This Douglas burger has no connection at all to the one in Norwalk because I'd taken a look at the Norwalk Douglas burger and ordered based off of that one just to find out they have a completely different menu. A bite brings the char taste along with the vinegar of pickle and some cooling lettuce and tomato. The Jr size is enough for me but the regular will leave you full if you're really hungry. Hubby and I stopped in for a quick breakfast prior to shopping. I had a bacon and egg sandwich on white bread and hubs had a bacon and egg burrito. Breakfast burritos not shown on menu so had to ask for it. The older woman working the counter very roughly let us know yes they have breakfast burritos, but no hash browns. Kinda weird for a burger stand like this to not have hash browns but okay. Lady completed her brusque order taking and we waited for our order. It occurred to me I wanted avocado on my sandwich and was given avocado sauce when I asked for a side. They said they also don't carry sliced avocado, interesting, but no avo burger on menu so I guess that makes sense. The older man who assisted us with this was much kinder than the woman. All in all food was just okay nothing great about it. I wouldn't come running back for breakfast that's for sure. Also, went to the restroom and it smelled very strongly of bleach, also looked like there was still bleach in the toilet itself, so I had to flush first but I guess that's better than the alternative. read more

We came to Douglas Burgers on 10/14/2020 at 7:20 and there was a gentleman who was taking orders at the drive thru line (similar to in n out) and he was SO DAMN NICE! Was in the mood for some "Chili Cheese Fries" and decided that give this place a try. Fries were crisp and chili was very tasty. None of that red chili grease going on. They were topped off with a velveta shredded like cheese on top. It gave it a chessy creaminess, that was pretty good. Also ordered a cheese burger. It unfortunately lacked a lot of flavor and patty was on thin side. The dry bun and lettuce took any possible hint of meat away. Establishment inside was 70's looking but very well kept. The most overrated joint in Whittier. Douglas used to be the best place for non-commercial food, but somewhere along the line they forgot who their customers were. They spent too much money on their overblown menu and the service and food went downhill. Rude, cold service. Way too expensive. Not worth the time it takes to drive through. Douglas is one of those classic burger places that you really can't go wrong with. Food is always consistent and tasty. I don't understand people writing bad reviews for places like this. It's not meant to be gourmet or high end...it's a hamburger stand. Some of these reviews from people on here act as if they're food critics paying hundreds of dollars for a meal. So this is my second time visiting this location. the first time I came here I gave this place four stars and well deserved for their burger and chili cheese fries. But this time around it was early in the morning and I was driving to work so I decided to stop and get a breakfast burrito. At places like these mom and pop burger joints I have a certain expectation and let's say a stereotype on what a breakfast burrito should look like. The norm is a large overly stuffed tortilla filled with egg cheese some type of meat and some type of starch. But to my dismay I ended up with something that seemed like a breakfast quesadilla. I will take partial credit for this misunderstanding since the menu clearly says breakfast burrito bacon, egg, and cheese for $3.99. But like I said in a city filled with breakfast burrito options I had to assume that it would have some form of potato, rice, or beans inside of it. Unfortunately this was not the case and the flavor was also lacking which leads me to give them two stars. Douglas if you read this I would say to give your customers the option for an additional cost of course of adding a starch to their burrito and posting the price on the menu. read more

One of those classic "to go" diner menus that have burgers, pastrami, sandwiches, and i think burritos? Or maybe i'm just assuming because most of the diners in socal serve mexican food as well. Minus one star because they don't have "combos," everything is a la carte so with a sandwich, soda and a side you could easily spend about $15. For this price point, i'd still pick tam's or jim's burgers because at the end of the day not one of these diners shine over the other- they are all equal in taste and grease to me... so i'll go where it's cheaper. This used to be a good place many, many years ago. I just went (Dec 2018) and ordered chili fries. The guy microwaved them! You know what happens to potatoes in a microwave oven...it turns fries into mush. If the chili was hot, the cheese would melt. Obviously, things are not too fresh. What made me leave early was having the old guy come by wiping tables then half of the dining room smelled like his intense B.O. It was bad, I dumped my microwaved food and left.
