A fun way to spend an afternoon. Not the best aquarium I've ever been to but it was fun and some of the tanks were very interesting. I've seen a lot of people say they were surprised there were tigers. It must be something this company of aquariums has because I've been to the one in Houston with the same logo and they have two white tigers. read more

Unbelievable that it's legal to keep large majestic tigers, who normally roam 5-60 miles, in such small, sterile enclosures: it's inhumane. They're simply an "attraction" to increase ticket sales. PLEASE consider donating the tigers to our local Wild Animal Sanctuary so these beautiful (but terribly sad) tigers can freely roam/run outside, smell grass, roll in dirt, play in water and socialize with other tigers. Their captivity in this aquarium is simply cruel - regardless of what any "paid" biologists say. Any critically thinking, compassionate person knows this. read more

If I could give this aquarium 0 stars I would. It cost almost 70 dollars with parking for me and my boyfriend to go too. It was dirty, small, and the smell was god awful. Way overcrowded, so not sure what the "time slots" were for. It took us not even a hour to get through. I would recommend to go literally anywhere else. Walking into the aquarium was kind of like going back in time. I felt like I was walking into an aquarium from the 80s or 90s, and not in a good way. Much of the signage in the aquarium was inaccurate, unfortunately. The best parts were the flash flood exhibit and the small station where you could pet rays. Everything was tiny, though, and seemed painfully commercialized. It almost felt like it was trying to be a theme park. It felt like it hadn't been updated in decades, down to the gift shop and restaurant. I know the restaurant opened recently, but most of the shrimp was freezer burned, and the food seemed very low quality for the pricing. read more

In a scene from nina una familia, ( my father's side is originally from Portugal, my mother's Spain) my day started off great, as I prepared to drop off two kids at the Denver Aquarium. Fate chiseled it's way through my home causing discourse, and one person refused to go with the other, so I cheerfully volunteered myself to accompany the gilted one. The aquarium is right after the flagship store of REI. Buy your tickets online because they don't want to pack visitors in like sardines in a can. Parking is $8.00 and it's across the street. We enjoyed the under the sea-cave-like surroundings, the mountain-like terrain with waterfalls and multiple lake- like fish tank scenarios. The shark exhibit was eye opening, as they swam over our heads in the underground tunnel. The flash-flood-rain enactment from a desert scenario was a real like re- enactment. We ended our trip by greeting the stingrays at feeding time. Worthwhile to go just not as big as sea world or a costal aquarium. read more

Way overpriced for an hour visit. Even going through a second time and taking in more details of the fish didn't take long. The restaurant was only ok. With tip our bill for a senior and a child was $75 and we didn't order the most expensive and we shared what we did order. The food was so-so. The shrimp was so overcooked they were inedible -tough on the outside and mush inside. Got a variety but very little on the platter we chose. read more

I bought tickets online and was directed to a different city's aquarium. The ticket person asked before I got to the counter if I had, so they are fully aware that this happens often. When I rebought the correct tickets online we had to wait for 30 Minutes in a line with people who had not pre purchased. This aquarium is on the smaller size and can be completed in about an hour. We had dinner reservations and are Landry members. I had read that as members, they would seat you at the tables closest to the aquarium glass walls. When we made our reservations several months in advance, we requested to be seated next to the aquarium. However, we were seated several tables away from the aquarium. There were tables open next to the aquarium, so I just figured they must have been reserved. No one sat at those tables during our entire dinner. As Landry members, we were very disappointed. Although the food was good, overall it was a disappointing experience. Even though we didn't get to sit next to the aquarium, there were hardly any fish that swam by. So it didn't really matter where we sat. It was sad to expect and hope for a fun experience. We would pass on this restaurant. read more

