We came here for a late brunch / early lunch and came across it by mistake, but so happy we did! The service was incredible and very attentive! Everything we ordered was exactly as described and delicious and the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Stopped here while in town on vacation. Waitress was nice but definitely preoccupied with other things and took a while to get our food. Great beer selection though. Appetizers were spinach dip and poutine, and For our main meals we got chicken fingers, a Cuban, and a pizza and all were delicious. Had indoor and outdoor seating for the summer which was nice! Clean inside.

Popped back in as we arrived later than expected to the area. Most of the other local restaurants were closed, but trusty Downtown City Tavern was open late. We tried the meatballs this time and they're just like your grandma would make them...maybe better - but don't tell her that. The service was wonderful as always.

    Good times at the bar!

This is the one place I consistently go to when I want something wet and tasty. Sage has a delightful rotating beer menu and the food is quite good! The Tavern Fries are a must have. I have had and enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Salad, their wood fired chicken wings, Tavern Meatballs, and the Pork BBQ Mac & Cheese. I always sit at the bar and the staff are quite friendly, sociable, and are attentive to their guests. The atmosphere is an old pub feel which makes you feel right at home. There is also a nice patio for outdoor seating when the weather warms up.

This is visit #2..... first time was close to closing time.

Well...my wife and I tried on Sunday, close to closing and they were out of some food. But what we had omg!! Delicious and a ton of food! Now to tonight. Boozy milkshakes...my daughter and wife loved them... death by chocolate and bourbon salted Carmel. Yeah well let's see ice cream...yum... mixed with alcohol...double yum... We tried their house meatballs with their crimson blend sauce ( a mixture of marinara and cheese fondue) we will be back to try a pizza with this sauce! Meatballs were sooo tender. A great way to start. My daughter had the pulled pork Mac and cheese. The picture shows it in the skillet...she has lunch and dinner for tomorrow. Pulled pork is melt in your mouth and very cheesy Mac n cheese. My wife and I decided to make our own pizza.. cheese fondue (white pizza) pulled pork, smoked mozzarella, spinach, ricotta. Fantastic! Pizza crust a little crisp (oven fired) and everything melted together to make every bite flavorful. If you get a chance to stop in glens falls, NY...hometown USA... its the old Boston candy shoppe. Redone in a cozy atmosphere that is welcoming and let's you feel at ease. Overall...o er $100 with tip tonight. So worth it. Staff is attentive but not hovering...their too dang busy to be . Let's just say they have so many more things we have to try!

First time here, it's a nice little place inside. The waitress Lauren was very friendly and nice. We had the Bacon Blue and Smokehouse burgers, they were a very good size and both delicious. We look forward to other items on the menu.

I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Gyro to-go! The fries are pesto flavored, but the pesto wasn't strong enough and they mostly tasted like regular fries. The gyro was delicious!! The chicken had great flavor, it is a little spicy though(: Overall, a great meal, I had leftovers afterwards too!

Yelping in the Lake George area helped me find Downtown City Tavern, as it's an an obscure location in Glens Falls that would be difficult to stumble onto otherwise while exploring. It's got an upscale bar vibe with a varied menu with something for everyone, including soups, salads, mac & cheese, burgers/sandwiches, pizzas, gyros, and some bar foods. We ordered the quattro formaggi bianco pizza (white 4-cheese pizza), jerk chicken sandwich (with side house salad), and a smokehouse burger (with fries). The food (4-4.5/5) was all fresh & delicious using quality ingredients. Service was friendly and quick, and I enjoyed reading about how Downtown City Tavern was formerly the location of The Boston Candy Kitchen, and the 1500 pound marble slabs that used to be involved in the candy-making process are part of the decor...love a place with a bit of historical charm behind it. There is plenty of free parking outside the tavern and there is a patio for outdoor dining as well. While I'm not a fan of businesses that pass on credit card fees (they charge 2.87%) to customers, Downtown City Tavern is a great local business I'd recommend to others visiting the area looking for a good and decent quality meal.

Got takeout last night and this is what we got. How do you serve this crap?

I door-dashed dashed the ceaser salad and was shocked at the price and the size of the salad. Not worth the money at all.

Yuck. But their single lager and single pilsner are always good/consistent. And they have one meddle/award that they are proudly showing off, and they should but guess what kind of beer it is? A Pilsner. Take the hint you don't need 17 easy to make no effort IPAs that all taste the same. Food seems like an afterthought here. It's consistently average. They make a decent pizza here, but it's always soggy. The outside crust typically is perfect, often with a light char which is nice, but underneath the cheese and sauce, which they to put too much of on and undercook it, you wind up with a soggy slice of pizza that tastes OK. I also had their poutine recently. I can live with the vegetarian turkey gravy, which tasted pretty good, cheese curds were OK but what's going on with these fries? Soggy, brown. Are they brown because they're fry oil is disgusting? Are they just cooking the crap out of these things. I can't imagine that's the case because they're not crispy at all and taste awful. Waiting and bar staff seem to be wonderful people- they're attentive, food comes out relatively quickly. Service is not rushed. Atmosphere in this place is pretty good though I would like to have the music turned up a little bit louder so it's just not background noise and so you can actually hear the lyrics or discern what song is being played. Music done right can be part of the experience. Right now it's just a soft rumble in the background and it just becomes an annoyance. There's literally been extensive research on music in your restaurant and bar and how loud it's supposed to be and the music selection. Why places like this pay absolutely no attention to that research is beyond me. MUSIC IS IMPORTANT! Treat it that way please. Ultimately, even though the food is averaged to below average, and I can't hear the music, we continue to come back here because of the beer . Imagine if they put the same effort into their menu...

You can choose from the Chef's Counter, the bar, a high-top table, a low table, or an outdoor table (weather permitting). We also appreciated them asking about food allergies on the reservation system too and they verified it when we arrived. One of the reasons I like Mean Max so much is my preference for darker beers. They always have a number of them available, enough to make a flight of just those if you want (flights here are five 5oz. glasses), with quite a range of ABV's, if that matters to you. While the Troy taproom has numerous pinball machines, here they only have one Golden Tee with a large screen for it on the wall (something my friends would love).
