On certain nights they have bingo which is a lot of fun to go play with friends. As for the food, my favorite is the crispy cauliflower which is coated in a slightly spicy Asian sauce. Down the Street is everything you want from a local bar - excellent bartenders slinging expertly crafted cocktails and craft brews in a space that offers both indoor and outdoor comfort. Each day has a different Happy Hour special as well as a set Happy Hour menu. I came on Thursday, which is $8 Moscow Mules - they were awesome! We also snacked on the truffle popcorn (amazing) and the pepperoni pizza (deliciously simple). I will definitely be back! Parking can be tough given that the bar is nestled in a neighborhood, so I recommend carpooling or Ubering if possible. read more

Our visit to Steak Night was definitely a hit! Came out as ordered and fresh as can be. The service at the establishment was pretty good, you order at the bar and wait as they make your drinks. They have a nice variety of drink options and the prices are fair. Parking can be a bit of a hassle as it is in a neighborhood but they do have a small private lot if you can get there early enough. I also like how they are aware of the Houston heat and have ample shade from nice sized umbrellas if you decide to sit outdoors. Down the street is the best tucked away neighborhood bar. They have plenty of events & weekly specials. Their taco nights are one of my favorites. Always a reasonably priced place to go for brunch. Pretty sure the mimosa pitchers are only like $11 for a whole bottle of champagne. They often have crawfish that rocks & is reasonably priced. Theirs a pesto pizza that's my absolute favorite. Happy hour is mega chill & really good prices. I wanna say $4 wells? Atmosphere is great. It's mostly outdoors with an amazing well lit patio. Great for a date night or catching up with friends. Their only down fall is that I feel like their frying machine is broken often (pretty comparable to McDonalds ice cream machine lol). I never get fries there but I have friends who have complained bc they couldn't get any. read more

We had the eggs Benedict which they call eggs on an island I believe I thought they were great and there drinks were also amazing! However when we walked in at around 11 it wasn't welcoming and since it was our first time we didn't know to go to the bar to order food. Later we came back after shopping and it was a more light hearted atmosphere and the bar tender remembered us from the morning. We ordered pizza margarita which was the best I've had in a while! We will definitely be coming back obviously we went back two times in one day so that should tell you how good the food and drinks were! Houston patio weather is like no other, and I'm so thankful to experience it again. Down the Street is just as chill as I remember with good drinks and food. The bartenders do a great job with making well-balanced drinks. Not too much ice and just the right amount of alcohol. This time around I chose their Strawberry Basil Margarita, which includes fresh pieces of both the fruit and seasoning, so it makes for a nice refreshing drink to battle this Houston heat. Because I'm a foodie you know I had to order their truffle fries (I ordered mine without Parmesan) and sticky Asian wings. All I can say is everything was fire. You get good portions for the price, and the wings had a nice tangy kick to them. This is a great spot to bring your dog or kids. Next time you're in the Heights make sure to swing by. read more

We were looking for a dog friendly place to grab a drink and light bites after a doggie playdate at the Johnny Steel Dog park nearby. It is so well hidden in the residential area that we only noticed it because of the hanging lights as we pulled up. The parking lot is quite tiny but we found a spot. We entered the dog friendly patio area and grabbed a table. It was busy but not annoyingly busy (*cough* Axelrad *cough*). We approached the conveniently located outdoor window to place our orders for drinks/food. We ordered the mac n cheese bites, pretzel, queso, strawberry mojitos and frozen ruby red bellini. The bartenders were very friendly and because they forgot the bellini initially they removed it from the bill. That bellini was soooo delicious and refreshing. It was the perfect summer drink. The strawberry mojitos were also very good. My only critique is that for $9 the mac n cheese bites were tinnnny. I wouldn't reorder them. They were good but I felt like there should have been more for the price. The queso was also surprisingly tasty. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the chill outdoor ambiance and cocktails and would return. read more