I struggle with this review - it's between a 2 and a 3. I'm not going to go back, so that's why it's a 2. I don't understand why they have tigers. The one in the exhibit that we saw was pacing and panting - I know the aquarium is AZA accredited but that only means so much. We didn't see the otters. The fish and sharks were awesome though - I do like them, and they all seemed to be happy enough. There were two concerns I had and wanted to tell an employee about two tanks but I didn't see anyone apart from the ticket office (when I bought my ticket) to talk to. Overall it's an okay aquarium and takes about an hour to go through. It would be fun if you have kiddos or want to spend an hour or two exploring - just be sure to do your research and see what you're going to be doing. read more

I loved it here! We had dinner seated next to a huge tank in the aquarium. My 5 year old loves the aquarium near our home so he was in heaven! There was the added bonus of a mermaid show! This was an experience I had never had and my son was so excited it made my day. The two beautiful mermaids swam and flipped underwater for about 10 minutes. It all happened right next to our table. What a great experience. This place was just cool all around! Never have I visited an aquarium with a restaurant smack dab in the middle next to all of the action. I highly recommend this experience. This is a really small aquarium, but to be fair I am used to Pittsburgh's and Baltimore's Aquariums so I have pretty high expectations. Overall, it was still cool to see. I feel really bad for the tiger though because he is just stuck in a tiny cage indoors and looks very sad. Hopefully this aquarium doesn't acquire any more tigers for future years. read more

My daughter and I went on a Friday night at 6pm and took advantage of the special admission price. I was really impressed. The exhibits look really nice, the animals look healthy, and the stingray exhibit was amazing! We got to feed them which was a really cool experience. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which is very pretty and has a kids menu and a large variety of choices. We were pleased and would recommend it to friends. I was glad we went in the evening when it was quiet so we could take our time and didn't have to fight with crowds. read more

It's a fun aquarium, nothing super special but something fun to do in Denver. I went on a weekend with my little cousins and they had a blast. I would definitely recommend going on a weekday if you can. The place is on the smaller end for an aquarium and it was SO busy. At the end of the experience there's a big pool of water with stingrays that your allowed to touch and feed which was super cool. A neat experience for little kids. The little girls all loved the mermaids . The food is mediocre and the smell is atrocious. It's hard to eat seafood when the place smells like fish sewage. Taking a star off because I hate when aquariums have non water related animals (there is a tiger). It makes me sad and ultimately confused as to why it's there. Exhibits are amazing! We saw a ton of fish, sharks and rays! We saw a few cool turtles too, which are a favorite of my kids. The outdoor patio is great place for a snack; it is located at the exit, near the Starbucks-dispensing coffee shop. However, despite the amazing exhibits, I am reluctant to return because, compared to other family attractions, the (human) creature comforts are lacking. Not stroller friendly. There is a single slow and small elevator. You must use the elevator if you have a stroller (or wheelchair) because the entrance and exit are on the first floor and all exhibits are on the second floor. Bathrooms are limited. If you have young kids in your party, be sure to use the restrooms on the first floor before heading to the exhibits on the second floor because there's only a single unisex bathroom available on the second floor. Once you are on the second floor, you need to use the elevator to reach the first floor because the wide, beautiful staircase located next to the elevator are inexplicably available for "emergency use only." Long outdoor wait. Reservation times and tickets are booked online, but all visitors need to wait in an outdoor partially-covered queue to receive a physical ticket. There was just one staff member working at the window this morning and the line moved slowly; we were in line for about 15 minutes. That made me anxious because the confirmation email strongly stated that "tickets [are] no longer valid 30 minutes after scheduled entry time." For COVID purposes, remember that this is an indoor attraction. Fortunately, all staff members wore masks. But, the cramped indoor spaces felt too crowded; many patrons (adults and children) did not wear masks. read more

