Nope! It's considered an outdoor restaurant so masks weren't required nor proof of vaccination

yes all tacos can be made with hand made corn tortillas, sandwiches in gluten free buns, and salads without bread. No we have a tiny kitchen, anything fried has gluten. Mahalo

This is a restaurant that has a couple TV's at the bar. It is in the middle of a small shopping and dining complex and is open air.

Our reservation was for 6:45 pm and it was the perfect time to catch the sunset. For an appetizer, we got the warm ube bread with butter - it was yummy! For my entree, I got the mahi mahi and my husband got the scallops and risotto. We both cleaned our entire plates haha. We couldn't resist dessert and split the warm bread pudding with vanilla ice cream - YUM! Overall we had a wonderful dinner overlooking the ocean. Our server was so kind and even took our picture in front of the sunset! I would definitely recommend trying Mala Ocean Tavern if you are in Maui!

Everything tasted incredibly fresh and the dressing was delicious, though we did hit a few pepperoncini stems, which wasn't a huge deal. Like another reviewer had mentioned, we didn't automatically receive fresh plates after the salad course, but we asked our server and she got them for us right away. For the main event, I ordered the Margherita Classico and my husband chose the Da Kine pizza. The Da Kine definitely packed a lot more flavor than the Margherita Classico! The jalapeños on it were fresh and seriously spicy--our lips and mouths were definitely feeling the heat, but they were so good. While the pizzas were a bit saucy and a little floppy, the crust itself was really good and had a nice, perfect crunch. We wrapped up the evening with the tiramisu, and wow--this was hands down my favorite part of the night! At the end of the night when given 4 credit cards and asked to split 4 ways, she came back and gave us back 4 cards but only split the charge 3 ways. When told there was a mistake, she asked "what do you want me to do about it". She then doubled down on her attitude and was remarkably sarcastic. We did talk to the Manager and to his credit, he came to the table to discuss all that had happened. We do feel bad for the manager as we believe they know they have an issue and he asked that we give them another chance, but this is Maui and none of us live here so it would be a tear until we would be back on island. After she saw us talking to the manager she came back to the table, was condescending and then tried to say she had comped a glass of wine, which she hadn't but was not at all sincere in her words.