I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with a friend. The parking lot is small. There's some neighborhood parking around the corner, but even on a slower morning, we had to hunt. The outside patio was relatively filled. Definitely a dog-friendly patio. We picked it because it was recommended as a brunch place with tv's so we could watch the Texans play. The inside was vacant except a few people sitting at the bar ordering. It was our first time coming here, so we didn't know how dining worked. There was no sign or anything (that I could see). I ran into another customer and she told me how you order your food/drinks at the bar, they give you a number placard, and then bring everything out to you at your table. My order: - Creme Brûlée French Toast: This was excellent. It was a slice of French toast cake, I really liked the creme and berries that came with it. - Side of Scrambled Eggs: Not on the actual menu, the bartender taking my order really struggled with this. He was very confused and asked if I wanted it on the French toast (no). When I got my eggs on the side, they were over easy, which is a big difference from scrambled. So that was a flop. - Sangria: This was very eh. We got a bartender making it who seemed totally confused by the whole thing. He was getting help about how to make it from another female bartender. He didn't know if it needed ice or whether to add fruit. It was really underwhelming and kind of painful to watch him make it. We wanted a different bartender to make our second carafe but he was the only one available. Overall, it seemed a little pricy for a place that is straddling neighborhood bar/bougie bar hangout. It's trying to be too swanky so it's not your neighborhood bar. But I don't think the service model/ambiance matched the higher price point. Fun lil restraunt/bar, pretty decent brunch menu, everything was really really tasty. Good drinks, super fast and efficent bartender. I would not reccomened this restraunt IF you have an allergy. I have now stopped in at least 3 or 4 times and each time have gotten great service. The drinks are reasonably priced, and their daily specials are a fantastic value. We've been coming here for a few years now. Our friends are regulars and come a few times a week. It is always clean and you can always find a place to sit. They have a large outdoor section and on nice days the doors are open for the inside as well. They have a good selection of drinks and a variety of seating inside. There's a small room and some video games. They do have a small parking lot or you can park on the street too. Most people live around the area so they just walk. read more

Charming hidden neighborhood gem! Came here on a Sunday night for some wine, and the bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable. He was honest about his preferences about the wine and let me sample a couple - the Cotes de Rhone and an Uruguayan Cab. I went with the Cotes, which was super smooth. His pour was very generous. They had a pinot noir beer that was also excellent. It tasted like a radler and was a beautiful hue of blue-purple. Ambiance is nice - dimly lit but not excessively so. This place is really amazing! The really chill and hipster aura on both the inside and outside is very appealing. The bar was very popular on this Monday night, but my party sat outside on the patio and the lights hanging around and dog friendly atmosphere made it nice. We had some pimento cheese spread and crackers for appetizer, and I ordered a Ribeye with double potato gratin, since Monday is steak night. For $17, I had this very moist and juicy steak and delicious side. I was super content! Visited this cute little neighborhood bar on a Friday evening with a friend. The parking lot is incredibly small but we were able to find parking easily as it wasn't very crowded. Bar service was quick and we opted to sit outside on the patio. Not the best idea, as mosquitos were insane, but they did have bug spray readily available. We had the man pizza, truffle fries, sticky Asian wings, and crispy cauliflower. Everything was pretty good except the pizza, would not recommend the pizza. He could have operated in professional manner, but chose to act like a child. Don't know if my group will be coming back anymore. It was really good, however I think $4.50 a piece is pretty steep. It was a normal sized taco. It's counter/bar service so don't make the mistake of sitting at the table waiting for anyone. They'll bring the food out to you, but you gotta take your behind up to the bar to order your food and drinks. We sat on the patio. I didn't realize it was bingo night. At first it was kind of quiet because everyone was trying to listen to the numbers. I felt like I had to keep my voice down so everyone playing could hear the numbers. As the night went on and people started getting a little tipsy it got louder and louder. The good thing though is that you don't have to pay to play and they have pretty decent prizes.