It had been a while since I've been to the Aquarium and my husband has never been so we thought today would be a good day to venture down to Denver to see some fish. We quickly realized that this was not going to be the experience we had hoped for. The informational signs often times had fish that we couldn't find or we saw fish in the tank that we couldn't find information for on the sign. What really irked me was when I saw not 1 but 2 signs (The Poison Dart Frog and Alien Invaders: Lionfish) that were talking about the country, Colombia. I happen to believe that when you are an educational business (or trying to be), that it might be useful to look at a map, dictionary, internet, etc. to make sure you are spelling words correctly. The country Colombia is NOT spelled Columbia. I was born there so perhaps I am a little sensitive to this issue. We also thought it was weird that there was a sign saying the tiger exhibit was under construction and then we saw a tiger in the exhibit. Ummm...ok? The Downtown aquarium has many little fun things for your family to do like a 4D Theater, Swimming with sharks, Touching sting rays, and seeing fishies! It has everything an aquarium would need such as water, fish and a tiger. Wait who invited the tiger? Who opens an aquarium and decides yeah let's put a tiger in here that takes up 80% of the space in the fish area. The variety of fish is interesting and the decorations are cool for an average aquarium. It's not the best aquarium it's not the worst. Let's sell the tiger and get some more fishes. You really only do about 4 turns and it's over, $45 for four turns is insane. At the end there's a little stingray touching area which is cool with face paint and other small things. Then you go down to the restaurant which I won't speak on as I have not tried it. The gift shop quite frankly is dumb. There's barely anything about the actual place and just dollar store fish related items with a few shirts that say Denver Aquarium. Some of the shirts don't even have fish in it but a tiger. Let's get rid of this tiger if you really wanna impress me make him swim around with the sharks. Ultimately the aquarium leaves me sayin aquariummmm never coming back again. read more

Anyways, my husband and I decided to check out this aquarium during our visit to Denver on a Thursday in the late afternoon, which was nice because it was not crowded. This being our first time to this aquarium, it was interesting to see the set up. It is different from other aquariums that I have been to. I like how each of the exhibits/ tanks are open and have plenty of space to look at (not a fan of everything so crowded and squished together). It is also nice that there is a different section throughout the aquarium (which seems to be very thoughtfully laid out). After you pay for your entrance at the front, you are now in the North America exhibit section. Here you will find creatures that are native to this area. Other exhibits include the dessert, under the sea, rain forest, coral lagoon and shipwreck. I thought the at the beach exhibit was kind of cute. But funny that you see signs for purchasing crabs and fish at an aquarium. My husband and I probably spent about an hour or slightly a bit more here and enjoyed everything we saw. I think this aquarium is pretty kid friendly and is a great place for them (and you) to learn about the sea life. Towards the end of our visit, we saw a huge octopus (much larger than we were expecting) in a tank. Also in this area (you are able to view your photo that you take before starting your self tour of the aquarium) is a touch pool where you can pet stingrays. You can also purchase sardines to feed them if you wish. By the way, there is a restaurant here with some really cool looking decor. But the prices are a bit high though. Also you can order seafood off their menu (a bit morbid isn't it? But why not?). According to one employee, this restaurant may offer a small 10% discount on your bill with triple A membership. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed our time here. It gave us something else to add to our vacation itinerary. read more

My mom's last visit to Denver we decided to check out the Downtown Aquarium. We were both a little underwhelmed by it to be honest. I think we are just spoiled being from California and having those amazing aquariums at our disposal. + I enjoyed the otters in the North American Wilderness exhibit. + The In the Desert exhibit about flash flooding was pretty interesting and I thought it was very well done (enough to startle me, just a little). + The Coral Lagoon exhibit was fun, mostly because of the clown fish and the blue tang fish! Of course I called them Nemo and Dory, then I proceeded to take about 50 pictures. No, I'm not kidding. I think I embarrassed my mother. Go me! + I also liked the underwater viewing tunnel so we could get a little closer with some of the fish, sharks, and turtles. - I felt like this aquarium was a little all over the place. I mean there's your usual assortment of fish and marine life, but there's also tigers... Cause you know... Tigers. +/- We did eat at the restaurant and the food was decent enough. I def felt weird ordering seafood with all the fish around... So I opted for a burger. It was decent. All in all, I'd say that I've been here now and unless an out of town visitor really wanted to go, I probably wouldn't go back. Kids would love it here with all the attractions. As an adult, I was more excited to dine at the Aquarium restaurant (lol). It's nicely decorated with great service, fantastic desserts (we had the mascarpone cheesecake, smallest out of all the crazy creations but it was still awesome!) and you gotta catch the mermaid show. What a feast to the belly AND the eyes! The only thing that raised my eyebrows was that in order to get to the restrooms from the restaurant, you MUST go through the gift shop, hmph! We enjoyed all of our entrée items except for the steak (so, just stick with seafood; chicken's not bad either). A decent burger (actually better than I expected) and lots of kid friendly foods. The restaurant is owned by Landry's which is a chain with several other joints operating under different names throughout the state. I'm happy as a clam! read more

