeeally don't know how much you made my night. So, after 3 hours of pondering if I should go to this doughnut shop versus another in hopes that I just might get lucky and find a sweet shop that does not have a peanut hazard label on it, I decided to walk to this one. Olivia was the woman who served me, and she was so generous. I must have looked like I was struggling out of the depths of hell with some private internal battle on whether or not to risk the bite; so many places put the peanut caution label just for liability protection, but the products are often fine. But then there's always that time when I let my guard down and the worst happens, with anaphylaxis claiming visitation rights at my doorstep once again. So, after cautioning me about the possibility of peanut cross-contamination, I decided to risk it and bite slowly. And she gifted me the 2 doughnuts I had selected, with very kind words to accompany them. Doughnut Plant just got a regular and loyal customer. It was so kind. Olivia, you were so kind. Today I picked up 3 donuts: Apple Cinnamon Crumble, Brooklyn Blackout, and Vanilla Bean & Blackberry Jam. I've had the latter two before and really really liked them! The Brooklyn Blackout is decadently chocolaty and the Vanilla Bean & Blackberry Jam tastes like an upgraded version of a childhood snack! The Apple Cinnamon Crumble was totally new to me and it was pretty tasty! It wasn't overpoweringly sweet which surprised me because crumbles are usually just flour/oats plus tons of sugar. I was so disappointed. Been dreaming of trying donut planet. Walking past today and realized it was still open so I dropped in. Very limited selection left for the day. So I tried the vanilla chocolate and carrot cake. One bite of the vanilla chocolate and I was done with that one. It just taste like a regular krispy crème donut with a chocolate glaze. It was a little too sweet for my taste and not worth the $4.75. The second donut was a little better as it was a sourdough based donut and more cake like. To celebrate national donut day, I came to Doughnut Plant for my favorite morning combo ever: donut + coffee! as I came in I learned that they were doing a promo and giving a free mini espresso martini donut away with every order so I got my americano and tasty little treat to go! The mini donut was decent especially since it was a freebie and the americano was great. Service was definitely busy with all their orders but when I finally did get some help they were super nice and friendly. It's a very cute shop on the inside and they even have little tables to sit at with a view of Flatbush. Always on the hunt for a good donut shop to go to on the weekends and I have to say this might be my new fave! Came here around 2:30 PM and they still had a good amount of donuts left, some flavors were sold out but they had about half available still. There's seating outside and inside. Water station if needed. Clean interior and no restroom. Workers were all very nice and helpful! My big thing on reviews is service and I really liked the ambiance of the place. Music was at a good level and they're very nice when ordering and when they make the coffee in front of you. I'm a huge fan of doughnut plant, but I just spent $50 on doughnuts and most of them were subpar. My favorite is the coconut creme, but what I purchased barely had coconut creme inside. The dough part was fine, but the creme is what makes this what it is. (Bought 4 of these) I took a chance on the pistachio sourdough and it was the worst doughnut I've ever had; it tasted only of oil and was incredibly greasy. If you've ever had a Chinese dough fritter that goes with congee; it tasted worse than that because you paid 4x the price, got less and it had less flavor. There was no pistachio flavor at all. Don't waste your time in this and I'm disappointed in doughnut plant for rolling out something so terrible at $5 a pop. The only good batch of doughnuts I purchased were the tres leche. Still solid and the only reason why it's a two star instead of a one. I did try a few other doughnuts and they were fine, but not worth the price tag. Overall, very sad that this is their new standard and will only come back for tres leche. read more

Stopped by to try some of the new(?) sourdough donuts around lunchtime. Grabbed a chocolate sourdough + the signature creme brulee and enjoyed them at one of few cafe tables inside. You can definitely taste the sourdough. I'm personally not sold on it due to the density and stronger dough flavor, but I see the appeal. The creme brulee tasted like the real thing in doughnut form, and was much airier and properly scratched the sweet tooth. Groovy day Yelpers! One of the benefits of hanging out in Brooklyn are the cool eating experiences. This spot is really cool because of their innovative donut flavors and awesome coffee drinks. The service is also wonderful. The Asian and white customers were served with respect but when I went to grab my doughnuts, I was asked to show proof over and over again. Even though I checked in with another person behind the counter right before I went ahead to grab my mobile order. We also got one of their canned coffees and that was not bad as well. In total for 2 doughnuts, iced latte and the canned coffee it came out to be about $20. The workers were very friendly there!!! I noticed they had a creme brûlée doughnut as well but it was sold out by the time I went which was a weekend during afternoon times about 3pm. One of my musts when I visit NYC. This little shop on Brooklyn has a variety of cake, yeast, and vegan donuts! Their coffee and teas are great as well. Matcha latte with oatmilk was decent.