Just went to the aquarium on a whim and was pleasantly surprised but the look layout and everything they had to offer. It may say they're in aquarium but there were birds tigers reptiles you name it was there. While people were wearing masks inside the space is tinier and people weren't following the 6 feet rules so that kind of made me nervous but I just try to stay away from all that it was kind of hard. Really enjoyed seeing all of the fish sea life the exhibits were designed really well when you first walk in there was a tank right above you you walked under and you got to see all kinds of different sea creatures. Walking in the one room there was a tiger which was super cool to see so they mixed it up with that. I also loved how when I went to the very end of the aquarium they had a stingray area where you can touch which I've never done before and really enjoyed. They had handwashing stations so you would be safe and so would the animal. Would definitely go back and I think everyone should go check out the aquarium when they get a chance read more

Let me start by saying that I'm from Tampa Florida and that the aquarium is AMAZING!!! So I had high expectations, although I didn't know how high. When we first walked in, it smelled humid and salty, not in a good way. The floors were concrete and wet in spots. A lot of the exhibits were small and hard to see if there were many people there. The otters were not in display. Was surprised to see a tiger like many other posts mentioned. Didn't seem distressed but odd none the less. The whole thing only took 35-45 minutes to complete. Oh, and did I mention parking is $8!?! Luckily we went early enough that they hasn't staffed it yet and we didn't have to pay. Website says to allow for 2-3 hours to experience, but my family of 6 was through the entire exhibit in 45 minutes - even with elbow to elbow crowds. There are some beautiful fish, and the large aquariums that go over head at the end are a crowd pleaser but overall it was WAY over priced. Parking took forever, but was actually pretty easy and close once you finally were able to get a ticket. Overall, good if you're looking to kill an hour tops and don't care to spend $$$.. if you're looking to actually make a day out an activity with your kiddos, hit the zoo instead. read more

This was a pretty standard aquarium. It had hundreds of fish that all looked pretty similar to each other in every section. There were some sharks and stingrays. They had a stingray petting area where the stingray's splash you. Ticket prices are crazy expensive. $24 per adult. Parking is also $8, so I'd strongly recommend carpooling or going somewhere else. They have a restaurant and some little attractions that all cost extra money. read more

I love the aquarium! We always have a ball. The food was delicious we had a large group at the restaurant and the sever was attentive, the manager and head chef were attentive to one of our members with a shellfish allergy. We got 4 of the large appetizer platters to share and most of us got the ceviche which is HUGE! Share this with 3-4 people if you're having a meal! It was delicious, the calamari and seafood dip on the platters were great too. The lounge was way under staffed during happy hour on a Friday night and they kept acting annoyed that we had such a large group. But we all got our drinks, so it worked out fine! Always a fun time! Took my twins here today for the first time and they loved it (for the most part- my daughter isn't a fan of the dark and my son for some reason did not like his ride on the carousel)! My husband and I enjoyed petting the starfish and the manta rays! We watched the Mermaid ‍‍‍ show (my daughter is a big fan), and my son loved seeing the sharks! Marah the Sumatran tiger was on display today, both kids thoroughly enjoyed watching him! I love the variety of fish/aquatic life on display at this aquarium, it never disappoints! From fish , to frogs , to snakes , to macaws , to tigers, and otters! The educational aspect of it is great too having young kids! Staff was very friendly, inviting and informative! Clean and well lit (unless it was an intentionally dark exhibit, of course). 11/10 would recommend and will definitely be coming back! read more
